Following our releases of Bianco Rosso e Verdone and Sono pazzo di Iris Blond OSTs, we are glad to announce a new tribute to the music for the great cinema of Carlo Verdone with the release on vinyl of the original motion picture soundtrack of Acqua e sapone, composed by Maestro Fabio Liberatori, the artist who features the greatest number of collaborations with the Roman director. Shot in 1983 it's the story of Rolando Ferrazza (Verdone) who, stolen the identity of Father Spinelli, finds a job as private teacher for Sandy Wash (Natasha Hovey), a young teen-ager model with whom he will soon fall in love. The story will come to a bitter-sweet conclusion, in the typical style of its director, for sure more bitter than sweet, with the unavoidable separation of the two lovers and the return to normal life, now permanently marked by the experience. A movie that, like many others shot by Verdone, was a landmark of an era, portrayed through the humanity of it protagonists, their forbidden dreams, great delusions and tragic daily life, everything narrated through a biting poetic style and delicate irony in a guise that made Verdone's cinema a unique genre. The wonderful music by Fabio Liberatori, previously partially available through a compilation dedicated to his soundtracks, now finally released for the first time in a complete edition dedicated to this score with a great electronic frame, a sound that the musician skillfully masters chiseling a series of moods throughout the story. A soundtrack which deserved since too many time a full edition, at the dawn of its 40th year of age, now available in this deluxe release, featuring a 180 grams colored vinyl with the wonderful original artwork by Renato Casaro on the cover, with the two protagonists' faces. This release has been possible through the collaboration with Cecchi Gori which gave access to Maestro Fabio Liberatori' score, remastered under his supervision by Gianrico La Rosa, and with Sony Music Italy which authorized us to add STADIO's songs, "Acqua e Sapone" and "C'é", which could not be missing from a tribute to this movie. Editing by Claudio Fuiano, graphic layout by Daniele De Gemini, limited edition to 500 copies.

The film had the distinction of being the first film in the series with creator John Carpenter's direct involvement since 1982's Halloween III: Season of the Witch. Carpenter served as an executive producer, a creative consultant, and, thrillingly, as a soundtrack composer, alongside his collaborators from his recent solo albums, Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies. Now the scream team is back for the highly anticipated follow up, Halloween Kills and Carpenter has returned to the studio with son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies to further expand on the iconic score that forever changed the course of horror cinema and synthesizer music. The 2018 Halloween movie soundtrack received unanimous praise and brought a rich and ominous depth to the original theme music that was famously recorded on a shoestring budget in 1978. The trio utilized an array of software synths, vintage analogue equipment, and live instrumentation including a Dave Smith Ob-6, bowed guitar, Roland Juno, Moog, Roland System 1, Roland System 8, different guitar pedals, mellotron, and piano. Now with the Halloween Kills score director Green has pushed the musicians to be more experimental and take their modern sound to a chilling new level.

The Dead Don't Die is writer/director Jim Jarmusch's unique, semi-comic take on the zombie apocalypse genre. As with his recent efforts Only Lovers Left Alive and Paterson, the film's score was composed and performed by SQÜRL, the band Jarmusch and producer Carter Logan founded in 2009. Sacred Bones Records, the same label that released the band's EP #260 in 2017, is releasing the LP edition of the score.The score to the The Dead Don't Die is a true expression of where SQÜRL stand at the center of a decade of sonic exploration. It is the culmination of their passion for analog synths, with guitar violence reverberating from the darker corners of Americana. It is at once a tribute to the classic sounds of horror and sci-fi, as well as a decapitation of traditional film scores. It is naturally supernatural.From their arsenal of tools, Jarmusch and Logan pulled electric guitars and basses made by Rick Kelly and Cindy Hulej at Carmine Street Guitars, an acoustic resonator, Moog Minitaur and Theremini synthesizers, Fender Rhodes electric piano, an old Ludwig drum kit, cheap vintage Casio and Yamaha keyboards and new synths from Critter and Guitari _ all sculpted through a collection of effects pedals, notably from Earthquaker Devices.The inspiration for SQÜRL's score for The Dead Don't Die came from some of the most iconic soundtracks of the past half-century of genre cinema _ Tangerine Dream's Sorcerer, Bebe and Louis Barron's Forbidden Planet, Ennio Morricone's The Thing and Once Upon a Time in the West, Goblin's Dawn of the Dead, and all things John Carpenter. The singular Theremin work of Samuel J. Hoffman on films like Spellbound and The Day the Earth Stood Still also made its way into Jarmusch and Logan's consciousness. The result is a new horror soundtrack that stands shoulder to shoulder with the great works of its genre.

