The Drumcode founder is measured when it comes to signing music to his own imprint, biding his time till the stars align. His last individual outing was 2015’s ‘Stone Flower’ EP, which included the thrilling label favorite ‘What You Need’. A succession of classy collaborations followed, linking with DC’s most vital artists highlighted by ‘Your Mind’ with Bart Skils, proclaimed one of the best tracks of the last decade by Mixmag. An EP that gives a nod to uncertain times, while remaining resolutely positive, ‘No Defeat No Retreat’ was written during Beyer’s fruitful production sessions during lock down. The opening track, ‘Park People’ sets the pace with an energetic, 80’s nu wave creating the track’s spine. Its hypnotic energy stems from a powerful synth riff and vocal sample culminating in a skillfully balanced track that neatly combines the old with the new. The title track is a study in contrasts, deftly crafting a muted, nagging vocal hook and infectious bass line into a slice of forward-facing, edgy techno. With its subtle, undulating layers of melody building in the background, it ushers in an understated sense of euphoria, making it a perfect end-of-set mood-maker. A thrilling return!

DJ Lily returns to Lilies this August with the label's sixth release, featuring a collaboration with label partner Sailor Juul and remixes from Inhalt der Nacht and The Mountain Range. DJ Lily launched the Lilies imprint in 2018 as a Techno focused sub-label of his Bror imprint and has since gone on to release five 12" releases of material from himself, Svagila, Sandra Mosh and Jor-El. What happens when you arrive to a party and everyone is leaving as you are walking in? If a bass drum booms in the woods but no one is around to hear it, does it even boom at all? Can you build a mansion with playing cards? Nick Klein returns to Alter with the cryptically biographical ‘No Shortage of Rope’, his third release for the label and significantly, potentially his first full length album. Consisting of 7 tracks, ‘No Shortage of Rope’ is a consolidated collection of recordings Klein made after leaving his long-term base of NYC to become a full-time resident of Den Haag, Netherlands. Using some newfound free time post-move, Klein wanted to approach his working process in the studio a little differently to create something long form, something that felt more like an album as opposed to being built with the club music paradigm as a given. Describing his time in the studio, Klein says it was “the most hermetic studio endeavour I have ever undertaken”. It certainly seems that Klein harnessed this period of productivity to make the most of what his music could offer as ‘No Shortage of Rope’ is the man in his most pointedly pure form. As an artist Klein has followed his own path around the fringes of the contemporary American underground without much worry of where he may end up as a result. This has led the majority of his work to be best contextualised by the rough beat-music associated with artists like Beau Wanzer, Shane English or Container and the celebratory unpretentious world of noise. Opening track ‘Sitting In Glass’ sets an irreverent foundation with gratuitous chainsaw-like synth noise that sucks the air immediately out of the room. If this is a record made without the club in mind, then we’re made aware fairly quickly. The subsequent tracks are more or less Klein back at the office in beat-based terrain, but with some noticeable differences. The kicks are harder and percussive elements have been chosen and rendered with sharp detail, taking up more space and disguising how minimal these pieces are despite their bombastic delivery. The biggest surprise comes in the final track “French-Property.com”, a book-ending piece of percussion-less glacial electronics and maybe the most expansive thing Klein has made to date. Regardless of Klein’s intentions regarding the club, it couldn’t have been too far from his mind purely for the reason that ‘No Shortage of Rope’ just bangs like fuck for the most part. This is hard rhythmic electronic music built for basements and the record-boxes of adventurous DJs, just very much made on his own terms.

For the third installment of Henk, the two DJ’s and producers from Cologne, Germany showcase once again a wide variety of styles in their production. With the A1 being a collaboration of the two, the 3 other tracks are solo works by Stikdorn. “Reset” quickly makes it’s way into any raver’s heart. Fast-paced drums and percussions meet mellow pads and 90’s vibe arpeggio’s, making this a sure shot on any dancefloor in summer. It’s clear that the A-Side on this one is reserved for the bangers once you dive into “Come Closer”. A haunting 303 acid line garnered by steadily pounding drums and vocal snippets reminding you of the early hardcore days making this a must-have for any DJ-Set. On the B-Side things slow down significantly. But only in tempo, not in deepness for sure. “Anemia” is one of these tracks that evolve while floating through space and time, taking you to the trippier and more thoughtful places, either on the dancefloor or wherever you are. “Low Lights” highlights Stikdorn’s affinity for breakbeats once again. Perfectly suitable to take your DJ-Set into another direction or for the early/late hours in the club.

Will Saul, DJ/Producer and Aus Music label head primes the 150th release for the longstanding British label with a stellar cover of the 1990 seminal techno record of the same name by Yolanda on seminal label Underground Resistance. With the original record being one of Saul’s all time favorites and UR being a constant source of inspiration it was beyond a dream to get his version fully approved by Mike Banks to celebrate the landmark anniversary. Saul then worked with Berlin based vocalist Gilli.jpg - who has recently worked with Cinthie - to re-vocal Yolanda’s song. As a former intern at Skint in the late 90s heyday, this up-streamed anthem feels extra special finally landing digitally on the label where Saul began learning his trade over twenty years ago. The vinyl will be released on Aus. There is also a version expected later this year which see’s Saul collaborate with Paul Woolford and additional remixes by Move D and Space Dimension Controller that will land shortly. The release features artwork by Trevor Jackson, the man behind the Output label, who’s releases launched careers for huge artists like Four Tet and LCD Soundsystem to name just a few. His iconic, pop art influenced work has been seen on releases including the undisputable 80’s dance classic, Raze ‘Break 4 Love’ and S’Express ‘Theme from S’Express’.

