Waxwork Records is excited to release Curtains Original Motion Picture Score by Paul Zaza. Curtains is a 1983 Canadian slasher-horror movie that tells the story of six actors competing for a role to die for. They are lured to director Jonathan Stryker’s (John Vernon - Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Dirty Harry, Heavy Metal) home during a snowstorm to compete for the role of 'Audra' where they are met with manipulation, predacious men, and a murderous masked hag. Prepared to fight for the role, these women were not expecting to fight for their lives!

The score for Curtains threatens brutality with menacing strings following the women throughout the film, as they are stalked and preyed on by a masked murderer and their doll companion. Paul Zaza, who brought us fan favorites like My Bloody Valentine and Prom Night, delivers again with Curtains!

Waxwork Records is proud to release Lost Highway Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. In celebration of the film’s 25th Anniversary, the prodigious soundtrack produced by Trent Reznor and David Lynch is available via Waxwork on Friday, May 20th as a deluxe double LP featuring re-mastered audio, new design, 150 gram colored vinyl, high quality packaging, and more.

Released in 1997, Lost Highway is a neo-noir film co-written and directed by David Lynch and stars Bill Pullman, Patricia Arquette, Balthazar Getty, and Robert Blake. The film’s surreal narrative follows a musician who begins receiving mysterious VHS tapes of him and his wife in their home, and who is suddenly convicted of murder, after which he inexplicably disappears and is replaced by a young mechanic leading a different life. Director David Lynch has described it as “psychogenic fugue” rather than a conventionally logical story.

The film’s soundtrack features an original score by Angelo Badalamenti (Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive) and Barry Adamson, as well as songs by artists such as David Bowie, Trent Reznor, Nine Inch Nails, The Smashing Pumpkins, Lou Reed, Marilyn Manson, and Rammstein. In New Orleans, Lynch collaborated with musician Trent Reznor. Two songs by Reznor and Nine Inch Nails, “The Perfect Drug” and “Driver Down”, were specifically composed for the film. Reznor then produced the soundtrack album. The album reached No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and reached Gold status in the United States.

Released in 1991 as the highly anticipated sequel to 1990’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, THE SECRET OF THE OOZE follows the adventures of four Turtles: Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, Raphael, and their Master Splinter. Resuming from the events of the first film, The Shredder returns to take back command of the Foot Clan and work towards getting revenge on the Turtles. The Primevals belongs to a different time, a different place, an imagined world of monsters, myth and magic that has only ever existed within the confines of classic fantasy cinema. Even if its chief architect, David Allen, had lived and the film had been released in the 1990s, it would have still been out of synch with the zeitgeist. Fifty years ago, filmmaker David Allen registered the story for the film that would become The Primevals. His goal was to elevate the art of stop-motion animation into more serious, thoughtful storytelling. In the mid-1960s, the film had started as an homage to Edgar Rice Burroughs, reminiscent of the fantasy films by Ray Harryhausen that had impressed David as a child. He sadly died in 1999 and the task of completing the film fell to his visual effects colleague Chris Endicott. Award winning and Emmy nominated composer Richard Band is primarily known as a composer for Horror and Genre films. He was recently awarded the Mosma Film Music Festival’s “life Achievement Award” and the subsequent two nights of concerts in Malaga, Spain included an encore in which The Primevals main title for full orchestra had its live premiere. The music represents a glorious hark back to the classic scores that fuelled so many of the Harryhausen films of the 1950s and 1960s. A delirious thrill-ride through the joys of monsters, ray-guns, spaceships and good old-fashioned stop motion animation.

Quartet Records was proud to celebrate the tenth anniversary of J.A. Bayona’s horror cult-classic The Orphanage in 2017 with a newly recorded, complete edition of the score composed by Fernando Velázquez , The Orphanage was the first collaboration between director and composer, a partnership that has continued in such modern classics as The Impossible and A Monster Calls. Now this new recording is available in an exclusive, limited and numbered collectors’ vinyl release.

