The music of Deutsche Elektronische Musik 3 ranges from the introverted pastoralism of Hans Joachim Roedelius and Bröselmaschine, to the angular and futuristic electronic experimentations of Klauss Weiss, Pyrolator, Deuter, Michael Bundt and others, to the proto-punk of La Düsseldorf and the heavy space, progressive and cosmic rock of Missus Beastly, Niagara and Dyzan.
The music on Deutsche Elektronische Musik 3 was all recorded in the 1970s up to the early 1980s, at a time when forward-thinking German electronic and rock groups were searching for a new musical identity in order to separate themselves from both the cultural legacy of post-world war two Germany as well the ‘cultural imperialism’ of USA and UK rock. In this process German groups created some of the most unique and inspired music, the defining motorik beat alongside a host of ethno-musical influences from far afield – including Turkey, India, Brazil – as well as the musical and futurist possibilities of developments in electronics and technology itself.
Deutsche Elektronische Musik 3 is released as a heavyweight 3xLP, deluxe double CD pack and digital release. The new extensive sleevenotes are by David Stubbs, who is the author of the acclaimed book, ‘Future Days: Krautrock and the Building of Modern Germany’ (Faber & Faber).

Away with the mystics, here it is: Radiohead's ninth long player combining art rock and psychedilc folk.

A cursory glance at A Moon Shaped Pool may suggest a certain measure of indifference on the part of Radiohead. Its 11 songs are sequenced in alphabetical order -- a stunt befitting a Pixies concert or perhaps a Frank Black box set, not a proper album -- and many of these tunes are of an older vintage: the group began work on the opening "Burn the Witch" at the turn of the century, while the closing "True Love Waits" first appeared in concerts way back in 1995. These are the elements of a clearinghouse, but with Radiohead appearances are always deceiving. A Moon Shaped Pool doesn't play like an ill-considered collection of leftovers; it unfurls with understated ease, each silvery song shimmering into the next. The pulse rarely quickens and the arrangements seldom agitate, yet the album never quite feels monochromatic. Sly, dissonant strings grace some cuts, acoustic guitars provide a pastoral counterpoint to an electronic pulse, Thom Yorke's voice floats through the music, often functioning as nothing more than an element of a mix; what he's saying matters not as much as how he murmurs. Such subtle, shifting textures emphasize Radiohead's musicianship, a point underscored when this version of "True Love Waits" is compared to its 2001 incarnation. There, Yorke accompanied himself with a simple acoustic guitar and he seemed earnest and yearning, but here, supported by piano and strings, he sounds weary and weathered, a man who has lost his innocence. What he and Radiohead have gained, however, is some measure of maturity, and with this, their music has deepened. Certainly, sections of A Moon Shaped Pool contain an eerie, disconcerting glimmer, usually attained through power kept in reserve -- nothing stabs as hard as the sawing fanfare of "Burn the Witch," while the winding, intersecting guitars that conclude "Identikit" provide the noisiest element -- yet the album as a whole doesn't feel unsettling. Instead, there's a melancholic comfort to its ebb and flow, a gentle rocking motion that feels comforting; it's a tonic to the cloistered, scattered King of Limbs and even the sleek alienation of Kid A. Radiohead are recognizably the same band that made that pioneering piece of electronica-rock but they're older and wiser on A Moon Shaped Pool, deciding not to push at the borders of their sound but rather settle into the territory they've marked as their own. More like Matt Pike and Lemmy Fucking Kilmister. “The Great White Dope” is featuring members of Kyuss, Fu Manchu, and the Adolescents, containing 10 riff-filled tracks of high energy, bullshit-free punk and sleaze. The song writing on ‘The Great White Dope’ steers away from the experimental direction of their previous release, and it's laser focused on one thing: unapologetically rocking your face off. The vocoder is gone and they've recruited singer Tony Adolescent, who delivers balls to the wall vocals with no added effects or frills. Well known to punk rock aficionados for his nearly four-decade tenure as the Circle Jerks' bassist - Zander Schloss opens a new chapter in his musical career with the release of his first solo recording, Song About Songs, from San Diego-based Blind Owl Records. The album was recorded at Los Angeles' Sargent Recorders, the Filipinotown studio owned by producer and fellow Missouri native Gus Seyffert, who also plays bass on the collection; Seyffert is a well-traveled sideman who has worked with Roger Waters, Norah Jones, Beck, and the Black Keys, among others. Jake Blanton, Seyffert's best friend in Kansas City, Mo, contributed keyboards; he has played behind Brandon Flowers of the Killers and Michelle Branch. Josh Adams, also from KC, is a highly skilled studio drummer who supported Schloss and Wheeler on their second album Other Desert Cities. The emerging singer-songwriter Bedouine guests as vocalist on the track "I Have Loved the Story of My Life." "This is my polar opposite version of punk rock. Punk rock is volume and anger and speed. I wanted to do space and vulnerability and excruciating, almost subconscious emotions, things that I feel so deeply that I would never say them out loud."

Maria Muldaur is a singer who was part of the American folk music revival in the early 1960s. P-vine is reissuing two albums released on Black Top Records by this diva who has spun American roots music.

