Idiopath is the debut album from Kenton Hall & The Necessary Measures. Kenton Hall is a Canadian author, actor, director and musician who fronted the band ist from 2001 until 2010, releasing three critically acclaimed albums: 2004's Freudian Cordurory, 2005's King Martha and 2009's Toothpick Bridge. The band reformed briefly in 2015 to record two new tracks for Hall's directorial film debut "A Dozen Summers".

Idiopath will be accompanied by a feature film version of the album, Videopath and a companion album, Omniopath, featuring all the songs from the Idiopath sessions reinterpreted by other artists.

“This Remix Album is an ode to Hus Kingpin and some of the work we have done over the years…

I linked up with Wavo about 8 years ago. SmooVth and him had heard some of my tracks on Soundcloud of all places, and wrote me regarding my music. I was quickly captivated by their style and demeanor, so it was a no brainer for me to start working with the two.

The first record I did with Hus was a Remix track of “Time Is Runnin’ Out” which was the opening track on my “New Horizon” album featuring Guilty Simpson. His verse totally blew me away, and from that day forward he became one of my favorite emcees and still is to this day.

From that point on we’ve done quite a bit of work together. Both for his projects and my own. So it was only right that I gave this album of his the M.W.P. treatment. I will forever feel blessed that he helped me gain some momentum in the game and I feel privileged to have worked with such a talented artist as him.

Hopefully this will not be the last you hear from M.W.P. and Hus Kingpin, but for now enjoy my interpretation of Bolio: Reze Pelo Rio.”

After releasing their influential debut Breaking Atoms in 1991, ‘Fakin’ The Funk’ was their first follow-up material appearing on the soundtrack to the film White Men Can’t Jump, and as a 12” single in 1992. ‘He Got So Much Soul (He Don’t Need No Music)’ was the 9th track on Breaking Atoms, and makes its first appearance as a single. The record features a brand new jacket design, and is pressed on a limited edition picture disc.

Track 2, "Paper Off My Pager" combines Elements of upbeat jazz infused production with Awon's vivid quick fire lyricism. Awon, "The 90s were really grimy and rigid, it was a different thought process of survival, getting money happened to be a part of that. While it sounds celebratory, Paper off my Pager is really a reflection of bad decisions on top of bad decisions that led me to rap for a living. The celebration is that I survived." The B side features a golden age inspired Elements remix for "Game Matters" which shines a new light on Awon's braggadocio flows and showcases razor sharp cuts over melancholic jazz piano and upright bass. Awon has racked up millions of streams and immense exposure as an independent artist, with a stellar catalogue of underground hip hop classics. He recently starred in "Underdogs", a documentary that chronicles his journey with Don't Sleep Records, the label he founded with production partner Phoniks, winning best music documentary at Dtla film festival and streaming now on Netflix. Elements production placements have seen his music covered by tastemaker publications like Lyrical Lemonade, Afropunk, Billboard magazine and NPR music.
