Yo-Yo Ma Plays Ennio Morricone is a 2004 album of recordings from Morricone's various film scores by brilliant cellist Yo-Yo Ma and Ennio Morricone. The album was recorded with the Roma Sinfonietta Orchestra and Gilda Buttà on piano. Morricone functioned as orchestrator, conductor and producer. The album stayed 105 weeks on the Billboard Top Classical Albums.

Thomas Fehlmann remains as one of the most endearing and respected artists on Kompakt. He has inspired generations of fans and musicians over the course of his 30+ year career. From his early days as part of the legendary band Palais Schaumburg, and the pioneering Detroit/Berlin act 3mb (With Juan Atkins and Moritz Von Oswald), to his longstanding membership with The Orb, combined with his contributions as a solo artist to esteemed imprints R&S, Plug Research and of course Kompakt, where we have proudly released two full length solo albums: Visions Of Blah (Kompakt CD 20/Kompakt 67) and Honigpumpe (Kompakt CD 59 / Kompakt 157), his musical works have been prolific, not to mention four singles and a full serving of tracks found on our Pop Ambient and Total collections. Now, after 3 years, Fehlmann returns with 'Gute Luft'.

The release comes with a download code. Betbeder, asked Sebastien Tellier to compose the music of his new film, "Marie et les naufragés" (Translated: "Marie and The Castaways"). For this score, Tellier chose a retro-futuristic electronic path in the tradition of Giorgio Moroder's music in keeping with the with free and off-the-beaten path tone of this film starring Eric Cantona. With the help of friend and fellow musician John Kirby, Sebastien has diffused film‘s languid themes with tributes to Marvin Gaye or to Ennio Morricone.

Invada Records are thrilled to announce the vinyl release of Roque Baños chilling score to the US smash hit Don’t Breathe, in conjunction with Lakeshore Records. Baños, who has previously worked with the film’s director Fede Alvarez on the remake of Evil Dead, has crafted a truly unforgettable score combining harrowing atmospheric textures with sudden plunges into faster paced, pounding passages: a contrast executed with a unique and modern perspective.

Baños’ score is reminiscent of works by composers such as Brian Reitzell (Hannibal, 30 Days Of Night) & Gustavo Santaolalla (The Last Of Us), whilst still maintaining his own unique style heard in previous works such as in The Machinist and Evil Dead. Don’t Breathe received the highest box office results in 2016 on its opening weekend, and was rated the biggest film in the US upon its release.

Active since 2009, Rashomon is the solo project of Matt Thompson, also of Cineploit mainstays Zoltan. This is his second release on the label under the Rashomon name, following 2014's LP/DVD extravaganza The Cameraman's Revenge: Film Music Vol. 4 – the final release in the Film Music series to date.
The previous edition to this, 2009's The Finishing Line: Film Music Vol. 2, had focused on re-creating the psychological mind-state of the wilder end of 1970s British public information films. By way of change Ashcan Copy is presented as an album of soundtrack cues from films that were, for one reason or another, never released. The films, hailing from Italy, Japan and the USA (among others) supposedly date from the 1950s to the 1970s, and were (according to the extensive sleeve notes) exactingly sourced from film archives across Europe.
In reality, all the music is self-composed. The eight tracks include elements of noise, folk, psychedelia, prog and noir-jazz within their elaborate constructions, created with a panoply of instrumentation including Mellotron, zither, home-made percussion, Fender Rhodes, harmonium, MiniMoog and more. Delicate and sensuous, heavy and oppressive – the record negotiates these musical contradictions while retaining a single-minded pursuit of strangeness and surprise.
Having finally found its spiritual home on soundtrack specialist label Cineploit, Ashcan Copy can at last be heard by all.

Waxwork Records is proud to announce the new double LP release of MY BLOODY VALENTINE (1981). Praised by director Quentin Tarantino as his favorite slasher movie of all time, MY BLOODY VALENTINE (1981) tells the story of a small mining town and it’s residents that fall victim to a vengeful, homicidal maniac on Valentine’s Day. The film has garnered a cult following and has also sparked a major-studio remake in 2009. By working directly with composer Paul Zaza (Prom Night, Curtains, Porky’s), Waxwork was allowed to work directly from the original master tapes to source the complete, haunting score. This release marks the very first time the score to the 1981 slasher-horror classic has been released in any format.

