The soundtrack by Utollo Teshikai, which has been extremely difficult to find, is being reissued on CD and analog for the first time! ===== The composer, producer, and synthesizer player Utollo Teshikai is known not only as a composer and arranger who has provided music for many singers and musicians, including Shigeru Matsuzaki and Hiromi Ota, but also for his work on obscure and outstanding image albums, such as the soundtrack disc for picture book author Shigeru Tamura's works. The album features a total of 19 gems, including dark ambient/new age compositions reminiscent of Italian cult noise artist Maurizio Bianchi, as well as fantastical compositions with ethnic moods. Split, a terrifying, breakneck thriller, centers on Kevin Wendell Crumb (James McAvoy), a man with dissociative identity disorder whose more sinister personalities (collectively known as The Horde) kidnap three teenage girls. The plan is to feed the “impure” girls to another of Crumb’s personalities, a superhuman creature known as The Beast. The final girl, Casey Cooke (Anya Taylor-Joy) is spared because The Beast sees scars covering Casey’s body, markers of child-hood abuse. Because Casey, unlike the other girls, has suffered, her heart is pure. “Rejoice,” The Beast tells her. “The broken are the more evolved.”

The Split score, by West Dylan Thordson, became the first collaboration between Shyamalan and the composer. Sonic, sinister and foreboding, the music was unlike any recorded for a film before. “I started by recording several loose takes of some simple harmonic bowing ideas with a cellist and violinist,” Thordson said. “The intention was to heavily modulate the captured sounds. While playing around with an idea in the past, I’d accidentally captured something like this and wanted to explore it more. The resulting sound was extremely chaotic, unpredictable, and scary. It felt haunted and seemed to capture the otherworldly, tortured, animalistic quality I was looking for. I wanted it to feel like “Jaws,” foreshadowing the existence of this malevolent being.”

Digitmovies is releasing the LP and CD of the OST from the film “Blackie the Pirate” (original title: “Il Corsaro Nero”). Blackie the Pirate is a fictional character created by the Italian writer Emilio Salgari. The character has appeared in various films throughout the years. The composer Gino Peguri (author of soundtracks for movies like “Bloody Pit of Horror," "Seven Magnificent Pistols", "A Woman on Fire", "Psychopath," "Code Name, Red Roses") wrote an orchestral score for "Blackie the Pirate" which was released in 1971 on a rare LP from RCA (SP 8035) and a rare single Cormorano (ZC 50180). For this CD re-release we were able to find the stereo master tapes from the original album and the complete master tapes from the original recording sessions which include both stereo and mono mixes. In addition to the 12 stereo tracks on the album, we have added nine alternate tracks in stereo and five alternate tracks in mono. This OST is dominated by the fun pop-sounding song in the opening credits called "Orza qui poggia lì," performed by Paolo Ferrara and accompanied by the chorus of Nora Orlandi. For the LP version we brought back the 1971 LP with the addition of the English version of "Orza qui poggia lì” as well as the film version of the track "In the Caribbean" and two alternative versions on side B. Available on CD or LP+CD limited editions of 300 copies.

The Visitor sees the legendary filmmaker and photographer continue his decades-long creative journey with a transgressive reimagining of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s 1968 classic Teorema, set against the dystopian backdrop of a paranoid, xenophobic post-Brexit London. Washed ashore from the sea in a suitcase, a mysterious refugee disrupts the lives of a privileged white family, leading them through a series of explicit and transformative encounters. The film, which features performance artist Bishop Black amid a series of explicit, hardcore sex scenes, premiered at the 2024 Berlinale Film Festival.

With reverence and reference to Ennio Morricone’s iconic score for Teorema, Hannah Holland has crafted a soundtrack that both honors the original and brings a contemporary twist. The album features collaborations with a stellar lineup of artists from both the queer and electronic music underground, including Ghost Culture, Jonjo Jury, Josh Caffé, Joy Joseph, ROY INC, and Ziah Ziah.