For this sixth release we prepared something special and very close to our hearts. While digging deep into the obscurities of French House music a few years ago, a friend pointed us to a label, Labo Music which had just a few releases in its catalogue and was run by an artist called “Bo’”. Through a series of synchronistic events, we managed to get a hold of the very first 2 releases produced by Bo’ himself, and since that moment we got lovestruck with the music contained in those records. It was later Bo’ himself to tell us that the music in LABO001 and LABO002 was capturing a very special and delicate moment of his life, while he was going through personal challenges and changes, that took him into musical directions that he was not used to pursue.
We don’t know what force he channelled with those sessions, but the music resonates so much with us, that we felt it should not be heard just by a few lucky ones and thus decided to pick our favourite tracks and reissue them on OCD.

After the success of the 2 Late 4 Love EP, Roy Of The Ravers returns to Emotional Response with a double LP with a deeper perspective, experimenting in ambient and drone textures, lucid techno travails and acid interludes. Recorded between 1997 and 2017, the album was pieced together over the last six months after Roy's archives were first feared lost and then found. Approached by the label to release a follow up with something more introspective and personal, it was discovered that a recent move to a new studio had led to over 20 years of music being misplaced after it was believed they were mistakenly dropped at a local charity store. However, deep in a box of what were thought to be patch cables were in fact the decades worth of hard drives and here presented, is a sample of those lost recordings. The nature of the music is introspection, eschewing the acid beats and white noise for a personal encounter between man and machine. The orchestral opening of the title track gives way to the submarine beats, pulsing TB303 and gliding hats of Robinson College 10 to set the outlook to come. Even with the scattering A Dim And Distant Past waking lulled senses, the melodies and feel all lead to a pause and reflect rather than jump and shout. This is continued with the haunting drives of Bounce Erec and Oriental X0X-Press; the twisted, warped jams of The Weber Traum Boat Pt.3, Ichi and Roland Corp Labs 05; and the beautiful, heartfelt odes in Sade Lost Theme, The Clock House Pt.2 and closer, Nemesis '01. The album's melodic nature hums and shines as CS (6x8) appears as much a centre piece as a alternative consideration to the acid tinged, club bangs of Roy's releases to date. A surprise package maybe, but in the rolling, word of mouth phenomena that was Emotinium II, all this and more was sensed and so White Sunrise Music II, spreading across 12 songs of contrasting moods, is a further affirmation that there is something good and worthy of exploration.

Roman Flügel makes a first appearance Circus Company with two versions of “Dae-Boj DeMoya” that showcase this constantly versatile lynchpin of European techno. Whilst the R&M live shows have seen them share bills with Godflesh, Youth Code, PIG and 3Teeth. In 2019 it was time for R&M to throw a marker down and so came “Manifesto For A Modern World”, the debut album comprised of tracks from the “$ocial £utures”, “Hope Tragedy Myths” and “Citizens” EP’s plus some additional songs. This album is basically a greatest hits of Randolph & Mortimer. A statement of intent. All killer and no filler. The original limited edition CDs and tapes sold out and it had some incredible reviews. A Model Of Control called it “An absolutely outstanding release” and super cool New York DJ Andi Harriman (Synthicide) made it one her of top 10 albums of 2019 on Post-Punk.com. So here we are in 2020 and the Randolph & Mortimer story has seriously stepped up a gear with this double vinyl version of the album featuring all Manifesto tracks plus the acid styled dance-floor favourite “Apply Yourself” and four brand new tracks (“Crystal Peaks”, “Stateless”, “What Are You?”, “Fantasy Land”) which make up a whole new EP.

Limited to 200 copies, this release is the fifth and final ep of the 5 x 12" from the Thomas Brinkmann Retrospektiv 5xlp box set. The 5 individual 12" will be released through 2018/19. Thomas Brinkmann is one of the great producers of Techno music and modern dance music. He initially gained notoriety in the experimental electronic music and Techno community for his full-length 'variations' of material by Wolfgang Voigt under his Mike Ink moniker, and Richie Hawtin. The variations were made by playback of the original artist records on a turntable of Brinkmann's design, which has two tone arms with separate outputs for left and right channels. The turntables were then pitched down from 33rpm to 27rpm and the results recorded and mixed. Both Voigt and Hawtin were sufficiently impressed they released the results on their own labels. Since then Thomas Brinkmann has produced some all-time classic dance tracks, many of which are collected here in what is a personal selection by Thomas Brinkmann himself. There are unreleased tracks, different versions, and tracks that have never been released on vinyl.

France's muscle machine and number one when it comes to body techno has landed at Hayden Paynes ( Phase Fatale ) Bite label, where Sarin, Imperial Black Unit and Silent Servant have released records. And of course Terence Fixmer doesn't come empty-handed either: Invasion is the name of his new EP, which will be available from July 3, 2020. Three tracks are on invasion to be heard, which, according to the label's announcement, are among the toughest to date. They do, but they still can't match the rock hard EBM numbers of the early years, which is due to the lack of a massive bass drum. From there, however, they have everything that made Fixmer special: pulsating sounds, cutting sequences, metallic hammering, appropriately dark depth, a rich production and, as in the case of the title piece, some vocal parts.
