After early work with Lady Gaga, Lady Starlight immediately entered techno's upper echelons playing live alongside Surgeon, earning the respect of one of the genre's most legendary hard asses, no small feat for an artist only then emerging. Forming a strong alliance with Len Faki's Figure reinforced her upward trajectory, so it's with considerable stature we introduce 'Choose', her first full solo EP since 2020.

'Choose' makes its choice from the beginning when the mutated, squealing vocal sample and insistent percussion command dancers to the floor. She adds sophistication with melodic ideas, quick breakdowns, and constantly shifting drums, the instability maintaining momentum. 'Permian-Triassic' could refer to earlier eras of techno Lady Starlight seeks to bury, although droning pads poke out of her deep soundscapes like fossils from the 90s framed elegantly. Excited like its title, 'In a Tizzy' centers its nervous energy around a seesawing motif until it breaks apart halfway through, then rides it into oblivion on top of rapid-fire drum fills and a return of the theme. The title track closes in the darkest mode, its tricked-out breakbeat evading dancer's expectations and the heavily-processed noises squalling in the background providing no respite.

Closely following a busy 2023, GiGi FM announces her brand-new record label, offering “Kiwi Synthesis Diary Vol. 2” to mark the debut. Sea~rène takes aim at dreamlike and ethereal electronic music to reconnect the subconscious and the cosmos through immersive storytelling. As the identity quote of the label says itself “We are Sea~rène swimming in-between supernatural tides, forever following the emotional waves of the universe”.

Already quite accomplished in her milieu through an acclaimed release on Bambounou’s Bambelabel, where she explored the relationship between bodily technologies and music, as well as through her residency on NTS Radio where she explores inter-dimensional sounds and shares her own musical palette, GiGi also continues to perform at strings of performances in the past years in settings like Berghain, Rural Japan, Draaimolen, Fabric, De School, Primavera, The Bunker New York, and Sustain Release. The French/Italian artist takes her productions further with this first release of her imprint. A continuation of her first self-released project, “Kiwi Synthesis Diary 21k,” in 2021, GiGi FM celebrates the exchange between her, as the owner of the journal, and its reader through euphoric soundscapes and vibrant psychedelia. Taking a step back from lockdown introspections, blurred lines between dream and reality like ambient and drony atmospheres, GiGi gives us a bent club record full of colors and life.

GiGi FM guides us through dreams of sonic environments and the adventures to be had through them. Some are characterized by evolving fractals and shifting landscapes like in the healing mushroom journey of ‘Amadamushies’ and the mythical Japanese Heron ‘Tsuru’. Combining steady rhythm and immersive ambiances, the result intends to soothe into a state of openness through kindly familiar territories. Sifting through the tracks, we find ourselves traveling fast through cosmic ecosystems like in the spiritual and cosmic teaching that “Tevora'' represents, as well as ‘Househopping (Keroppi)’ and “Sly Xupete Di Barcelona,” conveying the urgency to feel and create, even within difficult circumstances, while “Spazio Teletrasporto'' takes us on a hypnotic whirlwind trip into the depths of the cosmos and our inner consciousness. Deeply influenced by astrology, philosophy, and the cosmos; for GiGi, music is both a tool for expression and introspection. Everything you will hear in the record was performed by humans and insects, spoken and sung by living beings, roughly a decade before the “smartphone”, which is probably the most stupid, final creating of mankind. The Alzheimer ensemble still exists and fully supports this initiative of celebrating the 24th year of its first of two published albums on vinyl. Skatebård is one of the very best Classic Techno producers from Norway since the early 2000's - the distinction from others simply lies within his sense of melody, rhythm and live arrangements. The 2002 release "Skateboarding Was A Crime" on Tellektro had a clear thread of Detroit Techno and Electro, a craft and influence that also heavy club hitters "Conga", "Ta-Ta Arr" and "Emotional Bits" on Sex Tags Mania strongly carried. It's unarguably always a "classic touch" in his dance music, but still it always sounds like a Skatebård production - there is simply no blueprinting in true inspiration.

"Spektral LP" has been compiled and edited by DJ Sotofett with material from Skatebård's 2001-2005 recording archive. In short it's recordings nobody else cold get a hold of – fine tuned and restored into a synergetic and consolidated world of riding, mechanical and electronic funk - released on Skatebård's own Digitalo Enterprises.

