Music From the Terminator Movies, featuring music highlights from composers Brad Fiedel, Marco Beltrami, Danny Elfman, Lorne Balfe and Tom Holkenborg AKA Junkie XL.

Scoring for the Terminator franchise has come full circle and with this new album, London Music Works curates its musical journey. The album follows the scores chronologically, opening with Brad Fiedel’s pre-MIDI age synth clash between human and machine In Terminator and Terminator 2. Fiedel’s score is followed by Marco Beltrami’s predominantly orchestral backdrop in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. Danny Elfman’s Terminator: Salvation score pulls back from the orchestral sound and morphs into a sensual man-machine contrast. In Terminator: Genisys, Lorne Balfe picks the vintage synth sound of Terminator 2, whilst creating his own fantastical soundscaping. The score for Terminator: Dark Fate shows the respect Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) pays to Brad Fiedel and his iconic 1984 theme. Here, Holkenborg has updated Fiedel’s work, with writing for, and performing on synthesizers from the 2010s, and as such the statements of the theme in this score have a richer, almost organic electronic sound.

The hugely successful Terminator movies centre on the battle for survival between humans and the world-spanning synthetic intelligence that is Skynet. The sci-fi action-adventure series was created by director James Cameron, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator, a cyborg assassin. The first film was shown in July 1991 and since then the films, the 1984 main music theme, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator and Linda Hamilton’s feminist icon Sarah Connor have all achieved cult status.

Pitt and Freeman star as Detectives Mills and Somerset as they search for the elusive serial killer John Doe (Spacey), who has been carrying out meticulously planned murders based on each of the Seven Deadly Sins. As the murders pile up, the detectives gain insight to John Doe’s twisted philosophy, leading to the grizzly end of his terrible crime spree.

The score by master composer Howard Shore brings a somber and menacing component to the movie. The dark and symphonic orchestrations undercut Fincher’s gruesome images with an unyielding tension throughout the film. Shore’s deep resonant brass and high eerie strings drag the listener deeper into the cruel and chaotic world of Se7en.

Back in the 1990s video games were still largely seen as nerdy: fun, sure, but basically a guilty pleasure that you'd soon grow out of. The release in 1995 of wipE'out'', a lightning-fast, razor-sharp, futuristic racing game that helped to launch the PlayStation in Europe and North America, changed all that. This was a game that looked and sounded both adult and cool, the kind of game you would put on display in your living room, rather than hide away under your bed. Key to this was the fact that wipE'out'' borrowed unashamedly from the clubbing experience and electronic music, in a way that put it at the heart of progressive mid 90s culture. It soon became a phenomenon. wipE'out'' looked sensational, with Sheffield agency The Designers Republic - known for their work with Warp - creating the visuals, packaging and manual for the game, drawing heavily on the bright colours and excitable geometric shapes of the rave and club flyers of the early 90s. wipE'out'' also sounded like a new rave dream. The European version of the game included music from The Chemical Brothers, Leftfield and Orbital, the kind of fashionable game syncs that were almost unheard of at the time. Equally striking was the game's original music, which came from Welsh musician Tim Wright, aka CoLD SToRAGE, by this point already a veteran in the video games world, having worked on the music for Amiga titles such as Lemmings and Shadow of the Beast 2. His music for wipE'out'' was, if anything, even more extreme than the big-name syncs, mixing the accelerated beats of drum & bass with the pure synth rush of trance to make music that sounded as breathlessly exciting as playing the game felt. These tracks were burned into the brains of millions of gamers; the soundtrack to a generation of late-night anti-gravity racing, as the sun gingerly rose beyond the curtains. But they haven't, perhaps, quite got the respect they deserve, something that this release will address. In 2023, video game music is finally getting its dues; here, remastered and repackaged -and also remixed by cutting edge producers such as Kode9, ?-Ziq, Brainwaltzera, Simo Cell, Wordcolour, James Shinra, Surgeons Girl and Dattassette- are some of the most important, thrilling, innovative and most fun songs ever committed to game release.

