Substance810 is a MC/producer from Port Huron, Michigan who first made his mark in 2006 with his full-length debut The Definition under his original moniker Tekneek. He released a sequel album The Definition Of the previous summer & then a debut EP Chess Pieces a couple months later but to continue the grind, the man returning with his 7th full-length album.

The intro talks about being a risk-taker over a soulful boom bap instrumental from Substance810 himself whereas the next track “Crude Dialog” with Squeegie O sees the 2 talking about giving it to ‘em raw over a suspenseful beat. “The Purist” with Estee Nack finds the duo talking about hearing nothing but bars over some funky bass & a wailing sample while the song “Invisible Lines” with Pee Tzu sees the 2 talking about just that over a spooky beat from Wavy da Ghawd.

The track “Upper Echelon” talks about having the vibe that you love over a calm, drumless instrumental while the song “Fortified” talks about having razor blades in his jaw over an doomsday-esque beat. The underground hip-hop group Missin' Linx was led by Al Tariq (formerly the Beatnuts' Fashion) and also included Black Attack, and Problemz among its core ranks. Their debut single M.I.A. produced by Vic with the B-Side Lock’d, produced by Necro became an instant hit in the Hip Hop scene of the 90s. Using as sample from David McCallum called “The Edge” the song captured the ears of many fans and producers.

Everyone has heard Dr. Dre’s 2001, even if you aren’t a fan of rap music and the single “Next Episode” which was one of the most iconic songs of its decade. Before Dr. Dre released his version of the sample, another artist beat him to the punch. M.I.A. released by “Missin Linx” in 1998, almost a full year before Dr. Dre released his sample of the beat. The co-producer of the track, Mel Man frequently visited the Fat Beats LA store when the Missin Linx song was circulating.

The popular single is now available on seven inch for a limited time paying homage to the classic Hip Hop scene of the nineties.

for Record Store Day 2019 of her summer-inspired spontaneous mixtape-style project, I Don't Want: The Gold Fire Sessions via Downtown Records. Available physically for the first time on limited Colored Vinyl, including the two singles 'Run The Road' and 'Coo Coo Coo' on BBC Radio 6Music playlist. The mixtape was recorded with Mixpak Records producer and founder Dre Skull. Initially meeting in a writing session and bonding over their shared passion or Reggae and Afro-Caribbean music the pair became instant creative comrades, agreeing to explore their ideas for a mixtape which ultimately grew into a 10 song recording session, they came to call 'The Gold Fire Sessions'.

lLL Advised comprised of rappers Baby Blak, Mr. Lish, and occasionally Rasheed (aka Maylay Sparks) the crew put out a number of 12'inches in the mid-to-late 1990's on Quake City and later Eastern Conference Records.
Quake City is a label out of Philly. lLL Advised recorded two albums for them that were only released in Japan under the “Blue Dolphin” imprint. In the States Quake City Records released number of 12'inches from the Ill-Advised crew, the first being obscure “Against the Grain/Kwestions/Through the Eye", the second being the college radio hit "N.A.M.E.S./Encore", and the last two the "1.9.8.6/Internal Affairs" joint and another pressing with a remix featuring The Roots. lLL Advised were also featured heavily on the first or second Eastern Conference Records 12'inch with the songs "Captivating Cultivating", "All In Together Now" which featured Pauly Yams, and "Know A Little Nigga". Baby Blak is also featured on the original version of "Open Mic Night".
Unfortunately, the crew fell off the map in 1999 when Mr. Lish went on a "judicial vacation" somewhere "up north". There were a lot of problems with Quake City Records. The problems for the crew only magnified with Eastern Conference Records. Milo Berger, aka DJ Might Mi aka DJ Mighty Bi, never paid Ill Advised a dime for anything. Word on the street (and straight from Baby Blak’s mouth in an interview with Elemtree) was that they took Mi by force to an ATM machine and “intimidated” him into draining his account for them on the spot. Also, lLL Advised affiliate Rahsheed is said to have thrown a stack of Eastern Conference 12'inches into the Delaware River in the video for his track (and first release on Quake City Records) “Industry Party Bumrusha”.
lLL Advised has gotten their shit together somewhat as of late. Baby Blak put out a nice album in 2003 called “Blak Is Back”. Blak has also put out a lot of 12inches with DJ Revolution. He’s also done a lot of work with hip hop legend DJ Jazzy Jeff. Lish is supposedly out of jail and the duo are currently preparing their American debut on BBE records. Smoke On Records presents their 1997 CD only album “Can U Smell It!” for the first time on vinyl.

Olivier St.Louis (the artist formerly known as Olivier Daysoul) releases his 2nd EP to start 2017 with some melancholic vibes.

After releasing a collaborative EP with Warp's Bibio, who is also featured as a producer on “Ever since the fall”, this 2nd solo release by the Olivier St.Louis marks the starting point of worldwide liveshow efforts for Olivier 2017. After a successful UK Tour with Laura Mvula, Olivier is getting ready to join AnnenMayKantereit for another Tour in spring 2017 to support his upcoming release “Ever since the fall EP”, out on Jakarta Records in February 2017. Six tracks somewhere in between lo-fi soul, drum computer sounds, warm basslines and funk trenched live compositions. Olivier will also join his partner in crime Oddisee for his “The Iceberg” Wolrd Tour until summer.

Olivier St.Louis went on to receive significant international attention for his work as a featured singer/songwriter back then still under the name Olivier Daysoul. Limited edition copies on petrol green vinyl of Third Sight's album "IV". Third Sight is a hip hop group from the Bay Area consisting of D-Styles, Dufunk and Roughneck Jihad.

Fudge is a collaboration between emcee Michael Christmas and producer Prefuse 73. 'Lady Parts' is their debut album.

The record came together during several sessions in the summer and fall of 2015 at Nick Hook’s Green Point studio. Prefuse 73 brought along a hard drive full of beats. Christmas wrote to the instrumentals in the studio, and recorded the vocals the same day, as friends swung by to check it out. Some of the drop-ins at the studio ended up joining in the recording, not least D.R.A.M. who brings lifted soul vocals on “All Points South”.
