Bollywood rarities handpicked and remastered on a double LP release with laminate gatefold and multi-layered flower petal foldout. Featuring rare, overlooked or not-previously-on-vinyl music from Bappi Lahiri, R. D. Burman, Ilaiyaraaja, Kalyanji-Anandji, Anand Milind, Raamlaxman and Kirti Anuraag released between 1982 and 1986. Mastered for and cut to vinyl by multi Grammynominated Frank Merritt at his mastering studio The Carvery. Naya Beat is incredibly proud to present the first in our series of ‘Awaaz’ (‘sound’ in Hindi) archival projects focused on uncovering the sounds of 1980s Bollywood Original Soundtrack Recordings (OSTs). Series 1 focuses exclusively on the musical output of CBS Gramophone Records & Tapes (India) Ltd. Active during India’s peak disco era – a time when synthesisers and drum machines became a mainstay in Indian popular music – CBS India became a home for established composers to be experimental, up-and-coming composers to get their start, B-movie soundtracks, and straight-to-VHS releases. Expertly curated by Naya Beat co-founders Turbotito and Ragz, who were given unprecedented access to the original label archives, this compilation is not just a collection of four-to-the-floor Bollywood disco (although there are plenty of those). ‘Awaaz’ is designed to take listeners on a musical journey that includes everything from leftfield electronic and mood music to outrageous proto house. Be it classic and hard to find cuts like Ilaiyaraaja's "Aye Zindagi Gale Lagaa Le" and “Mere Jaisi Mehbooba” (Bappi Lahiri’s Hindi remake of Herbie Hancock's “Rockit”), or the instrumental mood music of Kirti Anuraag’s VHS movie soundtracks, to the proto house of Raamlaxman’s “Dil Gadbad Jhala” and Kalyanji-Anandji’s “Aage Bhi Dushman,” or the synth and guitar drenched breakdance madness of R. D. Burman’s “Dekho Idhar Jano Jigar,” the music on this compilation captures the output of a label that was unique as it was unconventional. An homage to the genre, every detail in this stunning release has been lovingly crafted. From the laminate cover to the absolutely incredible foldout, to the cut-out and collage design, to the font type and layout, there are countless authentic details and nods to classic Bollywood releases of the era. As much of the album has been made in India as is possible. The sleeves have been handmade in New Delhi. The liner notes have been compiled by music archivist Nishant Mittal (aka Digging In India).