It may seem unusual that a barely ten-year-old score is being re-recorded, but giving The Orphanage a second chance to shine is an undertaking of which Quartet Records is especially proud. This tenth-anniversary edition includes every note Fernando Velázquez wrote for the film in its original conception to give fans a bold, new take on a modern classic. The original soundtrack album was negotiated and signed off before the recordings were made, and while Fernando wasn’t quite satisfied with the performance, the album had to be released nonetheless. It was a problematic recording, without much possibility of correcting mistakes (do not forget that The Orphanage was a low-budget film). When the possibility of expanding the original 47-minute-long program was being discussed in early 2017, a review of the original multi-track recordings revealed that time hasn’t been kind to Velázquez’s first major score, so a new plan was formulated. The composer took it upon himself to revisit the project by doing a brand-new recording with The Basque National Orchestra, the same ensemble he used for A Monster Calls, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Submergence and his “Concert Suites” album. By using one of his favorite orchestras and his usual recording engineer, Marc Blanes, whom he couldn’t use on his seminal score, Quartet Records and Fernando Velazquez present the same music he wrote a decade ago (including previously unrecorded alternates), using the know-how and skills he has gained in the past 10 years to bring fans a new recording of which we can all be proud.

This exclusive, 2-lp edition has been remastered for vinyl by Chris Malone, and includes newly commissioned artwork by PosterSpy & Karl Fitzgerald. The record comes in a deluxe gatefold package that includes statements from Fernando Velázquez and director J.A. Bayona. From the film freaks at Varèse Sarabande comes Reel Cult, a sensational new reissue series for B-movie soundtrack aficionados. One of the two titles kicking the series off for Record Store Day is the cult-classic, soul-jazz soundtrack for Ossie Davis' seminal cinematic social commentary, 1972's Black Girl. This LP features (AAA) lacquers cut by Jeff Powell from the original analog tapes and pressed on 180-gram clear/black swirl vinyl in a tip-on jacket. Groovy!

Chris' Soundtrack Corner proudly presents the first fully licensed and official release of the sought after soundtrack of Keoma, now on vinyl for the first time! Keoma features a unique and pervasive score by Guido & Maurizio De Angelis. These prolific musical brothers are well known for their predominantly song-based approach to scoring Italian films. With their background in popular music, it's no surprise that their film scoring approach is primarily based on tuneful, pop-rock vocal and instrumental music. Enzo G. Castellari's 1976 Western Keoma (aka THE Violent Breed, Keoma THE Avenger, Django Rides Again, Django'S Great Return and the like) is largely considered the best film they did together. Coming very late in the Italian or "Spaghetti" Western phase, the genre couldn't have had a better closing statement than Keoma, which offers a renewed approach with a unique audiovisual resonance that was every bit as striking as some of the first Italian Westerns that made international audiences stand up and pay attention. Castellari instructed the De Angelis's to write a song-score with songs in the style of Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan. The half dozen or so "chapters" of the "Keoma" song serve as a Greek Chorus lending words to the gunfighter's silent actions throughout the film, or at least letting loose the raging voices of cynicism roiling about in his head. The mix of songs and instrumental score is striking and effectual in giving the drama a unique vocal texture that accentuates what we're seeing, highlighting the pain, revulsion, and disillusionment heard within those gruff and pained voices as they embody the unspoken angst of Keoma as he faces down his final adversary in the dark, sullied town of his birth. The album also includes the De Angelis Brothers' score to Castellari's 1979 film IL Cacciatore DI Squali (The Hunter of Sharks; aka THE Shark Hunter, Guardians OF THE Deep, and even Django AND THE SharkS). This film is a far more trivial potboiler than Keoma, but it's an entertaining enough picture for the undemanding viewer. The De Angelis Brothers provided a tuneful score for this post-JAWS adventure drama about treasure hunters daring shark-infested waters to dive for sunken wealth. The score conveys a dreamy vibe that fits the warm landscapes and clear, sun-dappled waters, and the dangerous underwater ambiences involving competing treasure hunters and sharks alike. Chris' Soundtrack Corner presents the entire instrumental score from Keoma, as well as the essential elements of the score for IL Cacciatore DI Squali, both specially mastered for vinyl, on this premiere vinyl edition, pressed on 180g black vinyl with a gatefold tip-on cover. The album is presented in a limited edition of 500 units.

