The third release on Slices OF Life comes from the Berlin vinyl DJ and producer Baaz, who has been gaining steady growing attention by House Music lovers and DJ's. He is the reason that Daniel Bell reactivated his Elevate label to release a Baaz 12inch in 2008. This ep and the releases on Agnes' label Sthml Audio opened up the door for very productive collaborations with other labels and dj's. The 3 tracks on Slices OF Life show Baaz's focus on deep pure and simple House grooves that roll on massively, and work perefectly without using obvious effects and frills. The A side "Judy's Bass" clearly reveals Baaz's love of fat bassdrums and basslines in combination with classic drum machine and percussion elements while the stringline carries you away endlessly. With "Jeally" on B1 Baaz delves even deeper into percussion programming and creates a perfect deep track for the late hours. Carbon Hair (b2) shows the dubby and darker side of Baaz: a very dub techno influenced house track that is especially driven by warm beats and open high hats.

Deep Club resident dj and head strobe controller Lone Dancer marks our label’s 4th entry with his first solo 12” on vinyl. After finishing two quality tape albums in 2017 already for Jacktone and Always Human Tapes, “House is a Tunnel” arrives packed with 4 club-ready jagged tekno bangers and one cut for the chillout room. Side A - Communication: The title track is a sure-fire party starter centered around a thick kickdrum and a repeating synth rhythm laced with weird percussion and synth stabs trickling
through the texture. Next, “PO12-3” combines crisp claps, hats, and a central synth theme that calls for an intergalactic rave. “Colony Dwelling” kicks off the Transportation side, taking our extraterrestrial dancers to a new dimension steeped in fog juice and flangers. “Floor” has a chill intro until it launches into a gritty track that throws broken kickdrums and distorted synths in every direction. Finally, “Night Rain” puts the party to rest utilizng soft pads while hinting at moments from the night before.
Overall, “House is a Tunnel” is a fitting dance-centric conglomeration of Lone Dancer’s unique style of jacking techno, broken beats, and spaced out tracks that has set him apart in 2017.

To mark EPM’s 20th anniversary we’ve been releasing a series of EPs, each one focussing on a different genre. In May we brought you a taste of Techno with Robert Hood, Ben Sims, James Ruskin and Mark Broom each delivering their distinct production skills, whilst this September sees the release of our second EP bringing together cuts by some of Electro’s leading lights - The Advent & Zein Ferreira, Carl Finlow, Detroit’s Filthiest and Modulator (a.k.a. Freddie Fresh). For the third and final EP in the series we turn our attention to House music, and once again we’ve commissioned four brand new and exclusive tracks from artists who we’ve had the pleasure to work with over the years. First up is none other than a Detroit Techno founding father and the TechnoSoul innovator himself Eddie Fowlkes, who delivers a classy opener in ‘1-2-3’ that’s deep yet vibrant and showcases his legendary status. Next is a fellow Motor City modernizer, Jon Dixon whose musicianship and productive talent takes him from jazz to techno which he skilfully brings to ‘Mack & Bewick’. Motech Records’ founder DJ 3000 brings us the spirit of ‘Summer 1995’ as he briefly steps away from techno to give us this uplifting sun-drenched stunner. Final track ‘The Beat’ comes from Rico & Sonny, the pseudonym of Chicago based DJ duo and production team of Adam Stolz and the talented Tim Baker, recorded before his devastating and untimely passing. His music lives on and we’d like to dedicate this EP to him. The ‘epm20’ compilation which features all the tracks from the EPs plus additional cuts from a host of other artists and EPM friends will follow this autumn.

Those that belong to the cult of Ron Hardy, Mad Mike Banks, Traxx, and JTC will welcomingly be drenched in its riotous energies. It is for the dedicated, not the light-hearted. After further research it has been discovered that, Experiment Zero is the product of Dona, aka Dj Plant Texture and Mike Tansella Jr. of Son of Traders, both products of the ancient mercantile city of Bari in Southern Italy. Previous works from these artists have been featured on Creme Organization, Gravitational Waves, Unknown to Unknown, and Illian Tapes. All sonic experimentation was recorded in one take to capture the raw energy of instantaneous collaborative sound craft operating in flux. Beartone records are back with their seventh release, showcasing the increasingly sophisticated sound of label boss Bearface and an appropriate and exciting link up with the Romanian minimal house scene in the form of a remix from the uber-respected and prolific Vlad Caia (Amphia Records, Sit). From West London to Bucharest, the love of minimal, trippy and atmospheric House crosses national boundaries and dancefloors. Here we have four solid tracks, all showcasing the lovingly crafted attention to sound design that these two exciting producers are known for.

