Originally released on Oct. 24, 2017, The Way Through marks the fourth release by the Denver-born, New York-based rapper/producer Deca. Back by popular demand, the album is set for its first vinyl re-issue since in time for the record’s five year anniversary.

The 13 track LP marks an incredible achievement from the emcee, producer, and visual artist whose defined his artistic identity by courageously pushing the boundaries of his own creativity. Whereas his previous effort, The Ocean, takes a dive into the subconsciousness, The Way Through grabs metaphors and vocabulary from the Bible, abound with references of angels, demons and the Garden of Eden. Although a conceptually imaginative record, Deca manages to fuse his penchant for philosophy, literature and spirituality with deeply personal anecdotes.

With a clear voice, steady flow, Deca delivers his verses over firm drum kicks and warm, melodic samples, all self-produced. It’s not often you get to witness that level of integrity and overwhelming talent, but that’s exactly what makes this Deca such a fascinating artist.

“The Dewey Decibel System” is an album entirely based on some of MC Lars and Mega Ran’s favorite poems, books short stories and graphic novels. Pink Siifu is a 27 year old artist from Birmingham Alabama raised in Cincinnati Ohio who started making music in 2012. Also apart of a duo group, B. Cool-Aid, (consisting of producer Ahwlee ) and always working on music with producer Swarvy, Siifu makes music tht reflects the ideas, life, and struggles experienced through blackness even in light. Most times his music stretches from soul, punk , jazz, rap, and experimental. These days not enough truth, love and clarity are represented so that is aim and foundation. His debut project “ensley” consisted of faith, family, and community and inspires both his art and communication. He’s always working on new music and ways to express whether it be thru visual, audio, or in physical and plans to forever expand the gap and connection between and thru the whole culture. When Curren$y, Smoke Dza and Harry Fraud got together at a Times Square recording studio one night in the summer of 2013, they didn't know that they would be recording The Stage EP in one session. However, once they got into the room together, they locked the door and didn't come out until they had laid down four heaters, all over classic Harry Fraud style beats. The trio immediately knew they had something special and enlisted the services of French Montana and Big K.R.I.T. to round out their masterpiece.

Turning an impromptu studio session into the foundation for a full collaboration project is nothing new to these industry vets, with Curren$y and Harry Fraud creating /recording their Cigarette Boats EP in similar fashion. The Stage was initially released as a "mixtape" on DatPiff in October of 2013, and only recently made available on DSPs. On June 7th, 2019 fans of Curren$y, Dza and Fraud will finally be able to add to this gem to their vinyl collection by ordering this limited edition pressing, available on Opaque Purple wax, and with the Instrumentals included on the b-side... On 11 October 2010, Brainfeeder released the debut album by a 23 year old ex-skater, painter and music producer from Chino Hills called Teebs (real name Mtendere Mandowa). The title 'Ardour' means great enthusiasm, love or passion and was a fitting descriptor for his inherently warm, lushly textured beats. It’s an undisputed classic in the Brainfeeder canon and more widely considered an essential chapter in the ever-evolving puzzle of the global “beat scene”.

Brainfeeder and Teebs are celebrating the 10th anniversary with a limited special edition reissue of this landmark record. Pressed on deep pink 2LP and housed in a beautiful gatefold sleeve with artwork by Teebs himself, the new edition features six previously unreleased bonus tracks.

With roots at the ‘My Hollow Drum’ collective, Dublab and Low End Theory, Teebs has been a staple in Los Angeles music. “My creative family in LA is so important,” he explains. “It’s a part of who I am when I step outside and how others in LA view me. I love the feeling of community and trying to understand how I can be useful in it.”

Future archaeologists will discuss two periods in 1980s: before Run-DMC and after Run-DMC. It’s no exaggeration to say that the group changed the course of music in the ‘80s, bringing the old-school of rap into the new with one simple piece of flat, black plastic. Coming up in the rap world of the early 1980s under the wing of Kurtis Blow (group manager Russell Simmons managed Blow, and Run was, at one time, a DJ known as “Son of Kurtis Blow”) and Blow’s bassist and burgeoning super-producer Larry Smith, the trio – Joseph “Run” Simmons, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels and Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizell – learned from the best, but created their own path. 1983 was the year that they first broke out. With only an Oberheim DMX drum program and some cuts by Jay, “Sucker M.C.s (Krush-Groove 1)” was a shot across the bow to the slick, post-disco pocket rap had settled into. It was raw, pure swagger and it took both New Yorkers and music aficionados around the world by storm. The song’s lyrics are a mandatory memorization assignment to this day by MCs learning their craft. “Two years ago, a friend of mine…”
The group’s sound, which was laid out muscularly on Run-DMC, had a harder approach than their peers, thanks to producer Larry Smith’s use of live musicians who laid down grooves but didn’t soften the edges. Lyrically the group wasn’t just about brags either, with songs like “Hard Times,” “It’s Like That” and “Wake Up” (the first two were singles). Run’s and DMC’s overlapping tag-team approach to lyricism was powerful and immensely influential.
“Rock Box,” another single and arguably the centerpiece of the album, was a nod to their hard edge, and a foreshadowing of their first worldwide smash, 1985’s “King Of Rock.” Jam Master Jay’s DJ work was stellar, knowing exactly when to jump in and put listeners’ ears in a headlock.
The album was the first rap full-length to achieve Gold status, and as fans know, the group was just getting started – their next two LPs would take them to even higher status in the music world, critically and sales-wise. But this is where it all started, and it’s a classic that still sounds
fresh today as it did more than 30 years ago.