While vacationing at a remote cabin, a young girl and her parents are taken hostage by four armed strangers who demand that the family make an unthinkable choice to avert the apocalypse. With limited access to the outside world, the family must decide what they believe before all is lost. Herdís Stefánsdóttir is a composer of music for multimedia, a songwriter, and an electronic musician. Her compositional endeavors—installations in museums, dance, theater, and a successful electronic music duet she is a part of–are establishing her as an expansive artist. Herdís Stefánsdóttir graduated with an M.A. degree in film scoring from New York University in 2017. Since graduation she has scored three feature films, the most recent one is M. Night Shyamalan’s Knock at The Cabin. She won the 2022 Icelandic Music Award for her score to the FX series Y: the Last Man and was also nominated for her score in Ry Russo-Young’s MGM/Warner Bros. feature film The Sun Is Also a Star and the HBO series We’re Here. Other scoring work includes Apple TV+’s Essex Serpent, co-scored with Dustin O’Halloran, starring Claire Daines and Tom Hiddleston. Herdís interned for the Oscar nominated composer Jóhann Jóhannssonin Berlin while he was working on the film Arrival (2016) and she has scored numerous short films that have premiered at top-tier festivals around the world like Berlinale, Tiff, Sundance and Palm Springs International Film Festival. Herdís releases and produces her solo work under artist name Kongulo, she is currently working on her first record. Previous art projects include electro-pop duo East of My Youth. East of My Youth’s music has been described as sensual and addictive as getting your tongue frozen to a glacier of pure honey (jajajamusic). The duo has showcased at Sxsw, Eurosonic Noorderslag, Kexp, Sonar Reykjavík and Iceland Airwaves. After 2 years of absence from our catalogue we are glad to reveal we are close to release a new edition of Fabio Frizzi’s fans most beloved horror score, Zombi 2, with the American title of Zombie Flesh Eaters, a project we are developing since five years! Since ever paired with Un gatto nel cervello, now finally alone in a version that is gifted with unreleased material which was recorded in a tape found in an old Ribot archive. One of the holy grails in our catalogue, since ever bitterly loved, because of its shortness: even if the older version featured a good portion of the score, it was largely incomplete. With the addition of the material transferred from this extra tape, and with the song There’s no matter, which can be heard at the beginning of the movie, when the two protagonists investigate the sequestered ship, we can attest this is the definitive edition of this outstanding soundtrack which marks a significant style evolution of the Maestro, aside the growth of his artistic relationship with Lucio Fulci. In this edition we offer the score on CD in a deluxe hardpaper box with the insane artwork by Graham Humphreys, both on the box and on the 40 pages book inside, slim jewelcase with a maxi inlay featuring the iconic photographic poster of the time and a crazy black and white artwork by Alexandros Pyromallis. This irresistible new selection tells the story from 1968 to 1985 of a prolific label that sometimes produced ten albums a year, and which delighted many French and foreign film directors who, to 'flavour' their films, drew on this sumptuous catalogue. In this volume 3 Tele Music, we have highlighted legendary artists who have left an indelible mark on the history of the music bookshop and on the history of music in general: • Janko Nilovic (also known as Yanko Nilovic, Anady Loore, E. CBE, the Chatelain, Bisson and Estardy studio is located in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. Still in operation and run by Julie Estardy, it has been receiving major artists for over half a century. It is a place of reference. At the time: Johnny Hallyday, Claude François, Sheila, Carlos, Françoise Hardy, Nino Ferrer recorded their hits there. Now it's the turn of Sebastien Tellier, Bertrand Burgalat, Keziah Jones, Tony Allen, Jeff Miles to name but a few. CBE and its giant Bernard Estardy put Tele Music in the best conditions to produce an atypical and powerful sound. Bernard Estardy had a custom- built mixing console built by his German friend Gunther Loof, offering the perfect tool for recording 4 and then 32-track Arp 2000, Moog, Korg, Prophet synthesizers and all acoustic instruments. The field of experi- mentation was limitless. Until now, the titles of this collection were only available in vinyl format, via rare and expensive prints that collectors sell for a high price on dedicated websites. Released in 2009, Rob Zombie’s Halloween II is an American slasher film written, directed, and produced by Rob Zombie. The film is a sequel to Zombie’s 2007 reimagining of 1978’s Halloween and the tenth installment in the Halloween franchise starring Tyler Mane as Michael Myers, Malcolm McDowell as Dr. Sam Loomis, Sheri Moon Zombie, Scout Taylor-Compton, and Brad Douriff. The film picks up where the 2007 film ended and then jumping ahead one year. Halloween II follows Laurie Strode as she deals with the aftermath of the previous film’s events, Dr. Loomis trying to capitalize on those events by publishing a book that chronicles the events, and Michael Myers as he continues his search for Laurie so he can reunite with his sister.

Digitmovies is proud to release on LP the OST by Ennio Morricone: "Noi lazzaroni" (aka "We Rascals”). Ennio Morricone has composed a very "rural" score with the sounds, that represent the life of the protagonist. Although integrated within modern society, the soul of this man is always directed to his past, to his land, to the teachings of his father which he could never leave behind. This adherence to the homeland is expressed through deliberately wild and almost enraged vocal performances of Edda Dell'Orso. Ennio Morricone has composed music which reflects the bucolic atmosphere of this tale through a series of archaically flavoured themes played by instruments like recorder and mandolin. Among the recurrent themes there are a mysterious motif, dramatic music for dissonant strings and a lounge theme with the typical Morricone sound. The main theme is reprised for recorder and guitar and there is Baroque music for the puppet theater played by woodwinds and percussions. Our LP contains two bonus tracks, unreleased alternate takes of the original album versions which will surely be quite attractive for fans and scholars of the music of Ennio Morricone. Rend is the official soundtrack to the debut game from Frostkeep Studios. Rend is a team-based survival game set in the fabled universe of Nordic myth. This epic fantasy world is a harsh domain where the strong ascend as gods.