During the '60s and '70s, three distinguished gentlemen who had built their careers playing French-made exotic jazz (Roger Roger, Nino Nardini and orchestra leader Eddie Warner) met each evening in the Ganaro recording studio. They mainly experimented -or simply played- with keyboards that looked like prototypes of spaceships. Flying high on whimsical and joyful inspiration, the improbable trio used their strange instruments to sketch out the beginnings of something that, at that time, resembled the future of music. This collection presents some of the highlights that resulted from their light-hearted, electronic pop sessions.

Morricone Youth was formed in 1999 with a mission statement to compose, re-interpret, perform and/or record "music written for the moving image" (film/tv soundtracks, library music, etc.) in all incarnations from playing shows dedicated to specific composers/film genres in rock clubs/performance spaces with projections to live scoring films in theaters. Over the years, they've released CDs, toured and had residencies at the Knitting Factory, Cbgb, Tonic and, most recently, Nitehawk Cinema in Williamsburg. Brooklyn Academy of Music commissioned the group to write an original score to Hitchcock's The Lodger performed Halloween 2013. Philadelphia Museum of Art commissioned a piece for its Marcel Duchamp exhibit in 2012. Band members have scored for documentaries, short films, etc. and include current/past members of bands Creedle, Crash Worship, Pain Teens, Pronto (Wilco side band), aMINIATURE and THE Rugburns. Morricone Youth's original six song (25-min.) score for George A. Romero's 1968 Zombie classic in an edition of 500 copies with download. Mastered at 45 rpm.

Under licence from Lakeshore Records, Invada Records are thrilled to announce that the Mac Quayle soundtrack to Mr Robot Season 1. Screened on the USA Network, Mr. Robot is regarded as one of the best and most innovative shows of 2015, and recently stormed the Golden Globe Awards winning “Best Television Series”, along with a win for Christian Slater as “Best Supporting Actor”, and a nomination for Rami Malek as “Best Actor”.

Quayle’s score draws to mind works by great composers such as Cliff Martinez, Cabaret Voltaire and Vangelis, but is ultimately its own dark unnerving beast, at times strange dreamy and atmospheric, whilst being almost unbearably claustrophobic at others.
Much like the show itself, the soundtrack is destined to be a classic.

On vinyl, here's the previously unissued score to a mid-'60s Italian spy movie parody. The brilliant, but somewhat overlooked soundtrack master Lallo Gori created an impressive scat-jazz and beat masterpiece featuring the stunning vocal group I Cantori Moderni Di Alessandroni and Gino Marinacci on flute. The sound is taken from the original tapes. Limited to 500 copies on 180-gram vinyl.

The 'Pipeline' O.S.T. is the result of a collaboration between L'Ironie Du Son, Guillaume Peitrequin and Fabio Poujouly. It's an experimental soundtrack featuring material fitting in between ethnic and organic sounds, and electronic atmospheres giving birth to a splendid world of textures, ambiences and noises that are predominant in the movie. Limited to 400 copies in silkscreen printed cover with insert.

Memoirs Of A Geisha (2005) is the award winning drama film adaptation of the novel of the same name. The original score and songs were composed and conducted by John Williams. The album won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score, BAFTA Award for Best Film Music and the Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media. It was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Score.

How To Train Your Dragon 2 was composed by John Powell, who has created the archetype for modern animation scoring. This soundtrack has never had a standard vinyl release, much less this deluxe edition which will be presented across two LP’s in a gatefold jacket and pressed on red mult-color splatter vinyl, in keeping with the theme of the green multi-color splatter on the How To Train Your Dragon 1 LP release, which was also produced exclusively for RSD in 2021. As with the first soundtrack, the theme song of the second film is done by Jonsi from the Icelandic band, Sigur Ros, and is unavailable anywhere else.

Russian occultists Old Komm collaborate with the south Californian dons of austere electronics German Army, bringing to life the made up soundtrack to a film that never was. 'Disquiet' tells the story of a child born to a desolate, post-apocalyptic world, war torn and fractured by greed. As far as the music is concerned, organ tones and broken exoteric bumps coexist with dark ambient themes and cavernous beats.

