Nottetempo are welcoming a new artist into their fold. Caramel Chameleon will be known already to many, his fluid brand of braindance having graced imprints like 030303 and Undersound’s NOUN sublabel. The sonic shapeshifter, Francesco Pio Nitti, arrives at the Milan label with Compact Demons.

Distorted beams and a steady kick introduce “…And You Feel So Lucky.” Drums descend into a glitchy soup of snare rolls before gentle notes take hold, a melody of soft synth warmth is dappled with breathy samples. Pound and thump are given a full workout in “Monologue Duetto,” echoes of glowsticks glimmer before the floor is calmed by silken keys. “d-_-b Future Is Blind” opens with oozing basslines and skittish beats. Tender pads and playful melodies bob and weave, breaks creating generous spaces for string-filled meditation to bloom in this absorbing work. Kicks return for “Inter27wined (cottage mix)”, a nervous energy soothed by globular synth-lines. A late evening feel permeates the piece, a comfort countered by Nitti’s bending and stretching of percussive patterns. For those needing a little more, Nottetempo have drafted in Legowelt for a remix of “…And You Feel So Lucky.” The track, available digitally, sees Wolfers sideline his own trademark sound to focus on the essence of the original. The result is considered interpretation, beats are relaxed and steady with a touch of analogue dreaminess coming to the fore.

There’s a sense that Caramel Chameleon is building up a head of steam. With each release, the Italian artist is further honing his sound as he crafts ever more intricate melodies and structures. Compact Demons is proof of this. In the same breath, Nottetempo continue to fortify their catalogue and roster with a release of excellent electronics. Quality cuts from Milan.

The first in the series brought together six musicians from far and wide, musicians who journey through the colder edge of their analogue instruments with a clear ear for the floor. Ses2 starts where its predecessor left off. The genre bending Ian Martin opens with the frigid funk of "Metaphysical Travellers." Stripped back, the track is bare in terms of its elements. Despite such meagre ingredients, Martin concocts an engaging and rich work of darkened grooves and sinister undercurrents. o-0._.0-o is the playful pseudonym of acid freetekno enthusiast Owen. His contribution, "Acidrobotik", releases a free and wandering 303 lines that forges a bubbling path through crisp percussion. The flip brings an artist better known for his work in techno. Cliche Morph delves into the clinical side of his palette and emerges with the stunning "Placebo." Balancing alienated and arctic blasts with a thawing warmth, the outcome is pure classic electro. A rising star of machine music follows, Fleck E.S.C. A dirty bassline is further sullied by layers of gritty distortion and glitched vocals in this re-wired work of ghetto. A legend of electronics closes, Kirill Junolainen. Under his lauded Konerytmi moniker, this synthesiser shapeshifter delivers "Kuva Alkio." Stuttering bass and tight drums are the foundation from which sci-fi inspirations take hold, sailing strings tethered by a terse snare as Ses2 is brought to a triumphal close.

Beau Wanzer rifles his archive for a batch of grotty screwballs applicable to thee strangest backrooms and K-holing sessions imaginable. ‘A Dead Person's Monologue’ racks up 8 excursions of patented, asymmetric club levellers, deployed at unusually downbeat angles and clad in atmospheric crud, as we’ve come to know from his string of releases both solo and in groups such as Mutant Beat dance with Traxx and Jason Letkiewicz and Streetwalker with Elon Katz, for labels such as L.I.E.S./Russian Torrent Versions, Jealous God and L.A. Club Resource over the past 10+ years.

iDEAL’s mucky curatorial paw print is all over this one, spotlighting that point where Wanzer’s wayward, effluent grooves intersect the gurning rhythmic chew of Aaron Dilloway or Nate Young’s Regression Sessions, and perhaps most strongly resembling the gristliest, no-fuucks-given bits of the ‘80s underground tape scene so formative to his sound.

Opener ‘Grumps’ sounds like he’s augmented the rhythm track to ‘Lady In Red’, V/Vm-style, for the dankest fetish basements, before he sashays thru the queasiest permutations of knackered machines on the smeared, Incunabula-esque lines of ‘Stear’ to the knee-capped trot of ‘A Burrowing Booboo’, the pure rhythmic noise grind of ‘Plaster Class’, and the buckled electro of ‘Warm Waterboarding’, with the closest you’ll get to romance on ’Simple Men’, plus an inimitable alloy of subvocalised glossolalia and crawling groove to bring us to a close on the title tune.

Four years on from the release of Astral Projection, ASC's last LP for Horo, a re-listen reveals a body of work that still sounds prescient and current, mapping out a simmering landscape that stood proudly on it's own in the crowded world of electronica.

