Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the 2016 Venice International Film Festival, Nocturnal Animals, Tom Ford’s haunting romantic thriller has been hailed as “a tour de force” (The Independent). Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal star as a divorced couple discovering dark truths about each other and themselves. Nocturnal Animals marks the second film from writer/director Ford, and his second collaboration with composer Korzeniowski. Their first collaboration, A Single Man, earned Korzeniowski his first Golden Globe nomination for Best Score. The score was a breakout for the composer, earning him the prestigious Discovery Award at the 2010 Ghent Film Festival’s World Soundtrack Awards. Korzeniowski has described his latest score to Nocturnal Animals as “embracing two extremes, but switching their traditional genre characterization. The crime plot is scored as an intimate, personal story, while the psychological drama is treated as a thriller. The cold and detached intertwines with poignant and excruciating, the simple and intimate becomes grand and bold." The composer’s passionate and evocative compositions have been met with critical and industry acclaim. His score to Ford’s latest film has The Hollywood Reporter stating “the tempestuous strings of Abel Korzeniowski’s lush score provide an additional ballsy flourish, explicitly nodding to Hitchcock and Sirk.”

The 'Pipeline' O.S.T. is the result of a collaboration between L'Ironie Du Son, Guillaume Peitrequin and Fabio Poujouly. It's an experimental soundtrack featuring material fitting in between ethnic and organic sounds, and electronic atmospheres giving birth to a splendid world of textures, ambiences and noises that are predominant in the movie. A Winged Victory For The Sullen, the otherworldly collaboration between Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie and Dustin O Halloran, commence the New Year with their third full-length titled Iris available worldwide via Erased Tapes on January 13th 2017. Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie and Dustin O'Halloran first met the director Jalil Lespert after he had discovered A Winged Victory For The Sullen on a music search online. After listening to their music, he immediately knew: "it was the sound of my new film". With an excellent cast of France s finest actors Romain Duris, Charlotte Le Bon, and the director himself, plus a script filled with tension, sexuality and darkness, they knew there was a lot of musical territory to mine. It was agreed that they wanted to explore more analogue electronique experiments as well as working with a large string ensemble, to create something that felt very modern and still cinematic. The recording sessions began with their long time sound collaborator Francesco Donadello in the form of some modular synth sessions in Berlin. Dustin and Adam began working from the script in their own studios, and after filming commenced they continued to create music that could be used for first edits of the film each day getting new scenes that triggered ideas that would become the base of the film score. Over the course of the next few months the two slowly crafted the music with weekly discussion from their studio to the editing room. The final sessions to what is now the score of Iris were recorded with a 40-piece string orchestra at Magyar Radio in Budapest.

There was so much happening visually in the Wachowski Brothers' instant sci-fi classic The Matrix that it was easy to overlook Don Davis' score. It is true that Davis' music is the most conventional element of the film, often following familiar action film patterns, but that's not to say that it's predictable. There are long quiet stretches that are quite eerie, even without the film to support the music, and he employs dissonance and quick, powerful staccatos quite effectively. And when he turns to grand, sweeping themes, such as on the closing "Anything Is Possible," it's hard not get caught up in the momentum of the piece. It still works better with the film, but The Matrix is the rare score that is nearly as effective as a stand-alone work as it is in the film. - allmusic.com

Available for the first time ever on vinyl is the 1974 soundtrack byAlessandro Alessandroni for the Giuliano Carmineo (as Anthony Ascott) directed Di Tresette ce n'è uno, tutti gli altri son nessuno, known in English as The Crazy Bunch. The sequel to Lo chiamavano Tresette... giocava sempre col morto (Man Called Invincible), the film is a goofy, slapstick comedy spaghetti-western, but the Maestro’s soundtrack is anything but goofy. Haunting, sparse, and riveting, the soundtrack is easily the best thing about this film and it’s presented here by Overdrive in a special color vinyl edition.

Fonit's "B 85", part of the legendary Serie Usignolo, which bears the signatures of the mysterious Coscia (perhaps a moniker of accordionist Gianni?) and Formini, is another cult library music release: an orchestral pop record whose tracks are curiously recommended to accompany 'viewings of vast parks, footage of agriculture, ads, moving crowds and congested traffic jams, American working-class districts' with hilarious titles such as "Dayda", "Schizzo", "Palmas", "Murlak" (which casts an incredible fuzz guitar), "Bronx" and "Ciresa Facaud". Invada Records are thrilled to announce the vinyl release of Roque Baños chilling score to the US smash hit Don’t Breathe, in conjunction with Lakeshore Records. Baños, who has previously worked with the film’s director Fede Alvarez on the remake of Evil Dead, has crafted a truly unforgettable score combining harrowing atmospheric textures with sudden plunges into faster paced, pounding passages: a contrast executed with a unique and modern perspective.