Shigeru Umebayashi is an internationally renowned composer who is best known for creating ‘Yumeji’s Theme’ for Wong Karwai’s film In The Mood For Love.
In addition to collaborating with Wong Kar-Wai on 2046, Umebayashi was the music producer and composer for Zhang Yimou’s films House Of Flying Daggers and Curse Of The Golden Flower.

This is an updated version of Film Fest Ghent’s 2010 tribute to the composer’s work which featured his most celebrated music.

As one of the most triumphant and beguiling directorial debut features to emerge from the fruitful Polish New Wave, Andrzej Żuławski’s 1971 film Third Part Of The Night not only earned the thirtyyear- old filmmaker a place next to other radical Polish directors such as Polanski, Skolimowski and Has, but also galvanised a creative bond with long running collaborator and composer Andrzej Korzyński, providing fans of foreign abstract/suspense cinema with a potent creative fusion to match those of Polanski/Komeda, Fellini/Rota, Argento/Goblin…

Featuring one of the heaviest psych rock movie theme tunes of all time, Andrzej Korzyński’s short and unreleased score matched the blueprint that adorned the drawing boards of conceptual French jazz orch rock composers like Jean-Claude Vannier, François de Roubaix and Alain Goraguer, creating a soundtrack that unknowingly begs comparison to Masahiko Satô’s Belladonna of Sadness and Billy Green’s Stone. As one of the first progressive pop writers to come out of the vibrant (but carefully scrutinised) Polish beat scene with his bands Ricecar 64 and later Arp Life (and composing for national heroes such as Czesław Niemen, Niebiesko-Czarni and Test) Korzyński’s growing passion for conceptual rock and jazz music soon led to instrumental composition and soundtrack scores. His cinematic debuts scoring two consecutive transitional new wave films for Andrzej Wajda (in collaboration with the radical Polski pop groups Trubadurzy and Grupa Abc) also provided Korzyński with another significant cinematic muse in that of the stunning actress Małgorzata Braunek, with whom they would both eventually achieve their finest performances under the direction of the ravenous first timer Żuławski. Third Part Of The Night (1971) perhaps epitomises that triangular on-screen unison in its vibrant youth and feeds it through a hallucinogenic mangle finding astonishing beauty (within a repulsive synopsis) against a bleak and shattered backdrop and accompanied by progressive, psychedelic orchestral rock music – elements which would intensify for all three creatives with the next film Diabeł, which was banned by the Polish government the following year until 1988. Third Part Of The Night also marks the public unison of Żuławski and Braunek whose later private romantic relationship is said to form the basis for another defining Żuławski/Korzyński endeavour with the 1981 film Possession exactly a decade later, encapsulating a period that bequeaths a previously unopened vault of some of the the composers finest and most inspired sonic adventures.

Franco Micalizzi wrote one of his best OSTs for the Poliziesco genre with this one (the main theme is one of Micalizzi’s favorites and he often performs it live in concert with his orchestra BIG Bubbling Band). The OST opens with the strong main score written for woodwinds and percussion, which is then reprised with different arrangements throughout the film. It is also alternated with moments of suspense. The violent urban jungle atmosphere is broken by "Sambamba", a sunny pop piece with a Latin sound written for choir and orchestra. For this LP, the master tapes of the recording session were used.

Thom Yorke’s Suspiria (Music for the Luca Guadagnino Film) is released on XL Recordings. Suspiria consists of 25 original compositions written by Thom specifically for Luca Guadagnino reimagining of the 1977 Dario Argento horror classic. The album is a mix of instrumental score work, interstitial pieces and interludes, and more traditional song structures featuring Thom’s vocals such as Unmade, Has Ended and Suspirium, the album's first single featuring the melodic theme that recurs throughout the film and its score.

As scoring a horror film presented Thom with altogether new challenges and opportunities, Suspiria stands apart from any of his other work. Piano / vocal ballads, Krautrock-esque modular synth work inspired by the film’s Berlin 1977 setting, multilayered vocals, and melodies that convey terror, longing and melancholy combine to create a chaotic yet cohesive musical spell.

Suspiria was written and arranged by Thom Yorke, recorded and produced by Thom and Sam Petts-Davies. The album also features the London Contemporary Orchestra and Choir, Noah Yorke on drums on Has Ended and Volk, and Pasha Mansurov on solo flute on Suspirium.