After 2 years of absence from our catalogue we are glad to reveal we are close to release a new edition of Fabio Frizzi’s fans most beloved horror score, Zombi 2, with the American title of Zombie Flesh Eaters, a project we are developing since five years! Since ever paired with Un gatto nel cervello, now finally alone in a version that is gifted with unreleased material which was recorded in a tape found in an old Ribot archive. One of the holy grails in our catalogue, since ever bitterly loved, because of its shortness: even if the older version featured a good portion of the score, it was largely incomplete. With the addition of the material transferred from this extra tape, and with the song There’s no matter, which can be heard at the beginning of the movie, when the two protagonists investigate the sequestered ship, we can attest this is the definitive edition of this outstanding soundtrack which marks a significant style evolution of the Maestro, aside the growth of his artistic relationship with Lucio Fulci. In this edition we offer the score on CD in a deluxe hardpaper box with the insane artwork by Graham Humphreys, both on the box and on the 40 pages book inside, slim jewelcase with a maxi inlay featuring the iconic photographic poster of the time and a crazy black and white artwork by Alexandros Pyromallis. Split, a terrifying, breakneck thriller, centers on Kevin Wendell Crumb (James McAvoy), a man with dissociative identity disorder whose more sinister personalities (collectively known as The Horde) kidnap three teenage girls. The plan is to feed the “impure” girls to another of Crumb’s personalities, a superhuman creature known as The Beast. The final girl, Casey Cooke (Anya Taylor-Joy) is spared because The Beast sees scars covering Casey’s body, markers of child-hood abuse. Because Casey, unlike the other girls, has suffered, her heart is pure. “Rejoice,” The Beast tells her. “The broken are the more evolved.”

The Split score, by West Dylan Thordson, became the first collaboration between Shyamalan and the composer. Sonic, sinister and foreboding, the music was unlike any recorded for a film before. “I started by recording several loose takes of some simple harmonic bowing ideas with a cellist and violinist,” Thordson said. “The intention was to heavily modulate the captured sounds. While playing around with an idea in the past, I’d accidentally captured something like this and wanted to explore it more. The resulting sound was extremely chaotic, unpredictable, and scary. It felt haunted and seemed to capture the otherworldly, tortured, animalistic quality I was looking for. I wanted it to feel like “Jaws,” foreshadowing the existence of this malevolent being.”

After a decade of creating pioneering puppet series made for children, Gerry & Sylvia Anderson took their first steps into live-action, with the 1969 feature film Doppelgänger (re-titled outside Britain as Journey To The Far Side Of The Sun). This science-fiction film approached its outer space subject matter with a gritty realism, and would set the tone for what was to be their first live-action television series: UFO. This new series took as a starting point the pioneering work of Dr Christiaan N. Barnard, the surgeon who performed the world’s first heart transplant operation. In UFO a dying race of aliens travel across vast distances of space to harvest organs from human beings to help ensure their own survival. To combat this threat the United Nations created SHADO, a top-secret organisation utilising the latest technology available to defend the Earth. To complement the series, the Andersons frequent musical collaborator Barry Gray created a multifaceted score that gave the programme its own musical identity. Elegantly crafted and a firm favourite with Barry Gray fans, the sound of UFO, particularly its ethereal “World Music” closing credits is, quite simply, a joy. This is a record of rare beauty that collects the soundtrack of a 1975 film called "Drugged Rome: the Police Can't Intervene" (in English "Hallucination Strip") directed by Lucio Marcaccini. The soundtrack was written by Alber Verrecchia, a French composer (but I presume originally from Italy) who came to Italy in the 1960s and formed the group I Pyranas, with whom he recorded two albums released by Arc. In the 1970s Verrecchia devoted himself mainly to making soundtracks, including the one presented here. Unlike other soundtrack composers, Verrecchia preferred electric sounds to orchestral arrangements. This disc contains interesting tracks in rock and blues styles, with some psychedelic influences. Musicians featured on the record include Cyan, Baba Yaga, Toni Esposito, and singer Sammy Barbot (whom we may remember best as the host of two 1980s TV shows, Piccolo Slam and Popcorn). The Cyans are an old acquaintance of ours, who are credited with a 33 rpm in 1972 and a handful of singles; Le Baba Yaga were a female trio who made a single in 1972; and finally Toni Esposito who needs no introduction. Singer Edda Dell'Orso, with her soprano voice, also appears on two tracks. In short, a unique record in the panorama of soundtracks

