As C418, composer and producer Daniel Rosenfeld designs sounds to resonate in both physical and pixelated realms. Best known for his original soundtracks to Minecraft, the single best-selling video game of all time, he's developed a discography of instrumental music over the last decade that traverses electronic pop patterns, neo-classical dreamscapes, and sparse ambient motifs. The latter element has broken from the "8-bit" pigeonholing of game music and earned him accolades that reference artists like Erik Satie (The Guardian) and Brian Eno (vice). In 2015, after quietly self-releasing Minecraft Volume Alpha and Minecraft Volume Beta, Rosenfeld partnered with Ghostly International to reissue Minecraft Volume Alpha on vinyl and CD. The release garnered attention from proper music critics and the gaming community alike, becoming one of the most sought after records in the Ghostly catalog. Now, following several restocks of Alpha to fervent fan response, it is time for the soundtrack's second installment to shine. For the legion of listeners and players to, at long last, have Minecraft Volume Beta in tangible formats. Originally self-released in 2013, Minecraft Volume Beta was C418's longest batch of music to date at nearly 140 minutes. The collection features tracks that were "silently" added to Minecraft during its music updates and a few that never officially entered the game. The run time is now adapted to fit the double LP format, while digital downloads include the full set Rosenfeld's unmistakable abilities are on display; he creates a sweeping variety of musical ideas that mirror the limitless universe of Minecraft. Black Screen Records once again teams up with composer Chris Christodoulou and Hopoo Games to release the original soundtrack to Risk of Rain 2 on vinyl. The repress will be available on 3xLP vinyl and comes in a beautiful trifold sleeve with all-new original artwork illustrated by Italian artist Daniele Giardini. All 20 songs have been carefully remastered by Christian Bethge (Risk of Rain, Deadbolt, Divinity: Original Sin II, A Plague Tale) for the vinyl format.

The classic multiplayer rogue-like, Risk of Rain, returns with an extra dimension and more challenging action. No run will ever be the same with randomized stages, enemies, bosses, and items. Play solo, or team up with up to four friends to fight your way through hordes of monsters, unlock new loot, and find a way to escape the planet. In his third collaboration with Hopoo Games, Chris Christodoulou returns to the Risk of Rain franchise adding another dimension to the game’s music-verse. This two-hour-long genre-bending release spans from foreboding electronica to pounding progressive metal and features all music from the game and then some.

His soundtrack, due out in album form this Friday, hums with soft electricity, perfectly complementing the journey of the main character, Rue, a teenager caught in limbo between the euphoria of a drug high and the harsh consequences of addiction. “When you look back to your teenage days,” he says, “it feels semi-magical but semi-crazy and semi-psychotic. I started writing the the soundtrack way back when I was graduating from high school. Since then, I worked on it on the side while I attended university. CrossCode has always been part of my life, and I always tried to push myself to my limits to go out of my comfort zone. I hope you all have a great time with CrossCode and enjoy its music!

Of the soundtrack, Stetson says:

"The question posed initially when conceiving of this score was what exactly is the sonic representation of a cosmic alien color that does not exist in this terrestrial reality? I began trying to answer that by layering the sounds of coral reefs, processing that cacophony and finding the order revealed through harmonic generation of these hyperdensities, and then continued to chase that same concept of 'transfiguring the natural' down every path and application I could see. Turns out it's somewhere between magenta and hot pink :)"

Sacred Bones Records celebrates its 15th year anniversary by repressing this incredible debut by the one and only master of horror on vortex blue vinyl. John Carpenter has been responsible for much of the horror genre's most striking soundtrack work in the fifteen movies he's both directed and scored. The themes can instantly flood his fans' musical memory with imagery of a menacing shape stalking a babysitter, a relentless wall of ghost-filled fog, lightning-fisted kungfu fighters, or a mirror holding the gateway to hell. The music on Lost Themes is there for Carpenter's acolytes to visualize their own nightmares. As is Carpenter's style, repetition is the key to the thundering power of these tracks, their energy swirling with shredding chords, soaring organs, unnerving pianos and captivating percussion. This new limited 50th anniversary edition of this cult, sought-after soundtrack—a masterpiece of Italian Giallo cinema—is fully remastered from original tapes, includes two bonus tracks and is destined to become a staple for the collectors of the genre and for the fans of the golden age of Italian and horror cinema, making it an essential release of Record Store Day 2022.