The EP kicks off with ‘Shikazu’ (original mix), a subtle, poly-rhythmic micro-house delight. Razor sharp, trebly hi-hats and a solid kick underpin barely caught glimpses of swirling, organic sounds and faint touches of reverbed chords lingering in the background. Perfect for those late-night moments, it feels like digital birds and corrupted circuit boards singing to each other in a mystical garden of not-so-earthly delights. Vlad Caia adds a little complexity to the remix, adding a few layers to the rhythm track but staying faithful to the atmospheric intent of the original. Touches of melody in the bassline and melancholic chords stretch and build the track into an intriguing soundscape that would work alike for both discerning dancefloors and the horizontal groover at home. On the flip, ‘Woodsman’ continues the otherworldly theme, starting with a playful, shifting metronomic tick before layers of percussion and multiple shimmering chord washes overwhelm you. This feels like a beautiful transition between worlds, with elements drifting in and out of the mix but never becoming dominant or lingering beyond their welcome. Mesmerizing stuff. Finally, ‘Reduts’ shifts into a slightly darker, more lo-fi approach that crosses the boundary of tech-house and starts nudging the edges of techno. The tag team are back with another club-ready release bringing together their combined experience and production prowess. Dan Ghenacia and Chris Carrier are long-time friends who’ve been working together in the studio over the last few years, resulting in a series of EPs on labels like Apollonia, Adult Only and, of course, Music For Freaks, for whom this is their second release. On the A-side ‘Vocalized’ comes at us full throttle with a powerful bassline and crisp, punchy beats. The vibe is unrelenting with a neat call and response vocal clip and a simple, catchy melody in the top line, keeping it hypnotic. Funky, groovy and full of potent energy from start to end. On the flip ‘Burning’ has a similar aesthetic, with taut drums and bass, plus a range of unusual sounds to add depth and character. Indecipherable vocal clips pop up occasionally, and the pace picks up as the track hits the midpoint. A repeated siren-esque effect locks you into the groove, keeping you hopelessly hooked until the end.

Returning fresh off of his last project 'Goes On EP', Darone is back with another 12". This time, his project pays homage to two places which he calls home. A juxtaposition of his birthplace, Los Angeles, and where he feels a strong connection, Armenia. The A-Side features 'Dance of the Sun Worshipers', which was written with the petroglyphs of Ughtasar and the Armenian Stonehenges of Syunik in mind. The henges in question were set as an astronomical observation tool to view the Milky Way Galaxy by the ancient natives of the land. Parts of the petroglyphs have carvings of beings dancing around a wheel of fire. A representation of the Sun or early signs of the Armenian Eternity Wheel. The B-Side features 'Far Away' by Sassounian and a remix of the same track by Byron The Aquarius. Far Away was written at the height of lockdown, with a local collective of the same name in mind. Operating as a cassette label, mixtape series, and party, Far Away was based in Los Angeles, run by Cooper Saver and Jen Ferrer. Darone would frequently attend their events in Los Angeles and find comfort in a community that he can call home. On remix duties, Byron The Aquarius delivers a raw and chuggy tip to Darone's track, 'Far Away'. A dub of the original, Byron programs this one into a full and thick driving force for the dance floor and the heads. This is Rocky Hill.

After our debut vinyl release “Cosmic Vibrations” with Rush City x Handerk we are ready to present our second vinyl release. This time one of our label founders Jonathan Lopez A.K.A Jonahlo wants to take you in a psychedelic journey on his new EP “acid Days”; a four track EP where each track gets you through a different state of mind.

Jonahlo is an amazing musician, jazz bass player and producer from Bogotá, Colombia. He has released music on labels such as Nomada Records, Night Young and Otayana Records.

This trip starts with “Acid Days”; a superb Deep House anthem with layers of evolving sounds, exquisite melodies and uplifting chord progressions that make us take off and start feeling 100% positive. You can hear samples from cinema describing how it feels when you start connecting and being one with nature.

The following track is “Particles”; on this track Jonahlo goes deeper, evoking hypnotic and far-sighted moods of melancholy. At this point we start pondering about the universe’s infinite dimension and imagining particles vibrating as we fall into our deepest thoughts.

On the flip- side we bump into “Lost Mind”, a percussive deep techno with spacey and bleepy sounds reminding us that 90’s uk old-school style. Now is the time to get lost in the moment after going through the trip’s hard peak where you really start letting go.

The release closes with “It’s Alright”; a good vibe deep sampled house track that tell us to take it easy, to just relax and appreciate life.

The Album cover was disigned by incredible Colombian artist Jose Mejía which represents a flower going through the process of questioning oneself and coming out transformed on the other side. It is a process of exploration, discovery, and rebirth.

This is the very first and only single artist EP from Tone DropOut. This EP is the work of TDO co -owner Dawl. Dawl has put together four big dance floor electro bangers , that we felt should not be separated. Each track shows off Dawl's skill, knowledge and love of electro, anyone who loves new and old school electro will love this. We have the big bass lines, the beautiful big deep synths and pads, bleeps and buzzes and that classic electro beat, and topped off with some cheeky sampled voices. The title Track -Total Annihilation kicks off with its strong electro breakbeat and popping bleeps, going in and out, then comes the big fuzzy bassline and cinematic strings swooping through the track moving all the time, will get any dance floor going. Track 2 infiltrator has those great claps over the electro beat before we get the busy bassline and the bleeps and buzzes and that driving synth, constantly moving . Track 3 is Kaotik and that exactly what it is with its wobbly bleeps and whistles and pumped actioned bobbly bassline true electro. Track 4 the final track on EP as strong as the others with its basslines and bleeps and strings and synths caps off this EP nicely. Another Tone DropOut four track banger, all tracks ready for the dancefloor.
