We're very pleased to be releasing four brand new songs on this EP by the recently reformed CASE. Following on from their compilation album from last year which brought together all their original early recordings. After the success of the two Laurel Aitken previous singles backed by Mighty Megatons band, on which the Spanish band completes old unfinished masters from the legendary 'HIgh Priest Of Reggae', Liquidator Music releases now the third 7”. On the A side is a cover from The Paragons ‘Only A Smile’ rock steady classic, an elegant interpretation by the genuine Godfather Of Ska from Jamaica who pays tribute to his beloved singer John Holt. On the B side we can find ‘On The Plantation', a Roots Rock Reggae killer tune. Laurel produced, along his career, some conscious numbers, even rastafari and panafricanist but, probably, this one is the most militant along his legacy. Mighty Megatons has done a great job showing their versatility among the classic Jamaican sounds. A must for any Reggae and Rocksteady collector.

Pat & Roxie's "Way Of Fortune" begins flowing from the impactful theme of the Skatalites. The duo vocals are not as slick as those of the Blues Busters, but the mood is stylish. The original release was on Jamaica's Down Beat label, and the UK version was never released. Rare ska vocal that fetched over 150,000 yen at the Drum & Bass Recoreds auction.

This is the very first reissue of the much in demand double sided killer single released in 1970 on the Upsetter label. Both tracks were produced by Lee Perry. The A side is a beautiful yet wicked cover of LET IT BE by the Beatles, produced by Lee Perry and performed by the Soulettes. The B side is BIG DOG Bloxie, an even wackier version of the A side by Lee Perry!

“Gun The Man Down ” by Dice The boss aka Pama Dice was first released in 1969 on the Trojan sublabel Joe with the track “Thief” by Joe Mansano on the B side. “Thief” is also reissued by us on a separate single dedicated to Joe Mansano. “Your Boss DJ” was also released in 1969 on the Joe Label with the track “Read The News” by Joe All Stars on the flip. Both titles are skinhead reggae classics that have never been reissued and are very much demand.

"You'll Never Know" was released as a coupling to "In The Mood For Love" on Ska Beat in the UK. Everything from the intro to the lyric and rhyme scheme is beautiful. Tanamo is good at calypso style singing, but the sad tune also suits him well. The coupling song, "I Love You Truly", is a wonderful song with a fast and furious performance of the Skatalites in their heyday and Lloyd Knibb's powerful drumming. "Lock And Key" was written by popular Trinidadian singer Lord Bryner. The chorus will stay in your head all day, and it is rare to find an original calypso that is so pop. The coupling is by Orville Alphonso. The melody has the smell of the Caribbean, and the ska vocals are sure to be a hit with calypso lovers. Two songs full of Caribbean moods are coupled.

The Specials shook up the British music scene in 1979 when their blend of English punk and Jamaican ska took the nation by storm. The Dawning of a New Era collects the legendary 1978 demos, cut when the group was known as The Automatics, with Silverton Hutchinson on drums and before the arrival of Neville Staples. Favourites such as ‘Night Klub,’ ‘Too Much Too Young,’ ‘Stupid Marriage,’ ‘Concrete Jungle,’ ‘Blank Expression’ and the title track are here presented in rougher, spikier arrangements, much of the work-in-progress referencing the reggae stylings of the late 1960s and early 70s. A must for all Specials fans!