Digitmovies releases Guido & Maurizio De Angelis’ “Torso” (aka “I corpi presentano tracce di violenza carnale”) OST on LP. THE Soundtrack In 1973 a 26 minutes-long stereo LP was prepared for RCS’s promo SP series, but it got cancelled and the 45 rpm didn’t see the light, neither. In 1999 BMG printed out a CD (ost 145) with the editing found in RCA’s archives and paired it with a selection from Bruno Nicolai’s “Gatti rossi in un labirinto di vetro” OST. Back in 2008, when we printed the full 33 tracks-long CD version, we mistakenly wrote “stereo” on the cover, but the music actually came from the mono session recorded for the movie. When Dagored printed a double LP (red219c), in 2015, they used our mono CD as source. This LP version (running time 37:20 minutes), carries nine stereo tracks on side A and the first two stereo tracks and the following six mono track on side B. Guido & Maurizio De Angelis composed an OST which was perfect for the scenes but which also has its own life outside of the movie, where a quite cheerful and pop main theme alternates with mysterious and suspended ones, at times with dark and frightening voices. An OST for a cult movie, loved by fans all over the world.

Richter’s approach explores the feelings of the protagonist’s family, the Garveys, through intimate, small scale music. He tackles this psychological landscape by bringing a ritual quality to the score, while themes of departure and loss are represented by a sense of sonic decay, relying on the instrumentation of a few sustained tones on pianos, harps and celesta. Max Richter is a classically trained composer that defies boundaries. Trained at the Royal Academy of Music and finishing his studies under the tutelage of avant-garde composer Luciano Berio in Florence, Richter’s career has followed many paths. Bullet Train is the 2022 American action-comedy film by the Deadpool 2-director David Leitch and is based on the 2010 novel Maria Beetle, written by Kōtarō Isaka. In Bullet Train, Brad Pitt stars as Ladybug, an unlucky assassin determined to do his job peacefully after one too many gigs gone off the rails. Fate, however, may have other plans, as Ladybug's latest mission puts him on a collision course with lethal adversaries from around the globe – all with connected, yet conflicting, objectives – on the world's fastest train...and he's got to figure out how to get off.

The film features a number of original tracks. Most notably, the film contains Japanese language covers of "Stayin' Alive" by Bee Gees and "Holding Out for a Hero" by Bonnie Tyler. Composer Dominic Lewis noted that the film's soundtrack represents "all vibe and no technique".

The soundtrack for Bullet Train is available on vinyl and comes in different editions, all based on the characters in the movie. All editions include a 4-page booklet, but each edition contains an exclusive Bullet Train boarding pass with corresponding picture of the character. This is the limited "White Death" edition on white coloured vinyl.

Baton Rouge sludge band Thou have released over a dozen LPs worth of music, collaborated with divergent artists like Emma Ruth Rundle and The Body and released covers that run the full gamut of genres. Out of print for over 35 years, the official soundtrack to the cult 1984 film by Neil Jordan is finally available once again on vinyl format. The surreal and effective film - a true gem of British Gothic fantasy horror - has an equally atmospheric, breathtakingly beautiful, surreal and unsettling soundtrack, scored by George Fenton. The film itself, directed by Neil Jordan (The Crying Game, Breakfast On Pluto), and based on the screenplay by Angela Carter and Neil Jordan, is a modern allegorical adaptation of the classic Grimm fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood, symbolising sexual awakening, duality and liberation. The stellar cast features Sarah Patterson, Angela Lansbury, Stephen Rea, David Warner, and Danielle Dax. "There is a sense of awe and enchanted wonder captured in its fairy tale sound, swooping with cascading violins and dark mysterious undercurrents that bubble below the surface... The score flows effortlessly between its light and dark moments. Most importantly, moments of beauty are not lost to the sense of suspense and drama. Indeed, light always needs its companion of shadow, as the film suggests in the sexual awakening of the pure untainted innocence that is Rosaleen. To a large extent the scoring in this area is conventional, perhaps a little impressionistic and hopefully reflects a curious but endearing world. This left me free to invent sounds for the stories within the dream world. I wanted to use a mixture of electronics and 'live' instruments, and after some experimenting, arrived at a line-up of three bass flutes, Pan Pipes, violins, one, two or three solo double basses, percussion and Synclavier II synthesizer" (George Fenton, 1984).
