The story of Eyeshield 21 follows the protagonist Sena, the whipping boy of his classmates, who wants to earn respect by joining a club at the start of the school year. He crosses paths with Hiruma, head of the American soccer club, who recruits him for his exceptional running skills. They must quickly find 11 other players, as the inter-school championship begins in 24 hours. Numerous artists and composers were involved in creating the theme music and accompanying songs, including Kosuke Morimoto, who contributed to various theme songs for Fullmetal Alchemist and One Piece. Any fan of the series will have a strong feeling of nostalgia when they recall the music that marked them during their teenage years. The very Pop-rock and J-pop tones will remind them of those after-school afternoons watching episodes of this epic anime on Game One. Without Umiliani’s contribution, Italian jazz, film music and library music would lack some of the key identifying features we associate them with today, thanks to his ability to carve out a distinctive sound identity from his personal craft, the studio he built and the trust he gained from his collaborators. This identity for many simply encapsulates the cipher of an unrepeated age of Italian popular music.
At the Sound Work Shop studio (opened in 1968) Umiliani conceived the majority of his projects and hosted the recording sessions for numerous movie soundtracks, pop hits and library music albums by the most remarkable musicians in Rome — including himself. In this exciting environment, he had the opportunity to experiment with many different styles, from funk to psychedelic rock, from disco to avant-garde, from easy-listening to electronic music, following the ever-changing needs of the soundtrack and library music industries. He therefore mastered an extreme variety of genres, moods and atmospheres, often mixing up their peculiar features to achieve unusual combinations in albums conceived both for production purposes and for home listening.
Umiliani’s ability to reinvent the concept of musicianship in the fast-moving society of his time made him a modern musician in the most complete sense of the term, by putting himself in charge of every facet of his work, from the conception to the production, the recording, the publishing and even the packaging of his own music.
In less than two decades, Umiliani released almost 80 records on the three labels he established between the mid-1960s and the early 1970s: Omicron, Liuto, and Sound Work Shop, besides all the music he was simultaneously composing for movie productions, licensed and published by Italian major companies.
This box set allows us to fully appreciate this little-known side of Piero Umiliani in an unprecedented way: his ability to seamlessly intertwine his musical creativity with his vision as a producer and publisher emerges clearly from this series as a unique feature of this composer. 15 tracks from the psychedelic metroidvania game Music by Oscar “Ratvader” Rydelius, featuring El Huervo (Hotline Miami), Björn Risberg, and more Standard Edition black LPs Sleeve artwork by El Huervo Deluxe gatefold sleeve Transcendent dreams demand tangible manifestation, and so we present Ratvader's mesmerising, mystical soundtrack for the psychedelic metroidvania Ultros on wax.

15 tracks have been specially mastered for vinyl and will be pressed onto heavyweight discs, to be housed in a deluxe gatefold sleeve. Sleeve art is by Niklas “El Huervo” Åkerblad, the visionary artist for Ultros, and renowned artistic and musical contributor to the iconic Hotline Miami series.

Oscar Rydelius — AKA Ratvader — created a mellifluous, melodic soundtrack that sounds both organically human and alien at the same time. Hypnotic musical build-ups are patiently drawn out. He took the lead from Åkerblad/El Huervo’s mesmerising art, while ensuring Ultros’ music “leaves room for the eyes.”

The score is peppered with field recordings of nature sounds from the Amazon rainforest and Peruvian instruments like whistling jars and bone flutes, giving some tracks a 1960s and ’70s New Age feeling. Classical instruments like the Cello and Flute, as well as haunting vocals, sail atop dense harmonic tapestries. For parts of the recording during the Covid pandemic, Rydelius and Åkerblad rented cabins on the Swedish island of Gotland (a notable Ingmar Bergman and Tarkovsky filming location) in order to soak up the natural vibes of that environment.

Central to the soul of the soundtrack is Cello player Björn Risberg, whose lyrical playing features prominently. Joining him were multi-flute instrumentalist Adrian Åsling Sellius, violinist Agnes Högberg and vocalist Anna-Maria Lundberg, in addition to El Huervo on multiple tracks.

The vinyl track selection focuses on the world and Sarcophagus of Ultros. Ratvader personally curated the tracklist so that listeners would spin the vinyl, lay flat on the floor, and enter the world of the game, aiming for “a pleasant and present experience.”

The X2lp was cut at the world famous Abbey Road Studios. The Doom (Original Game Soundtrack) will be available in two formats at retail; a Deluxe Double CD in a triple gatefold sleeve including all 31 tracks from the game and a deluxe Double Vinyl with 20 favorite tracks selected by the developers pressed on 180g red vinyl and cased in a deluxe sleeve with full printed inner sleeves. A Game Awards 2016 Winner for Best Music / Sound Design and Bafta Games Nominee for Best Music and Audio Achievement, the Doom (Original Game Soundtrack) brings the trademark pulse-pounding and demon-stomping audio experience to fans for the first time on physical disc. Composed by long-time Bethesda collaborator Mick Gordon, his dark and intense vision channels industrial metal to mirror Doom’s trademark brutal power fantasy gameplay across 31 synth and metal-filled tracks, spanning over two hours of run time. A true passion project, the recording process saw Gordon representing Doom’s portrayal of Hell through the role of energy in sound production, imparting the physical properties of analogue equipment onto digital sources. To mimic the power of Hell and its coruptive Argent energy, Mick created the “Doom Instrument”. Consisting of pure sine wave inputs directed into four separate sound processing chains and a variety of post-processing techniques, it allowed Gordon to dynamically ‘corrupt’ generated sounds. Further callbacks to the franchise’s legacy and imagery are found as the soundtrack’s signature screeching guitar lines are layered with the chainsaw audio from the original 1993 title.