Tracks "Seventh" and "Vaskemaskin" are both cymbal driven Techno cuts by the former metal drummer, one with chorded synth stabs growing in harmony, the other leaning on a dark sci-fi pad and a flipped vocal loop. There's a bit more of Skatebård's vocals on the beautifully robotic "Ei Anna Framtid", an alternate take of "Future" which Finlands Keys Of Life released in 2003. DJ Sotofett's mix of "Den Anarkistiske Anode" is nothing but a distorted head-schredding basement Techno blaster, while "Strengje", "Bassi" and "Spektral Elektro" punctuates the catchy Electro & Italo grooves Skatebård crafts so much better than most current producers.

Max & Intro was a short-lived duo formed by Vincent Max and Intro Johnnie in Belgrade. In 1984 they composed “Ostavi Sve” (in English: “Leave Everything”), probably the greatest ex-Yugoslavian minimal synth song of all times with heavy rotation on radio and even TV appearances. It was a tribute to Fairlight synthesizers, in that time non affordable for these young musicians and became an obsession, especially for Max. In 1985 was published their first and only release “We Design The Future” including “Ostavi Sve” and the B-side “Beogradska Devojka”, another synth gem. This re-release includes both tracks remastered from the original master tape. Limited edition of 500 copies.

Al Wootton returns to his label Trule with his second album “We Have Come To Banish The Dark”. The record is a product of dystopic times, taut with energy and restrained violence, yet never oppressive or nihilistic. The theme is one of unity, liberation and resistance to a darkening world, against the rising tide of fascism, hypercapitalism, and right wing politics. Yet there remains a constant hope and light, most evident in the downtempo roller “Devarim” and the closing bars of “May Your Angels Of Light Accept Him”.

Wootton brings to the fore his youth experiences playing in post-punk bands and his longstanding appreciation of Metal to this swung, robust techno album. “We Have Come to Banish The Dark’’ recalls the industrialism of Chris and Cosey, Coil and Throbbing Gristle, while the ghosts of the UK Hardcore continuum through Jungle and UK Garage remain an ever haunting presence. The rhythms maintain a flexibility and lightness of touch that provide contrast to the monochrome industrial sound palette.

Over nine tracks Wootton explores a variety of rhythmic styles, from techno steppers such as “Descender” and “A Pox Cast”, to the 4x4 house of “A Cruel Sun Over Catalonia”, the minimal Drum and Bass-esque “Number, Weight , Division” and the loopy techno of “The Norman Yoke”, while eschewing typical genre tropes to maintain a cohesive sound over the whole album.

We Have Come To Banish The Dark is an album that rewards both ecstatic club moments and repeated deep listening with its high energy and detailed, textured sound design.

Montreal-based imprint with a long-awaited repress of all three EPs: Variations,
Conspiracy Pt. 1, and Conspiracy Pt. 2.
Every track on 'Variations' is a battle-tested bomb. Gesaffelstein’s sound is clearly
influenced by New Wave and the Gigolo-era electro (2001-2) of fellow Frenchmen
The Hacker and David Carretta, but it sounds like a fresh update rather than
pastiche, revitalized and refined down to a modern and versatile core. These tracks
work in Tiga's festival sets alongside some of the summer's biggest anthems, yet are
equally at home in a more underground setting, e.g. Von Party's 5am warm-up
before Ivan Smagghe at a London warehouse party.
The title track has the most attitude, establishing a palette of dark staccato basslines,
crunching hi-hats, hands-in-the-air cowbells and trippy synth leads. Selected Faces
and Atmosphere are arguably even more straightforward club weapons, their
breakdowns creating just enough 'insanity' without getting annoying, their grooves
dropping back in with a cool, restrained power that will win over hiss-weary DJs.

Following de Witte’s breakthrough to the top of the electronic music scene in 2019 with her signature sonic approach that refuses to be boxed in, Overdrive is a reflection of this ethos. The EP aims to showcase street style that is both rough and energizing, while delivering high-energy tracks meant to pull listeners into the fast-paced thrill that unlocks one's turbocharged version of themselves. CdW x NYC Takeover De Witte is set to debut the Overdrive EP for the first time at upcoming shows at The Brooklyn Mirage in New York City on May 18 and May 19, 2023. The shows will serve as an ode to the raw fierce spirit that breathes in the corners of the city. The Brooklyn Mirage shows are one aspect within the Overdrive Campaign, which includes a larger New York City takeover, consisting of a Kntxt pop-up apparel store at Extra Butter on the Lower East Side.

The Kntxt pop-up at Extra Butter, May 16 - May 20, will offer exclusive merchandise and apparel with designs inspired by the EP and feature guest performances from artists from and related to the label. It will also mark the first time Kntxt merchandise will be sold in the United States, making it an eagerly awaited event for fans.

