Prolific producer Stu Bangas is back with a new collection of hard-hitting collaborations on Death Wish (Part II), the much anticipated sequel to the 2021 original. The project finds the Boston beatsmith rocking with some of his favorite emcees of all time as well as familiar names who always seem to bring their best work to his instrumentals. For Stu, it’s an honor to work with the likes of Ras Kass and Psycho Les (of the Beatnuts). He made the connections while creating the phenomenal Empires LP with Eric Bobo (of Cypress Hill), and it led to the bangers you hear on Death Wish (Part II). The track with Ras, “Sus,” is an equally hilarious and hardcore takedown of weak-willed phonies, while Psycho Les teams with Celph Titled for the gangster-but-lighthearted “Y’all Clowns.” “I grew up on all the Beatnuts albums, my whole group of friends loved them,” Stu says. “And Soul on Ice by Ras Kass? That’s a certified classic for any hip-hop head.” The other tracks on Death Wish (Part II) include more standout features, from the shoulder-brushing raps of Ty Farris on “Of Course It’s Me,” to the appropriately titled “Feeling Brolic” with Recognize Ali & Mr. Lif. Stranger Danger from North East LA hit Chopped Herring up with a project and it completely blew them away. Ridiculous break selection from and drug-fueled, hedonistic comedy from MC's Denzer, X-press & Stranger. What a treat this one is. There is definitely more to come from Mr Danger in 2018, no doubt!!
Stranger Danger started producing in the year 2000 and his first beat machine was a Boss SP 505, but he always collected vinyl since as early as the age of five when his parents bought him the first Fisher Price, Toys R Us record player.
Danger started freestyling and writing rhymes in 1995, but didn't actually start recording or mixing until 2001. He formed tha Roach Killaz in 2016 after his younger cousin X-Press told him that he and his homie Denzer wrote and spit ill rhymes as well.
During this time Danger was recording at a friend’s studio called The Halfway House where he met a 20-year old MC and producer named Saker, who he took under his wing as his protege to help him with production on the album.
In another studio session shortly after meeting, Saker brought his homie named Duer, and that’s when the puzzle pieces aligned perfectly and they knew they had something special. All of their influences are very similar. If it sounds dope, then it is! Greatest influences growing up were MF Doom, Kool Keith, DJ Premier, Kutmasta Kurt, RZA, Apakalypse, Necro, and DJ's like DJ Shi'iteand DJ Rob One.
The recording process is simple, let Mc's go at it until you hear something that you feel can help them sound better, whether it be vocal fluctuation, vocal tone, cadence, or energy.
Too much pride is a “no no”, it's all about doing whatever it takes to make the illest records possible. Stranger Danger digs or listens to music from all era's and over the world and studies music for at least six to eight hours a day, so what keeps him inspired daily is the opportunity to find incredible samples to flip.
It's an obsessive disposer but therapeutic at the same time. He used to have small intense spurts of creating, but now it's an all the time thing as he works on three to four albums at the same time constantly and always tries to top the album he did last.

In every arts community, there are people who, despite being little known even to fans of the scene, are deeply embedded in its past and present. When it comes to NYC independent hip-hop, Joseph Fusaro aka Steel Tipped Dove is one of those people. Not only has he quietly made beats for everybody and their cousin but for more than fifteen years Dove has run a recording studio out of the same 2nd floor walk-up in Brooklyn, weathering gentrification and the proliferation of home studios alike. In that time, a wealth of artists have crossed his threshold; some famous, some forgotten, and many in between. Dove’s was always a place where you could schedule a last-minute session or have an out-of-town artist meet you at 1am after their show, no need to worry, Dove would be there. It’s a place that you drop by because you’re around the corner and end up leaving with a jump drive full of wild beats.

Call Me When You’re Outside is a testament to that energy: inspired collaborations with disparate artists from across the country and the indie music spectrum. The album features Elucid, billy woods, KeiyaA, The Koreatown Oddity, Pink Siifu, Shirt, Fat Tony, Fielded, Fatboi Sharif, and Skech185, and is entirely produced by Steel Tipped Dove. Mixed and mastered by Willie Green and executive produced by billy woods, Cmwyo not only speaks to Dove’s history in the scene but the vitality of his current work. He may have been in the game for a long time, but his beats have never sounded better and his vision as a producer has never been clearer. With that in mind, if you buy it directly from us the project comes with the full instrumentals, which are also included in the vinyl and CD versions. The “The Balancing Act” album title is inspired by the way Statik balances his responsibilities as a father, as an artist, as a producer and as a DJ. To execute his vision for the album cover, Statik enlisted famed designers Dom Dirtee and Tristan Eaton, whose work can be seen in the Museum of Modern Art's (MoMA) and has been featured across the world from Paris to Shanghai.

