Rising in the ranks of Minneapolis, their debut album, Overcast! was released in 1997. Presented as a flurry of vignettes, and paired with an unending touring schedule, the album was a springboard from which the group was able to become a fixture in the midwest music scene. It wasn't long before their songwriting evolved from telling inventive third-person tales to delivering introspective first-person eviscerations, and by the early 2000's Slug would jokingly birth the phrase "emo rap" in an interview before publications began running with the genre tag to describe them and others. In the decades since their debut, Atmosphere has maintained a course of rigorous output, releasing over two dozen studio albums, EP's and collaborative side projects in as many years. The venerated duo have built a legacy out of bringing honesty, humility and vulnerability to the forefront of their music. Slug has proven masterful at storytelling and writing compelling narratives, leaving a trail of his own influence while paying homage to the rappers and songwriters that helped shape him. Meanwhile, Ant has skillfully molded the soundtracks with inspiration from soul, funk, rock, reggae, and the wizardry of hip-hop's pioneering DJ's and producers, creating his own trademark sounds and providing the pulse for songs about life, love, stress and setbacks. At its essence, Atmosphere has been a musical shepherd, guiding generations of listeners through this thing called life. Their newest album, 2023's So Many Other Realities Exist Simultaneously, captures perhaps some of Atmosphere's most personal work to date. The odyssey opens with a gentler approach than recent works, with the lead-off track "Okay" seemingly focused on comforting and reassuring the listener. As Slug raps over one of the most twinkling productions Ant has ever released, the song lays the groundwork for an album-length exercise in fumbling consciousness. Yet, as gently as the album begins, there's an unmistakable sense of unease from the outset that continues to evolve throughout the project, as Slug and Ant weave the listener through indistinct themes of insomnia and woe. From the subtle panic at the heart of songs like "Dotted Lines" to the overt anxiety of songs like "In My Head," the unease across tracks is unmistakable. Yet, as the tears might begin to well, they find resolve again through songs like "Still Life," whose hopeful outlook undercuts the tensity of the album. All the while, the rhythms on So Many Other Realities are some of the most inventive of Atmosphere's career. Ant's playful percussion on "In My Head" acts as a nice counterweight to the roiling writing, while the drum patterns on "Holding My Breath" and "Bigger Pictures" allow Slug to play with his flow to emphasize the anxiety driving the record. Where previous records in this most recent act of Atmosphere's career have been focused on emphasizing the parts of life that carry the most meaning_family, brotherhood, purpose_So Many Other Realities is an almost unnerving excavation of paranoia inspired by the general malaise of a pandemic weary society full of civil unrest. The tension in these songs is palpable, but the album's mere presence is a testament to the hope that has to underpin even the most stressed out epiphanies. The greatest risk Atmosphere has continued to take across their career is that of being vulnerable and unafraid. The world has inconceivably changed since Slug and Ant entered into the underground hip-hop scene, but despite the seismic shifts in music and culture, they've held strong to a foundation rooted in sly innovation and truth. The duo's relentless release & touring schedules only tell a piece of the story, but spending time with their records_whether you're a new fan or a longstanding listener_reveals a pair of friends who love to create and live for unabashed self-expression. Their bare reflections on life and the mundane traumas and joys that make living worthwhile are a gift, and that is Atmosphere's legacy in and of itself. If the music stopped tomorrow, the duo would go down as two quiet titans who changed the course of everyman rap forever.