In the immense Goblin discography, an enormous void has always been represented by the original motion picture soundtrack of Squadra Antimafia, a score which we have tried to find, since many years, but that is apparently lost. A 1978 movie full of absolute cult icons among which Tomas Milian, Bombolo, Enzo Cannavale, Eli Wallach, Massimo Vanni directed by Bruno Corbucci: to this incredible list of stars to add Goblin is exciting. So, a while ago, following the initiative of Fabio Capuzzo, veteran musicians of the prog and funky Italian scene are involved and gathered to work to a new recording session of this amazing score. The result isn’t intercepted too late by Beat Records radars and so we are proud to give a discographic life to this wonderful project through which, with extreme precision and care has been realized again the soundtrack now expressed through the sonorities of Marcello Bonetta (keyboards), Diego Vergari (drums, percussions) Giorgio Giuseppe Tonazzo (bass), Antonio Micheli (Guitar). All the funk created by Goblin to comment Milian vicissitudes is replicated with renovated vigor and vintage charm, to the program couldn’t be missing the cue “E lassame perde” that, thanks to the collaboration between Fabio Capuzzo and Alan Donati, son of the original singer Aldo, could count on the real voice of the crooner taken from a demo stored in the family estate archive. Also present a new version of the Goblin cue AMO NON AMO, arranged by Marcello Bonetta and Diego Vergari, as a special bonus track. In Blastfighter’s case the long waiting is also due to the label and the artist need to dedicate the correct amount of energy to the relevant release, in order to obtain the best possible result. A score which is dear to Fabio Frizzi, with funky sounds infested with cool bursting electronics, typical of the artist musical canon of the early 80s, it has been played many times by the Maestro, worldwide, during his concerts with his band. Audiences always delighted by a vibrant suite dedicated to Lamberto Bava movie. Doctor Who – Revenge Of The Cybermen was the season 12 finale first broadcast on April 19th, 1975. As with so much television music of the 1960s, ‘70s and ‘80s, the original master tapes of Carey Blyton’s score for Revenge of the Cybermen were not retained. The only surviving copy is a set of four 7”, 7.5ips “composer’s copy” domestic 1/4-inch tape. It is from those digital transfers that this release is taken. Sadly, and to Carey’s obvious and understandable disappointment, the completed music did not meet with the complete approval of the production team, and much of it was not used. Peter Howell of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop added some electronic embellishments and arranged some additional cues for parts two and three but some of that was also left on the proverbial cutting room floor. For this release, Carey’s original score is presented (and heard here for the first time) as written. This is followed by the additional, alternative, and “enhanced” cues, all of which were also on Carey Blyton’s tapes.

Doctor Who – Time And The Rani was the opening serial of season 24, first broadcast on September 7th, 1987. It marked the debut of Sylvester McCoy and featured CGI in a very basic form as the technology was still in development. It also debuted a new computer animated opening title sequence with a new synthesiser version of the theme created by Keff McCulloch.

The composer was invited to create incidental music for the series and became a regular member of the team also writing music for Delta & The Bannerman, Paradise Towers, Remembrance Of The Daleks, Silver Nemesis, Battlefield, Dimensions In Time and Shada.

Keff, Dominic Glynn and Mark Ayres were the composers for the last three years of Doctor Who on its original run that ended in 1989, the latter compiling and producing this release.