The series score by Flanagan’s long-time collaborators, The
Newton Brothers, features sweeping and dark orchestral cues
expertly crafted to accompany the gothic, Poe inspired storytelling. While melancholic and brooding, the music is also beautiful and playful at times. Massive orchestral swells are met with
bombastic percussion which then pull the listener into haunting and fright inducing territory.

Composer West Dylan Thordson reunited with Shyamalan for the Glass score. “I wanted to find sounds that felt brittle and sharp,” Thordson said. “Violin and metal percussion became clear voices for me to build from. Mainly, I wanted the combination of melody and dissonance in Glass to play to Elijah’s thrilling and playful energy. The longer gnarled sounds combined with the pristine orchestral elements seemed to work well to represent the melding of light and dark. To me, the score for Glass is largely about discovery and acceptance.”

West Dylan Thordson is an American film music composer. He is best known for his original scores to Joy, The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst, Foxcatcher, and M. Night Shyamalan's Split and Glass.

Despite its influences, I feel like it ended up being rather unique. It’s quite hard to pin a genre onto these tracks and the collection itself varies greatly in vibes as well as styles.”

Baylis is also enthusiastic about the physical release of the “Cassette Beasts” soundtrack on beautiful purple and mint green coloured double vinyl: “The LP contains the best of each aspect of the game’s soundtrack, thoughtfully put together to offer something that will look great in your collection, and sound great under the needle.” And while the entire game is revolving around cassettes, Black Screen Records are sure taking care of this with a limited tape edition. Surprisingly, this classic music has never before been collected on vinyl. We at iam8bit are teaming up with our friends at WaterTower Music to correct that.

Introducing…Steven Spielberg Presents Animaniacs (Soundtrack from the Original Series) Vinyl Soundtrack! Meme-spawning classics like “Yakko’s World” and silly send-ups like “I Am the Very Model of A Cartoon Individual” are all represented here, performed by The Animaniacs themselves and presented in their full glory on classic black vinyl.

But what would Animaniacs be without golden-age-inspired cel-tacular cartoon art? We tapped an absolutely prolific cabal of iconic Animaniacs alumni, new and old: Original character artist Dan Haskett, who has touched classics like Scooby-Doo!, and Looney Tunes, storyboard artist Tony Craig, whose expansive credits include Ben 10 and House of Mouse, and Roman Laney, who helped build El Tigre, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, and so much more. Chris' Soundtrack Corner proudly presents the first fully licensed and official release of the sought after soundtrack of Keoma, now on vinyl for the first time! Keoma features a unique and pervasive score by Guido & Maurizio De Angelis. These prolific musical brothers are well known for their predominantly song-based approach to scoring Italian films. With their background in popular music, it's no surprise that their film scoring approach is primarily based on tuneful, pop-rock vocal and instrumental music. Enzo G. Castellari's 1976 Western Keoma (aka THE Violent Breed, Keoma THE Avenger, Django Rides Again, Django'S Great Return and the like) is largely considered the best film they did together. Coming very late in the Italian or "Spaghetti" Western phase, the genre couldn't have had a better closing statement than Keoma, which offers a renewed approach with a unique audiovisual resonance that was every bit as striking as some of the first Italian Westerns that made international audiences stand up and pay attention. Castellari instructed the De Angelis's to write a song-score with songs in the style of Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan. The half dozen or so "chapters" of the "Keoma" song serve as a Greek Chorus lending words to the gunfighter's silent actions throughout the film, or at least letting loose the raging voices of cynicism roiling about in his head. The mix of songs and instrumental score is striking and effectual in giving the drama a unique vocal texture that accentuates what we're seeing, highlighting the pain, revulsion, and disillusionment heard within those gruff and pained voices as they embody the unspoken angst of Keoma as he faces down his final adversary in the dark, sullied town of his birth. The album also includes the De Angelis Brothers' score to Castellari's 1979 film IL Cacciatore DI Squali (The Hunter of Sharks; aka THE Shark Hunter, Guardians OF THE Deep, and even Django AND THE SharkS). This film is a far more trivial potboiler than Keoma, but it's an entertaining enough picture for the undemanding viewer. The De Angelis Brothers provided a tuneful score for this post-JAWS adventure drama about treasure hunters daring shark-infested waters to dive for sunken wealth. The score conveys a dreamy vibe that fits the warm landscapes and clear, sun-dappled waters, and the dangerous underwater ambiences involving competing treasure hunters and sharks alike. Chris' Soundtrack Corner presents the entire instrumental score from Keoma, as well as the essential elements of the score for IL Cacciatore DI Squali, both specially mastered for vinyl, on this premiere vinyl edition, pressed on 180g black vinyl with a gatefold tip-on cover. The album is presented in a limited edition of 500 units.