When Aesop Rock debuted in the late 90s with Music For Earthworms and Appleseed, Blockhead was also a part of the process, not only as a producer, but also helping coordinate sales of the CDRs to hungry Hip Hop fans. Blockhead and Aesop continued to collaborate, creating an impressive list of songs along the way, including two of Aesop's most popular songs to date; "Daylight" and "None Shall Pass". In recent years, Blockhead has contributed production, as well as remixes, to manyof Aesop's solo releases and group projects, and Aesop has made a handful of guest features on Blockhead's solo projects, but in all that time, Aesop and Block have never done a full album together, until now! Garbology came together over the course of the pandemic, as well as in the midst of Aesop processing the loss of a close friend in January of 2020, resulting in a period of time of feeling uncreative. Looking back on that time that feels both like yesterday and forever-ago, Aesop recalls, "Theworld got real weird during those months. I knew at some point I had to get back to making something. Make a beat. Draw a picture. Write. Just go. But the idea of making a beat felt like math homework, and drawing is just so hard. Writing is hard too, but at some point I had to pick one." With writing as the chosen path, Aesop hit up Blockhead to send over some beats. At the beginning there wasn't a plan for an album, or any particular plan beyond creating some songs. However, it wasn't long before one song became a few, and then a handful, until finally an album was born. Garbology encapsulates the soundtrack of current times, capturing a snapshot of Aes and Block expressing a means of entertaining themselves in the midst of less social interactions than usual, "anchored on a goulash of cabin fever, fear, anger and boredom", as Aesop describes it. As for the album title, Aesop explains, "Garbology is defined as the study of the material discarded by a society to learn what it reveals about social or cultural patterns. I find a lot of parallels between that and the idea of picking up the pieces after a loss or period of intense unrest, and seeing what's really there. It's information that speaks to who I am, who we are, and how we move forward. Furthermore - the idea of digging through old, often neglected music from another time with an ear tuned for taking in that data in a different way than your average listener would is exactly what Tony does. Gregory Keltgen (aka DJ Abilities) gravitated toward the turntables at a young age, becoming a DJ at only 17, before going on to compete in the legendary DMC DJ competitions only 2 years later in 1999. He won the regional title and advanced to the U.S. finals that year, before doing it again in 2001. Soon after, Abilities was also garnering attention for performing all the scratches on indie classic, Fantastic Damage, the debut album by El-P of Run The Jewels' fame, as well as contributing his turntable talents and production skills to other Hip-Hop cult favorites like The Anti-Album by Semi.Official, and The Taste of Rain... Why Kneel? by Deep Puddle Dynamics. But above all, his name would become most celebrated throughout the 2000's as one-half of the dynamic Hip-Hop duo Eyedea & Abilities. DJ Abilities had first met Micheal "Eyedea" Larsen in the mid-90's, and the two soon began a working relationship that would eventually play a prominent role in the burgeoning Indie-Rap movement of the time. Together, the pair developed a near symbiotic creative union that produced three albums _ First Born; E&A; and By The Throat _ a catalog animated by the burning fusion of Eyedea's introspective and technically adept rhymes with Abilities' precise scratches and versatile production. Tragically, his partner Eyedea passed away in 2010 leaving Abilities to soldier on by himself, but the influence of their partnership continues to shape DJ Abilities' music to this day. His latest project, Phonograph Phoenix, finds the DJ/Producer returning to the forefront and embracing an entirely new approach to making music. A departure from previous work that was primarily sample-based, Phonograph Phoenix finds Abilities opting to build the album's compositions from the ground up, creating his own sound through Ableton Live and various soft synths, with razor sharp cuts and select vocal chops providing a voice where his fallen partner may have once stood. Abilities' new production techniques breathe an awakening essence into Phonograph Phoenix, whether that's in the deep, cavernous bass and funky drum loops of "Worldwide", the gorgeous atmospheric synths he conjures on "Waves", or the sinister head-nodding groove of "The Badman" with its vulnerable-but- not-self-pitying vocal samples. Throughout its creation, Abilities sought to remain as truthful as possible, ensuring that each song held qualifying meaning and that the album on a whole made a definitive statement. The process inspired Abilities to dig deep and pull up some heavy, heartfelt beats and, speaking with his hands as all great turntablists do, he used this space to address grief, loss, and his own personal shortcomings, all while making room for hope and optimism.