There was so much happening visually in the Wachowski Brothers' instant sci-fi classic The Matrix that it was easy to overlook Don Davis' score. It is true that Davis' music is the most conventional element of the film, often following familiar action film patterns, but that's not to say that it's predictable. There are long quiet stretches that are quite eerie, even without the film to support the music, and he employs dissonance and quick, powerful staccatos quite effectively. And when he turns to grand, sweeping themes, such as on the closing "Anything Is Possible," it's hard not get caught up in the momentum of the piece. It still works better with the film, but The Matrix is the rare score that is nearly as effective as a stand-alone work as it is in the film. - allmusic.com

“The Last Wave” (also known as “Black Rain” in the US) was the final chapter in a trilogy of films scripted and directed by the leading auteur of the Australian New Wave, Peter Weir. “The Last Wave” was a landmark in existential horror. Sitting alongside other Australian eco-terror films (e.g. “Long Weekend”) the film featured a haunting electronic soundtrack that is as mysterious and beguiling as the spiritual themes of the film itself. With no LP issued after the films premiere in 1977, and together with the mystery surrounding the true identity of its enigmatic composer ‘Charles Wain’, the score is a largely unheard recording of pioneering experimental film electronics, easily compared to the music that contemporaries Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream were composing for Australian films during the same period or the electronic soundtracks of John Carpenter. Tense atonal electronics, synthesizer drones and manipulated Didgeridoo all perfectly capture the film’s ominous atmosphere, punctuating the slow hypnotic pace of this brooding supernatural thriller. All original 12 tracks have been sourced from the original stereo master tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl. The deluxe packaging includes archival film stills and original press material.

During the '60s and '70s, three distinguished gentlemen who had built their careers playing French-made exotic jazz (Roger Roger, Nino Nardini and orchestra leader Eddie Warner) met each evening in the Ganaro recording studio. They mainly experimented -or simply played- with keyboards that looked like prototypes of spaceships. Flying high on whimsical and joyful inspiration, the improbable trio used their strange instruments to sketch out the beginnings of something that, at that time, resembled the future of music. Recognized for his work on The Witcher: Blood and Wine, This War of Mine among many others, Piotr has had the opportunity to work with some of the most amazing orchestras in the world such as London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonia, Capellen Orchestra, Berlin Scoring, including at legendary recording venues such as Abbey Road Studios.

Aside from his work with games, Piotr has a successful career in producing music for TV shows & film advertising. He has had his music used in some of the biggest Hollywood campaigns (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, The House with a Clock in Its Walls, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Pete’s Dragon), and has also worked with John Paesano on Penny Dreadful: The City of Angels and Leonardo.

Agnes, taken for granted as a suburban mother, discovers a passion
for solving jigsaw puzzles which unexpectedly draws her into a new
world - where her life unfolds in ways she could never have imagined.
The soundtrack to Puzzle is composed by A Winged Victory for the
Sullen member Dustin O’Halloran. He says about his recordings: “I
wanted the score to have a minimal sound in order to leave space
for the performances of the actors, so I decided on a chamber sound
consisting of piano, string quartet, harp and woodwinds.” For the last
track “Horizons” he contacted his friend Ane Brun, who created beautiful
melodies and words that perfectly captured the feelings of the character
Agnes.
Dustin O’Halloran released his first two albums, entitled Piano Solos
and Piano Solos 2 in 2004 and 2006. Later on he scored multiple
soundtracks, including Marie Antoinette, Lion and The Beauty Inside.

Thom Yorke’s Suspiria (Music for the Luca Guadagnino Film) is released on XL Recordings. Suspiria consists of 25 original compositions written by Thom specifically for Luca Guadagnino reimagining of the 1977 Dario Argento horror classic. The album is a mix of instrumental score work, interstitial pieces and interludes, and more traditional song structures featuring Thom’s vocals such as Unmade, Has Ended and Suspirium, the album's first single featuring the melodic theme that recurs throughout the film and its score.

As scoring a horror film presented Thom with altogether new challenges and opportunities, Suspiria stands apart from any of his other work. Piano / vocal ballads, Krautrock-esque modular synth work inspired by the film’s Berlin 1977 setting, multilayered vocals, and melodies that convey terror, longing and melancholy combine to create a chaotic yet cohesive musical spell.

Suspiria was written and arranged by Thom Yorke, recorded and produced by Thom and Sam Petts-Davies. The album also features the London Contemporary Orchestra and Choir, Noah Yorke on drums on Has Ended and Volk, and Pasha Mansurov on solo flute on Suspirium.
