It is a very unsettling score to listen to, and composer Mark Fox added even more to it for this release.

Beat Records is relaunching on CD the classic OST by Ennio Morricone for the Gothic horror film Amanti d'oltretomba (Nightmare castle), directed in 1965 by Mario Caiano, starring Barbara Steele, Rick Battaglia, Paul Müller, Helga Liné, Marino Masè, Giuseppe Addobbati, and Lawrence Clift.For Muriel, Morricone wrote a theme introduced on piano (played by the protagonist in some scenes in the film) and developed for the orchestra, "Amanti D'oltretomba"), then reprised in the finale. A gothic atmosphere is created by the solemnity of a liturgical organ, and the spirits from beyond the grave are represented by music for dissonant strings with trumpet interventions and fragments of the main theme for piano. A theme for Muriel's restless ghost is represented by female voices from the Cantori Moderni, and a magma of experimental sounds creates an infernal atmosphere for the story's damned souls. This CD assembly, with a total duration of 39:24, was derived from the original mono and stereo session tapes and originally approved by Maestro Morricone himself.

Fonit's "B 85", part of the legendary Serie Usignolo, which bears the signatures of the mysterious Coscia (perhaps a moniker of accordionist Gianni?) and Formini, is another cult library music release: an orchestral pop record whose tracks are curiously recommended to accompany 'viewings of vast parks, footage of agriculture, ads, moving crowds and congested traffic jams, American working-class districts' with hilarious titles such as "Dayda", "Schizzo", "Palmas", "Murlak" (which casts an incredible fuzz guitar), "Bronx" and "Ciresa Facaud". In two words: a must!

Digitmovies releases for the very first time on CD and LP the complete edition in full stereo of the OST for the Italian cult TV series "Orzowei" which was composed by the prolific brothers Guido & Maurizio De Angelis. Based on the novel “Orzowei” written by Alberto Manzi and issued in 1955, the story was adapted into 13 episodes of an international TV hit series wich was produced in 1976 by Italian and German companies. It was directed by the French filmaker Yves Allégret and starred Peter Marshall as Isa / Orzowei, the British star Stanley Baker, Doris Kunstmann, Vincenzo Crocitti, and Bonne Lubega. This TV program was broadcasted in Italy in early 1977 and presented again with version especially re-edited for cinema theaters called "Orzowei - il figlio della savana” (“Orzowei - Son of the Savannah”).
Isa, a white child abandoned in the forest of South Africa, is found and raised like a son by an old great warrior and by an old woman, both of them belonging to the Swazi people, an ethnic grouping of the Bantu tribe. Due to his white skin he is jokingly called Orzowei, “the found”. After his escape from the Swazi village, he takes refuge to a forest where he is adopted as a son by Pao, the sage man of a Bosciman tribe. At the end Orzowei will really have to fight against the Swazi, the people who had brought him up as a child, and to defeat Mesei, his arch enemy.
In those days only one single was issued: RCA BB 6054, a very big international record hit. This CD has been possible thanks to the stereo master tapes which have been well preserved in the RCA archives. Concerning "Orzowei" besides the 45 rpm single versions “Orzowei” and “Le notti di Orzowei” we have also added alternate takes of the famous theme song like a different mix, the instrumental version, an evocative version with an echoed solo flute, the very cool karaoke version, an alternate take of “Le notti di Orzowei” without flute (all the original material discovered on the master tapes, if we consider that possibly in the TV series library music was re-used). Only recently we were able to discover on another mastertape three extra alternate takes that with big joy we include in thi very new re-issue. A OST of the ’70s Italian TV CULT which we absolutely wanted to rescue and preserve to honour the musical art of Guido & Maurizio De Angelis.