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the album ‘Monty Python Live At Drury Lane’. Inspired by Terry Gilliam’s unmistakable animations and graphics, the original artwork was created by Kate Hepburn and has been adapted for a first release on picture disc by Darren Evans and Holly Gilliam, who were also responsible for 2019 ‘Life Of Brian’ RSD release. It was recorded in March 1974 on the last night of a sell-out four week-run at the London theatre. The album features live versions of sketches made famous on the BBC TV progamme Monty Python’s Flying Circus.

Quartet Records and Paramount Pictures present the premiere vinyl edition of Ryuichi Sakamoto’s classic score for 1992 adaptation of Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights, starring Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche, and directed by Peter Kosminsky. Ryuichi Sakamoto (1952–2023) was one of the most personal and important voices of the world music scene for several decades: from rock to pop, new age, opera, concert music, electronic and film music, no genre was foreign to him, and he managed to stamp his own style on each of them. His acclaimed score for Wuthering Heights is written in the symphonic tradition of his scores for Bernardo Bertolucci’s THE Last Emperor (for which he won the Oscar for Best Original Score) and Little Buddha. One of Sakomoto’s most special and beloved scores, Wuthering Heights is haunting, beautiful, romantic and tragic. Specially mastered for vinyl by Chris Malone from original stereo master tapes and following the order of the original album produced by Sakamoto, the album is presented on 2xlp 180 GM clear transparent vinyl, in an elegant gatefold with images of the film.

Based on David Nicholls’ globally best-selling book, the TV serialisation of One Day has already proved hugely popular with audiences and critics alike. Multi award-winning screenwriter Nicole Taylor (Wild Rose, 3 Girls, The Nest) adapted the novel for Drama Republic and Netflix. The story follows Emma (Ambika Mod - This is Going To Hurt) and Dexter (Leo Woodall - The White Lotus) who speak for the first time on their graduation day in 1988. They go their separate ways but meet once a year on the anniversary as their relationship and lives evolve.

“We wanted to create a score that celebrates the love story between Dex and Em and also reflects the nostalgia for lost time and lost love that they feel, and viewers can relate to. The music had to follow their journey as their relationship evolves over the years, but still feel like it was rooted in one place. 1971 soundtrack from Ennio Morricone Pressed on Transparent Clear Vinyl & includes a 30x30cm insert Liner notes and audio remastered by Claudio Fuiano “Sacco e Vanzetti” is a 1971 dramatic movie directed by Giuliano Montaldo and masterfully starred by the two lead actors Gian Maria Volonté and Riccardo Cucciolla; the film deals with the everpopular topic of the death penalty by recounting a real event that caused quite a stir at the time: the sentencing to the electric chair of two Italian immigrants who were executed in 1927 after a sevenyear trial.

For “Sacco & Vanzetti” Ennio Morricone composed one of the most intense scores of his long and successful career, starting with the mostly romantic and extremely sad theme for oboe and orchestra “Speranze di libertà”. Joan Baez’s charming voice interprets “La ballata di Sacco e Vanzetti”, divided into three parts alternating with the macabre theme of “Nel carcere” provided by electronic effects and ripping strings that would fit well in a giallo movie. The ballad motif is then reprised and played by liturgical organ and orchestra in “Sacco e il figlio”, while “La sedia elettrica” is an experimental electronic music cut. The closing song “Here’s to You”, sung by Joan Baez, has become a sort of anthem worldwide.

On the occasion of Record Store Day 2024, this legendary soundtrack is exclusively reissued on clear vinyl, with new artwork and a 30x30cm insert. Liner notes and audio remastered by Claudio Fuiano.

1966 soundtrack from Ennio Morricone Pressed on Transparent Green Vinyl & includes a 30x30cm insert First ever release of four tracks on vinyl! “Come imparai ad amare le donne” (How I learned to love women) is a 1966 romantic comedy directed by Luciano Salce; the cast includes internationally renowned actors such as Anita Ekberg, Michèle Mercier and Robert Hoffman, as well as a very young Romina Power who was only 14 years old at the time. The beginning of the artistic collaboration between Ennio Morricone and Salce dates back to 1961, with one of the Maestro’s very first soundtracks, “Il federale” (The Fascist); the partnership then continued with “La voglia matta” (Crazy Desire), “La cuccagna” (A Girl… and a Million), “Le monachine” (The Little Nuns), “Slalom”, “El Greco” and, finally, “Come imparai ad amare le donne”.