Jubwa is an American hip-hop persona from Mountain View, CA first created by Jonathan Brown in 1981. He is widely regarded as one of the pioneers in the Bay Area and one of the first radio hip-hop DJ’s of the early 80’s that already highlighted the importance of live freestyling, mixing and scratching.



As a part of “The Members Only Crew” he released an Electro classic in 1985 called “You’re Not Down”, which was the first hip-hop record ever produced at Stanford University. Jubwa followed up with the instant classic and often imitated “Bass Creator” track later that year in 1985. Due to a packed schedule the full album, “Bass Creator!!”, wasn’t released until 1988 under his moniker Nation Def Grooves. “Bass Way 1988” was also released that year, the first release on his own Bass Way Records label.



In 1989 Jubwa took his talents across the whole West Coast and South West with the release of “Gangster Feelin”. After a concert in Tulsa, OK that also featured Salt-N-Pepa, Slick Rick and LL Cool J, Jubwa passed off his “Def Cars” tape single he released back in 1987 to the shuttle driver and everybody started jamming and praising the track. The next year LL releases “The Boomin’ System” on the “Mama Said Knock You Out” album copying Def Cars’ flow, beat concept and even some lyrics.



More than 30 years after Gangster Feelin’ was released on tape and LP, Hip-Hop Enterprise has worked along with Jubwa to bring you a very limited CD edition of “Gangster Feelin”. The artwork was entirely handled by Spek the Architek and the mastering was done by our dear friend Jee Van Cleef. To make it extra special we will include the infamous “Def Cars” track as a bonus. In March 2020, right as the whole world was entering into a transitional phase, Evidence released a single titled "Unlearning". Discovered by RZA, this Californian group was the first from the West Coast to be signed by Wu-Tang in 1997. The group later separated into two groups: Black Knights and Northstar who kept working closely together. “My goal was simple: don’t try to recreate anything they have done, just create something that no one else can do, which is to be
me,” Rasheed says. Buck echoed that sentiment when he talked about the record in a documentary, in which he expressed his
excitement to work with not just a talented rapper, but a skilled artist. “Being an artist is just as important as putting two words
together to rhyme,” Buck explained.
That high level of artistry, from everyone involved, is what makes Sinners & Saints so impactful. Not just anyone could pull off
a track as stirring as “The Blue Hood,” in which Rasheed plays the role of a racist, corrupt police officer over Buck’s
harrowing production. The same goes for “Rock Bottom” where he and Ransom sound off about life’s low points, and “Bredren,” a
speaker-knocking middle-finger in musical form featuring Planet Asia.
There’s just so much to love about what these two have created with Sinners & Saints, a project that sounds like if 2020 was a

Reggie Gibson, better known as Saafir, is an MC, producer and actor from Oakland, California and a member of the rap group "Golden State Project" (formerly known as Golden State Warriors) with Ras Kass and Xzibit. In the early 90's Saafir lived with 2Pac and became a dancer for Digital Underground. In August of 1992 Saafir appeared on the Unsigned Hype column in the Source where they reviewed a 3-track demo he submitted, one of those early tracks "Prime Time After Seven" is also included here. Saafir made his recording debut on Digital Underground's The Body-Hat Syndrome released in 1993 where he appeared on several cuts. The same year Saafir appeared in the classic film Menace II Society as Harold Lawson, and was featured on the movie soundtrack. After securing a deal with Qwest Records in 1994, Saafir recruited the Hobo Junction production team (J Groove, J.Z., Rational, Big Nose, and Poke Martian) for his debut album "Boxcar Sessions" and here he came into his own completely shifting more towards his own abstract style both vocally and lyrically. We have 3 extra tracks in comparison to the 2002 Cd-r issue and more importantly a thorough remastering of the tracks has been done that shows a definite improvement. Limited to 400 copies total.

