Like an ode to your Walkman and to those 90-minute tapes that you used to rewind with your pen, DA BREAK's first LP was all about Funk & Hip Hop 90's flavors.
That album immediately found itself on playlists on all your favorite radios (Radio Nova, FIP, Couleur 3, France Inter, RFI, BBC 6…), and enabled Da Break to play live in major festivals and venues (Nuits Sonores, Nuits Zebrées Nova, Radiomeuh Festival, Woodstower, Festival de Marne, Hortus Live…).
This was completely unexpected, a major learning experience, and above all a lot of fun and gave the Lyon-based gang a whole lot of ideas for the next stage in their musical journey, propelling them towards new musical horizons: infectious riddims with grooving keyboard & guitar licks as their bedrock and free association leading them into jazz, broken beat, soul or disco vibes … During the creation of Let It Shine, all doors were wide open and all musical genres potentially welcome.
The production still has a « home made » feel to it, like the previous album, but with a modern, sonic twist when needed- a result of three years on the road together and new creative input from group members. Whether it be on a New York summertime roof-top, or settled in a Low-Rider with some G-Funk, or moving to some phat Jamaican style bass-lines or getting sensual on a tight breakbeat, lead singer Hawa knows how to shine her feminine and versatile brilliance on the project. She gives to the songs the final touch and the emotion needed to share with us her stories about human relationships - everyday tales sharing her real life-experience. This ever-expanding musical spectrum, Da Break play with it, explore it and also let it kick completely free at times ! Song after song, they bring a magic glow to LET IT SHINE.

The trio consisting of Montreal-based Le Makizar and Paris-based brothers Parental & Lex finally teams up again to present their new album "Résonance". La Fam Ill is a multi genre, alt Hip Hop album, featuring a heavy dose of classic old school beats that weave their way from bouncy dub & upbeat guitar led funk beats, to modern electro infused hip hop underpinned with dirty synth lines. With a different producer on every track there is a plethora of musical styles all tied together with the T’s. Too Many T’s showcase buoyant playful tongue in cheek lyrics teaching us not to take life too seriously with their notorious back-to-back double-time raps, whilst sitting comfortably alongside much deeper and more reflective song writing. This is an album that travels the world both figuratively, and literally. La Fam Ill’s journeys reflect those of the band’s protagonists, Leon and Ross, floating effortlessly through a forest of stories both lived and witnessed – the effects of climate change, class warfare, and the difficulties of maintaining friendships as we grow up. Each track has its own special twist created by the colossal lineup of French Hiphop artists including: Atili, ASM, Chill Bump, Chinese Man, Djar One, Form, Hippocampe Fou, La Fine Equipe, MB14, Proleter, Pumpkin & VinS Da Cuero, Smokey Joe & The Kid and Yoshi Di Original.

This previously unreleased French Rap album was produced by Don Philippe and DJ Friction for Philippe's project "No Sé" before they started working on the first Freundeskreis album. No Sé had a big summer hit in France in 1995 with the release of the single "Quelle Aventure" featuring Menelik. The pre-productions began in 1995 and the vocals were recorded in Paris in early 1996. Due to complications with the french label it was never released.