For this film, Ennio Morricone composed a soundtrack that is a true hymn to love, with an elegant and refined atmosphere led by the beat ballad “Pioggia sul tuo viso” performed by the English group The Sorrows, and by various romantic themes such as “La diva”, “La donna gattina” and “La donna romantica” that alternate with classical compositions such as “Alta moda” and “Alla corte di Luigi Xvi”. The love theme returns in a danceable version in the opening credits.

Originally released in 1966 and reissued in 1985, this soundtrack is finally reissued on clear green vinyl LP with a new artwork and a 30x30cm insert. In addition, four tracks are here released on vinyl for the first time. Liner notes and audio remastered by Claudio Fuiano.

1969 soundtrack from Piero Umiliani Pressed on Yellow Vinyl & includes a 30x30cm insert First ever vinyl release of several tracks! “L'arcangelo” (The Archangel) is a 1969 comedy characterised by police and judiciary tones, directed by GIorgio Capitani and starring, among others, Vittorio Gassman, Pamela Tiffin, Adolfo Celi, Irina Demick and Carlo Delle Piane.

This soundtrack follows the previous “La notte è fatta per... rubare” (Night is Made for Stealing) which marked the beginning of Umiliani’s collaboration with the director. Mainly displaying a Latin American flavour, it contains several elements typical of the composer’s style, mixing bossa nova and samba with beat rhythms and Hammond organ, and is enriched by various vocal contributions from Alessandro Alessandroni’s Cantori Moderni and the delightful scat singing of Giulia De Mutiis, one of the choir’s female voices. Distorted electric guitars with orchestral ensemble also create an atmosphere between spy and detective story.

None of “The Archangel” tracks have ever been released in any form for many years, and to date there are only three CD editions only issued in Japan. This clear yellow vinyl version therefore fills a void and finally returns these wonderful compositions to us in the format that suits them best!

The reputation of the Japanese hip-hop production team Grey October Sound is spreading both in Japan and abroad. While they have released quality albums such as "Timeless" and "The Cave," their two lo-fi hip-hop cover albums, "Lo-Fi Ghibli" and "Lo-Fi City Pop," have become hits in record stores around the world. For the third installment of this series, they have set their sights on Japan's world-famous anime songs!

They will be covering songs from "Bleach", "Saint Seiya", "Puella Magi Madoka Magica", "k-on! and "Dragon Ball", all of which are lo-fi arrangements of theme songs and insert songs of high quality, while still showing respect for the originals. The cover of this album was designed by Rika Hase, an illustrator who also created the artwork for "Lo-Fi Ghibli" and "Lo-Fi City Pop".

Ba Da Bing is releasing the soundtrack to 2022’s paeon to cuisine prep, Flux Gourmet. A vibrant, four-coursed, 23-track double album, Flux Gourmet includes contributions by Heather Trost, Jeremy Barnes, Marta Salogni, Cavern of Anti-Matter, and Roj (Broadcast), as well as Strickland’s own compositions as part of The Sonic Catering Band. British Director and sonic pioneer, Peter Strickland, known for The Duke of Burgundy (2014), Berberian Sound Studio (2012) and Björk: Biophilia Live (2014), has always pushed visuals and narrative to absurd heights. In Flux Gourmet, performance artists taking part in a residency dedicated to sonic catering combining cooking, sound and theater. Food is amplified, microphones are jammed against blenders, and the sizzling sound of the frier turns becomes an ominous rattle. The film’s soundtrack is equally as process oriented, experimental, and kaleidoscopic as its protagonists’ practice. Legendary hip hop pioneer DJ Muggs and frequent David Lynch collaborator Dean Hurley join forces for the original score to the 2023 Sundance-premiering feature film Divinity. Equal parts sonically punishing and ethereal, the soundtrack delivers a unique punch that further intensifies the mind-bending, acid-trip experience of the film.

