Adagio! (pronounced "A-dee-gee-o") stands for "A Definition of Ambition, Goals, Interest and Organization!". The Juggaknots-affiliated New York and Philadelphia based underground hip-hop duo consisting of Rayme Supreme (Raymond Fogle) and Big Cousin also known as The Obvious Wonder (Brian Pritchett aka Carta' P.) made some buzz with their highly respected underground 12" releases and "These Never Dropped" marks their second release on 90's Tapes.

Hailing from Elgin, Illinois, the Rec Center is a collective composed of six MC’s with impeccable gifts of gab and a DJ blessed with the art of spinning. From the humbled beginnings of countless basement ciphers in the early 90’s a niche was crafted, a mission was charted and a journey to Reveal Eternal Creation was embarked upon. Originally consisting of nine MC’s, Rec Center released their first full-length album "Lonely People" on CD only in the fall of 1999 which made them a household name in the Chicago underground scene.

North Carolina producer, Khrysis who is a member of 9th Wonder's Jamla Records music label and Soul Council production team, steps from the shadows of his crew and into the spotlight with his own production compilation album with a star studded cast of features that range to some of the biggest names in Hip Hop (Busta Rhymes, De La Soul) to some of the best new up and comers on the scene (Reuben Vincent, Ian Kelly).

Zora is a 22 year old artist, producer, singer, and rapper. She has been writing music since the age of 14, taking inspiration after Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, Janet Jackson, Prince, Kendrick Lamar, Sophie, and so many others. Zora’s sound can be described as Alternative Pop. She writes, produces, and records all of her own stuff, using instruments such as the piano, the ES2 synth, and electric guitar to bring her ideas to life.

"Doom" marked the 1997 album debut by Mood, a legendary trio out of Cinicinnati, Ohio, consisting of rappers Main Flow and Donte as well as producer Jahson. The album features early productions by Hi-Tek and guest appearances by Talib Kweli. Next to cuts like "Karma" or "Secrets Of The Sand" our version includes the early classics "Verbal Stampede" plus the remix as well as "Hustle On The Side".

The group's debut "Next School Pioneers" dropped in 1995 via Peanuts & Corn, a Canadian underground label run by mcenroe. "Comprehension" followed in 1999, originally self-released on CD only accompanied by a now hard-to-find 12" release.

The album features mic guests such as Odario, Ismaila and Fayce as well as productions by mcenroe, The Buddha and Howard Hyman.

The debut album of New York based rapper and producer Godfather Don was originally released in 1991 via Select Records and gained an undeniable grail status amongst fans and collectors. The Starvin Art Clique consisted of Christopher "30 Fingaz" Gittens, Robert "Hawaii" Russell and DJ Joe "Guess Who?" Davidge and "Starving Art" was their only album. The full production was handled by Guess Who? and Shane "The Doctor" Faber, features included artists such as Shawn Smith, Jaie, Mekolicious and others.

Originally released on CD on Joe Davidge's Overkast Records in 1998, the release was accompanied by a then and now hard-to-find 12" EP with 5 tracks of the album plus an instrumental version.

On "Mixed Emotions", the Brooklyn-based Dysfunkshunal Familee consisted of Braindead, D-Rock, Rebel Rhyme and Crazy DJ Bazarro. Recorded between 1994-98, the album still has that special Bushwick underground vibe and feel. Bazarro's words on the project: "What a time to be alive. We just sat in the crib making music, having fun, playstation, trying to change the world in our little world. Everything we talk about then is happening now. Good luck in the game called life. So many mixed emotions on this ride."

The members of Down Ta Erf consists of a production team of twin brothers Wall & Steel, one emcee Mathematik. The trio would first meet on the football field sharing the back field as running backs for the Eagles in a local (Scarborough, Toronto) youth football league, a few years later into their teens they would link again to form what we now know as Down Ta Erf. During the early developing years the crew would go on to focus on creating the purest most original interpretation of the music and the times that they could, digging both within themselves and the crates as well. What took place was the creation of a special time capsule of music brought to you by a crew that truly live and breathe the culture of music.

