Urpa i musell feels very fortunate to announce its third release (UiM 003) after a long period of fertile collaboration with the film production company Andergraun Films: the 4-LP Box Set Les músiques per a Albert Serra by the inscrutable band Molforts.
The box set puts together the main musical works that the band created between 2006 and 2018 for the Catalan film director Albert Serra. It includes the soundtracks for three films —Honor de cavalleria / Honour of the Knights (2006), Història de la meva mort / Story of My Death (2013) and La mort de Louis XIV / Last Days of Louis XIV (2016)—, two art pieces —Cubalibre (2012, Documenta, Kassel) and Singularity (2015, Biennale di Venezia)— and the recent play Liberté (2018, Volksbühne, Berlin).
Albert Serra is considered one of the most singular, radical and also controversial filmmakers working today. Tirelessly seeking never-before-seen images, his films and other works are characterised by an improbable balance between wild freedom and exquisite sophistication.
The band Molforts are the creators of all the music in his works and integral members of the creative milieu around Andergraun Films. Their work links intimately with the pieces it is made for. The relationship between music and image is deeply eloquent, not obvious, resulting in unique, suggestive soundscapes.

Boasting an impressive sound design to draw us into the cold, snowy world and fabulous sound effects to make us feel every squelch of mud, every crack of bone and every slice of the hero’s sword, the soundtrack sandwiches the elements together whilst providing the emotional pull of the narrative. Thankfully, composer Nick Soole has not only created a musical score that allows us to follow the Head Hunter’s mental state - from grief, pain and faithlessness to rage, horror and fear - but also stands on its own as a work of art when listened separately to the movie. William Tyler composed the music for First Cow, the new A24 film directed by Kelly Reichardt, almost entirely on several of his guitars and a dulcimer. In First Cow, Kelly Reichardt once again trains her perceptive and patient eye on the Pacific Northwest, this time evoking an authentically hardscrabble early nineteenth century way of life. A taciturn loner and skilled cook (John Magaro) has traveled west and joined a group of fur trappers in Oregon Territory, though he only finds true connection with a Chinese immigrant (Orion Lee) also seeking his fortune; soon the two collaborate on a successful business, although its longevity is reliant upon the clandestine participation of a nearby wealthy landowner's prized milking cow. Reichardt again shows her distinct talent for depicting the peculiar rhythms of daily living and ability to capture the immense, unsettling quietude of rural America.

L’ultimo squalo (The Great White) is a 1981 movie directed by Enzo G. Castellari, an Italian reply to the horror genre dedicated to shark movies, a trend that started a few years before with Spielberg’s Jaws. In our movie, we have an enormous white shark disrupting the summer of a coastal city in Georgia, in a crescendo of tension and horror that will end in a terrible 1-on-1 between the monster and Peter Benton (James Franciscus), protagonist of the movie and unwitting shark hunter. The music was composed by the De Angelis bros., Guido & Maurizio, obsessive and thrilling in the moments in which the shark appears, dramatic and melodic when the story becomes more emotional. The wonderful score is also connoted by music by the two composers sung by the vocalist Ywonne Wilkins, plus a cue taken from the OST “Uno sceriffo extraterrestre poco extra molto terrestre” that provides great variety to the listening experience.Aside from being released here for the first time in any format, the score of L’ultimo Squalo marks the beginning of a tighter collaboration between Beat Records and Cabum. The two historical labels will give life to a series of releases dedicated to wonderful music produced through the iconic De Angelis bros’ label, a series that will offer a righteous tribute to these wonderful scores, much loved and long-awaited, popular staples of the two composer’s live concerts. The LP is released on black, 180-gram vinyl, with an illustrated internal sleeve, mastering by Enrico De Gemini, liner notes and graphic layout by Daniele De Gemini.

Digitmovies is releasing the LP and CD of the OST from the film “Blackie the Pirate” (original title: “Il Corsaro Nero”). Blackie the Pirate is a fictional character created by the Italian writer Emilio Salgari. The character has appeared in various films throughout the years. The composer Gino Peguri (author of soundtracks for movies like “Bloody Pit of Horror," "Seven Magnificent Pistols", "A Woman on Fire", "Psychopath," "Code Name, Red Roses") wrote an orchestral score for "Blackie the Pirate" which was released in 1971 on a rare LP from RCA (SP 8035) and a rare single Cormorano (ZC 50180). For this CD re-release we were able to find the stereo master tapes from the original album and the complete master tapes from the original recording sessions which include both stereo and mono mixes. In addition to the 12 stereo tracks on the album, we have added nine alternate tracks in stereo and five alternate tracks in mono. This OST is dominated by the fun pop-sounding song in the opening credits called "Orza qui poggia lì," performed by Paolo Ferrara and accompanied by the chorus of Nora Orlandi. For the LP version we brought back the 1971 LP with the addition of the English version of "Orza qui poggia lì” as well as the film version of the track "In the Caribbean" and two alternative versions on side B. Available on CD or LP+CD limited editions of 300 copies.

Stelvio Cipriani wrote a rhythmic score with a nostalgic feeling which is then reprised in bossa, suspense, and action music versions. Maestro Cipriani also composed a folk theme to describe the Mafia and Camorra characters who are fighting each other in the film. The LP closes by reprising the folk theme and the main theme. Stelvio Cipriani’s bravura as a piano soloist is also found in this OST. This LP was made possible thanks to the mono masters preserved in the historical archives of the RCA.