Takeshi Nakatsuka’s collaboration cover project has been generating buzz with each release. For this third installment, he teams up once again with videobrother—who were a hit with their covers of Tokio and "Hashire Shoujikimono"—to bring a fresh, modern club twist to classic Showa and Heisei-era songs. Side A features a cover of AKB48's "Heavy Rotation," capturing the original's upbeat energy with a unique and fiery twist that only Nakatsuka and videobrother could pull off. On Side B, they transform Barbee Boys’ "Me wo Tojite Oide yo" into a groovy boogaloo tune! This album is a testament to the eclectic talents that are part of the contemporary European Reggae, Funk, Soul, and Jazz scenes. Steering this sonic expedition are the adept Michal “Michu” Krygiel, also known as Baodub, and the inventive Davide “Deez” Di Sauro. Michu, a stalwart in the dub sound system and electronic scene, not only anchors the album with his foundational drum beats but also takes the helm in mixing and recording. Davide, with his creative spark, orchestrates the album’s arrangement and composition, weaving in his unique bass rhythms that echo his past work with The Officinalis and Napoli Rockers Syndicate, alongside the pulsating beats of Afrodesia’s ‘Episode One’. Their artistry is amplified by the spirited strumming of guitarists Andrea Farias and Alessandro “Sugar / Papa” Rizla, and the percussive precision of Giosuè Perna, whose collaborations with Periodica Records and Aloe Vera have refined their collective harmony, enriching the musical journey with a diverse palette of auditory hues. The album’s vocal prowess is delivered by Payoh Soul Rebel, whose voice stands unrivaled in the European reggae and soul landscape. The icing on the cake is undoubtedly the presence of Andres Balbucea, the singer, composer, and pianist of the breakout Disco/Afrobeat band, Parlbleu. A fellow member of the Napoli Rockers Syndicate, like the pianist Giulio Neri, Andres is entrusted with the entire composition of the organ sound for this album—an indispensable element of offbeat music—imbued with his unmatched touch. The brass arrangements, a soul-stirring element of the album, are the brainchild of jazz maestro Enrico Fumo, with the alto saxophone melodies woven by the esteemed Jah Wind, a name synonymous with reggae aficionados. The fusion of these musicians and their diverse styles, rooted in a strong reggae foundation yet infused with Soul, Funk, Latin, and Jazz, is visually encapsulated by Riccardo Corda. Corda, a visionary designer whose work has graced albums like ‘The Mauskovic Dance Band’ by Soundway Records and ‘Bar Mediterraneo’ by Nu Genea, lends his artistic signature to this album, further solidifying its place as a modern classic. The trumpet and trombone are in the capable hands of the Valencian duo, Jonas Sanchez and Manuel Pardo, masters of brass who bring a vibrant soul to every note. The first single by Mighty Caskets, formed around Ichimura of EX. Cool Wise MAN, is "green EYES," a bluesy, superb instrumental ska with a melancholy tenor saxophone melody and shuffle beat that hits the heart. In addition, the B-side features a garage-inspired cover of Jimmy Smith's "The Cat," which takes one's breath away with its thrilling and sensational organ tones. Blue Beat Players' latest music release is now available! “Scootering on!”, a power ska tune that starts with the exhaust note of “Lambretta” (The NUMBERS!) and features Masayuki “Marc” Hayashi's vocal and chorus interplay, is included on the A-side. The B-side is “Marseile Soreil”, an authentic lovers' rock full of love dedicated to Yumi, a member of the band who passed away earlier this year.

Rude Bones, a pioneer in the Japanese ska-core scene, releases two of its latest releases on 7”!! This EP features a bold Rocksteady arrangement of the Northern Soul classic “I'm Where It's At” by The Jades! In contrast, “Losing Track” is an up-tempo ska number with a sharp and catchy melody that is sure to get ska dances and singalongs. Both are big tunes that symbolize the current Rude Bones and will resonate well with past and future fans.

New single by Nagoya based SKA band THE Rude Pressures, who are set to perform at Fuji Rock Festival '24! The Rude Pressures, a Nagoya-based SKA band active since 1990, will release their first new single in four years, a collaborative single featuring Japan's proud Rock Steady singer Takako (The Drops /ex Dreamlets ). Takako's own bittersweet original tune and a cover of "You And Me" by Penny & The Quarters, an insert song from the movie "Blue Valentine" starring Ryan Gosling. The arrangement is a superb Lovers Rock Steady that makes the most of her unique style.

Not from Kingston for once, but from Cologne/Germany, they have almost 30 years of experience in offbeat music. Their rich groove of two tone, ska and dub doesn't need to hide from the greats they have already performed with. The band's anniversary album has a Madness feel to it, the Toasters send their regards and the Hotknives also make an appearance. No wonder the highlights of their career are as numerous as the steps in the famous Cologne cathedral, the Dom. In 1961 Byron Lee And The Dragonaries took a huge break when they were part of the first James Bond film - Dr. No - as the hotel band . This album from an Italian-based production outfit on Aloe Vera Records celebrates the label's early years and the unique style of one of the imprint's key acts, The Officinalis's. They were known for classics like 'Si Comme' Si' and for blending. Naples and Jamaican musical cultures. Aloe Vera Records skilfully merged these worlds in their output and created a distinctive and recognisable sound that bridges past and present. These are all well-crafted sounds with warm low ends, rich bass and plenty of loved-up melodies that make it a nice escapist listen.