Building the musical identity of the world from the ground up was a daunting task but I found inspiration in unexpected places. As the players start out in the afterlife with nothing and have to craft survival tools with the elements around them I found myself reaching for older and less refined sounding instruments like the Hardanger fiddle, Hurdy Gurdy, Viola Da Gamba and Nyckelharpa. The resonant qualities of these instruments gave the feeling of ancient machines built out of wood and string.

My favorite part about working on this soundtrack was getting to collaborate with Einar Selvik of the Norwegian folk band Wardruna. Einar not only provided some incredibly powerful vocals for a few of the songs but also set them to old Norse poetry. I had the privilege of working with quite a few incredible soloists on Rend, most if not all of whom had never worked on a video game score (at least not when I originally recorded them a couple years ago).

Over the two or so years I worked on this score the scope changed quite a bit. While the initial focus had been smaller, more crude sounding pieces, the world of the game continued to grow into a lush, beautiful and quite varied landscape. This led to the idea of adding the City of Prague Philharmonic as well as more celtic influenced instruments and Bulgarian choir. In the end this score isn't about one place or one cultural influence. It borrows from cultures around the world and gives them an otherworldly setting.

Rend is a very special score for me. One that gave me the opportunity to experiment in ways I hadn't before and to work with some really amazing musicians. I hope you enjoy this soundtrack and let it take you on a journey through the worlds of your imagination.

Berto Pisano composed and conducted an OST with a lounge beat and evocative orchestral themes using the wonderfully sexy voice of Edda Dell'Orso, which evoke the sensual / erotic relationship between the adult man and the teen desperate for strong emotions. The main themes are reprised with piano only. The atmosphere of apparent relaxation in the hotel in Ischia is created with pop themes written for Hammond organ and rhythm section. There is also a version with bass flute and a faster version in Bossa tempo. The master tape in stereo of a rare promotional soundtrack album was found in the RCA archives. It was released in 1974 under the label Pegaso and contains almost all the recorded music from the film.

Stelvio Cipriani and his unmistakable style accompany the adventures of the fearless policeman in this soundtrack, with alternating action themes and romantic motifs. In the opening credits, a rhythmic motif with electric guitars and percussion is peacefully introduced by a synthesizer and bells, which is then reprised at the end of the film. He also includes danceable disco themes, Bossa lounge music, music for Brigitte’s striptease in the nightclub and music for the chases. The sad and romantic side of the story is given intense passages with strings that reveal once again the great melodic side of the composer. For this LP, we were able to use the stereo master tapes of the recording session.

Luciano Michelini created symphonic background music that alternates romanticism with drama and mystery. Our LP opens with the theme of the opening credits, a dark motif produced by strings, percussion and piano which is reprised later in the film. A second recurring motif is a love theme that is introduced in a slow, romantic version with a modern arrangement that alternates with a fast, extravagant march. Initially only the mono mixed tapes were found, but further research into the RCA archives brought to light the stereophonic tape of a previously unreleased LP montage.

In conjunction with The Criterion Collection’s special-edition DVD and Blu-ray release of David Byrne’s 1986 film True Stories, Nonesuch and Todomundo Records release a comprehensive soundtrack, collected for the first time in one package and in film sequence: True Stories, A Film by David Byrne: The Complete Soundtrack. David Byrne was inspired by tabloid headlines to make his sole foray into feature-film directing, an ode to the extraordinariness of ordinary American life and a distillation of what was in his own idiosyncratic mind. Byrne plays a visitor to Virgil, Texas, who introduces us to the citizens of the town during preparations for its Celebration of Specialness. As shot by cinematographer Ed Lachman, Texas becomes a hyper-realistic late-capitalist landscape of endless vistas, shopping malls, and prefab metal buildings. In True Stories, Byrne uses his songs to stitch together pop iconography, voodoo rituals, and a singular variety show. Byrne calls the record “an immersive audio voyage into the little town of Virgil, Texas, in the mid-eighties.” He continues, “I always imagined that the music written for True Stories should be heard as it is in the film. It makes the most sense this way. Me singing the song that was written for John Goodman’s character, Louis Fine, always felt weird to me. It was written for that character, not for me.”