I PREDATORI DI ATLANTIDE (AKA Atlantis Inferno) is a post-atomic movie directed by Ruggero Deodato in 1983. It narrates the adventures of Mike Ross (Christopher Connelly), Washington (Malik Farrakhan) and of a group of characters bound to the events revolving around the sinking of a Soviet submarine, close to Florida shores. A series of twists will bring the group on an island, just submerged from the abyss which is the mythical Atlantis. The score, unreleased if we pay exception to a 7” vinyl of the 80s featuring the song BLACK INFERNO, is finally integrally available on CD, displaying a magnificent electronic style in the prevalent mood of many of the De Angelis’ bros scores of that decade such as Alien 2 sulla terra or 2019 dopo la caduta di New York. A much requested title by fans of the composers, we put an end to the waiting thanks to this release featuring a jewel case edition, mastering by Enrico De Gemini, graphic layout by Daniele De Gemini and derailing liner notes by eclectic musical critic Fabio Babini.

In a semi-deserted Rome during a hot August, the story of the three main characters is told. After a long search, he manages to convince his friend Sergio, who contracts an illness as soon as he leaves the capital city, so Enzo needs to find a replacement as soon as possible. Leo is an awkward young man who lives in Trastevere with his mother, who is waiting for him by the sea to spend mid-August together. However, the young man is delayed by Marisol, a beautiful Spanish tourist who asks him for help. Shy and naive, Leo finds himself forced to host the exuberant foreigner at home, but just when something tender seems to be blossoming between the two, her boyfriend arrives… Ruggero and his girlfriend Fiorenza arrive in Rome after a long stay in a hippie community. There, the boy meets his father, who invites them home. With the help of Father Alfio and Professor Anselmo, the man hopes to convince his son to get back on the right track. The music Un sacco bello marks the first collaboration between Ennio Morricone and Carlo Verdone, resulting in a very pleasant score that accompanies the situations of each episode. A rhythmic funky piece (Tr.1) opens both the film and our CD, but the bulk of the soundtrack is based on variations of theme for Marisol, the Spanish girl that Ennio Morricone describes with different styles and arrangements: rhythmic and vivacious (Tr.2), slow and nostalgic for flute and guitar (Tr.3), romantic and dreamy performed by the orchestra (Tr.4,Tr.7), and a slow, rhythmic passage with moog (Tr.5). A samba for trumpet with mute, percussion and moog describes the atmosphere of a bourgeois living room (Tr.6). The finale of the film features the unmistakable whistle of Alessandro Alessandroni and the flugelhorn of Oscar Valdambrini accompanied by the orchestra (Tr.12). At the time, Cinevox Records released a 45 rpm single (mdf 127) with the themes "Un Sacco Bello (Titoli di coda)" and "Un salotto borghese." Then, we had to wait until 2002, when Cinevox Records released a CD (mdf 352) entitled Bianco Rosso E Morricone, featuring selections from "Un Sacco Bello" and "Bianco Rosso e Verdone". For this new CD edition with a duration of 40:00, we were able to access the first generation stereo master tapes of the recording sessions, which allowed us to discover three unreleased tracks: an alternate version of "Un salotto borghese" and two beautiful versions of the love theme vocalized by Nora Orlandi, who carries the motif through the end credits. A fitting homage to the art of Ennio Morricone and Carlo Verdone.

Behold the might of Rodan, the giant monster from the sky! In 1956, Toho unleashed their first colour kaiju picture: Rodan, directed by Ishiro Honda and produced by Tomoyuki Tanaka, is a terrifying tale from the creators of the original Godzilla that sees a giant Pteranodon rise from a deep underground cave after being disturbed by miners. Like the Big G, Rodan has mutated to excessive size after being exposed to nuclear radiation, subsequently soaring free above Kyushu to cause as much mayhem as possible as the Jsdf do their best to protect the island from his bloodthirsty rampaging. It was inevitable that the man behind the music of Godzilla would also take on scoring Rodan, and the great Akira Ifukube created a score with a solemn edge as with Godzilla, which makes the music of Rodan fit in the larger universe while allowing it to feel unique to the character. For the main theme, Ifukube introduces a malevolent low piano and brass phrase before cointerpointing it with horns to create a howling menace worthy of Rodan. In contrast, beautiful but melancholy material represents the carnage the monster has brought upon the Earth; in a more upbeat mode, the composer includes another of his jaunty and jazzy marches for the Jdsf in the guise of 'Get Rodan'. It's another Toho triumph from the great maestro Ifukube! (Charlie Brigden).