With "Breaking Atoms", the trio comprised of K-Cut, Sir Scratch and Large Professor delivered a timeless classic in Hip Hop history. The album features cameos by a young Nasty Nas, Joe Fatal and Akinyele as well as a co-production by Pete Rock. Setting standards with its »crunchy digitized drums, choppy segmented samples, and murky filtered basslines«, as Ben Detrick wrote in the Village Voice, the album received 4.5 mics in the Source that later on in 2002 were revised to 5 mics.

th1rt3en is what you would get If Led Zeppelin and Kendrick Lamar had a baby and raised it in Jamaica, Queens. The gritty production coupled with live instrumentation and exquisite lyricism creates a unique yet familiar sound that has been tried before but hasn’t ever reached this level of artistry. Clear Shell • Limited TO 300 Units Hip-Hop lost one of its most talented wordsmiths when Fred The Godson passed away due to complications with Covid-19 last year. However, his family has continued his legacy by launching the nonprofit Fred The Godson Foundation, as well as releasing some of his most sought-after music on vinyl and CD. Ascension is the first posthumous release with all new material from the South Bronx emcee. The tracks were handpicked by Fred's brother Russ and they are a prime example of the creative high he was on just before his passing. The collection of songs includes production from The Heatmakerz and guest spots from G Mims, Guap Sinatra, M City, Reef Hustle, Bandz Dinero and more. This album is a celebration of Fred's life and so, fittingly, the LP dropped digitally on his birthday, February 22. On the same day, New York City officials unveiled a new street name in the South Bronx honoring the respected lyricist: Fredrick "Fred The Godson" Thomas Way. A lot of artists make street music, but only a handful have ever received a tribute with street signs.

Dark Pink Shell • Limited TO 300 Units Eto Brigante is the one and only time Rochester's favorite son has done a concept album. The featureless affair is based on the classic gangster film Carlito's Way, as song titles like "Benny Blanco Club Scene" and "David Kleinfeld" make abundantly clear. Eto adapts the key scenes of the movie into rhyme in a way that only he can. The hardbody beats are handled by underground go-to's like V Don, Trox, Chup The Producer, MichaelAngelo, and more.

Dark Pink Shell • Limited TO 250 Units This is easily the most slept-on project in ElCamino's discography. The 10-track album is laced with his trademark nonchalant flow and was originally planned as his entry in Griselda's On Steroids series. While he has never revealed which producers are behind these hood hits, the album features two appearances by buzzing NYC emcee Madhattan, as well as verses from Loveboat Luciano (b$f), Don P, and Miserable Genius. Not to mention the album has iconic cover-art by design deity Manuel "Cep" Concepcion.

Much like Benny The Butcher, ElCamino is just as associated with 38 Spesh’s Trust movement as he is with Griselda. So it should come as no surprise that Camino and Spesh’s phenomenal Martyr’s Prayer project from 2019 was only the first of many joint albums to come. Their follow-up, Sacred Psalms, is not a sequel but instead a new chapter in the story of Camino’s rise. The album features standout tracks like Hustle Like Me, What I Be On, and Camino Season, but make no mistake, the whole album is high grade dope.

Future Times is elated to announce our next release, the album Bop 3 from Sir E.U + Tooth Choir. Sir E.U is one of the best. He has modes aplenty, ranging from classic rap music to collaborations with DC’s dance and electronic music producers. This album finds him in duo mode, every beat by the formidable Tooth Choir, for a new classic entry. Bop 3 is a scuzzed-out rap masterpiece. Tooth Choir’s beats range from the acid house bang of “Turn It Up! (ft. Cal Rips)” to the piano dream state of the closer “Can’t Stop Thinking Bout My Baby,” in which E.U goes galactic for 20 minutes of purely-bared soul. “End Of Time” sounds like Jungle Wonz with the ions reversed, some sort of Chicago House-indebted nightmare funk. “Hey Mom” and “Untitled (2 Much)” dig into a post-punk and wave angle, evocative of everything from Robert Hood and Sleeparchive to Joy Division and other reverb scroungers. Sir E.U compliments this fully, with a surprising range of melody and bizarro hooks, as in the demented pop highlights “mua” and “How Much Longer (Until We Go Get Em).” The sheer sonics of his voice and breadth of his expression, which he is manipulating and re-inventing constantly throughout Bop 3, are wonderful on their own, but Sir E.U is also straight up one of the greatest rappers doing it today; his styles and flows are constantly stunning, and each EP or track release via his own channels becomes a fountain of inspiration for anybody rapping right now. You can hear E.U in many rappers today, well beyond his local Washington DC. Bop 3 is a full-length exploration of the potent duo of Sir E.U + Tooth Choir, in sync to a serious degree, making some of the wildest rap music imaginable.

Originally recorded in Slough in 2003, MC Noddegamra and producer Big Chill's "Clear The Space" EP is the first installment of Blunted Astronaut's Lost & Found tape series. Fast forward nearly 20 years and Daniel Niles, Big Chill's nephew, rediscovers acapellas that were lost in the family archives for nearly two decades. Lacing up the beats he brings you a freshly remixed 8 track EP on cassette that features both vocal and instrumental versions on each side. Previously largely unheard, "Clear The Space" is a non-compromise commentary on the music industry, politics in Tony Blair's UK, religion and society, themes and lyrics which resonate today.

