Now, after ten years of work inside the Russell library, Lee and Knutson bring us Iowa Dream, yet another bright star in Russell’s dazzling constellation. Blazing with trademark feeling, these nineteen songs are a staggering collection of Russell’s utterly distinct songwriting. Features contributions from downtown NYC musicians ERNIE BROOKS, RHYS CHATHAM, HENRY FLYNT, JON GIBSON, PETER GORDON, STEVEN HALL, JACKSON MAC LOW, LARRY SALTZMAN and DAVID VAN TIEGHEM, along with PETER BRODERICK, who makes a contemporary addition to this list: more than forty years after Russell recorded several nearly finished songs, Broderick worked diligently with Audika to complete them, and performed audio restoration and additional mixing. Sun Of The Dying is a Spanish Doom/Death Metal band, with its roots set on 90’s music as My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost or Anathema, and adding a more modern sound taken from Shape of Despair, Ahab or Swallow the Sun. SUN OF THE DYING starts in 2013 as a side project between Casuso and Lavín beside their main bands (Apocynthion and CrystalMoors). In 2015 the band is completed and they start recording their first album. After some changes, in 2017 Sun of The Dying gets a stable line up that remains until today. In april of that year 'The Roar of the Furious Sea’ is released by the mexican label Throats Productions, recorded and mixed by the band members and mastered by Fede Pajaro. Throats Productions edits the album, the cover is designed by Israel Pato and the artwork is made by Tumulus and Crafts.

Music of Many Colours is a joint album between Roy Ayers and Fela Kuti, recorded after a three week tour of Nigeria’s major cities in 1979, during which Roy Ayers performed as the opening act for Fela’s band. The two artists decided to record the album as a round-up to the tour.

Roy Ayers describes the experience saying, “I met Fela Kuti in Nigeria in 1979, and we fell into a great relationship, good personal and music vibes, and we recorded that album together. Fela also came to USA in the eighties and we performed at NYC's Madison Square Garden. Amazingly energetic, Fela Kuti had a very original concept that was called Afro Beat – a genre with a very unique identity and exceptional music. One of Fela Kuti's most impressive qualities was that he was undeniably a brilliant show man, as a musician and as a huge dancer as well. His African concept was truly original… The tour was about two black men together coming together, one from Africa and other from USA, a very exciting collaboration."

A second compilation of rarities and oddments from The Revillos! vaults!So many years after the demise of The Revillos, can there be any music rotting in the vaults that hasn't already been regurgitated? I thought we had pretty much exhausted our spare tunes with the From the Freezer CD back in 1996. But, shortly before he passed away, I convenedwith guitarist Kid Krupa to review some of our still-parked material, and we were encouraged enough to the exercise.As we made our selection, the brief we gave ourselves was to not present yet more versions of our already over-represented songs like Motorbike Beat or whatever, but instead to showcase as many rare, bizarre, unreleased out-takes or alternative versions as possible. This compilation has only been possible by sifting through every one of my boxes of tapes from the shed and the attic to rediscover such oddities. I also checked tracks from some other band members and associates. Understandably, the sonic quality of most of this material reflects its provenance, yet their patent rarity warrants these tracks' inclusion: indeed, almost all the material is culled from solitary existing cassette sources. With a lot of damage, including glitches, drop-outs and missing sections, many of these performances were only preserved owing to the digital diligence of Kid Krupa; plus post-production work by myself and Vince Santini; with further mastering tricks squeezed out by Turan Audio in Oxford. The band line-up was quite fluid across the timeframe of these recordings, which were captured between 1979 and 1994 but, generally, Eugene contibutes vocals and sax, Fay sings and plays Farfi sa and I play Premier drums on all tracks. Additionally, all songs feature Kid Krupa on guitar and Vince Santini on bass unless otherwise noted. Backing vocals are supplied by Revette Cherie, joined by either Babs or Drax - except for Scuba Scuba and I Wanna Be Your Man - which feature Frankie and Polly Revette.So - ladies and gentlemen of the jukebox jury - is this project a val...

Club Internacional dig deep to launch their new global reissue series in style with two long lost cuts from Rio-based label Top Tape. First up is Jose da Silva aka Zeca Do Trombone. A massively respected instrumentalist, he has worked his trade over the years with many of Brazil's leading artists such as Tim Maia, Milton Nascimento, Elizeth Cardoso, Beth Carvalo, Martino Da Vila, Gonzaguinha and Carlos Dafe amongst others. He also produced a very much sought after LP in 1976 alongside Roberto Sax which was finally re-released this year on Mad About Records. Tema Do Brisa dates from a few years later in 1978 and is Zeca's only solo 45 single. Never released on digital and never reissued on vinyl before, it is with great pleasure that Club Internacional re-launch this psychedelic jazz and heavily funk influenced gem with its still stunningly fresh sounding drum patterns to a new generation of listeners.

The Plugs I Met, which was released on compact disc in late July, features collaborations with Pusha T, Jadakiss, Conway, RJ Payne, Alchemist and Daringer. Dark Day is the brainchild of Robin Crutchfield, a New York City based musician, performance artist, and writer. Robin’s musical path began in 1977 when he formed the no wave group DNA with Arto Lindsay and Ikue Mori. In 1979 Crutchfield left DNA to pursue his more synthesizer-based solo project. He released the ‘Hands In The Dark’ 7” followed by two albums, ‘Exterminating Angel’ in 1980 and ‘Window’ in 1982. In 1984 he re-launched Dark Day as an acoustic chamber ensemble performing ethereal soundscapes and self-released two cassette albums “Obsession” and “Beyond The Pale”. ‘Darkest Before Dawn' is a collection of 13 songs recorded between 1985-86, released on CD in 1989 that have never been pressed to vinyl before. The album is a lost medieval collection of pagan tunes for private ceremonies. Played on echoey pipe organ backed by saw-like rhythmic cello lines and melodic woodwind recorder, driven by the beats of rattles, bells, and drums. These simple, cyclical layered instrumental rounds owe much to the inspiration of Moondog as well as the efforts of the Penguin Cafe Orchestra and Dead Can Dance. The original press release stated, “Serious gothic organ works which cross Captain Nemo's Nautilus pipe organ with the standing stones of Stonehenge and reminisce Babylonian battle hymns and Egyptian burial ceremonies.” All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in jacket featuring illustrations from Thomas Bewick’s ‘Vignettes’ and includes a double sided insert with photos and notes.

Out November 8th on Don Giovanni Records, Analog Fluids of Sonic Black Holes is a new full-length by Philadelphia-based artist, poet, and musician, Camae Ayewa, who performs under the name Moor Mother. A sonic black hole is a place where fluid moves so fast that it traps all sound. To be entangled in its gravity is to feel the pressure of an unjust system -- corruption so powerful that it drowns out whatever you throw at it. Analog fluids are resistance -- individuals who work to create and preserve community in the face of immense darkness and cosmic pressure.