Divinity is a sci-fi dystopian odyssey produced by Steven Soderbergh and helmed by visionary director Eddie Alcazar. Set in the distant future, scientist Sterling Pierce dedicated his life to the quest for immortality, slowly making progress developing a serum named Divinity. Jaxxon Pierce, his son, now controls and profits from his father’s once benevolent dream. Society on their barren planet has been entirely perverted by the supremacy and pervasiveness of the drug. Two mysterious brothers arrive with a plan to abduct the mogul, and with the help of a woman named Nikita, they set on a trajectory hurtling toward true immortality.

Amidst the film’s extraordinary tapestry of stark aesthetics and themes, the score is a ten ton barbell of sonic weight. Crafted with 8-bit samplers, Wavestation synths, extended choir and string techniques, the soundtrack manages to swing wildly between the arenas of both music and sound design. Like all rich soundtracks, listening to the score on its own re-conjures the imagery of the film in the screen of the listener’s mind, an aural experience that manages to encapsulate and pulse a matched intensity of the film.

Tracks like ‘The Brothers’ and ‘Reflective Dreams’ cascade Vangelis-esque tones, painting with broad strokes of cinematic grandeur and ethereal wonder. ‘Main Titles’ and ‘Infinity Techno’ conversely swing hard into relentless, punishing sonics; with brutal, pulsing energy representative of the twisted, relentless pursuit of immortality. A standout of the album is undoubtedly “Divinity 2 Infinity: The Odyssey,” featuring cult hip-hop hero and lyrical-savant Kool Keith. Written for the film’s end credits, the track is a satisfying throwback to the 90’s original soundtrack cut bespoke-tailored to the film’s narrative themes.

DJ Muggs and Dean Hurley’s synergy yields a soundtrack that takes Divinity beyond the screen and into a multi-dimensional experience, inviting its listener along uncharted aural terrain for an unforgettable odyssey in sound.

Monster House marks Sony's first computer animated film produced by Sony Pictures Imageworks. Produced by Roger Zemeckis (Back to the Future Trilogy) and Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment, the film was released in 2006 and was met with praise from fans and critics for its blending of horror and accessibility to a broad audience as a feature animated film.

Its soundtrack was entrusted by the producers to Keith Emerson, another incredible artist, a virtuoso keyboardist and composer. In those early 1980s, having temporarily shelved the prog-rock experience of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Keith Emerson launched a solo career that led him to compose a number of soundtracks, including “Inferno” (1980), “Nighthawks” (1981) and, then, “Murderock”: here we have an energetic mix of 80s pop/rock anthems, perfectly in line with the sounds of the time, dressed with baroque and magniloquent arrangements that make the whole result extravagant and eccentric, almost impossible to classify and consequently unique. The most ‘straightforward’ and least extravagant tracks are “Tonight Is The Night”, “Streets To Blame” and “Not So Innocent”, sung by special guests Doreen Chanter and Mike Sheppard. “Murderock” has become a cult title among genre film fans over the years, and is here reissued on the occasion of Black Friday 2023 in a new clear blue vinyl version with gatefold sleeve and audio remastered by Claudio Fuiano. Directed by Elizabeth Banks and inspired by the 1985 true story of a drug runner's plane crash, missing cocaine, and the black bear that ate it, this wild dark comedy finds an oddball group of cops, criminals, tourists and teens converging in a Georgia forest where a 500- pound apex predator has ingested a staggering amount of cocaine and gone on a coke-fueled rampage for more blow … and blood.

About the composer:

Mark Mothersbaugh is a Grammy, Bafta, and Emmy nominated composer, producer, designer, and visual artist whose work has become part of the pop culture consciousness. He started his career as co-creator and front man for the seminal New Wave band Devo. Their Brian Eno/David Bowie-produced debut album “Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo” was certified Gold before their hit album “Freedom of Choice” went Platinum.