50 years ago, Franco and Luciana De Gemini had recently moved to Rome, both looking for their place in the world. He a talented musician, she a beautiful young bride, they lived in a small penthouse with a huge terrace full of flowers and views that spanned Rome, from the dome of St. Peter to the Altar of the Fatherland to the Castelli Romani: over 40 kilometers of the Eternal City. Through his collaborations with many great maestros of the period and his involvement with the orchestras, Franco got to know many people including Fulvio Corradini and Benito Costa (the former an administrator of prestigious record catalogs, the second a trusted friend). In fact, they had already caught wind of a small record label called Beat Records Company, founded on May 12, 1966, but the two had no time to devote to the endeavor so they trusted its administration to Franco De Gemini by actively involving him as a partner. It was on March 23, 1968, that they set foot in that office on Viale Medaglie D'oro. Beat had published 58 tracks, had 16,500 Liras in cash and a tax fine of 140,000 liras for failure to report. That was the day that Franco and Luciana began their adventure, which would last for him until July 20, 2013, and for her until March 3, 2016. It was an Intense fifty years, always with one foot on an airplane, in a smoke-filled recording studio, in front of a Moviola viewing the scrolling images of film or around a table with incredible characters, to talk, create music and art, or simply to enjoy life. That little two-year-old son that was once picked up and held by Franco and Luciana is now a man of 50, a man with whom generations of film and music fans have been able to cultivate their passions, served and revered by the tireless work of this incredible couple. Having reached this important landmark in time, with over half a century of history behind us, we decided to revive five significant favorites from our musical catalog and replicate them in their original format, a tribute to our past and yours. The fifth appointment of this revival is with one of our scores unreleased on vinyl, Alla Ricerca DEL Piacere by Teo Usuelli, a score we love deeply for a movie featuring the divine Barbara Bouchet, a beautiful icon beloved on both sides of the ocean. The music--iconic as well, and among the most appreciated in our catalog--has been included on Beat at Cinecittà albums and used by the Cohen bros., who included Piacere Sequence M36 in The Big Lebowsky. "The question posed initially when conceiving of this score was what exactly is the sonic representation of a cosmic alien color that does not exist in this terrestrial reality? I began trying to answer that by layering the sounds of coral reefs, processing that cacophony and finding the order revealed through harmonic generation of these hyperdensities, and then continued to chase that same concept of 'transfiguring the natural' down every path and application I could see. Turns out it's somewhere between magenta and hot pink :)"

Directed by Elizabeth Banks and inspired by the 1985 true story of a drug runner's plane crash, missing cocaine, and the black bear that ate it, this wild dark comedy finds an oddball group of cops, criminals, tourists and teens converging in a Georgia forest where a 500- pound apex predator has ingested a staggering amount of cocaine and gone on a coke-fueled rampage for more blow … and blood.

About the composer:

Mark Mothersbaugh is a Grammy, Bafta, and Emmy nominated composer, producer, designer, and visual artist whose work has become part of the pop culture consciousness. He started his career as co-creator and front man for the seminal New Wave band Devo. Their Brian Eno/David Bowie-produced debut album “Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo” was certified Gold before their hit album “Freedom of Choice” went Platinum.

For Cocaine Bear, Mothersbaugh wanted a score that reflected and captured the culture of the ’80s, with a personality that evolved as the decade’s music evolved. “At the beginning of the film, it starts out very pop,” Mothersbaugh says. “But as it goes through it, it gets heavier. The guitars change up from being acoustic and lighter to being distorted and more aggressive and there are synths throughout that provide a pulse that keeps things moving.”

To make it as authentic as possible, Mothersbaugh used the instruments that created some of the most distinctive and memorable sounds of the ’80s music scene. “Once we decided we were going to let it soak a bit in an ’80s sound, I went to the warehouse where I store equipment and my old Devo road cases full of synths,” Mothersbaugh says. “I pulled out old synths that we used on albums in the ’80s and used the same synths and a lot of the same amps and foot pedals.”

