While digging for music at Snickars records in Stockholm, local producer, DJ and promoter Maya Lourenco aka Parallax Deep came across two classic goa/psy tracks. These were ‘Gobi Desert’ by 100th Monkey & Tristan (released on Matsuri Productions in 1995) and ‘Bunker’ by Four Carry Nuts (released on Aurinko Records in 2000). She took the records home and began working on creating her own edits by expertly slicing and re-arranging different sections of the tracks and coming up with her own unique versions staying true to the original identity, giving new life to two classics from decades past.

Back In print! Rockius of Levitatum is a collection of live performances by the 13th Floor Elevators that should be familiar to many fans and collectors; three songs were from a 1966 taping of the Texas TV music series Sump N' Else (the tracks also appear on the box set Sign of the 3 Eyed Men), four come from the notorious 1967 Houston Music Theater concert where some members of the band were experiencing bad LSD trips on-stage (the full show can be heard on the album Live Evolution Lost), and the remainder come from a blazing set the Elevators played at San Francisco's Avalon Ballroom in 1966 (which can also be found on the album Avalon 66 and in the Sign of the 3 Eyed Men box). While the selection of material seems curiously random (and all of it can be found elsewhere), those with an interest in the 13th Floor Elevators' history as a live act will get a decent sampling of their concert legacy with this compilation.

A real dance ﬂoor anthem, 2000 and One’s vocal house hit ‘Wan Poku Moro’ was initially released as part of his 2009 ‘Heritage’ album on 100% Pure. The track is now getting a reissue as a single, with two new versions pressed on wax via Rekids, an edit from label boss Radio Slave and a remix from Riva Starr. On the A-side, Radio Slave extends ‘Wan Poku Moro’’s original eight minutes of hyped-up hands-in-the-air house music to the ten-minute mark with Snatch! Records’ Riva Starr remixing the track on the B-side. He returns to Rekids for the ﬁrst time since his EP with Mark Broom as Star B and reimagines 2000 and One’s track into a late-night warehouse groover, trading its organic percussion for tight, techy drums but maintaining the original’s infectious energy and earworm vocals.

2000F is the postal code of Frederik Birket-Smith’s hometown of Frederiks-berg. Since the early 1990s he has worked under the alias as producer, composer, promoter and DJ. He is now the CEO of Strøm, Denmark’s official electronic music organisation, co-owner of the Jolene Bar club, the event organisation OHOI!, and the Fyraftensboogie sound system.

The two-tracker finds the artist both deepening his expansive sound and honing it to weave seamlessly into any DJ set. “tincture / MY Simulacra” solidifies the cinematic textures and rusty low-end percussive drive of 2lanes’ earlier releases this year, “Diamond Rain Ep'' & “Sid Ranger Redux EP.” Spending much of this past year on the road, 2lanes dove headfirst into the contemporary electronic music world, meeting an array of new and exciting producers, some of which are featured remixers on this release. On the A side, take a dose of Tincture and see just how far the rabbit hole goes. Inspired by raving all night with friends, 2lanes linked with Detroit-based singer Akillaco for a wild talking track like none other. We all know those moments at the party when both nothing and everything makes sense. You want to be prophetic but you just make everyone laugh. You think about the past, future, & present all at once. This is the ultimate message of Tincture, which Akillaco emphatically points out. The long-winded musing is underlined by a heavy swung style beat that 2lanes fans have come to know well. Frequent 2lanes collaborator Salar Ansari joins the fun for the steamy, guitar-laden Howling Diablo remix that could as easily be played at a forest rave as a sleazy dive bar a la Coyote Ugly. Purelink’s Millia reduces the solution to an even dubbier chill out mix that begs to be played in the early mornings. On the B side, we have the bass-heavy vision quest MY Simulacra. Ancient percussion meets modern sub bass–and together, they transport you to a new plane of being. This track also features performances from a few regular 2lanes sonic cohorts. Detroit keyboard prodigy Ian Fink (Scott Grooves Ensemble, Omar S) evokes celestial moments with a memotron solo, and Jonah Baseball (Overtone Series) provides a stargate-sounding break beat. MY Simulacra features two amazing remixes. The First is from Baltimore-based club aficionado Jialing and the second is a prime cut of rough and ready machine phunk from Los Angele’s 1morning. Initially recorded at 2lanes’ home studio over Halloween in 2021, Tincture has since evolved to its final form that we see now. The tune has even shown up in sets from electric selectors like Scott Zacharias and Livwutang. 3 Men Gone Mad were an independent group formed in Blackburn and Darwen in the UK. They fused electronic sounds with rock and were prolific in the 1990s when they became cult favourites amongst those who know. You Try is a much sought-after collection that has been restored by Utopia Records many years after it made its way onto John Peel's 1991 Festive 50. He heard in it a mix of The Clash, Joy Division and Talking Heads and that still rings true. The main mix has a raw energy that captures the angst of Britain at the time - and still today, frankly. A spaced-out dub brings a fresh feeling of euphoria and an extended B-side mix draws out this record's undeniable pleasures.
