Three days after the WHO declared the
Covid-19 virus a global pandemic, and cities
across the country were weighing what steps
to take to contain its spread, Statik Selektah
and Termanology—who record together under
the name 1982—announced that they’d be
using the mandated time indoors to make a
new record. The album would be called The
Quarantine, and its creation would be livestreamed. They invited a dozen guest emcees
to join them in the studio—this was before
strict “social distancing” measures had been
imposed—conducted a marathon 11-hour
recording session, spent the rest of the night
mixing and mastering the record, and
dropped the finished product the next day.
Fittingly, the album’s cover depicts the
elements that presumably were involved in its
creation: a surgical mask, gloves, hand
sanitizer, a pen, a rhy. This is the Black Vinyl.

Enyoutee is the DJ behind the No Ideas Original Radio Show on 91.3fm WVKR in
Poughkeepsie, NY. He is also the artist who brought together Fresno's finest, Planet
Asia, and DITC's next gen repper Milano Constantine, for this dope project. This
5-track extended player is chock full of that Golden Era Hip-Hop heads can't get
enough of. The tightly woven wordplay here is likely to take multiple listens to truly

Fred The Godson gave listeners a couple drums in 2019 on his collab album with Joell Ortiz, Gorilla Glue. The effort was well-received by fans and critics alike. For over 20 years, Atmosphere have pursued the underbelly of what it means to be human with a rabid curiosity. Ant’s dusky production has provided the pulse for Slug’s evolving and matter-of-fact pen. On Whenever, the duo continue to move in lockstep. During the past decade, the Chicago-based multiinstrumentalist and producer, NNAMDI, has quietly become one of the most prolific musicians of the modern era. Whether under his own name or one of the many bands he's spent time in, either as a full-on member or merely a touring partner, there's been an endless stream of music that NNAMDI has had his hands in. Pair that with the fact he co-owns his label, Sooper Records (KAINA, Sen Morimoto), and it'd be easy to wonder how he finds time to do anything other than make music. On BRAT, the follow-up to 2017's critically acclaimed DROOL, NNAMDI removes the veil to show just how much effort and energy it takes to work at such a high level without any breaks. That process of finding a balance between NNAMDI the performer and Nnamdi Ogbonnaya the person is what fuels BRAT, an introspective record that's still as dexterous and exciting as anything that's come before, but is intimate and hushed, commanding a listener's full attention from the very start. Like all things he's done before, BRAT proves that genre classifications don't really work here. Crane City Music is proud to release Bobby Ro$$ from accomplished Seattle rapper and visual artist Perry Porter. His first full-length, Bobby Ro$$ is a vibe-heavy hustle through the landscape of art, blackness, and self-love. On it, he inhabits the alter ego of Bobby Ro$$, the trap music avatar of the much-loved PBS painter, Porter uses snippets of interviews with cultural luminaries such as Kara Walker, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Maya Angelou as a narrative lattice to paint himself into the canon of black art.

Originally from Tacoma, Washington—by way of rural Spanaway—Porter grew up playing drums and rapping over his own beats. His first foray into hip-hop was as half of buzzy local duo Sleep Steady, who received much acclaim in the Pacific Northwest and placed two songs in major video game titles (EA Sports UFC 2 and Cyberpunk 2077). He has since released several solo mixtapes, including 2018’s critically-acclaimed Channel Surfing mixtape.

As a visual artist, Porter’s dreamlike watercolor portraits and lush murals have been shown in galleries across the country. His notable collectors include several NFL Seahawks players. He incorporates live painting into his performances and is currently planning a 30-city pop-up painting tour of record stores for Spring 2020.

Bobby Ro$$ is the seventh record in the Crane City Music collection, a library of the hottest recent hip-hop albums from the Pacific Northwest on wax. The record assembles a wide variety of Seattle- and Tacoma-area talent, including producers Chong The Nomad, Jamie Blake, and Khris P, alongside rappers Blake Anthony, Romaro Franceswa, and Jarv Dee. He also was a member of Freestyle Professors and featured on a bunch of their releases and back in the day went by the name of Rampage The only thing the man like Grimes hasn’t done is drop a solo project – that is until now!!