The Primevals belongs to a different time, a different place, an imagined world of monsters, myth and magic that has only ever existed within the confines of classic fantasy cinema. Even if its chief architect, David Allen, had lived and the film had been released in the 1990s, it would have still been out of synch with the zeitgeist. Fifty years ago, filmmaker David Allen registered the story for the film that would become The Primevals. His goal was to elevate the art of stop-motion animation into more serious, thoughtful storytelling. In the mid-1960s, the film had started as an homage to Edgar Rice Burroughs, reminiscent of the fantasy films by Ray Harryhausen that had impressed David as a child. He sadly died in 1999 and the task of completing the film fell to his visual effects colleague Chris Endicott. Award winning and Emmy nominated composer Richard Band is primarily known as a composer for Horror and Genre films. He was recently awarded the Mosma Film Music Festival’s “life Achievement Award” and the subsequent two nights of concerts in Malaga, Spain included an encore in which The Primevals main title for full orchestra had its live premiere. The music represents a glorious hark back to the classic scores that fuelled so many of the Harryhausen films of the 1950s and 1960s. A delirious thrill-ride through the joys of monsters, ray-guns, spaceships and good old-fashioned stop motion animation.

Beat Records and Digitmovies are pleased to release for the absolute first time on CD the complete edition of the brilliant soundtrack by Guido & Maurizio De Angelis for the sci-fi comedy “Chissà perché… capitano tutte a me” (aka Everything Happens to Me) directed in 1980 by Michele Lupo and a cast starring Bud Spencer, Cary Guffey, Ferruccio Amendola, John Bartha, Giancarlo Bastianoni, Paolo Figlia, Lorenzo Fineschi, Giovanni Gianfriglia, Robert Hundar, Clayton Landey, Amedeo Leorini, Ottaviano Dell'Acqua, and Carlo Reali. For the sequel to “Uno sceriffo extraterrestre... poco extra e molto terrestre” where Sheriff Scott Hall fights crime and alien androids to protect the extraterrestrial child H7-25 with the final victory of the good guys, Guido & Maurizio De Angelis composed a really nice soundtrack. At the time, a 45 rpm single (Polydor 2040289) was released in Germany featuring the tracks “Mr. Nothingoesright,” a vocal version, and the instrumental “Blue Space.” For this vinyl of ours, with a duration of 38:28, we used the recording session master tapes provided by Cabum. The main theme, “Mr. Nothingoesright” is the funny country tune that we hear in the version performed by the famous Douglas Meakin and reprised in instrumental versions. The legendary De Angelis brothers wrote dramatic and action music with a recurring electronic rock piece that serves as the background to Sheriff Scott's skirmishes with criminals which is also reprised in an extended version entitled “Blue Space”. The Oliver Onions songs “Six Ways” and “What I'll do” also appear in some scenes throughout the film. Mastering by Claudio Fuiano, graphic layout by Daniele De Gemini.

Fifteen of the 19 tracks contained in Endless Poetry: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack were composed and performed by Alejandro's son Adan Jodorowsky (AKA Adanowsky), who also stars in the film, portraying his own father as a young man. Multi-instrumentalist composer/arranger Jon Handelsman contributed four songs to the soundtrack. "Sueño sin fin" was composed and arranged by both Handelsman and Alejandro Jodorowsky (the filmmaker's own contribution to Endless Poetry: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack). Armando Trovajoli composed and directed a brilliant lounge-style soundtrack based on the main theme. It is introduced in the opening credits and sung by Mal dei Primivites on track1, and is then reprised with captivating instrumental arrangements. For the four protagonists, Maestro Trovajoli composed a jazz motif with a spylike atmosphere. Armando Trovajoli performs the scat singing with an airy piece using organ and tempo and performs the main theme on the piano. For this LP we were able to use the mono tapes from the recording session.

Of the soundtrack, Stetson says:

"The question posed initially when conceiving of this score was what exactly is the sonic representation of a cosmic alien color that does not exist in this terrestrial reality? I began trying to answer that by layering the sounds of coral reefs, processing that cacophony and finding the order revealed through harmonic generation of these hyperdensities, and then continued to chase that same concept of 'transfiguring the natural' down every path and application I could see. Turns out it's somewhere between magenta and hot pink :)"

Despite the memory constraints of the DirectMusic system at the time, Kyd delivered a simmering combination of ambient and cinematic music. His signature sound of grand melodies set against groove-based electronica is in evidence here, especially in the hypnotic main title track.

