Madlib is a highly regarded and influential hip-hop producer and occasional rapper, who has left his distinct and stylized sound on classic tracks and critically beloved albums by the likes of MF DOOM (Madvillain), J Dilla (JayLib), Talib Kweli (Liberation), Georgia Anne Muldrow (Seeds), and more. Madlib's collaborations with rapper Freddie Gibbs (Piñata & this year's Bandana) are some of the most acclaimed hip-hop records of the past decade, and his various DJ mix compilations (Madlib Medicine Show, Beat Konducta) have earned high praise from a vareity of journalistic sources. Oh No is a rapper and producer who has left his mark across a wide swath of releases. His 2006 concept album Exodus Into Unheard Rhythms (Which exclusively sampled the works of musical theatre composer Galt MacDermot) was highly acclaimed upon its release, as well as his various crate-digging DJ mix projects (Dr. No’s Oxperiment, Dr. No’s Ethiopium). The A-Side, "Record Store" is an ode to the 'sacred temple for the analog enthusiast'. Teekay and legendary New York emcee J-Live take you through the dusty shelves of your average digging spot, over a smooth bossa nova-inspired banger produced by DJ Cosm and Metawon.

The B-Side, "Fli Beat Patrol" is produced by renowned French beat maker Djar One, and takes the listener through a genealogy of hip hop beats starting from the 1960s, emphasizing that you 'wouldn't have rap without funk and soul'. This uptempo track pays homage to hip hop greats like Flava Unit and Juice Crew, featuring a funky groove combined with cuts by DJ Cosm and a catchy ear worm hook that will probably get stuck in your head!

About Dragon Fli Empire: Since 2002, the dynamic duo of Teekay (MC) and DJ Cosm has been bringing their own brand of beats and rhymes, inspired by the greats like Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Gang Starr, A Tribe Called Quest, The Pharcyde, and De La Soul. The pair has toured across Canada, France, Belgium, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Denmark, and parts of the US. DFE has released four full-length albums and several EPs as a crew in addition to numerous solo projects, and are currently working on their fifth album, "Class In Session".

Hardcore collectors will know IBM Nation from their 1990 grail the Brainiac EP which dropped on small indie label Inner City Recs back in the deezy. Unfortunately Mac G had a couple of his crazy nice solo demo tapes stolen from his studio by a shady acquaintance. Those tapes appeared on Ebay shortly afterwards and sold for crazy loot [2k+]. We’re hoping that one day the new owner of those 1992 – 1994 demo tapes will hit us up to share them with the fans, on a limited vinyl Herring release. But what we do have here are his extra dope unreleased mid 90’s demos. Peep the snippets and we’ll be back 1st week of January with the final vinyl release of the Dec/Jan Cycle as well as 4 new CD releases. Endangered Species' “Intangible” was an underground classic released in 1999 on cassette in a very limited run, when word got out this music somehow spread from Calgary throughout Canada to Chicago, Australia, Europe & beyond. The producer / MC combo of Nohow & Infinite P produced the record on the ASR-10 in their dusty home studio using records & a Roland digital 8 track. The only guest appearances were from Agape (Isosceles) who also produced "Fortified Aorta" & DJ Vinroc (5th Platoon / Triple Threat DJ’s), a song they recorded on tour. 21 years later this record finally gets it’s proper reissue treatment on vinyl, cassette and digitally.

Crane City Music is proud to release Bobby Ro$$ from accomplished Seattle rapper and visual artist Perry Porter. His first full-length, Bobby Ro$$ is a vibe-heavy hustle through the landscape of art, blackness, and self-love. On it, he inhabits the alter ego of Bobby Ro$$, the trap music avatar of the much-loved PBS painter, Porter uses snippets of interviews with cultural luminaries such as Kara Walker, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Maya Angelou as a narrative lattice to paint himself into the canon of black art.

Originally from Tacoma, Washington—by way of rural Spanaway—Porter grew up playing drums and rapping over his own beats. His first foray into hip-hop was as half of buzzy local duo Sleep Steady, who received much acclaim in the Pacific Northwest and placed two songs in major video game titles (EA Sports UFC 2 and Cyberpunk 2077). He has since released several solo mixtapes, including 2018’s critically-acclaimed Channel Surfing mixtape.

As a visual artist, Porter’s dreamlike watercolor portraits and lush murals have been shown in galleries across the country. His notable collectors include several NFL Seahawks players. He incorporates live painting into his performances and is currently planning a 30-city pop-up painting tour of record stores for Spring 2020.

Bobby Ro$$ is the seventh record in the Crane City Music collection, a library of the hottest recent hip-hop albums from the Pacific Northwest on wax. The record assembles a wide variety of Seattle- and Tacoma-area talent, including producers Chong The Nomad, Jamie Blake, and Khris P, alongside rappers Blake Anthony, Romaro Franceswa, and Jarv Dee. The Crane City “Black Excellence” edition of Bobby Ro$$ is limited to 250 copies on black vinyl and features a cover designed by visual artist Izzy Vibes and liner notes by music journalist Martin Douglas.

Perry Porter has opened for national touring artists such as Joey Badass, SuperDuperKyle, and The Flavr Blue, and performed to sold-out crowds at 2019’s Capitol Hill Block Party music festival.
