Trespass / Cop Watch reaches outside of Deep Club’s inner circle, enlisting the talents of Grey People, one of the crew’s favorite American techno producers. After posting key releases for Proper Trax, CGI, and Public System Recordings, Grey People released 12-inches for Valcrond Video and Nerang Recordings, as well as a new album with fledgling French label 99cts Rcrds, all while commanding Nashville’s techno underground and helping run the budding TRAM Planet label and party crew. Adding to the fun, Occidental crawls back out of the shadows to contribute two brain-melting tracks to this split twelve.
Occidental starts it off with two not-so-similar versions of “Trespass”. “Trespass (Juss Feel It)” delivers 140 BPM of filthy frequencies straight to the brain stem in just over four minutes. You juss gotta feel it. Next, “Trespass Dat A$$” slows the pace down and turns up the spanking. This one is all about the thick, pulsing kickdrum, lush pads, and deep moans. The flip side belongs to Grey People. “Intercepting Encrypted Messages” channels a repetitive, bloopy synth rhythm and powerful drums before the hi-hats and claps smack the dancefloor. “Cop Watch” draws on Grey People’s Chicago roots for a dynamic and frenetic dance.

Orbite is a brand new project founded in Berlin, Germany with a nod towards the raw, dubby sounds often heard across the clubs in the city, and where better to inaugurate things than the recently launched sub-label of Copenhagen’s Echocord, one of the leading imprints in the realms of Dub Techno, home to pioneering acts like Rod Modell/Deepchord, Pole and Fluxion who have paved the way for Orbite’s own twist on the genre. Amsterdam based label Anagram readies label co-founder Sinfol's first solo release in three years entitled 'Pull Back'. The release, which features four passionate tracks, sees the light of day in the beginning of April. Since the launch of Anagram three years ago the label has put out a steady flow of releases from artists such as Anetha, Octual, Stefan Vincent, Elad Magdasi and Haze. However, the imprint has also acted as the main platform for Sinfol's own productions. Blurring the line between various subgenres, the Dutch artist is an eclectic one and meanders between acid, house, techno and more. The chords and arpeggios set the mood in 'Life Off Measure' where robotic elements rise to meet them, carving the way for 'Result' with its oscillating tones, clap fueled percussion and three-o-three licks. 'Pull Back' is packed with a thunderous energy that's intertwined with Sinfol's soulful vocals and ethereal synths, before swaying into deep house territory with 'Exhale'. The City of Clones takes us to a heavy atmosphere, as if we were waiting in the middle of a fog for the untying of the plot, though the denouement remains uncertain.

When Nobody Cares is an experimental journey through unexplored landscapes, with the discoveries marching under our eyes, which contribute to create an experience of fullness.

Too Many Ifs reminds and completes the cycle. Chaotic on purpose, it unveils the encounter of an intriguing living shape.

Now that his excellent free-to-download new double album, Stories From Sa Talaia, is out, HOSH is busy releasing the tacks from it on separate EPs. They come on the Ibiza based Diynamic associate's own fryhide label, and after part one comes part two with four more essential tracks.

The first is a collaboration with Tim Englehardt and is a supple track laden with emotive synth patterns. It has beats that rise up and down and take you on a trip to the outer edges of the galaxy. Then, Ocean Data is an eight minute deep techno opus with watery pads, a spacious atmosphere and icy hi hats driving things along as you get swept up in the groove.

On the flipside, HOSH links with Lehar and they come up with the brilliant O Fratello Mio, a driving track with physical drums and warped synth sounds. It is filled with subtle effects that add dynamism to the moody groove and again features some magical melodic sequences. Next up on Etruria beat, is the Dutch duo Hush & Sleep who have been steadily making name for themselves in the past year. They deliver a stunning two tracks EP with Farrago and Marco Effe on remix duty. The EP starts off on a joyous note with the track Mirth. As this is an old English word for gladness, the main melody takes you on a carefree ride supported by a stomping kick and dreamy pads in the back. Farrago takes a more stripped down approach with his version. He builds on the dreamy pad, making it serve as a warm blanket over his signature tight percussion. Contradicting Mirth, the second original slowly starts to drag you into a feeling of hysteria, hence the name. Taking their signature kick as the foundation, Hush & Sleep use a haunting melody that lingers on in the back and sets an eerie mood. Marco Effe’s remix is a deep stunning techno groover. Taking the main melody but twisting it into his own wonderful creation and sending you off on a journey into time and space.

Earlier this year Jamal Moss aka Hieroglyphic Being released “The Disco’s Of Imhotep” album via Ninja Tune’s Technicolour imprint. Drawing on the energy and spirituality of Sun-Ra, Moss conducted his machines to create a raw, pulsating and meditative work that focused as much on the dancefloor as on the synapses.