For Cocaine Bear, Mothersbaugh wanted a score that reflected and captured the culture of the ’80s, with a personality that evolved as the decade’s music evolved. “At the beginning of the film, it starts out very pop,” Mothersbaugh says. “But as it goes through it, it gets heavier. The guitars change up from being acoustic and lighter to being distorted and more aggressive and there are synths throughout that provide a pulse that keeps things moving.”

To make it as authentic as possible, Mothersbaugh used the instruments that created some of the most distinctive and memorable sounds of the ’80s music scene. “Once we decided we were going to let it soak a bit in an ’80s sound, I went to the warehouse where I store equipment and my old Devo road cases full of synths,” Mothersbaugh says. “I pulled out old synths that we used on albums in the ’80s and used the same synths and a lot of the same amps and foot pedals.”

The English is Federico Jusid's sweeping, nostalgic and raw score to Hugo Blick's six part contemporary Western. Giving a nod to 1950s western soundtracks, the score is enriched by Dvořák’s String Quartet No. 12. known as the "American", written during Dvořák’s stay in America, and only three years after the events of the series.

Also featured on the album are the beautiful folk songs by The Wailin' Jennys, Melanie, Crooked Still, Ora Cogan and Tom McRae. The second track on the album, Tâtačiksta_ - I Cherish You, features a tender reading by Emily Blunt.

Jusid’s music structure is based on leitmotifs, very simple and symmetric, constantly varied and developed to mirror the protagonists’ journeys. “Michael is one the most exciting composers working today - he has this amazing ability to create new sounds which was important for this film,” Jordan Peele says. “He's able to play in the familiar and in the unfamiliar at the same time, so that helps give every film its own character, and he has an incredible mastery of so many different music genres.” Abels is known for his genre-defying scores for the Jordan Peele films GET OUT and US, for which Abels won a World Soundtrack Award, the Jerry Goldsmith Award, a Critics Choice nomination, and multiple critics’ awards. Money (aka "Intrigo in 9 mosse") is a 1991 thriller directed by Steven Hilliard Stern and written by Larry Pederson and Gordon Roback, based on the novel of the same name by Paul-Loup Sulitzter. The film was produced by André Djaoui and René Malo, with music by Ennio Morricone and starring Eric Stoltz, Maryam D'Abo, Bruno Cremer, Mario Adorf, Anna Kanakis, F. Murray Abraham, Christopher Plummer, Bernard Fresson, Angelo Infanti and Tomas Milian. Frank Cimbali is a 21-year-old man who, trying to reclaim his legacy, discovers the dirty business of his father's former business partner. While traveling around the world in search of those who have robbed him of millions of dollars, Frank meets the love of his life. Finally, the young man finds Will Scarlet, who had been his father's partner and who is now seriously ill. Will admits his role in the crime and decides to help Frank track down the rest of the men on his revenge list. Two different versions of Money were produced, one for television and one for the cinema. Most of the soundtrack is repertoire, but this CD, with a duration of approx. 37 minutes, contains only the original music composed, orchestrated and conducted by Ennio Morricone, derived from the stereo masters of the original sessions. Oscar Valdambrini is the exceptional flugelhorn soloist on the rhythmic main theme, which is alternated with moments of comedy, suspense and action. This reissue will be welcomed by anyone who missed out on the long-out-of-print GDM CD release and is essential for every collection dedicated to the musical genius of Ennio Morricone.

About Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe:

Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe (b.1975) is an artist, curator and composer who works primarily with, but not limited to, voice and modular synthesizer for sound in the realm of spontaneous music. Along with analog video synthesis works, he has brought forth an A/V proposal that has been a focus of live performance and installation / exhibition.

The marriage of synthesis and the voice has allowed for a heightened physicality in the way of ecstatic music, both in a live setting and recorded. The sensitivity of analogue modular synthesis echoes the organic nature of vocal expression, which in this case is meant to put forth a trancelike state. Lowe’s works on paper tend towards human relations to the natural/magical world and the repetition of motifs.

This is an unsettling yet beautiful record, ambient passages give way to menacing jittering Synths amid Nick Zinner’s familiar guitar tones soaked in reverb, conjuring up long dark highways, deserted buildings and dense woods that never end. The artwork by Henry Abrams compliments the audio perfectly.