Baños’ score is reminiscent of works by composers such as Brian Reitzell (Hannibal, 30 Days Of Night) & Gustavo Santaolalla (The Last Of Us), whilst still maintaining his own unique style heard in previous works such as in The Machinist and Evil Dead. Don’t Breathe received the highest box office results in 2016 on its opening weekend, and was rated the biggest film in the US upon its release.

“The Last Wave” (also known as “Black Rain” in the US) was the final chapter in a trilogy of films scripted and directed by the leading auteur of the Australian New Wave, Peter Weir. “The Last Wave” was a landmark in existential horror. Sitting alongside other Australian eco-terror films (e.g. “Long Weekend”) the film featured a haunting electronic soundtrack that is as mysterious and beguiling as the spiritual themes of the film itself. With no LP issued after the films premiere in 1977, and together with the mystery surrounding the true identity of its enigmatic composer ‘Charles Wain’, the score is a largely unheard recording of pioneering experimental film electronics, easily compared to the music that contemporaries Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream were composing for Australian films during the same period or the electronic soundtracks of John Carpenter. Tense atonal electronics, synthesizer drones and manipulated Didgeridoo all perfectly capture the film’s ominous atmosphere, punctuating the slow hypnotic pace of this brooding supernatural thriller. All original 12 tracks have been sourced from the original stereo master tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl. The deluxe packaging includes archival film stills and original press material.

According to Morricone’s 60th professional anniversary as a composer, „Morricone 60“ collects his definite greatest and most famous pieces of work to date.

Russian occultists Old Komm collaborate with the south Californian dons of austere electronics German Army, bringing to life the made up soundtrack to a film that never was. 'Disquiet' tells the story of a child born to a desolate, post-apocalyptic world, war torn and fractured by greed. Death Waltz Recording Company brings us what is likely to be a future classic in the form of Ben Lovett’s sophisticated electronic score to science fiction thriller "Synchronicity". Starring mumblecore specialist AJ Bowen (YOU’RE NEXT) and cult hero Michael Ironside (SCANNERS), "Synchronicity" is about an inventor that creates a time machine and uses it to go back in time to stop the potential theft of the technology. Lovett’s music recalls all the obvious candidates for these types of scores, John Carpenter, Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, but while he stands on the shoulders of giants he still manages to create something that exists on its own terms.

"Synchronicity" is all about immersion; the score wraps you up in it and massages your senses before taking you on a beautiful but dangerous journey. It feels like a dream, with Lovett’s evocative soundscapes modulating and pulsating to augment the pervasive synth melodies. Much of it is ominous, foreboding – it flows between serenity and paranoia, but it always coheres into the kind of experience that is almost impossible to replicate. The future, the past, the present: they’re all here, and "Synchronicity" feels both futuristic and timeless. It is what it is, a beautiful contradiction.

Waxwork Records is proud to announce the new double LP release of MY BLOODY VALENTINE (1981). Praised by director Quentin Tarantino as his favorite slasher movie of all time, MY BLOODY VALENTINE (1981) tells the story of a small mining town and it’s residents that fall victim to a vengeful, homicidal maniac on Valentine’s Day. The film has garnered a cult following and has also sparked a major-studio remake in 2009. By working directly with composer Paul Zaza (Prom Night, Curtains, Porky’s), Waxwork was allowed to work directly from the original master tapes to source the complete, haunting score. This release marks the very first time the score to the 1981 slasher-horror classic has been released in any format.

1983's 'Amore Tossico' is a legendary cult film, directed by Claudio Caligari. Arranger and pianist Detto Mariano wrote the entire score on his Fairlight series IIx, a now revered synthesizer that had just entered the market that year. The sound is therefore scary and up to date, a true companion to the vivid and rough imagery of the movie. Featuring sound from the original tapes, the LP is pressed on deluxe 140-gram vinyl and packaged in a gatefold sleeve. You also get a bonus CD of the entire album plus a reproduction of the original film poster.
