From Francesco: "After first performing together at Sonar Festival with what was essentially a live version of our respective "B.O.A.T.S." and "Adamant" albums, Thomas and I decided to expand on these ideas for something more broad and improvisation-centric. After months in the studio drinking nothing but amaretto and working on new music for this purpose, our new live experiment (now simply called CW/A) was ready. The reception on these shows was so (thankfully) positive that Vakant eventually pressured us into releasing some sections as tracks. "Conducting the Method" is nothing other than a sample of what this new project is about: a collection of three excerpts taken from this year's performances. To round things off, we invited over our friends Dead Heat for a reinterpretation of one of our tracks. We can state with confidence that we are excited these tracks are no longer confined to our club and festival performances and can't wait for everyone to hear them. Hopefully you will enjoy them as much as we enjoy playing them out. "

The third instalment of the Bodybuilder Quartet has arrived, and once again label boss Nachtbraker adds an exciting name to the Quartet Series manifesto. Moscow native Kuzma Palkin previously released a double 10” and a double 12” on quality Russian imprint Gost Zvuk, but is also known for his productions under his Audiocad (Between Us) and Kausto (Shanti Records) noms de guerre. Make sure to check those out if you haven"t already. Here, Kuzma serves up an EP as deep as they come, with greasy, industrial and glitchy sounds floating on steady beats. Title tune “Macho Culture” is a peaktime roller for darker club spaces with its deep melodic stabs, slapping snares and a haunting synth. Also on the A is “Muscle Mass Increase”, which is cut from the same haunting cloth but comes with an edgy saw synth that will have the punters reach for the lazers. Flip over for “Proper Sauna Chill”, which comes with a thumping kick, beautifully crafted sound design details and an undeniable groove. Closing Kuzma"s Quartet Series debut EP is “Krepkiye Bitsepsky”, another showcase of amazing sound design and warped stabs floating over a steady break beat and groovy bass line to round things off nicely.

OMEN Recordings is off running to the industrial techno races againand this third release has already been gaining traction around the globe with high anticipation and support from many respected producers and DJs alike. The Puppetskin EP written and produced by German and French artists RENDERED with remixes by American producers BLACK ASTEROID and AXKAN is off to a great start.
RENDERED starts off strong with the title track“Puppetskin" (A1), with strong breakbeat kicks, thrashing snares and rich synth lines that are melodic and spacey. The dancefloor will surely love the Charles Manson samples. “Nightmoves” (A2) also heads the pack with shuffling kicks while rich, minor-tuned pads take you on a persistent journey. About half way through, you will be moved by a 4/4 pattern that sneaks in and will be a favorite for the dancers. BLACK ASTEROID’s remix of “Puppetskin” (B2) does not disappoint as signature Black Asteroid textures and rhythms come alive in this rendition. Although it has rounded, full soundscapes that sound perfect for a large venue, its pumping, hypnotizing bass lines and screeching sirens keep you pulled into the darkness. AXKAN stays in the pack with his earthshattering remix of “Puppetskin” (B1) by starting slow with a profound intro to then push the audio boundaries with his powerful kick and bassline, to gain more and more strength with vocal samples, distorted drums and FX. AXKAN uses every stem of the original in such a creative way to help win the race.

UK producer Allen Saei aka Aubrey is no stranger to Burek family, having already remixed Information Ghetto's "Inspiration" track for Burek in 2013 and DJ Stingray's "Communication System" track released on Barba in 2015. As is to be expected from a guy who's been spending time in the studio for better part of the last three decades, on 13th Barba release Aubrey delivers a mature and consistent space-themed club 12" titled "Space Funk". Although pretty self-referential as a whole, each track on the 12" offers a different take on the topic. "Clock Funk" and "Space Jazz" are quite direct and peak time, "Spaceship Blues" is a chunky funk workout and "Path To Nowhere" is somewhat deeper introspective piece. Common thread moving through all four cuts is an infectious groove intertwined with synth lines that would not be misplaced amongst the best examples of space-influenced techno music firmly grounded on the floor but with eyes on the future. All that, pressed onto a heavy duty 180 gram vinyl and beautifully packaged in an original artwork by local artist EmaEmaEma.

Dripping Acid is a series of separate 12"s exploring themes of melodic liquid acid. Part 2 of 6 limited releases by the Tin Man!! -- For Tin Man, acid endures. Like the lapping of a sizzling ocean on the shores of a distant planet, the peaks and troughs of expansive 303 basslines have been a constant in the music of the producer born Johannes Auvinen. He dedicated his mid-2000s early period to the sound, and even as his productions have expanded in scope and style - from the vocaltinged techno of Cool Wave, Wasteland and Perfume, to the intricate, classical-leaning compositions of Vienna Blue - he has returned often to Roland's indelible bass synthesizer. His plaintive, searing melodies have anchored Absurd Recordings' venerable Acid Test series since its first release, and they've punched through the mix in the club music of recent collaborations with Gunnar Haslam (Romans), with Cassegrain, and also with John Tejada. So it wouldn't be accurate to call Tin Man's latest project, Dripping Acid, a rededication. Yet his most ambitious project to date - six 12"s comprised only of new acid compositions - embraces the style as wholeheartedly as he ever has. While the brittle machine-music of '80s Chicago is the blueprint of any acid track, Dripping Acid refrains from revivalism, instead looking forward and inward as it harnesses the 303's psychedelic potential through sumptuous production and adventurous composition. Though it's focused on a single style, Dripping Acid is tremendously diverse, expanding upon the evocative physicality of its track titles ("Evaporated Acid," "Drenched Acid," "Oozing Acid") to rend dancefloors of all shapes and sizes. Tin Man's acid can be exuberant and coy, bleak and technicolor, maximalist and impressionistic, even completely unrecognizable as acid - but as Auvinen stretches the sound to the point of snapping, he shows there's still bend in a decades-old template, and plenty more alien waves to ride.