Hiding in Plain Sight takes the musical baton left by Astral Projection and expands the environment. The two opening tracks (No Mask, A Whisper In Your Ghost) are sumptuous palette cleansers that paint the walls with bliss. Drumcode starts 2020 with a sterling EP from genre hero Thomas Schumacher, his first on the label after a long association with Adam Beyer.
No ifs or buts, if you’re a techno fan, Thomas Schumacher holds a place in your heart. His 1997 classic ‘When I Rock’ still gets rinsed, he has a vast body of stellar work on his influential former label Spielzeug Schallplatten, including a release from Adam Beyer, and he continues to deliver pin-sharp productions via his Electric Ballroom imprint, including a scorching remix of ‘The House of House’, the 1994 classic from Cherry Moon Trax. The rework was first played by Beyer at Time Warp and has been a 2019 highlight.
He first contributed to Drumcode in 2018 with ‘The Unseen’, a stirring contribution to ‘A-Sides Vol.7’, setting up a maiden EP with ‘Crimson’. Crimson’ is crafted around two minutes of tension-building synths, before a beat finally appears and a rasping deep bassline commands the dancefloor. ‘Feist’ is a no-nonsense brain melter, as 303 arpeggios bloom and recede, creating a thrilling rhythmic intensity throughout. Lastly ‘Anker’ brings the rave with eagle-eye focus, unleashing a wall of fierce acid to round out off the release.

The tracklisting isn't rigid — some of the musicians gathered here have in fact played at most of the available stages — but like a Möbius strip looping round, or a cat-and-mouse game, it's not hard to discern a symbiotic relationship. Split seven ways, DKMNTL100 is a testament to the art of curation and the importance of quality control.

At artist level, Dekmantel Ten finds room for several artists — including Karenn, Jeff Mills and Marcel Dettmann — who played at the very first Dekmantel Festival in 2013, and are by now impossible to detach. Uun returns to his imprint Ego Death for its 7th release. The vinyl version is pressed onto a special marble red and black color variation created specifically for this release. The artwork is printed on a partially translucent mylar lithograph. “The more things change, the more things stay the same. The progression of the digital space from a place where like minded individuals can get together over shared interests has gone the way of everything else in the modern world. There is money to be made after all, and data is worth more than gold. All around us are rent-seekers, hucksters, and those who seek to profit from what was never theirs. Platform Decay is the beginning of the end result. Everything that is unique and interesting is being flattened for maximum palatability and consumption. It is what the advocates like to call content. We have given all of ourselves away, so that we can be advertised to. All to chase the algorithm; the black box where art, culture, and creativity enter and only an amalgamation of disparate nothing exits. Atrahasis is the genesis, the original story, the prime instance of human creativity and storytelling. We sell ourselves sight unseen for the simulation of a social experience. You try to walk the tightrope between physical and digital but soon realize you can’t have both. However your engagement is up which is the upside of losing everything. Reaching into the past you finally realize the meaning of the lamassu, the double aspect. Only to be forgotten again as you are consumed by the ouroboros. The project is made whole by the evocative artwork of Ryote, who brings the themes together in a unique visual style. The beautifully printed vinyl insert lithograph print represents the digital tomb of social media, with the label art depicting the mythological double aspect.”

Drumcode hits 300 releases as the brilliant Mha Iri returns to the label for her second EP, 'Bombay'. Since debuting on Drumcode just a year ago with 'Never Go Back To Sleep', (her contribution to the debut Elevate compilation series and one of the best-selling techno tracks of 2023), the Scottish producer has rapidly established herself as one of Drumcode's most exciting new artists. A stellar debut EP followed in September with 'The Unexpected', before 'Bell' her cut on A-Sides Vol.12 charted #1 in Beatport's techno Top 100. Due to its success Drumcode chose it for the Change The Beat remix competition, and the remix from Yozé is a highlight on the latest 'Elevate Vol.II'. Amidst an impressive touring schedule which will include Awakenings main stage, Junction 2, Tomorrowland and Drumcode's Mysteryland main stage takeover this summer, Mha Iri has been active at Drumcode showcases, playing Watergate in Berlin and more recently the massive Drumsheds show in London. It was there her spit-fire new EP 'Bombay' shined in the huge halls of techno. A hypnotiser of the highest order, the title track is a fully-loaded barrage of tribal techno, crushing drums and vocals that unite for arguably Mha Iri's strongest track on DC to date. We can't wait to see this one launch. Pairing beautifully is 'Existence', a galloping slice of peak-time fare elevated by a rousing vocal.

Continually in a state of evolution with a future-focused vision, yet ensuring the signature sound that has defined the label and event series for over a decade remains at its core, Enzo Siragusa’s Fuse imprint is once again keeping things moving with new ventures, projects and concepts.

Having previously introduced the label’s collaborative X Series in addition to the launch of sister imprint Locus, summer brings a new project for 2024 as the label now presents its new vinyl-focused VA, welcoming four label debuts for the first instalment of the project. First up is Amstedam-based Nachtbraker, whose classy house sound has welcomed releases via Aus Music and Peach Discs, amongst many. His contribution, ‘Banda’, is deep and trippy, balancing light and dark moments via a warping bassline, sweeping pads and slinking drums.

Next, Phone Traxxx member and live wizard Rob Amboule makes his debut on the label following his appearance for the collective’s 15th birthday at fabric. Playful and vibrant, with wicked acid-dipped and funk-fuelled bass licks, ‘Capnhat’ perfectly showcases his sound as he delivers another gem.

On the flip, Melbourne-born, Berlin-based Reflex Blue lands fresh from his second EP on Gene On Earth’s The Sound Of Limousine imprint with the glitchy yet smooth ‘Life’s A Bleep’ - combining spacey tones, skippy drums and sporadic bleeps and lasers. To close, Un_Mute resident Mario Liberti harnesses influences from a classic to deliver a heady dancefloor anthem, fusing hooky vocal samples, murky low-ends and those iconic synth stabs.