The album follows Statik’s collaborative album with Bun B in April 2019, when they famously teamed up to release TrillStatik – a joint album that was created entirely from scratch during an 11-hour livestream on YouTube. Prior to that release, Statik released a 2017 solo artist album, 8, which featured heavyweights like Run the Jewels, G-Eazy, Wiz Khalifa, Action Bronson, Wale, The LOX and Raekwon, among many others.

Earlier this year, XXL named Statik Selektah as one of the 48 Greatest Hip-Hop DJs of All-Time. As a producer, he’s known for his work on a slew of standout songs, including J. Three days after the WHO declared the
Covid-19 virus a global pandemic, and cities
across the country were weighing what steps
to take to contain its spread, Statik Selektah
and Termanology—who record together under
the name 1982—announced that they’d be
using the mandated time indoors to make a
new record. The album would be called The
Quarantine, and its creation would be livestreamed. They invited a dozen guest emcees
to join them in the studio—this was before
strict “social distancing” measures had been
imposed—conducted a marathon 11-hour
recording session, spent the rest of the night
mixing and mastering the record, and
dropped the finished product the next day.

The whispers of rebirth for the series stoked the fire of nostalgia in fans of former years, but simultaneously sparked a larger scheme in the Nashville based rapper, Spoken Nerd. Wheels turning, Nathan Conrad, aka Spoken Nerd, shared his ideas of cultivating a "Tales from the Crypt" mixtape to Cincinnati based producer, Juan Cosby. Surely the "on-brand" horror themed lyrics of Spoken Nerd would mesh seamlessly with the John Carpenter-esque beats by Juan to fuel fans of EC and, perhaps, catch the ears of EC themselves. Unfortunately, EC Comics went out of business in the 50's, and the internet rumors proved unfruitful of reboot, but the brainchild of Juan & Nerd's soldiered on. Much like the Crypt series, Grapes is an album that covers topics like deception, forbidden fruits, envy and sacrifice. You can hear features from E-Turn, Isaac Stinson, Darko the Super, MC Homeless and 247 of Out of Place on this project.

As a long-time fan of People Under The Stairs and Damu The Fudgemunk, this is a full-circle moment for Soul Supreme. He deejayed alongside Damu in the past, and he has shown his appreciation to both P.U.T.S. and Damu with various tribute mixes. Matter of fact, this release is a full-circle moment for any hip-hop head: this 45 marks the very first time Thes One and Damu can be heard on one record together.

In typical crate-digging fashion, Thes One flips key elements from Soul Supreme's "Taking The Stand" into a neck-snapping beat. The instrumental album version of "Taking The Stand" can be found on the B-side of this 45. The original is a beautifully melodic jazz-funk head-nodder featuring drums by Tamuz Dolev and a spirited guitar solo by Radiohop's Johnny Biner.

"Taking The Stand" originally appeared on Soul Supreme's highly acclaimed instrumental albumPoetic Justice. Released last year, the album channeled his ongoing legal battle with a Norwegian label that stole his music. Fresh off his latest collaborations withRaw Poetic, Damu The Fudgemunk hopped back on the mic for this remix to voice his displeasure about shifty record labels. This one blew my goddam socks off when I heard it. I hit up Rich who I'd been trying to connect with for years and he sent me this project by a group called Sore Loserz who never released a thing back in the day. Sore Loserz were So Devine - DJ/Producer and Skee The Y-Know [pronounced “wino”] the MC. "Ya Oughta Know" should have been the title of the debut album of Sons Of Sam, the Philly-based duo comprised of The Xav and PA-Kid. Here we have a collection of 12 tracks recorded between 1993 and 1994 plus the bonus track "Glass Eyes" from 1996.

Going back in time, Xav says, "The Sons Of Sam title is not what it seems. Everybody thought we were modeling ourselves after Charles Manson, the mass murderer of the 70s. Actually, the truth is that we are brothers who have a father named Sam. Easy as that. But we do manage to murder the mic from time to time, and an appropriate name would have been the Mic Manglers. We did our own tracks when we worked as individuals but when we were both on tracks together PA-Kid originally did the tracks. He could make any track fit both of our styles and if it didn't fit I would usually adapt to the style of the track. PA-Kid's original name was Samson, and I was called Xay. That was given to my by a fellow MC named Manifest in 1986 when I was his DJ. I started writing more and began recording my own tracks."