50 years ago, Franco and Luciana De Gemini had recently moved to Rome, both looking for their place in the world. He a talented musician, she a beautiful young bride, they lived in a small penthouse with a huge terrace full of flowers and views that spanned Rome, from the dome of St. Peter to the Altar of the Fatherland to the Castelli Romani: over 40 kilometers of the Eternal City. Through his collaborations with many great maestros of the period and his involvement with the orchestras, Franco got to know many people including Fulvio Corradini and Benito Costa (the former an administrator of prestigious record catalogs, the second a trusted friend). In fact, they had already caught wind of a small record label called Beat Records Company, founded on May 12, 1966, but the two had no time to devote to the endeavor so they trusted its administration to Franco De Gemini by actively involving him as a partner. It was on March 23, 1968, that they set foot in that office on Viale Medaglie D'oro. Beat had published 58 tracks, had 16,500 Liras in cash and a tax fine of 140,000 liras for failure to report. That was the day that Franco and Luciana began their adventure, which would last for him until July 20, 2013, and for her until March 3, 2016. It was an Intense fifty years, always with one foot on an airplane, in a smoke-filled recording studio, in front of a Moviola viewing the scrolling images of film or around a table with incredible characters, to talk, create music and art, or simply to enjoy life. That little two-year-old son that was once picked up and held by Franco and Luciana is now a man of 50, a man with whom generations of film and music fans have been able to cultivate their passions, served and revered by the tireless work of this incredible couple. Having reached this important landmark in time, with over half a century of history behind us, we decided to revive five significant favorites from our musical catalog and replicate them in their original format, a tribute to our past and yours. The fifth appointment of this revival is with one of our scores unreleased on vinyl, Alla Ricerca DEL Piacere by Teo Usuelli, a score we love deeply for a movie featuring the divine Barbara Bouchet, a beautiful icon beloved on both sides of the ocean. The music--iconic as well, and among the most appreciated in our catalog--has been included on Beat at Cinecittà albums and used by the Cohen bros., who included Piacere Sequence M36 in The Big Lebowsky. Welcome everyone to our 2nd previously unissued tv soundtrack, & what an honour to put out some of this amazing tv & film music history. Back around 1977/78 Stu Gardner and his group "The First Cousin Ensemble" who recorded the wonderful LP "For the cos of jazz" were signed to powerhouse label Capitol records. The group consisted of many members of Stu's close musical network. And often changed personnel. On the Two Block Hero soundtrack we had such heavyweights performing like James Gadson (Drums) , Rudolph Johnson (Saxophone) Ray Parker Jnr (Guitar) & Melvin 'Wah Wah" Watson . Stu was approached by the big wigs at Capital to lay down a soundtrack for a new TV movie that was in production called "The Two Block Hero" a tale of growing up too fast , not learning life's real lessons of family values and working hard to make a living. For some reason towards the end of the production the TV movie was scrapped and the subsequent music lay dormant on a reel at Stu's house for all this time. The music represents the feeling towards the end of the 1970's, creating lush layered production skills but keeping the raw energy of a film score.

Six years before the release of his landmark Mother Earth's Plantasia LP, composer and arranger Mort Garson met experimental film director Skip Sherwood, who was interested in an electronic score for his new movie, Didn't You Hear? While not much is known now about the exact nature of their collaboration, we have Garson's magnificent score as a record of those heady, early days after his life-changing discovery of the Moog synthesizer. Notable for being one of the earliest screen appearances by a young Gary Busey, Didn't You Hear? also boasts one of the first-ever all-electronic movie scores. Though the score was first released in 1970, it sounds as adventurous and futuristic today as it must have then. Originally available only in the lobby of the theater at screenings of the movie in Seattle, the soundtrack LP went out of print shortly after the film's release. It has been a sought-after record for collectors of Mort Garson and early electronic music ever since. Sacred Bones is honored to reissue Didn't You Hear? as it was meant to be heard, taken from the original master tapes and given a pristine remaster by engineer Josh Bonati. Morton S. "Mort" Garson was a Canadian-born composer, arranger, songwriter, and pioneer of electronic music. He is best known for his albums in the 1960s and 1970s that were among the first to feature Moog synthesizers. His best-known album is Mother Earth's Plantasia, a 1976 Moog album designed to be played "for plants and the people who love them." Sacred Bones Records has undertaken the project of giving official, licensed reissues to key releases from Mort Garson's catalog, with the intention of bringing these bold masterpieces to a 21st century audience.

Deus Ex is one of the most revered games in history, featured on many "best games of all time" lists. It broke new ground with player choice and depth of story for a first-person experience. And the soundtrack, which establishes a unique, futuristic gritty atmosphere, is highly regarded to this day.

Now, two of the original composers, Alexander Brandon and Michiel van den Bos, have returned to the soundtrack they first wrote 20 years ago. In revisiting some of the game's most iconic themes, they have decided to keep some tracks true to the original, touched up using modern production techniques; other tracks are fully reimagined and will give even dedicated fans something new to listen to. It's a celebration of two decades of Deus Ex and a "thank you" to the fans who have kept their love for the game alive over the years.

The music helps weave the tapestry of the story together, dark ambient moments are punctuated with touching melodies that will pull at your heartstrings with a soundscape that is simultaneously creepy and melancholic in all the good ways.

Franco Micalizzi composed and conducted one of his most iconic OSTs for the crime drama genre with this soundtrack. Within the soundtrack emerges a recurring main theme, using a Moog synthesizer, that is then developed by an energetic woodwind section. It is then reprised in slow and fast versions. There is plenty of instrumental dance music and a romantic ballad with vocals. The leitmotif is alternated with suspenseful phrases written for strings.