Russian occultists Old Komm collaborate with the south Californian dons of austere electronics German Army, bringing to life the made up soundtrack to a film that never was. 'Disquiet' tells the story of a child born to a desolate, post-apocalyptic world, war torn and fractured by greed. As far as the music is concerned, organ tones and broken exoteric bumps coexist with dark ambient themes and cavernous beats.

We’re stoked to announce the pre-order of ‘I Cannibali’ (aka ‘The Cannibals’ / ‘The Year Of The Cannibals’), score to the dystopic 1970’s masterpiece by Liliana Cavani, entirely composed and orchestrated by no less than Maestro Ennio Morricone and conducted by Bruno Nicolai. The opus features poignant vocal apprerances of Don Powell and Audrey Nohra Stainton as well as the glorious choir I Cantori Moderni di Alessandroni, also including alternate takes and previously unreleased tracks, perfectly mastered for vinyl by Carlo Altobelli at Toxic Basement Studio.
‘I Cannibali’ will be released for the first time on wax by Spikerot Records, pressed on double 180g vinyl and housed in an elegant gatefold jacket with captivating artwork from Basthard Design.

Six years before the release of his landmark Mother Earth's Plantasia LP, composer and arranger Mort Garson met experimental film director Skip Sherwood, who was interested in an electronic score for his new movie, Didn't You Hear? While not much is known now about the exact nature of their collaboration, we have Garson's magnificent score as a record of those heady, early days after his life-changing discovery of the Moog synthesizer. Notable for being one of the earliest screen appearances by a young Gary Busey, Didn't You Hear? also boasts one of the first-ever all-electronic movie scores. Though the score was first released in 1970, it sounds as adventurous and futuristic today as it must have then. Originally available only in the lobby of the theater at screenings of the movie in Seattle, the soundtrack LP went out of print shortly after the film's release. It has been a sought-after record for collectors of Mort Garson and early electronic music ever since. Sacred Bones is honored to reissue Didn't You Hear? as it was meant to be heard, taken from the original master tapes and given a pristine remaster by engineer Josh Bonati. Morton S. "Mort" Garson was a Canadian-born composer, arranger, songwriter, and pioneer of electronic music. He is best known for his albums in the 1960s and 1970s that were among the first to feature Moog synthesizers. His best-known album is Mother Earth's Plantasia, a 1976 Moog album designed to be played "for plants and the people who love them." Sacred Bones Records has undertaken the project of giving official, licensed reissues to key releases from Mort Garson's catalog, with the intention of bringing these bold masterpieces to a 21st century audience.

Almost 40 years after its theatrical debut, Cabum and Beat Records release for the first time ever the complete score for the movie ALIEN 2 SULLA TERRA (1980, Ciro Ippolito), one of the most obscure films in the Italian horror/sci-fi realm, an apocryphal sequel to the iconic ALIEN by Ridley Scott, released just a few months prior.
One of the most sought-after soundtracks by Guido & Maurizio De Angelis fans, it is a prominent sample of the experimental style of the two composers that would feature prominently throughout the ‘80s. Their kaleidoscopic score begins with a country flavor and evolves with an astonishing electronic timber, sometimes morbid and obsessive. This release features nearly 80 minutes of music, complete with two cues from UNO SCERIFFO EXTRATERRESTRE, POCO EXTRA MOLTO TERRESTRE that are used in the first part of the movie to build tension in a particular scene. This LP (black – 180gr) was mastered by Enrico De Gemini thanks to the discovery of first-generation masters in Cabum’s archives, printed inner sleeve with liner notes and graphic layout by Daniele De Gemini and English edit by Esteban Medaglia. Available for the first time ever on vinyl is the 1974 soundtrack byAlessandro Alessandroni for the Giuliano Carmineo (as Anthony Ascott) directed Di Tresette ce n'è uno, tutti gli altri son nessuno, known in English as The Crazy Bunch. The sequel to Lo chiamavano Tresette... giocava sempre col morto (Man Called Invincible), the film is a goofy, slapstick comedy spaghetti-western, but the Maestro’s soundtrack is anything but goofy. Haunting, sparse, and riveting, the soundtrack is easily the best thing about this film and it’s presented here by Overdrive in a special color vinyl edition.

In 1982 the diaspora from Steven Spielberg’s small fictional mid-American neighbourhood that played host to everyones favourite torch fingered, three toed, Skittle scoffing space goblin touched virtually every family home in every major city resulting in one of the biggest cinematic merchandise phenomenas of the 21st century, resulting in an unexpected high-demand / short-supply play-off in which bootleggers, copyists and counterfeiters rose to the challenge like never before. At the precise moment that international audiences saw that cute little baldy poke his retractable neck around the corner and started stealing beer from the fridge, demanding long distance phone calls while circuit bending kids toys and frankly not looking after the plants... the human race was hooked! and we wanted more! more! more! When Spielberg regrettably told interviewers that he had no intention of making a sequel to E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, it instantly became open-season for the imitators... but way before somebody squeezedout, Mac & Me, ALF and The Purple People Eater a team of kid’s TV executives in Catalunya were ready to fill the widening gap in the market without haste. Created in 1983 by Luna Films and Televisió de Catalunya (TV3) and screened exclusively in Catalunya, Kiu I Els Seus Amics was one of the first E.T. “tributes” to make it out of the gate, and with a crew of five individual directors and writers to ensure that the five episode, one-off series hit the wave of phone-home-fever, “Kiu” has since remained a short but sweet micro-memory in the hearts of an entire generation of Catalonian cosmonauts.