Cold Busted has navigated the smooth seas to unearth Sailing, the new album from Moroccan guitarist and beat-flinger saib. The Casablanca-based producer has steered his sound into warmer waters. Mixing tempered hip hop beats with jazzy vibes and a lounge sensibility, saib. touches on a style that's both chill and opulent. The album's opener, "Archipelago," sets the scene with gentle piano, swirling strings, and beachside sounds that would make Martin Denny proud. "Tropics" pushes the agenda further, featuring delightful vibraphone lines, stand-up bass, and boom bap beats, providing the perfect soundtrack for poolside cocktails. The sleepy crooning of "Blue Memories," the future-retro sing-a-long of "Mermaid Dreams," and the guitar/vibes interplay of "Pastel" provide other highlights. Sailing's twelve songs show saib. as an artist capable of bringing a sunny climate to any listening environment.

Since our first contact with NYC based producer Thavius Beck in 2018, he sent us over 100 unreleased tracks, or beats, as he calls them. 25 of them have been selected for releases on U-trax, good for over 2 hours of music, across this album and the Lovesick EP.
Growing up in LA, Thavius Beck entered the hip-hop scene as member of Global Phlowtations, and released several solo albums under the Adlib moniker. In later years, he released five albums under his own name on labels like Mush, Big Dada and Plug Research, and also produced albums for artists like Saul Williams and K‑the‑I???, and did some remixing for amongst others Nine Inch Nails. Nowadays he combines making music with a career as a succesful certified Ableton and Bitwig trainer and as a music teacher at Berklee NYC.
The tracks vary in style a lot, but what they have in common is that they either are moody – in U-trax lingo: deep - or they are drum heavy. The common denominator would probably be 'experimental/instrumental hip-hop', reminiscent of producers like Flying Lotus. People have tried all sorts of comparisons to pinpoint Thavius' sound, ranging from 'between DJ Shadow and Orbital' and 'a mix of Massive Attack and The Orb'. None of these are spot on, yet quite a few of these tracks feel like a happy marriage between hip-hop beats and techno sounds.
Despite the fact that some tracks are 20 years old and have been made with widely different gear (one track was even made on a PlayStation 2), this selection sounds remarkably balanced, yet diverse.
From the irresistible single 'Lovesick/Still Sick' to the dark and massive 'Birdsong' (that echoes the sound of his popular song 'Atmos'), and from the head-nodding 'Work!' to the soothing 'Reunited With The All' - if this collection showcases anything, it's Thavius' brilliant production and composing skills, as well as his wizard-level sampling techniques. The result is a luscious electronic music album with a broad appeal.

Coming off his ninth studio album, Statik Selektah takes a swing with Kota the Friend. An early co-sign and friendship has produced one of the promising rising MC’s from Brooklyn. Statik’s unique ear and keen eye for talent has made him an undeniable force for both rising rappers and legends. Staying authentic and true to himself, Statik speaks on why this collaboration was essential for hip-hop, saying: The pair show no signs of stopping. Aside from his own music, Statik has continued to make noise through the airwaves on his weekly Thursday night show “ShowOff Radio” on Shade 45 Sirius XM. Next up on "90's Tapes" are the demo 4-track recordings of Yusef Afloat's "Foreign Objects" and "Hard Times".

Known as one half of legendary Westcoast group The Nonce (along with Nouka Basstype aka Sach), MC/producer/musician Yusef Afloat produced tracks for Aceyalone, Supherb, and Figures Of Speech. He also appeared on the original 1994 release of Project Blowed. On May 21, 2000, Yusef "Afloat" Muhammad was found dying on the side of Freeway 110 in Los Angeles, he was 28 years old. The cause of his death is still unknown.

"When I listen to Yusef now, I'm reminded of what I felt then and that is he knew his time on Earth was limited. The tone was new, stern authoritative on his views and expressions of Hip Hop. I knew he was talking to me and each one of our peers. The tapes have been safe for 20 years thanks to Dee Skee for maintaining archives at Weightless Audio. The implications that I knew someone who may have said things because their span was going to be cut. I'm thinking he saw clearer than we could. I felt he wanted to be a guide in the discovery of what kind of Man I would live to be and what kind of Man listening to this music would turn out to be? I don't know if I had inclinations of my time being so short what I would have been spending it doing and he spent his saying these weighted lines. I thought it abrasive at first but I understand now why he said what he said and how with style! I miss him everyday and I'm so proud that Yusef's music can finally be showcased to the world in the beautiful way it is deserving. I'm blown back looking at the pictures, so many sat on that couch Yusef sits Ganjah K, Meen Green. What great sessions… no magical sessions. Preparing to play this record we would probably roll something and get comfortable on that couch… well… drop the needle! Push play!"
