Brooklyn-based rapper Half-A-Mill climbed his way up from the underground in the late ‘90s with an initial breakthrough on 1997’s one and only album by The Firm, the supergroup featuring Nas, AZ, Nature and Foxy Brown, alongside producers Dr. Dre and the Trackmasters.

After this high-profile appearance, Half-a-Mill then started setting the stage for the release of his debut album “Milíon” with the single ”Thug Ones" which featured Noreaga, Kool G Rap, and Musolini. “Milíon” became an underground classic, featuring guest appearances by AZ, Kool G Rap, Musalini, Noreaga, Ali Vegas and Spice 1, with production by Just Blaze, The Neptunes, DJ Scratch, and DJ Ali among others.

Tragedy struck in 2003 when the rapper was shot dead at his home in Brooklyn. Tuff Kong now proudly moves to keep his legacy alive by releasing Milíon on vinyl for the first time ever.

Hardcore Reps were a three man crew from Far Rockaway, Queens made up of two brothers Damian and Majestic along with beat maker and producer Angelo “A.N.G.” Foukas. They never released a project on their own and just featured on Angelo’s 1996 instrumental album on the only two tracks with vocals. Angelo was introduced to the brothers way back in the early 90’s through a mutual friend.. He played them a few of his instrumentals and the boys were suitably impressed and they made a few demo tapes in 1994 that they passed around local heads. They never pursued a deal and just used the tapes to get some recognition among their peers. The demo tapes have been in a much demand and only a few have survived. We have five joints from those tapes, remastered from the original studio DATs and three tracks that have never surfaced before. The two joints from that 1996 inst album are on here but slightly different versions. Big up to my man Dougpark for the hook up – Dougpark provided the connect for the excellent Speakeasy demos we dropped a couple years back. And before anyone says it’s Full Proof not Fool Proof, no it isn’t. Enjoy!!

Strictly limited edition of 500 copies of "From The Levels Below", the 1995 self-distributed debut release of the Harleckinz (Big Sal, Doubleface and Boogieman) from Berlin, Germany.

The press profile that was originally accompanying the vinyl release stated the following:

"Harleckinz was founded in 1989 in Berlin, Germany. The group consists of three rappers, as well as a D.J., aged 19-23. The Harleckinz are multicultural and multilingual with ethinical backgrounds: American (New York), German, Jamaican, Spanish, and Turkish. The music has potential to embrace an underground, as well as mainstram audience due to it's strong beats on one hand, and soulfoul, melodious accompaniment on the other hand. Lyrics and music are solely written / produced by the Harleckinz.

As far as it is known, Harleckinz is the first German HipHop act seriously attempting to internationalize the rap music scene by intentionally seeking a record contract / career in the U.S. and simultaneously or subsequently promoting their anyhow made name throughout Europe's, precisely Germany's, flourishing HipHop community. The Harleckinz have performed in the U.S. and Germany with celebrities such as Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, K7, D.J. Kool Herc and Zhane (see performances)."

In the years after the Harleckinz hit the charts with 2 singles and released their one and only album "Now We Are Talkin'" in 2000, followed by a KMC crew album in 2002 via Universal.

To us, "From The Levels Below" is still one of the best Hip Hop records ever been produced in Germany. Next to the vinyl reissue the release is also made available digitally for the very first time.

under the Backwoodz umbrella. Cool Side of the Pillow is entirely produced by Henry’s longtime collaborator, Matt
“Bones” Bowen, with guest features from billy woods and Homeboy Sandman. It’s a project that finds Henry putting
his effortless flows to the test over Bones’ rangy production, flipping new styles with every changeup and beat switch.
“Cool Side didn’t start as an album,” Henry explains, “Bones and I started making random joints that were almost all
jazz/funk samples; I’d send him sample ideas and he would send me back a beat the next day”. It was a fun thing that
they talked about making into an EP, but was briefly shelved when Henry accepted an artists’ residency in Biarritz,
France in the fall of 2016. After the residency was completed, Henry returned to the project with new perspective. “I
was still in France, and in a different place mentally, physically and emotionally. Also Bones’ production had taken a
darker, more pensive turn. What came out were reactions to being abroad and isolated during a time of upheaval at
home. This duality frames The Cool Side both artistically, and in it’s presentation. Side A and Side B reflects not just
the sides of the vinyl, but the tensions between past and present, between the ideal and the real.

After 25 years of living his dream as one of hip hop’s most respected producers, Hi-Tek is digging back into his roots with a brand new trio of instrumental vinyl LPs. “Werk Road (1997 MPC 60)” is the third volume of the series, each featuring a selection of restored and remastered beats, carefully chosen from an archive of DAT tapes. These LPs manage to both provide a window into Tek’s development and to shine light on the work of an already enormously talented musician whose beats would’ve sounded right at home on classic releases from the mid-1990s. 1997 is when the name Hi-Tek began to develop a global buzz, largely due to the combustible indie-rap scene. He’d moved on from the now-shuttered Beatbox Studios in his hometown of Cincinnati and began building his first proper home studio in his new apartment on Werk Road. With a borrowed Akai MPC 60 drum machine as the foundation, he began churning out beats at a more prolific rate than ever. In addition to placements on debut LPs by Mood and Royal Flush, Tek would make his name in 1997 as one-half of the duo Reflection Eternal with Brooklyn MC Talib Kweli. Their Rawkus Records debut 12” “Fortified Live” was an instant smash, and it quickly placed him at the top of the class of up-and-coming beatmakers. His unique balance of bassline-driven grooves behind soulful samples would eventually lead him to be in high demand for artists across the spectrum of the genre, and in short time he was producing for Common, Snoop Dogg, Raphael Saadiq, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, and others from all over the country. The work featured on “Werk Road (1997 MPC 60)” reveals an artist who would not only become one of the most respected producers in rap, but one of the cultural ambassadors of his home city of Cincinnati for over 25 years. Further expanding the GrilchyParty cinematic universe we have Da Buze Bruvaz own emcee supreme, Him Lo, collaborating with producer extraordinaire, Wino Willy on a new full length LP entitled GoDdon'tFU&KWitU. The first time they connected was a few years ago on a track entitled “Iverson” that Him Lo did to welcome Wino onto the team ahead of his debut, Welcome Home Brother Willy. This led to them continuing on and doing an EP which was eventually scrapped in favor of this full length. Wino Willy has been an extremely busy, in demand producer of late, working with artists such as Mach Hommy, Your Old Droog, Danielson and a myriad of others. Him Lo has also been consistently busy working with Giallo Point as Cognac Kingz and alongside his BUZE BRUVAZ partner in rhyme, Clever One.