Schacke’s Make Them Remember is a point of genesis. From the insectoid trippiness of “Life Is Absurd” to the anthemic martial churning of “Make Them Remember” and the ocean floor pensiveness of “A Future Not Materialized”, the record mapped out the road ahead for not just Schacke, but for Copenhagen techno as a whole – a cornerstone in fast techno. Young Boy Dancing Group was initiated in 2014 as a mercurial dance collective with an ongoing alternating cast. The group deals critically with modes of dance production, digital culture, originality and institutionalisation. Past performances include the Lithuanian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2015 and Manifesta 11 in Zurich, among others. The artwork for Schacke’s “Make Them Remember” is made up of a photo documentation from a performance by the group in Copenhagen in 2016.

In terms of experimental, techno, very few come close to the impact that this UK producer has had on the scene. With a sound that is rarely classifiable, Randomer’s Dekmantel contribution is a staggered, minimally-twisted, dark, kind-of-two step, awesome thing. Versatile Records’ Gilb’R has found himself an integral part of the Dutch scene since moving to Amsterdam, and brings forth his organic, percussive grooves that have helped define his music, and label to date. Salon Des Amateurs’ Tolouse Low Trax provides a seasoned session of amniotic, grizzled, hypnotic post-everything music, that is eerily discomforting and wonderfully pleasurable at the same time. And on the EP’s fourth track, Parisian techno wizard, Voiski adds layered organic, futuristic loops that work to stale the progress of time, and space.

To date the 10-year anniversary series has seen new releases by the likes of The Egyptian Lover, Levon Vincent, Gigi Masin, Fatima Yamaha, Burnt Friedman, and many more. Each record is held together by stylistic glue, touching upon the varying facets that come to define Dekmantel as a label, and event series. Along the way, many pioneering artists have been brought under the Dekmantel umbrella, making their debuts on the label – and this, the seventh EP is of no exception, with Gilb’R, and Tolouse Low Trax all releasing their first full tracks with the Dutch imprint, while Randomer and Voiski, having previously released on Dekmantel’s UFO techno side imprint, are also brought into the main fold.

Hamburg's Martin Stimming has defined a unique shade of deepness through years of association with Diynamic Music; melodic and meditative, quietly compelling and possessing a delicate strength. On EP5, legendary German musician Burnt Friedman makes his Dekmantel Records debut with ‘Monsun’. The Berlin based artist, who built a reputation for himself through his explorations into obscure, finely-tuned, experimental dub through his label Nonplace, alongside his collaborative relationship with the late Can drummer Jaki Liebezeit, is one of the crucial, sonic manipulators of our time. ‘Monsun’ finds Friedman crafting flowing, percussive, dub techno that is both esoteric, and progressive. Befitting of a Dekmantel release. Alongside Friedman sits legendary Detroit act Ectomorph, aka. BMG & Erika, also making their Dekmantel inauguration, with a record that surmises’ the group’s anologue, style of Motor City beats.

There would be no Dekmantel celebration without longtime family members, JuJu & Jordash. With three LPs and countless EPs released on the imprint to date, alongside a sleuth of festival, and party appearances, the improvisational duo have become masters of off-kilter, and poly-rhytmic electronic funk, of which ‘Neon Swing’ -a fast-paced and extremely invigorative cut- is of prime example. And then there’s Dekmantel favourite Fatima Yamaha – an artist who has a keen ear for gentle, analogue hooks that have gone to become ample festival fodder. Recognition opens up its archives and invites to a futuristic sentimental journey with respective stages set by the records 9702 (CD version) and 9799 (four exclusive tracks on a vinyl EP). Four tracks from single come from the time of Jacek Sienkiewicz’s first record (Recognition CD). These earliest recordings openly refer to a formula and rhythmical density of Detroit Techno, although end result of this confrontation turns out to be surprisingly “separate” and individualistic. In turn, 9702 album contains a set of varied tracks recorded withing five years after Warsaw label’s launch and its first release. This collection of music from Recognition’s first five years, surprising for its freshness and sheer impetus, is a must for all fans of Jacek Sienkiewicz and Polish electronic music of the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. In connection with publication of yet-unheard tracks, Jacek shares another slice of yet-unknown artistic vision, connecting sound with other media such as image, light and movement. Seattle/San Francisco based Techno label, From 0-1 issue "Time Dilation", a 12" vinyl/digital EP by label director, and co-owner Milkplant (Justin Pennell) of the San Francisco Bay Area. Andrei Morant and From 0-1 co-owner Sone join in as remixers. Including an endless groove and two locked grooves, this piece of vinyl is meant to be as utilitarian for the vinyl DJ as possible. 'Dimension 4' starts off the EP with a classic big room percussive Techno vibe, closing in an endless groove. Following is Andrei Morant's absolutely punishing treatment of Dimension 4, a tearing lead, and searing percussion point to the main room. Two locked grooves, one percussive, the other synth based close out side '0'. On the flip side Milkplant's 'Spherical' reps a tight "future-retro" vibe; elements of old Motor City Techno dominate with a bit of grit to keep it dirty. Sone dials in a perfect toned down, more expansive and hypnotic interpretation of Spherical showcasing slowly evolving filters and modulation fit for the wee hours of the morning. 'Plasmic' is included only as a digital extra in this release- tough, noisy, and a little tripped out with a bit of swing to keep them on the floor.

