It’s time to wake up to 1morning if you haven’t yet. “Modus Operandi” is the perfect spot to hop on board. The been-up-and-rising techno producer and DJ based in Los Angeles has been jetset all over the US playing parties coast to coast, dropping releases like his cannonball of a self-released EP “transitions”, an upcoming split EP with Céilí on Mála Ádh, and steady staying on the remix grind. His DJ sets are all-vinyl, in conversation with the adventurousness, hypnotic tunes, pro-blends-but-keeping-it-raw mixing style of US techno DJ greats Robert Armani, DJ Rush, Joey Beltram, etc. This is no-bullshit, no-business, all-thriller techno for the real ravers. Not a throwback, this is the continuation of Legacy. Turn up, hydrate up, stay up.

It's a numbers game for Selections's 11th release as they welcome 4004 to the label for a sublime four-track outing. 'Mother' is as deep as house music gets and is steeped in US traditions and smoky basement atmospheres with candle-lit chords and fragments of soulful vocals. 'Father' then rides on bumpy drums but swirling Rhodes and dusty hits keep it pure vibes. 'Sister' ups the ante once more with chord vamps and a loopy low end that works you into a steamy lather and finally 'Brother' then cuts loose and dreamy pads and an aching vocal snippet and hints of gospel. Four tasteful house gems, all in all.

We have gathered again to present you a full body of work by Austin Bascom who goes under the moniker Abacus. The gentleman has created a lot of unique works for the people to enjoy starting from the 90’s and till this day. Recently the artist had a string of fantastic releases in our current years of 2020+ as well. This time he was kind enough to dedicate his time and effort to the dome of Sakskøbing. We witness the four deep cuts of house music in the way how deep house needs to be done in our honest opinion. Start of from “Chi-Town Stories” and the stories it brings to the ears and the mindset, straight after witnessing “Chillin’ Woman” with amazing vocals by Mz. Mosea which has been recorded in 1994, then bringing in the “Mourning Sun” and to conclude wrapping yourself under a warm blanket of “Hyggë”. I hope this work of soul and passion will bring you nice feelings as it did to us. Don’t forget to tell your loved ones that you love them. Thank you, Abacus for the emotion you have given to all of us listeners and music lovers.

UK artist David Duncan recorded only one EP as Ability II but it is one of those which has become an utter cult classic and much sought-after 12". The story goes that the bassline on this one was so deep the mastering engineer had a problem cutting it. There is no evidence of it on this reissue though - that bassline powers the tune perfectly as the plunging kick drums and dancing synths get you moving your body. Perfectly deployed vocals bring heart-aching soul as this most warm and dubby cut drowns you in timeless deep techno. Next to the gorgeous original mix is an extended dub for even more drawn-out late-night dance floor pleasures.

On side A, Adam Stegemann presents a stunning new mix of a timeless classic. Stegemann’s No Control Mix is a nine and half minute sing-along party starter and end of night club burner. A Brooklyn based producer, key player and disco DJ since 2006, Stegemann was coaxed out of semi-retirement in 2019 spurned largely by the purchase of a used Ensoniq Mirage sampler. He is currently producing under aliases Video Burnout and My Left Speaker among others yet to be revealed.

Universal Cave brings up the B side with two dubby, downtempo, disco groovers perfect for when any ray of light feels too bright and the walls are starting to move. Up All Night is dedicated to Philadelphia’s legendary Making Time parties, and Too Much is a nightlife testimonial for the ages.

We are supporting the music of the Fognini Brothers ever since they put themselves on the map of the international electronic music scene. Similar as it is the case with us, Mind Against also select their output very carefully and this also reflects in their DJ sets that can be long and challenging at times. Like their sets also their discography speaks for itself; with a variety of originals, remixes and collaborations, that are not bound to one genre, Alex and Freddie already left a mark in the more melodic realm of techno and house and are continuing to do so in full force. We are happy to have them on board and it is great to see that their interpretation of our 'Home' is so well received.

Agents Of Time are back on Afterlife with the Midnight Drive In Santiago EP, following their debut Forest Of Lies in 2018. Known for their distinct, synth-driven take on electronic music, the duo showcase their production prowess with four tracks that demonstrate their ability to tap into your emotional centre with varying styles. ‘Santiago’ is the melodramatic opener with its mesmerising melodic riff and bright layered synth work. ‘Midnight Drive’ takes us for a meandering moonlit spin in a shiny black Chevrolet Corvette. ‘Chain Reaction’ utilises an insistent rhythm and emotive pads to hypnotise you and draw your emotions to the surface. French duo Baraka present their first eponymous EP. Dive into their cathartic universe in which they celebrate their love for club culture using powerful TR8s, incisive break beats, synthetic layers inspired by trance and trip-hop as well as cavernous female voices.

This alliance of electronic music, 90’ aesthetics and dreamy undulations intertwine like the yin and yang and promise a mystical universe with futuristic imagery.

