Our new slice of wax comes this time from outer space made somewhere between unknown galaxies and black holes. The spaceship’s pilot is 30drop, a mysterious alias that has been running its platform 30D for a long while now and is not often seen outside its realm. So it’s an honor for us to have 30drop onboard. For this special occasion 30drop provides six cuts of futuristic techno but with a ravey approach in a time backspin that brings us back to the 90’s via Sci-Fi, reminding in some way of the early UR records, when Mad Mike and Jeff Mills worked together on the soundtrack of the future. This is our first mini LP with 3 cuts per side. The first cut is Brain reset, the short drone intro soon leads to a relentless groove made of repetitive sequences over a fast groove. Intense and obsessive. Mental Understanding brings more minimalistic ingredients, absence of hi hats, just kick drum and synth lines. Brain effervescence showcases the infamous 90’s hoover sound bringing the rave element and 303 acid lines all merged in a lawless and dense mixture. B side opens with Self awareness, starting with ethereal atmospheres, spiced with resonant bleeps and micro drones in a beat-less exercise. Klapaucjusz brings back the 90’s feeling again with analogue arpeggios and melodies, again over a clean groove in a Detroit oriented number. Closing the release, Knowledge, a space odyssey of strings, abstract synth lines and flotation. The album’s title draws from the club night “Technicality”, a monthly Drum & Bass night at Herbal in East London, which is run by Chris Inperspective and continued the sound of early Reinforced and Metalheadz records as well as pushing new forward thinking music. The album is centred around growing up as a teenager discovering this jungle/drumfunk sound through his college friend Rahim (Lab Creation), where the likes on Fold, Ben UFO, Breakage would attend the club.

In addition to well received records on DirtyBird, Pets Recordings and his collaborative work with Leon Vynehall as Laszlo Dancehall, the album is a stamp on A1’s sound and his influences from his teenage years to growing up and discovering House and Techno.

The Drumcode founder is measured when it comes to signing music to his own imprint, biding his time till the stars align. His last individual outing was 2015’s ‘Stone Flower’ EP, which included the thrilling label favorite ‘What You Need’. A succession of classy collaborations followed, linking with DC’s most vital artists highlighted by ‘Your Mind’ with Bart Skils, proclaimed one of the best tracks of the last decade by Mixmag. An EP that gives a nod to uncertain times, while remaining resolutely positive, ‘No Defeat No Retreat’ was written during Beyer’s fruitful production sessions during lock down. The opening track, ‘Park People’ sets the pace with an energetic, 80’s nu wave creating the track’s spine. Its hypnotic energy stems from a powerful synth riff and vocal sample culminating in a skillfully balanced track that neatly combines the old with the new. The title track is a study in contrasts, deftly crafting a muted, nagging vocal hook and infectious bass line into a slice of forward-facing, edgy techno. With its subtle, undulating layers of melody building in the background, it ushers in an understated sense of euphoria, making it a perfect end-of-set mood-maker. A thrilling return!

Adam Beyer has been showing us the extent of his versatility for years and this EP solidly cements the idea that Beyer can confidently swing between genres and keep up his consistently high standards within electronic music. 'You're The Same' is a remarkable piece of work and keeps the tech house bods moving and shaking. All the tracks on this three-part stunner are chunky, solid grooves, that are infused with dashes of techno, house and dub. Vocal snippets are used to create some spine tingling hooks as well as moody pads to create eerie atmospheres. The hypnotic minimalism of “Dawn Of A New Day” is sustained with floating key chords, before an unexpected turn at the halfway point blooms into thrumming synths, handclaps and murmurs. “The Sound Of The Sun” captures and keeps rich golden beams, guiding them to refract and resonate against glassy percussion and an urgent tech-infused beat. Distorted acoustic notes are stretched and warped, adding noirish desert tones in contrast to rising fever-pitch cymbals. “Time Of Light” then charges into view, raising the heat with peaktime energy as insect sounds are looped and transformed into a pulsing accompaniment. Bringing things to a steamy conclusion, “Baba Himalaya” borrows from tribal traditions to pay tribute to cross-cultural sounds, pulled forward by sweeping vocal solos and harmonic choruses.

Austrian hardware-only liveact Anml Mthr presents his 4th release on Florian Meindl's FLASH Recordings imprint and counts to the core artists of the label.
Heavily influenced by the Vienna and Berlin Techno scene of the 90s he was a regular visitor to Tresor Club as well as a shining raver at Gazometer Vienna.

UK-born producer Luke Standing aka Blue Hour has made a considerable impact since his emergence in 2013. A move from Bristol to Berlin precipitated a run of stellar self-released EPs that immediately won him an ardent following among techno's most revered DJs for a sound that offered a fresh take on classic techno and electronica, while always maintaining a supreme dancefloor functionality. Among those fans was Function, who included an exclusive track from Standing in his Berghain 07 mix and part I of its accompanying 12-inches.

Now Standing's self-titled outlet launches a new remix series, calling on some of those aforementioned fans to offer their own takes on a trio of the standout tracks from his label's first five releases. Ostgut resident Answer Code Request applies the driving hybrid techno-bass approach that has made him one of Berghain's brightest stars to Blue Hour 002 title cut Axis Motive; Paris-based Tresor resident Marcelus offers an ethereal take that focuses on Blue Hour 003's Reference 97's more hypnotic elements; and Ostgut Ton's Steffi is perfectly matched to the third EP's Moments, employing her signature sound that similarly offers a timeless anthemic quality to the original...