Sasha continues to make this year his own as he drops his debut EP on Watergate, ‘GameOvr’. The EP features two original tracks, including the long-awaited ‘Trigonometry’, and first class remixes from Cassy and La Fleur. After his recent critically acclaimed sell-out live shows at the Barbican and his ‘Out Of Time’ EP on Kompakt, not to mention gearing up for his RESISTANCE residency with John Digweed in Ibiza, Sasha officially confirms his debut release on Watergate Records. ‘Trigonometry’ has been a highlight in Sasha’s sets in recent months and has sparked many a heated debate online, from excited pleas for a Track ID, to urgent demands for a release date. The track is as ethereal as it is compelling, constantly building up to the sublime break down and those iconic chords that have left ravers spellbound worldwide. Swedish born Berlin-based La Fleur puts her stamp on the remix, keeping the riff but adding gravitas with a rhythmic bassline. She’s fast become a key player on the house and techno circuit, with a string of releases on the likes of Cocoon, Watergate, and Sasha’s own Last Night On Earth imprint. ‘GameOvr’ shows the producer’s tougher side; a strong techno track in keeping with Sasha’s constant focus on the future, always exploring new directions, though his signature groove is still on board. Revered Panorama Bar resident Cassy, whose stunning album ‘Donna’ was one of 2016’s outstanding releases, turns her hand to remixing the title track, delivering a harder edged driving cut with a heavier kick drum, echoing chords and hypnotic percussion. This EP marks yet another creative landmark in this, one of the most fruitful and exciting phases in Sasha’s distinguished career.

Perfumes Of A Spring Mist delicately opens this latest EP with entrancing, processed soundscapes, beautifully haunting melody and simple rhythmic elements than seem to evolve naturally allowing you to get lost in the sea of vibrations. Xpan leans on the more classic Dub Techno sound from Deepchord of years passed. Sub heavy beats and jagged yet tranquil synths sweep across the palette as Deepchord plays with constantly fluctuating chords, bringing the quintessential 90s Deep Techno into his more modern, processed sound. Title track Campfire brings ambience to the forefront to close out the EP. Melancholic synth elements drift across an expanse of refined and uniquely crafted field recordings, offering an insight into the areas from which Deepchord draws his inspiration.

Once again Deepchord proves to be one of the most visionary artists the electronic world has seen.

Based in the industrial harbour of Rotterdam, the fresh started 'Self Reflektion' techno imprint presents its first release. The person responsible for starting the label is stranger, who also goes by the not-so-mysterious name of Mitchel Polderman in daily life. His debut release 'Warehouse Memoires' reflects his passion and interest for the 90's warehouse rave sound in various ways, all produced while living in a Warehouse down the docks of Rotterdam.

Featured on the release are the original mix, a recording which can be marked as a 2014 warehouse techno track. The 'UK Rave mix' probably speaks for itself, breakbeat influenced techno, 90's UK warehouse material. The US Revival mix takes you from Chicago to New York in 4 minutes, and closing off the release is the Bergweg mix - an additional DJ Tool for the hoover freaks.

Russia’s Paval Milyakov, aka Buttechno, tends to his screwier, inquisitive side for TTT with a gauzy batch of ambient, folk and house experiments, swerving between the lines of his records for Japan’s City-2 St. Giga, Collapsing Market and his Gosha Rubchinskiy AW16 soundtrack, to the dankest parts of his bedroom-baked club sound.

This is music for hanging out on cold, concrete corners in your most flammable trackies, taking in pastoral electro-folk meditation Gosha Medvedeva, his Pole-esque Slow Dub, and the skinny, bone-pinching swing of K4 on the one hand, before decorating those skeletal structures with more fleshly samples of Russia pop in the low key seduction of Poleva, and something like a roadside house rave played on empty vodka bottles, oil drums and cardboard boxes in the Brinkmann-like Metallo, and a nervily grubbing, spooked-out house ace named Super Siziy King.