Starring James Fox as a British gangster on the run who finds refuge in the home of reclusive ex-rock star Mick Jagger, Donald Cammell and Nicolas Roeg's Performance is one of the great cult movies of the 1970s. The film's soundtrack, produced by Jack Nitzsche for Warner Bros., is equally noteworthy. Needless to say, the Rolling Stones connection is strong; the Jagger-sung single "Memo From Turner" was co-written with Keith Richards, and vocalist Merry Clayton (famous as the duet partner on "Gimme Shelter") appears on three tracks. A potently multithreaded horror film: What seems like the contemplation of grief becomes a tale of unspeakable and enigmatic terror. Complementing this twisted tale is the haunting score by Polish composer Wojciech Golczewski (mohawk, Beyond THE Gates) and three otherworldly rock numbers by Slow Moses and Kleen Kut. Golczewski’s deft compositions embrace the story’s rich dynamic but never try to overstep it.

As we experience the trials of the Sacchetti couple, who’ve moved into an old farmhouse in an inhospitable New England town, Golczewski treats us to a host of equally delicate and indelicate passages. Dry, creaky strings, an ominous electronic hum, and the searing burn of the synths all leave an indelible mark with each suspended breath of foreboding and every histrionic blaze. Phoenix-based Slow Moses’ dreamy “Gas Station” and hallucinogenic “Teenage Sun” are bruised-and-battered songs that add a whimsical counterpoint to the beautifully terrifying tapestries that Golczewski weaves. New York-based Kleen Kut’s rare “Running Out of Time” is a dark, disembodied rocker with phantasmal melodies unfurling from ancient truths. It carries propulsive, raw energy that codifies the sentiments of the film into a guitar-driven, minor-key strut of otherworldly enchantment. Even after the last note fades, we are still here for another spin.

Released in 2009, Rob Zombie’s Halloween II is an American slasher film written, directed, and produced by Rob Zombie. The film is a sequel to Zombie’s 2007 reimagining of 1978’s Halloween and the tenth installment in the Halloween franchise starring Tyler Mane as Michael Myers, Malcolm McDowell as Dr. Sam Loomis, Sheri Moon Zombie, Scout Taylor-Compton, and Brad Douriff. The film picks up where the 2007 film ended and then jumping ahead one year. Halloween II follows Laurie Strode as she deals with the aftermath of the previous film’s events, Dr. Loomis trying to capitalize on those events by publishing a book that chronicles the events, and Michael Myers as he continues his search for Laurie so he can reunite with his sister.

“Gladiator” is the original soundtrack of the 2000 film of the same name. The original score and songs were composed by Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard and were released in 2000, titled “Gladiator: Music From the Motion Picture”. The Lyndhurst Orchestra performing the score was conducted by Gavin Greenaway.

The album won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score and was also nominated for the Academy Award and BAFTA Award for Best Score ("Anthony Asquith Award for Film Music").

“Gladiator” is a 2000 epic historical drama film directed by Ridley Scott and written by David Franzoni, John Logan, and William Nicholson. It stars Russell Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix, Connie Nielsen, Ralf Möller, Oliver Reed (in his final role), Djimon Hounsou, Derek Jacobi, John Shrapnel, and Richard Harris. Crowe portrays Hispano-Roman general Maximus Decimus Meridius, who is betrayed when Commodus, the ambitious son of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, murders his father and seizes the throne. Reduced to slavery, Maximus rises through the ranks of the gladiatorial arena to avenge the murders of his family and his emperor.

The film was released in the United States May , 2000, and grossed $457 million worldwide. The film won multiple awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Crowe and three other Oscars at the 73rd Academy Awards. It has also been credited with rekindling interest in entertainment centered around ancient Greek and Roman culture, such as Rome.