According to Morricone’s 60th professional anniversary as a composer, „Morricone 60“ collects his definite greatest and most famous pieces of work to date.

There was so much happening visually in the Wachowski Brothers' instant sci-fi classic The Matrix that it was easy to overlook Don Davis' score. It is true that Davis' music is the most conventional element of the film, often following familiar action film patterns, but that's not to say that it's predictable. There are long quiet stretches that are quite eerie, even without the film to support the music, and he employs dissonance and quick, powerful staccatos quite effectively. And when he turns to grand, sweeping themes, such as on the closing "Anything Is Possible," it's hard not get caught up in the momentum of the piece. It still works better with the film, but The Matrix is the rare score that is nearly as effective as a stand-alone work as it is in the film. - allmusic.com

1983's 'Amore Tossico' is a legendary cult film, directed by Claudio Caligari. Arranger and pianist Detto Mariano wrote the entire score on his Fairlight series IIx, a now revered synthesizer that had just entered the market that year. The sound is therefore scary and up to date, a true companion to the vivid and rough imagery of the movie. Featuring sound from the original tapes, the LP is pressed on deluxe 140-gram vinyl and packaged in a gatefold sleeve. You also get a bonus CD of the entire album plus a reproduction of the original film poster.

Fonit's "B 85", part of the legendary Serie Usignolo, which bears the signatures of the mysterious Coscia (perhaps a moniker of accordionist Gianni?) and Formini, is another cult library music release: an orchestral pop record whose tracks are curiously recommended to accompany 'viewings of vast parks, footage of agriculture, ads, moving crowds and congested traffic jams, American working-class districts' with hilarious titles such as "Dayda", "Schizzo", "Palmas", "Murlak" (which casts an incredible fuzz guitar), "Bronx" and "Ciresa Facaud". In two words: a must!

“The Last Wave” (also known as “Black Rain” in the US) was the final chapter in a trilogy of films scripted and directed by the leading auteur of the Australian New Wave, Peter Weir. “The Last Wave” was a landmark in existential horror. Sitting alongside other Australian eco-terror films (e.g. “Long Weekend”) the film featured a haunting electronic soundtrack that is as mysterious and beguiling as the spiritual themes of the film itself. With no LP issued after the films premiere in 1977, and together with the mystery surrounding the true identity of its enigmatic composer ‘Charles Wain’, the score is a largely unheard recording of pioneering experimental film electronics, easily compared to the music that contemporaries Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream were composing for Australian films during the same period or the electronic soundtracks of John Carpenter. Tense atonal electronics, synthesizer drones and manipulated Didgeridoo all perfectly capture the film’s ominous atmosphere, punctuating the slow hypnotic pace of this brooding supernatural thriller. All original 12 tracks have been sourced from the original stereo master tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl. The deluxe packaging includes archival film stills and original press material.

The vinyl version contains twelve tracks! "Minecraft - Volume Alpha" is the work of German composer and musician Daniel Rosenfeld. Under his stage name C418, Rosenfeld created the sweeping soundtrack and vibrant sound design that brought the voxel-based universe of "Minecraft" to life. Fans and critics alike were blown away by his beatless, balanced electro pieces across the board. Popular gaming site Kotaku listed the soundtrack among its "Best Game Music" of 2011, calling the music "impressively soothing," while The Guardian compared Rosenfeld's fragile pieces of piano and minimalist ambient to legendary artists Erik Satie and Brian ENO. In an interview, Polygon distilled "Volume Alpha" down to its essence: "The soundtrack is not tied to the retro aesthetic of Minecraft graphics. The soundtrack overrides them. Available for the first time ever on vinyl is the 1974 soundtrack byAlessandro Alessandroni for the Giuliano Carmineo (as Anthony Ascott) directed Di Tresette ce n'è uno, tutti gli altri son nessuno, known in English as The Crazy Bunch. The sequel to Lo chiamavano Tresette... giocava sempre col morto (Man Called Invincible), the film is a goofy, slapstick comedy spaghetti-western, but the Maestro’s soundtrack is anything but goofy. Haunting, sparse, and riveting, the soundtrack is easily the best thing about this film and it’s presented here by Overdrive in a special color vinyl edition.