"Meet Me At Midnite" is an album released in 1994 under the production of John Porter, known for his work with Buddy Guy and B.B. King. It features Maria's captivating vocals, enveloping listeners in the sultry atmosphere reminiscent of a hot summer night in the American South. Tracy Nelson, Bill Payne and Shaun Murphy of Little Feat, and Don Bryant & Ann Peebles are among the contributors, with Dan Penn also credited as a songwriter. Ananda Mida is a Stoner and Psychedelic Rock music collective led by Max Ear (OJM’s drummer and Go Down Records’ Art Director) and Matteo Pablo Scolaro. From the very beginning of the project, graphic imagery has been given a crucial role thanks to the precious collaboration with the visual artist Eeviac. Since 2015, they have been performing with different lineups, from three to six members, either instrumental or featuring singers. Their sound is inspired by 70s Rock, mixed with desert and psychedelic grooves. In 2015, they debuted with the double A-sided 7-inch Aktavas/Passavas, which gave rise to the band’s mythology, elaborated from some fragments of enigmatic teachings. In Fall 2016 they released their first full-length Anodnatius, co-produced by Go Down Records and Vincebus Eruptum Recordings. It reminds us of all the positive forces and slight vibrations settled inside and outside everything and everyone. In January 2019, the second chapter Cathodnatius was published, depicting all the opposing forces and obscure vibes we live in today. November 2023 will see the release of their third work, which will “mythologically” complete the trilogy.

L'aube des Anathèmes offers a wide range of the mid 90’s Black Metal sound where you can hear undoubtedly the raw / old school black metal in their sound to a certain point where it gets mixed with the synth instrument (that is very present within the symphonic black metal genre) without sounding to symphonic, but rather haunted or vampiric. The guitars however deliver those vile raw and yet melodic riffs that directly make you forget about all the above and just take you on this wave of melodies throughout the album. The drums are pounding with variations between the old school blast beats and fast blast beats to even mid-tempo and thrash like tempos together with an overlay on low bass tones. The vocals can only be complimented for lifting everything up and finalizing that 90’s sound as a whole! Aqua Blue Vinyl. Limited to 350 copies.SALTPIG is a bit of a mystery. The band just showed up seemingly out of nowhere, album in hand, with the music loudly speaking for itself. As it soon became known, SALTPIG is a two person band with Fabio Alessandrini (formerly of Annihilator) on drums and Mitch Davis handling vocals, guitar and all of the other layers of noise that can be heard on the record. The music that came out of this pairing has elements of doom/stoner/psych/occult metal and others, but they didn't go into it with anything that specific in mind. They just make the music they want to hear. Davis has been working with bands/artists including LA Guns, Damon Albarn, Billy Squier, Stephen Malkmus, Mark Lanegan, Sunbomb and U2, but SALTPIG is obviously a very different animal. For his own band, Mitch created a sound that is much darker. When he started writing the SALTPIG tracks, it pretty quickly turned into this debut album. Most of the tracking was done in their respective studios, with Fabio in Italy, and Mitch in New York where he'd do all of the final recording, production and mixing. It's melodic but embraces dissonance. It's noisy and dirty and evil sounding. Underproduced and real. It embraces imperfections as only a human can do.

Anthem Of The Sun is not a live album. Nor is it a studio album. It is truly a hybrid, unprecedented at the time and never replicated. It is both types of album and was created through genius production techniques, exceptional musicianship and inspiration.

There were two versions of Anthem Of The Sun and also of Aoxomoxoa, the Dead’s 1969 follow-up to Anthem. ... The original mix [of Anthem] was muddier, but to my ears this was part of its draw. It worked well with the live vibe the Dead brought to their second studio album. Now, after over 20 years of listening to both mixes quite equally, I feel they complement one another perfectly. There’s plenty of room in the sonic landscape to hear both mixes and appreciate them both for their subtle, and not-so-subtle, differences.

This new Vinyl Me, Please slab of wax is the original mix and a rare opportunity to hear the 1968 intention mastered from the original analog tape. There’s always a lot to be excited about in the Grateful Dead world, and this is certainly one of those things.

This album, a pair of gorgeous, androgynous longhairs with incredible cheekbones on its cover, showed up first. Its songs talked of girls with jewels on their lips riding zebras and a chance encounter with a wizard. The sound was a strange brew concocted from different strains of earlier rock ’n’ roll: some folk, some rock, and an undeniable debt to Eddie Cochran. Marc Bolan’s music, persona, and look were strange, beautiful, and whimsical enough that if you tried to explain his massive popularity to somebody born after the century Bolan lived in, for just shy of 30 years, it would probably sound like a story from eons ago. We know glam came after T. Rex, but it’s also just a skip to the Sex Pistols, Ramones, and more punk from there; it’s also not far from the “post” sounds that came out of New York and London around 1977 or the darkness and decadence of Siouxsie Sioux and Bauhaus either. The tarted-up heavy metal of Hanoi Rocks and Poison in the 1980s followed, and into this newer century, you can hear Bolan’s direction heeded and reimagined by Alison Goldfrapp or Devendra Banhart. All of that is because of this album, the sound of Marc Bolan turning the key to unlock his true potential. His magically strange vision took shape here, and nothing has been the same since.
