This the song's first official reissue and its first appearance pressed on a 45. Both songs packaged in full color double sided cover art.

Known to many as the group Y Society, Insight the Truncator and Damu the Fudgemunk celebrate 10 plus years of friendship and a creative partnership that hold the two in high esteem of their fans. The MC & producer's new 7" is a compelling display of why the duo have always been at the top of their game despite their reserved output since debuting as a team in 2007.

Surprising the world at the top of the year with their full length, "Ears Hear Spears" was a great way to sound the alarm for the excitement of new activity. Selective by nature, Insight and Damu's calculations have served advantageous in making moves and presenting listeners with the right music at the right time. The latest incarnation of this truth can be heard in the previously unreleased b-side track entitled "Pyramids to the Ghetto." Although it was recorded in 2008, it was archived and remained unreleased until now. Now in 2017 this particular song couldn't be any more relevant in how the artists analyze the effects racism of the past & present and its correlation to black plight throughout the Americas (both Insight & Damu drop verses on this track).

Continuing narratives of such legends as Public Enemy and Jeru the Damaja in which the track title quotes, the group individually presents short essays in rhyme form that give a candid account of what they've witnessed as black U.S. citizens living in the 20th and 21st Century. Not only are the social effects on the table for examination, but the positive and negative impacts a racist society has had on black contributions to art and culture are discussed. For the songwriters, "Pyramids to the Ghetto" is therapeutic in which harsh realities are confronted in an unapologetic manner contrasting the previous socially charged material in Insight and Damu's back catalog.

For the listeners, it's a history lesson and a call to motivate us all that history doesn't always have to repeat itself even when it's been the norm for centuries. Adversity and oppression historically have hold some back and made some stronger, but acknowledgement is the first step of progression.

The A-Side, "Never Off (On & On)" speaks on just that. It's a roadmap to dealing with everyday adversity, maintaining faith in self and striving to reach your full potential. Insight presents sermons of encouragement to the everyday person over the Fudgemunk's uplifting beat. The producer chimes in on the chorus with a few words of his own that insists to keep on your path and never fall off. The old saying goes, "Life ain't easy", but the group knows success is not unrealistic. "Never Off (On & On)" was the debut single from the debut album, "Travel at Your Own Pace" which has remained a staple in Insight the Truncator's and Damu the Fudgemunk's legacy.

B-1 (aka One) has been in the game since the early 90's, but despite close ties to numerous well known rap artists and hip-hop luminaries his name remains relatively unknown to this day. Hailing from Queens, NY, B-1 gravitated towards hip-hop at a young age, influenced by his mother's eclectic musical tastes as well as the nearby block parties and park jams.
Citing Kool G Rap and Lord Finesse as major influences in picking up a pen and becoming an MC, B-1 spent a long time honing his craft on the down low before being featured on two tracks on Kool G Rap's 1995 album "4, 5, 6", alongside close associate MF Grimm. However this wasn't the first time for B-1 to work with one of his former idols as he already had the chance to record alongside Lord Finesse, Grimm and Freddie Foxxx in 1992, earning him a mention in the prestigious demo section of Rap Pages Magazine.
In the late 90's, B-1 went on to become one of the first artists to sign a deal with Rawkus Records and released a handful of successful underground records, several of which featured collaborations with none other than Large Professor. In 2000 the very gifted Queens MC went quiet, but never stopped recording new music. It was already 2012 when B-1 finally made a dope comeback on the Beneficence collabo track, "Rulez To The Game (Remix)", that also featured Harlem legend Herb McGruff.

Ill Adrenaline Records proudly presents a previously unreleased gem by B-1 & Large Professor entitled "Hands of Time". This track was recorded back in 1997 and meant to be B-1's first single on Rawkus. The "Brooklyn Side" of the 7" contains a dope demo track by O.C. & Da Beatminerz.

MC's Chem and Jah, from Washington Heights (ny) formed Trauma Squad when they were hooked up with a young producer named Om'Mas Keith by Raw Breed's business manager and co-producer Ariel Caban. Caban was in high school with the rappers and later went on to work in the A&R department of RCA Records at the same time as the 16 year old Keith was interning there. Caban told me "I introduced them to Om'Mas because both had unique styles. Trauma with their off the wall eclectic style and Om' Mas with his musical genius who can play every instrument. They hit it off well right from the jump and created the demo tape."

There was some interest prior to making their demo, from Profile and Sleeping Bag Records but nothing firm. Most of the demos weren't in great condition but 2 have been resurrected from the old demo tape for a little taster 7" of what this crew might've become. Recorded in 95, Herring presents 2 ill tracks from this unknown group's unknown catalogue. Enjoy yo!!

The A side features "Game Matters" with head nodding soulful production highlighting Awon's raw uncut rhymes, blended together with a catchy scratch hook. Track 2, "Paper Off My Pager" combines Elements of upbeat jazz infused production with Awon's vivid quick fire lyricism. Awon, "The 90s were really grimy and rigid, it was a different thought process of survival, getting money happened to be a part of that. While it sounds celebratory, Paper off my Pager is really a reflection of bad decisions on top of bad decisions that led me to rap for a living. The celebration is that I survived." The B side features a golden age inspired Elements remix for "Game Matters" which shines a new light on Awon's braggadocio flows and showcases razor sharp cuts over melancholic jazz piano and upright bass. Awon has racked up millions of streams and immense exposure as an independent artist, with a stellar catalogue of underground hip hop classics. He recently starred in "Underdogs", a documentary that chronicles his journey with Don't Sleep Records, the label he founded with production partner Phoniks, winning best music documentary at Dtla film festival and streaming now on Netflix. Elements production placements have seen his music covered by tastemaker publications like Lyrical Lemonade, Afropunk, Billboard magazine and NPR music. The pair work together to create a unique sound on "Game Matters" and "Paper off my Pager" available for the first time on vinyl.
