Back in! We are very happy to present our first album on Ilian Tape. At the beginning of 2014 we moved our two separate bedroom studios into one and soon after started working on the album. All the tracks were made in about 6 months in our new Ilian Tape Space Studio in Munich. The time felt right to focus on this adventure, but without any pressure. Therefore the process became very natural and we felt free to go wherever the vibe led us. Our intention was to create a very personal and honest sound without any limitations or guidelines. It’s a reflection of all the years we’ve been growing up, working, traveling and playing together and it means a lot to us. But enough said music is not supposed to be described with words, so sit back, close your eyes, light one up and turn up the speakers!

The original Winx mix is a classic, often imitated, never bettered, but the real gem here is Richie Hawtin's manic, almost borderline sinister 15+ minute reworking.
Monster doesn't do it justice, tweaked out, narcotic, minimalist jacking gear. A dope combination of severe LOW end and some bracing sine waves that cut straight through. This one will surely test any club sound-system, if the venue is built for it you will know! This is one for the real heads, pure late night business oft overlooked for the more famous A-side, but trust us - Hawtin's mix will smash any dance! Tomas Barfod, Tomas Hoffding and Jeppe Kjellberg aka WhoMadeWho have paved an illustrious career spanning numerous singles and two acclaimed full length albums. They have certainly been one of the few acts in the past decade to successfully redefine the term “crossover” in music thanks to their genre hopping creative tact. Now, WhoMadeWho team up with Kompakt to bring you this very special release. Following a long tour and still riding on success of their last full length "The Plot"(2009), in early 2010 the Copenhagen trio isolated themselves in several rooms of an semi-built hotel near the harbour of their hometown. The days at the hotel quickly evolved into a musical pendant of a tour-de-chambre, with ideas being kicked back and forth between the band members working in separate rooms. During the writing process, two musical directions occurred and instead of trying to merge the two, the band decided to record two albums. First up is what we have here - the mini album "Knee Deep”, while the full length is set for release later this year. This eight track mini album clearly shows the band's love for electronic music in conjunction with 60’s inspired psychedelic vocal productions. The band has deliberately chosen to save the more melodic and radio friendly songs for "the second album" though it’s obvious that the single “Every Minute Alone” is one of the most brooding and greatest songs we’ve heard from them. As drummer and electronic handyman Tomas Barfod puts it, the mini album came from the desire to create "a focused listening album that draws on a more abstract musical starting point.” Even from the very first minute of the opening track, “There's An Answer", it becomes obvious that WhoMadeWho are painting with a darker pallet than on previous records. With an intense use of bass clarinet and a forward driving beat, the song reflects certainty and insecurity in search of answers: "There's an answer to it / There must be an answer to it." These themes of turmoil and searching are also present on the first single, "Every Minute Alone": "Every hour of doubt / Trying to figure it out / Should I call you up?"

The Hacker, Maxime Dangles, Lunatic Asylum, Torgull. Astropolis Records adds to Misericordia's W.LV.S (Electric Rescue and The Driver) four remixes that amplifies the rave vibe of the EP released last year, with more power and agression, with four distinguished guests from techno and hardcore spheres: french veteran THE HACKER, the mysterious and rare LUNATIC ASYLUM, the pilar MAXIME DANGLES and techno hardcore figure TORGULL. A must have for all lovers of the french techno and hardcore scene, a wild ride taking you straight to hell!

The tracks’ calm and clear textures are grounded by urgent, unspecific turbulences, that time and again break through as instances of a ghostly real. As is typical for the band, the masterful and gentle synth arrangements are of an utmost formal rigor without being ostensibly elaborate or pretentious. Unlike on their recent long-play efforts, the band has not collaborated with guest vocalists on »Garzweiler«. A compelling choice, considering the logic of the record: The EP’s sound is devoid of humans—not, however, as a human futuristic vision, along with trite robot, machine, or space-age kitsch, but from the perspective of an already de-settled, or indeed: unsettled reality.

Brothers Wolfgang and Reinhard Voigt are rightly considered main initiators of Kompakt’s aesthetic, with the prolific output from both artists ranging from early Profan’s anti-beat science to richly layered ambient studies or dry-witted techno anthems for demanding floors.

Victor Calderone has a very colourful history within the music scene working with the likes of Sting acting on Madonna's recommendation to remix 'Desert Rose' after also remixed Madonna's 'Frozen'. Having previously worked with Nicole Moudaber, they released a joint EP on Drumcode named, 'The Journey Begins' to great success. As a solo artist and DJ, Victor has been a resident at Roxy in New York and Liquid in Miami and has been working in the music industry since the early 90's to great success. Victor Calderone has stepped up for his first solo release on Drumcode with his two track single, 'Burden'. Featuring two energetic tracks, 'Skin' and 'Burden', Victor has used effected vocals to create funky rhythms over the top of some steaming kick drums. The synth stabs lend themselves well across this EP particularly in 'Burden' where they really augment the flow of the track. The use of percussion phrases throughout both tracks on the single also reinforces the grooves and adds character to create a distinctive sound that keeps the single fresh and exciting.

