With the arrival Beatlemania they changed their name to Beat 4 and began playing song of their idols, The Beatles, The Kinks and The Animals. It's not just the usual jangle pop thing or even worse, not something they call "garage punk" these days, nope sir! It is true 70s flavoured powerpop, but just like my boss always likes to utter: You cannot tell people about the greatness of a powerpop record - you have to listen to it, preferably with a drink of choice in your hand and soon it will unravel its specialty (or not). What do I love about BAD WEED besides the fact that they are the most handsome guys around who -- after performing in many different bands for 20 years now - finally learned how to play their instruments? It's the songs! It's all about the songs! The first single from 2015 was something else, you can even call this garage pop, their debut album a couple of years ago and about 100 shows later was just the beginning, here is their second full length simply entitled "II" with the talent, songwriting ability and pop craftsmanship on display! Some of these 12 original songs remind me of albums / bands that seem to be long forgotten on the long run, like "If you ever pt1" could be an early THE FRESHIES single, "Breaking Lines" could be from a RUDI setlist or "Who's gonna love me" sounds just like one of those THE COLD earworms. In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Bettie Serveert"s debut, Matador Records has announced a limited transparent orange LP + 7" of "Palomine." Heralded in its original four-star review by Rolling Stone as "untamed and free as pop gets," the "90s classic will see its first pressing by Matador since the album"s original release in 1993. Ann Arbor's Pity Sex built the world of White Hot Moon, their second album, inch-by-inch. The group, formed in 2011 by childhood friends and lifelong collaborators Sean St. Charles (co-lyricist/drums) and Brennan Greaves (vocals/guitar), came together explicitly to try its hand at writing pop songs. St. Charles and Greaves were putting their hardcore band to rest, enlisting Britty Drake (co-lyricist/vocals/guitar) and Brandan Pierce (bass) to round out Pity Sex's line-up. Now, the band is using the foundation of 2013's celebrated Feast of Love as the framework for something bigger, stronger, and altogether more monumental. Coming off of tours with Ceremony, Eskimeaux, and Colleen Green_including a run in Australia_the band dove into the studio with Feast of Love producer Will Yip to harness that momentum into an album to showcase Pity Sex's growth. And if White Hot Moon wears its ambition on its sleeve, that's by design: the band looked to wide-screen albums by Yo La Tengo and Sonic Youth for inspiration in finding a bigger sound. That shows: Drake and Greaves spin huge webs of sound, anchored in shoegaze but branching off in a dozen directions, from fuzzed-out power-pop ("Bonhomie") to shimmering balladry ("Dandelion") and back again, while St. Charles and Pierce lock into step subtly counterintuitive rhythms and floor-shaking low-end.

If you haven't seen him haranguing the crowd on a festival stage with Le Villejuif Underground, then you've come across one of his hallucinated noise performances within CIA Debutante in a squat in Poland.Like Kevin Ayers in Montolieu or Robert Crumb in Sauve, Nathan has chosen the heart of the Roya Valley. Thus, he perpetuates this tradition of the uprooted freak that we sometimes come across on the terraces of cafes in the South of France which, like a storyteller, make you escape with crazy stories.