Quartet Records, in collaboration with Carosello Edizioni Musicali, presents a definitive, expanded 2-lp edition of Ennio Morricone’s celebrated score for 1971 Italian thriller Giornata Nera PER L’ariete (aka THE Fifth Cord), directed by Luigi Bazzoni and starring Franco Nero, Silvia Monti, Ira Von Fürstenbergm Edmund Purdon, Pamela Tiffin and Agostina Belli. Morricone’s thriller scores remain some of his most distinctive and original works. As demonstrated in his scores for Dario Argento’s efforts in the genre, Morricone’s uncanny ability to combine lyricism, unbridled avant-garde experimentation and stylish elegance was his most significant contribution to the category. Giornata Nera PER L’ariete shows Morricone once again embracing the sophisticated avant-garde sound while beginning his score with a haunting tune performed by Edda Dell’Orso heard over the film’s main titles. The lullaby-like theme has a timeless quality, providing a disturbing and disarming melody for the film. As with many of his giallos, Ennio Morricone’s score for Giornata Nera PER L’ariete was never released on an album (only the main theme was included in the Morricone compilation album Colori in 1971). In 1996, under the composer’s supervision, the Point label released the first official album of the score on CD. The first vinyl edition was released by Dagored on a generous LP in 2001. It was subsequently released by Spettro in 2016, this time using the same program that Morricone had produced in 1996. For this new deluxe, 2-lp Quartet release, the music has been fully restored, remixed and edited by Daniel Winkler from the original session tapes, presenting the first vinyl edition of the complete score as Morricone conceived it for the film. It has been specially mastered for vinyl by Chris Malone, and is presented in a luxurious gatefold jacket printed in transparent bloody red and giallo splatter.

THE EXORCIST: BELIEVER is a 2023 supernatural horror movie directed by David Gordon Green. The film is the sixth installment in The Exorcist franchise and serves as a sequel to The Exorcist (1973).

Since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding (Tony winner and Oscar® nominee Leslie Odom, Jr.; One Night in Miami, Hamilton) has raised their daughter, Angela (Lidya Jewett, Good Girls) on his own.

ABOUT DAVID WINGO

David Wingo got his start composing music for films on David Gordon Green's debut feature, George Washington, and since that time has maintained a consistent working relationship with Green, scoring the majority of his films. In 2010 he scored Jeff Nichols' Take Shelter, and has since scored all of Nichols' films, including the forthcoming Bikeriders starring Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, and Jodie Comer. Wingo has transitioned into television over the last several years, providing the score for FX’s Mayans MC, Showtime's Kidding and HBO's Emmy Award-winning Barry, for which he received an Emmy Nomination in 2019 for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series.

ABOUT AMMAN ABBASI

Amman Abbasi is a Pakistani-American writer-director, editor, and composer from Little Rock, Arkansas. Filmmaker Magazine listed him among the 25 New Faces of Independent Film in 2016. His film Dayveon premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, was an Official Selection of the 2017 Berlin Film Festival, and went on to get two Film Independent Spirit Award nominations in 2018, including in the coveted Someone to Watch category. As a music composer, Abbasi’s compositions have appeared in several commercials, films, and documentaries, and most recently he was a music consultant for Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills (2020). In 2008, he and his brother’s debut album, Something Like Nostalgia, topped the charts in Japan.