John Carpenter has been responsible for much of the horror genre's most striking soundtrack work in the fifteen movies he's both directed and scored. The themes can instantly flood his fans' musical memory with imagery of a menacing shape stalking a babysitter, a relentless wall of ghost-filled fog, lightning-fisted kungfu fighters, or a mirror holding the gateway to hell. The music on Lost Themes is there for Carpenter's acolytes to visualize their own nightmares. As is Carpenter's style, repetition is the key to the thundering power of these tracks, their energy swirling with shredding chords, soaring organs, unnerving pianos and captivating percussion. Horror fans will be reminded of Carpenter's past works, as well as ancestors like Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells and Goblin's Suspiria. Wilbert Roget, II is a veteran composer in the video game and film industries. He later became a freelance writer, scoring Mortal Kombat 1, Star Wars: Outlaws, Call of Duty: WWII, the Emmy Award-winning Star Wars: Vader Immortal, and many other high-profile game scores. He has also written for Japanese anime, scoring the upcoming Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance. His work has earned him several awards and nominations from ASCAP, the Game Audio Network Guild, the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (D.I.C.E. Awards), and others. Roget also co-founded Impact Soundworks, a successful music software company, and is an accomplished lecturer on game music. He frequently gives online masterclasses and tutorials on music composition and production and has a passion for teaching the craft. He is an avid multi-instrumentalist, performing solo flute, keyboards, world instruments, and guitar on many of his scores.

You know that feeling you get when you’re shook awake in mid-dream? You were teetering on the ledge of a building, or maybe trying to free a butterfly from a spider web while wearing cricket gloves? Perhaps you’re running late for a train and your short cut takes you through a bad part of town, you’re being followed but the ever changing reflection in the shop window is a younger you, a healthier person – with a better hairstyle. It’s an anxiety thing, an off-kilter almost world, best summed up on the soundtrack for Blue Velvet, David Lynch’s 1986 film that nods somnambulantly to the shadowy netherworld of film noir. Oedipal fantasies, finding a severed ear on your way home, voyeurism, crime and retribution, violence; they’re all there in abundance in the movie, a rotten sleazy commercialism set off against a set of strange situations that the edge of the seat is never far away from. And what soundtrack would suit such an experience? Of course a mix of orchestral pieces from composer and conductor Angelo Badalamenti inspired by Shoshtakovich’s 15th Symphony (which rumour has it Lynch played onset to create the ‘mood’) mixed up with trashy Hammond-led boogie and overblown baroque pop from Roy Orbison and Ketty Lester, suitable for any dive’s jukebox. That awkward mix plays itself out in Isabella Rossellini as Dorothy’s rendition of the song ‘Blue Velvet’ that melds beautifully and indeed hauntingly into ‘Blue Star’, a broken piece of vintage pop. Similarly, the track ‘Going Down To Lincoln’ with its narrative audio shtick takes all of the previously-mused elements to create a perfectly disjointed travelogue. The soundtrack album starts with Bernard Hermann-styled Hitchcock-esque strings and violin slashes, which dally before deconstructing the themes and motifs into a disturbing procession that climaxes with Julee Cruise’s funereal ‘Mysteries Of Love’, a fittingly titled epilogue to an epic that concludes with the hero’s true love’s reality of a simplistic birdsong dream from earlier in the film. It’s a cyclical trip that feeds directly back to the beginning and, yes, there’s that severed ear again, now ant infested laying on the ground, proving that dreams become real, or is it reality that becomes a dream?

Waxwork Records is proud to announce the debut vinyl release of Rob Zombie’s Halloween II Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. Released in 2009, Rob Zombie’s Halloween II is an American slasher film written, directed, and produced by Rob Zombie. The film is a sequel to Zombie’s 2007 reimagining of 1978’s Halloween and the tenth installment in the Halloween franchise starring Tyler Mane as Michael Myers, Malcolm McDowell as Dr. Sam Loomis, Sheri Moon Zombie, Scout Taylor-Compton, and Brad Douriff. The film picks up where the 2007 film ended and then jumping ahead one year. Halloween II follows Laurie Strode as she deals with the aftermath of the previous film’s events, Dr. Loomis trying to capitalize on those events by publishing a book that chronicles the events, and Michael Myers as he continues his search for Laurie so he can reunite with his sister.