The story of Bella Boo is not one of overnight success, though of course it might appear as such, if you haven’t been somewhat embedded in the wonderful and weird world of Swedish club culture over the last 12 years or so, in which case you will know her as one of the most eclectic, informed and hardworking DJs on the scene. It wasn’t until last year’s Studio Barnhus debut, the Fire EP, that the world finally started talking about Bella’s extraordinary production skills – the record’s fuzzy r&b harmonics and snappy analog drums prompted Pitchfork to declare it “the flat-out dreamiest thing to come from the label yet”. This was followed quickly by boyboy, a universally beloved track on last year’s Studio Barnhus Volym 1 compilation, in which she “[drizzled] bluesy sweet nothings over elliptical scrapes and squelches, suggesting Matthew Herbert remixing St Germain” (Pitchfork again). Supervillain is Bella’s first solo release of 2019, a perfect three-track thing that sees the currently London-based artist continue to expertly straddle the fence between enigmatic dreamlands and groove-locked dance floors. B2 Recordings keeps it classy with another new deep house offering from label head Bengoa. It comes hot on the heels of his last outing here in December but this time all three tracks are straight-up solo cuts with no featured guests. 'Hustler's Convention' is an emotionally intense humid, steamy cut even though the grooves are warm and hypnotic. 'Apollo' has more raw percussion and scratchy drum textures overlaid with trippy vocals and last of all is 'Fanatic,' which pairs leggy bass and drums with more swirling vocal samples and interesting broken beat patterns. Another fine outing from Bengoa then.

Following its release in 1997, ‘Remember Me’ was cemented as an international dance hit, peaking at #8 in the UK singles charts, as well as #2 in the American Dance Chart. Instantly recognizable for the iconic Marlena Shaw vocal samples and down-tempo chugging bassline, ‘Remember Me’ has gained cult status throughout the world as a dance-floor classic. Releasing the original over 20 years ago, the incomparable track has only received one previous official remix with Dutch producer and DJ, Franky Rizardo now injecting new life into an already seminal track also. The Dutch imprint has now asked non-other than David Penn to add his magic to this sure-fire repeat player! Madrid based David Penn get to grips with the Blue Boy classic and the results are spectacular! Some of you may have already heard it on David’s recent Live lockdown streams all over social media?! Now you have been hand-picked to help break this house anthems!

Much could be said about German house royalty Boris Dlugosch. From his teen DJ years under the wings of Front’s legendary Klaus Stockhausen in Hamburg to his own marvelous tenure there that is pretty much synonymous with the explosion of Acid House in its proto- and post-incarnations. One could examine his role as a herald of US garage and Jersey house or as a remixer of underground gone pop records. But we will leave that and other stories for the Front page soon. The “Traveller EP” is the result of Dlugosch and Cassara meeting at a mutual friend of theirs, getting excited about their shared love for classic synths (see Sh-101 for the Traveller bass line) and exploiting the latter’s extensive synth collection. What you get: classic disco, French house, electro-funk, DJ sound effects (that tractor plowed the Front EVERY night) and most of all fun, fun and a little bit of extra fun. Chin-stroking impossible.…

Rawax welcomes Ferdinand Steinbacher aka Brevis Bounce to the artist family! We are very happy to present you this great talent Housewax. After joining a Rawax micro Garden Festival with Move D, Ferdinand went home and started (impressed from David's set) to jam. He uploaded the video on social media. Luckily we saw it and asked him to make us some tracks - the result is his first vinyl release called "Vibrant Remedy" which will be out in January.

Cocada, a project which emerged as a diffuser of the musical talent present throughout Latin America, quickly spread its sounds to the four corners of the world, becoming a great initiative for electronic music. We couldn’t be happier by this time, Cocada’s first release as a record label is born with some respected artists and a beautiful story behind. The wonderful artwork was illustrated by the Brazilian artist Paula Dornelles, who dedicates herself to the production of experimental artworks, she was able to convey through all her creative potential the depth of the meaning present in the word “freedom", a small sample of Latin American talent also in the visual arts. On the album, who begins the work is the Brazilian duo, Diogo Vaille and Marcelo Abreu aka Bruce Leroys, with “Liberdade” (Original Vocal Version), a rework of a classic MPB song. The artists managed to perfectly merge the melancholy voice present in the song with a deep and dense bass line, bringing all the emotion present in the lyrics, causing goosebumps. However, the duo isn’t alone in this release. None other than Ricardo Villalobos has also left his trademark with a great remix, featuring fuller grooves and inserting multiple textures for the track.

Back on Lüüd Discs for his first EP, Bwi-Bwi signs four tracks with rich and varied influences that plunge us into the atmosphere of his universe. Canto Soulèu.

London's Chocky joins the Dessous Recordings label and shares four tracks of sublime house music on Steve Bug's imprint. 'Self Knowledge' is a deep, techy roller clocking it at nearly 10 mins - plenty of space to expand into its full potential - the groove grows ever more hypnotic and engaging as the track unfolds. Next up is 'A Reefa' - a non too subtle reference to a certain herb that might have inspired this loose yet highly funky deep house jam. 'Casa De Estrela' changes the vibe up with a more direct and jacking track - even though it would work at prime time, Chocky's feel for space and drama make sure the track will be heard in many diverse surrounding and sets this year.