To complete the the Orgasmo/Paranoia soundtrack set, Four Flies adds two songs to the cake (both not included in the LP version released today). An alternate take of Lydia MacDonald's “Fate Had Planned So”, more rhythmical and dynamic than the one used for the titles sequence, and the soul hit “Just Tell Me”, sung by Wess, and performed by his Airdales. A Fantastic funk-soul stomper, perfect to dance.

Franco Micalizzi wrote one of his best OSTs for the Poliziesco genre with this one (the main theme is one of Micalizzi’s favorites and he often performs it live in concert with his orchestra BIG Bubbling Band). The OST opens with the strong main score written for woodwinds and percussion, which is then reprised with different arrangements throughout the film. It is also alternated with moments of suspense. The violent urban jungle atmosphere is broken by "Sambamba", a sunny pop piece with a Latin sound written for choir and orchestra. For this LP, the master tapes of the recording session were used.

Following Samurai Shodown 2019, Wayô Records and SNK Corporation once again join forces to deliver an international edition of Metal Slug 3’s original soundtrack, in honor of the game’s 20 anniversary! Originally exclusive to Japan, this album is now available in this double vinyl edition.

With its distinctive “rock orchestra” sound, the music for SNK’s series turned out to be as essential as the games themselves thanks to its uniqueness and incredible energy. Composed by the legendary SNK Sound Team, this soundtrack has a lot in common with the other titles in the series, but stands as the densest and most inspired. Filled with biting humor and explosive action, Metal Slug 3 is often regarded by fans as the best game in the series!

Recently made available on Netflix and one of the flagship films in anime company Studio Ghibli’s stable, 1997’s Princess Mononoke also boasted a magnificent soundtrack and symphonic score by Joe Hisaishi. This soundtrack edition is performed by the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra. Includes the Princess Mononoke Main Theme with vocals by Yoshikazu Mera. First-time on vinyl.

Stelvio Cipriani wrote a rhythmic score with a nostalgic feeling which is then reprised in bossa, suspense, and action music versions. Maestro Cipriani also composed a folk theme to describe the Mafia and Camorra characters who are fighting each other in the film. The LP closes by reprising the folk theme and the main theme. Stelvio Cipriani’s bravura as a piano soloist is also found in this OST. This LP was made possible thanks to the mono masters preserved in the historical archives of the RCA.

William Tyler composed the music for First Cow, the new A24 film directed by Kelly Reichardt, almost entirely on several of his guitars and a dulcimer. In First Cow, Kelly Reichardt once again trains her perceptive and patient eye on the Pacific Northwest, this time evoking an authentically hardscrabble early nineteenth century way of life. A taciturn loner and skilled cook (John Magaro) has traveled west and joined a group of fur trappers in Oregon Territory, though he only finds true connection with a Chinese immigrant (Orion Lee) also seeking his fortune; soon the two collaborate on a successful business, although its longevity is reliant upon the clandestine participation of a nearby wealthy landowner's prized milking cow. Reichardt again shows her distinct talent for depicting the peculiar rhythms of daily living and ability to capture the immense, unsettling quietude of rural America.

The daring movie is a sweeping emotional drama powerfully exploring the unbreakable bond between fathers and sons. It tells the story of a motorcycle stunt rider (Gosling), who considers committing a crime in order to provide for his newborn child, an act that puts him on a collision course with a cop-turnedpolitician (Cooper). Mike Patton, American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist best known as the lead singer of the alternative metal/experimental rock bands Faith No More and Mr. Bungle delivers a sweeping and brooding score. Converging at a cultural terminus that bridges Belgian electronic music, French comic book culture and the cream of the cinéma fantastique film genre, this rescued and previously unreleased multi-discipline art film soundtrack entwines unlikely links between the likes of Daniel Schell's Cos, French vampire film director Jean Rollin, Tintin, dark ambient pioneer Igor Wakhévitch, Heavy Metal magazine, Moebius, Alejandro Jodorowsky, choreographer Maurice Béjart, musique concrète legends François Bayle and Luc Ferrari, and some of the most notorious examples of pre-certificate Video Nasties and Mondo cinema. Needless to say the empty branch on the Finders Keepers family tree reserved for synthesist, sound designer and ethnological instrument enthusiast Alain Pierre is ready to bare some very strange fruit.

The recent rediscovery of this 1974 short film documenting revered cosmic comic artist Philippe Druillet and the creation of one of his finest works has given fans and enthusiasts of counter culture comic design, sci-fi pop art, and French Futurism a rare glimpse and insight into a master at work during his creative halcyon. Directed by Swiss-born Michel Jakar, the film Ô Sidarta, (named after a seminal design created for French/Belgian bandes dessinée monthly Pilote) not only explored the mind-set and applied techniques of the artist, it also witnessed the master painter in his natural habitat, at home amongst gothic decor, while seizing the opportunity to animate some of the artist’s best work via quick-fire edits and cross-fades accompanied by the all-important back drop of Alain Pierre's unique, multi-layered and potentially ground breaking space raga soundtrack.