2019 has been a banner year for Griselda Records. From recording their highly anticipated record for Eminem’s Shady
Records to Benny The Butcher signing a management deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, they have made some major moves.
However, the young shooter of the crew, Elcamino, has been largely ignored by the press and masses alike.
After dropping his self-titled debut at the top of last year, Camino appeared on almost every track on Benny’s A Friend of Ours
EP. He then followed that up with a strong sophomore effort titled Walking On Water. This year the baby-faced Buffalo rapper

While the name may not be instantly recognizable to North American fans, Oh Jay is well known in The Netherlands and
throughout Europe. The veteran DJ and producer has been a part of a number of Hip-Hop acts since as early as 1990. In
fact, he received a Gold record for his contributions to the Brainpower album Verschil Moet Er Zijn. Much more recently he
handled production duties on Milano Constantine’s criminally slept-on Attache Case full-length.
Let’s just say that what Elcamino and Oh Jay put together for Where’s My Pyrex? is about to have Griselda fiends

ABOUT SOLOMON CHILDS:
Rapper and Staten Island native Solomon Childs (born Walbert Ryan
Dale in 1975) became affiliated with the mighty Wu-Tang Clan through
his family ties to god-brother Cappadonna and cousin Ghostface Killah.
Solomon contributed to various Wu-Tang related classics throughout
the late '90s and early 2000s, including verses on Cappadonna's The
Pillage, RZA's Bobby Digital, Ghostface Killah's Supreme Clientele and
others. In the early 2000s he was a member of the Ghostface affiliated
group Theodore Unit, as well as appearing on tracks by other artists
and working on his own releases.
In 2016 Solomon was shot twice in a drive-by shooting while out
shopping in Staten Island. The rapper underwent multiple surgeries
but survived the attempt on his life.
"The Prophet and the King" is Solomon's second album from when this
tragic incident occurred.
ABOUT TONE SPLIFF:
Los Angeles based DJ and Producer Tone Spliff (born Anthony John
Mucitelli in 1981) is grounded in an east coast sound and steeped in
tradition with an ever present emphasis on the DJ/Turntablist.
Tone links up with Solomon Childs to deliver an instant classic Hip Hop
album, sounding like a beast on the drum machine and the 1’s and 2’s,
it’s apparent Tone Spliff has some skills to flex on this album.
The beat-creator, originally from Utica, NY, has made his mark in the

Over the last decade RAST has made a name for himself as one of the undergrounds most original voices. RAST has released a handful of albums, freestyles and a slew of online singles (including collaborations with Czarface, Hus Kingpin and Your Old Droog). But before all this, RAST held down the 90’s as part of the New York Graffiti crew RFC. It was
during this time that many of the tracks on “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” draw from. The album has no features and was produced entirely by The Czar-Keys (7L & Jeremy Page) - and this was done by design. 7L and RAST worked together on the vision and the direction they wanted to go with for the
album. As 7L points out “I wanted to really take it back to a time when the rapper was the main focus. This is also why we didn’t go with a group name or a RAST & 7L title. For me it was really all about RAST, and his
story is so personal that it just made sense for him to be the only voice you hear”. From the albums start, “Base” sets things off with organs that sound
straight off old Surf footage accompanied by a pounding break beat. RAST’s signature gruff voice goes from rugged raps to melodic singing and back. On “The Devils Playground” RAST delivers some of his most honest lines recalling his youth and battles with depression. On “I Lost My Mind and Found God” RAST states plainly in the hook “I ain’t gonna see no doctor unless I die". RAST delivers these lines with the maturity of a seasoned blues man. "Runaway Slave" is another great example of this, as the track roars with a powerful hook as if he were exorcising his demons over what sounds like a dusted church organ.
Other stand out gems like "Children of Attica", “The Little Boy Who Lived in a Tree” and “The Remarkable Story of the Silent Machine Gun” show that RAST is cut from a different cloth. “I Know Why the Caged Bird
Sings” is an album where, as pointed out in the albums intro "Caged", is RAST at his most honest and vulnerable.