For this LP we used the original tapes in full stereo that were preserved in the RCA archives. Nico Fidenco composed a pleasant soundtrack with a pastoral flair which is dominated by the main theme, a romantic ballad we hear in a faster and slower vocal version. It is then reprised with different instruments: cheerful and rhythmic flute, harmonica and orchestra, harmonica and strings with a touch of country, harpsichord, and classic guitar.

For this OST, Carlo Savina composed lounge background music, at times dominated by a mysterious Asian vibe and by sophisticated jazzy vibes. "Gold Snake", the main score, is interpreted by the fabulous voice of Iva Zanicchi, written for a symphony orchestra, and accompanied by the New Orlandi choir (the piece was recorded on 45 RIFI RFN NP 16141). The leitmotif is reprised in a shake version and a slow danceable version. The well-known actress Yoko Tani, the film’s protagonist, performs the romantic piece "Crazy", which is also recorded in an instrumental version. The spy aspect of the plot is emphasized by suspense and action music. For this LP the mono master tapes of the recording session were used.

There was so much happening visually in the Wachowski Brothers' instant sci-fi classic The Matrix that it was easy to overlook Don Davis' score. It is true that Davis' music is the most conventional element of the film, often following familiar action film patterns, but that's not to say that it's predictable. There are long quiet stretches that are quite eerie, even without the film to support the music, and he employs dissonance and quick, powerful staccatos quite effectively. And when he turns to grand, sweeping themes, such as on the closing "Anything Is Possible," it's hard not get caught up in the momentum of the piece. It still works better with the film, but The Matrix is the rare score that is nearly as effective as a stand-alone work as it is in the film. - allmusic.com

For the first time in The Witcher series, actress Freya Allan who plays Ciri, is also featured on the soundtrack for her song “A Little Sacrifice.” Other songs on the vinyl include “Extraordinary Things,” “All Is Not As It Seems,” “Enchanted Flowers” and “The Ride of the Witcher.”

This vinyl only features highlights of the soundtrack not the full digital soundtrack tracklist. However, the tracklist includes 1 bonus track that will only be available on this vinyl.

The vinyl package includes 2x double-sided black vinyl in a gatefold with printed sleeves and an insert featuring song lyrics, liner notes and artwork from the show. The English is Federico Jusid's sweeping, nostalgic and raw score to Hugo Blick's six part contemporary Western. Giving a nod to 1950s western soundtracks, the score is enriched by Dvořák’s String Quartet No. 12. known as the "American", written during Dvořák’s stay in America, and only three years after the events of the series.

Also featured on the album are the beautiful folk songs by The Wailin' Jennys, Melanie, Crooked Still, Ora Cogan and Tom McRae. The second track on the album, Tâtačiksta_ - I Cherish You, features a tender reading by Emily Blunt.

Jusid’s music structure is based on leitmotifs, very simple and symmetric, constantly varied and developed to mirror the protagonists’ journeys. Big orchestral sounds underpin epic and romantic themes. Sound design, processed percussion and ethnic instruments effortlessly blend in with the orchestral material.

The influence is immediately clear, with respect to both Turner’s guitar work and vocals. Some have even mistaken his only album for a "lost" Hendrix recording, and it’s hard to blame them. Velvert Turner Group’s self-titled 1972 release, which aptly closes with a tribute to Hendrix (a cover of “Freedom”), has been out of print for decades. We are thrilled to be releasing the score to A Quiet Place in conjunction with our friends over at Milan Records. The film has been one of the breakout hits of 2018. This is only the second directorial feature for John Krasinski and is an absolutely incredibly tense monster movie, that is as original as it is scary.

The score by Marco Beltrami is an absolute tour de force, it's basically another character in the film, it can be forceful and bludgeoning one minute and quiet and reflective the next. His players twist their instruments to generate tones and textures not usually associated with them, the layers of sound and percussion on display are incredible, the opening track 'It Hears You' reminds me of a classic Planet Of The Apes cue it's disquieting and slightly wonky but has an incredible hook that immediately lets you know you are in horror territory whereas say 'A Quiet Family' is a beautiful piano track that reminds you of the life the family lived before a world of monsters took over. Pianos are detuned, Electronics are layered over traditional instruments to create something truly unsettling