The intention of Stiff Little Spinners was always to keep the party going and most of all to keep it interesting. With every new release, we introduce new artists and almost always new genres - shoo-bi-doo house, rumble tec, abrasive electronica, stress ambient, you name it! Stiff Little Spinners Vol. 9+10 showcases new and known talent from Hamburg to Berlin via Warsaw and Texas.

The publication Source Book 1 represents the beginning of a and authorized review of the past 20 years of the label Raster-Noton. A short introductory preface by olaf bender is followed by a keynote interview conducted by berlin publicist Max Dax that provides an insight into the identity and philosophy of the label heads. The main part of this first Source Book comprises the extensive catalog of all releases and series published between 1996 and 2016. Tabular listings of various formats and products that were distributed or curated by Raster-Noton complete the catalog. A further exclusive part of the publication is the accompanying Archiv 4 CD, which is only available in connection with the book. Raster-Noton‘s Archiv series was first introduced in december 2003 as a supplement to The Wire magazine and has since been continued in loose sequence with different artists related to the label. Following the idea of the label which defines itself as a platform for its artists, the releases in the catalog part are not presented according to their format, invested effort or meaning, but sorted according to their catalog number and presented on exactly one double page, whereas some series were summarized. As a continuation of this archival revision, further »source books« are planned that will document artist profiles, installations, composition techniques and sources of inspiration. The Source Book 1« is limited to 1.000 copies. Its modular design allows to remove, exchange or add pages, which makes it possible to update the content in due time. A cardboard slipcase covers the 400-page, 3-kilo book and guarantees a safe stand in the bookshelf.

Love What You Feel is back, and the family is expanding! LWYF-005 is a various artists EP featuring jams by four master craftsmen of house and techno whose music has been a mainstay in the record boxes of the label heads for years. A variety of moods makes this record essential for deejays who value versatility and quality in their bag.
A1. Santiago Salazar - “Espacio Profundo”
Santiago Salazar is one of the underground’s most accomplished players, having been involved with the Ican and Los Hermanos projects amongst many others. With releases on Planet E, Underground Resistance, and Rush Hour you know you can expect the finest production. His track “Espacio Profundo” is a deep, beautiful house jam with an almost disco bassline, perhaps different from what you’ve heard from him but no less outstanding.
A2. Lerosa - “Ausgang”
Lerosa has been releasing bangers through a variety of labels throughout the world, with his album on Uzuri and EP for Apartment being the most recent examples. On “Ausgang”, he creates a perfect summertime house track based around a looping vocal snippet and funky synth chords, sure to kill at outdoor sets and pool parties as well as clubs.
B1. Moonstarr - “Complications”
Moonstarr may have been relatively quiet recently, but his track record speaks for itself: releases on Sonar Kollectiv, Compost, and his own Public Transit contain many classics. For LWYF, Kevin contributes his craziest jam in a decade, “Complications”, one that is sure to be another party classic! A raved up cut with tight broken techno drum patterns, this will appeal to fans of funky dance music from bass to house and more.
B2. Jason Fine - “Bang”
Jason Fine got his start releasing music on Omar-S’ famed FXHE Records, and since then has been dropping heaters on Kontra-Musik that have been played by many top techno deejays. “Bang” explores the deeper end of his sound, with thick bass and delayed chords to create a hypnotic mood that will work wonders in late nite sets, making the heads go nuts.

Final instalment of our 3 x 12" compilation features two Jheri stalwarts - Styles Upon Styles boss Cambo returns with the brooding "Stent", Oakland's Bastiengoat laces us with another neck snapper. All City worker bee Sage follows up his recent Tasteful Nudes 12 with "Tidy Wires".To complete a packed line up we're happy to welcome freerotation resident Duckett, Belgian auteur Hantrax plus Dubliners Bong Gozling & DJ Carey to the crew.

Number 2 of three kicks off with the menacing sounds of Anastasia Vtorova’s (Machine Woman) 8 minute "Iron Curtain", meandyou co founder Herron (Sam Lewis) made on appearance on the first Jheri Tracks comp and is back with the percussive stop start vibes of "Yusmita". Sias returns to the fold with his brand of post punk techno on "Brickfields" with SBOT & Soft Stone completing the set.