“Overdrive is a love story between hip hop and techno, it’s inspired by both genres, but coated in a techno jacket,” said de Witte. “It’s meant to be played loud while driving at night and watching the city lights pass by, and where better to experience that than in New York City?”

Overdrive marks de Witte’s first release since her single “High Street,” and first EP on her Kntxt label since her last EP, “Apollo” which was released in October 2022 as well as her collaboration with fellow techno artist Enrico Sangiuliano on the “Reflection” EP in March 2023. De Witte had previously worked with Sangiuliano on their remix of “The Age Of Love”, which amassed over 40 million streams on Spotify and achieved certified gold status in Belgium. De Witte’s other recent releases include her “Universal Consciousness” EP in 2022 and her “Formula” EP in 2021, which featured the chart-topping lead track “Doppler”.

is very proud to announce the release of Accidents 1994-2023. Formed by Orson Bramley and Martin Brown in
Bognor Regis in
1994, Transparent Sound have managed to create 30 years’ worth of some of the best electro from the British Isles,
despite
claiming to not know what they were doing nor how their instruments work.
It’s likely that it’s this lack of knowledge that led to the quality and longevity of their output - the pair experiment
and tinker with
the machines until something pleasing appears then follow that sound down whatever path seems fruitful: “the
confidence of
ignorance” as a slightly more-famous Orson, Orson Welles, once put it. This tactic has paid o well and found them
stumbling
into many notable adventures, from remixing The Cure to performing during an intermission between two halves of a
lecture -
none of which they understood as it was in Spanish.
The compilation collects a lucky-for-you 13 of their most glorious electrical accidents on a three-disc set including the
dancefloor hits Punk Mother Fucker (a mainstay of Villalobos sets at the time of release), and No Call From New York
(as heard on
Helena Hau’s perfect 2017 Essential Mix).
The package also comes with ‘Windows To Your Sole’ from the unreleased white label Transparent Sound 007, other
unreleased tracks, and special 2023 edits as well as six digital bonus tracks

“For the album, an important conceptual thought came from encountering a rare ear-shaped seashell called Petro Uvo (Peter’s Ear). I found it while diving in Dubrovnik, Croatia in the summer. Inspired by the sound of a foreign language, I decided to keep all the tracks in Croatian, some of them in the dialect of the town of Dubrovnik, because the atmospheric soundscapes of the tracks reflect memories and feelings of traveling through Croatia, the force of the sea and wind, the play of lights and moods.”

The formidable Rex The Dog returns with his first single for Kompakt in three years, “Change This Pain For Ecstasy”, a slow-burning disco-glitter stomp that’s charged with analog energy. Pushing his self-built modular hardware set-up to its limits, “Change This Pain For Ecstasy” is taut and thrilling, stripped-back and pulsating, with sweeping chords shimmering through a classic Moroder arpeggio, as a delirious voice sings out a psychedelic raver’s plaint for liberation, pleading for you to "take away my sorrow and this pain”. Deeply emotional, it’s also a masterwork in tension and release, dizzy with snare-rush peaks, and dark, humid valleys where Rex is bound to the patchbay.

On the flipside, Rex gives us “Moto”, which tickles your ear with cymatic phenomena, its gentle vibrations building, beautifully, into a monster-piece of stealth techno. Rex’s DIY synths work overtime as he chases patterns and phases through circuitry, wielding the tones until they erupt into a spray of pointillist pizzicato. The sounds here crackle and corrode, the textures so tantalizing, so sensual, you can almost grab hold of them with your hands. It’s great to have Rex The Dog back, making livewire, yet deeply human techno, alive and bursting with electricity.

A riotous, pounding danse macabre that oozes tar fumes and heated steel, the Lady Machine's 'Concorde' is no-prisoner techno in its purest essence, tailored to whip up a frenzy in any context, any time of the day. Walking the tightrope between an elevated sense of melodicism and mastered 4x4 uproar, Inigo Kennedy here again exposes the width of his skills when it comes to carving out durably haunting, soulful techno that sure knows how to harness energy and power from the ravers' hearts, whereas Adriana Lopez 'Gradual Illusion' steers us back to a further exhausting state of sublimation, and then utter dissolution. Whiz kid Quelza pulls out a big one with 'La Choregraphie Du Soleil', a much ambitious slab of visionary techno, splattered with the kind of breathtaking arrangements and scope-breadth you'd expect from more seasoned producers. True to his high-flying standards, Ukrainian maestro Stanislav Tolkachev goes full mental style with 'Must Be Loud', a genetically modified treat that'll get your senses in a weird sense of alert, while Rene Wise dishes out a massive burner in 'Smashing Around', as ever laser-precise and textured out to impressive effect.
