Oxia's classic ‘Domino' gets reworked for it's ten year anniversary - in 2 vinyl parts. A decade after initially seeing the light, Oxia's now classic ‘Domino' get's reworked to celebrate it's anniversary. The new release features a new cut by Oxia himself as well as several remixes by none other than Frankey & Sandrino, Robag Wruhme and Matador. The EP will be released through Agoria's newly found record label Sapiens on February 24th. Ten years ago the track made waves in the international dance music circuit, striking up chords with techno, trance and house DJs alike to quickly become an all-time classic. Having never expected the track to reach the status that it his, it's a very dear project to Oxia and he needed quite some persuading to give in and let Agoria and his team create something that was worthy of the original. Detroit's Rebecca Goldberg, aka 313 Acid Queen, releases 5 techno bangers incl. Mark Broom remix on Phoq U.
Phoq U Phonogrammen, the rebellious U-trax sublabel, returns after 26 years with its eight release, produced and manufactured in Detroit. Detroit native Rebecca Goldberg, who has previously released music and performed live under her 313 Acid Queen alias, will present her brand new People Mover EP at the Detroit Movement festival, on May 26, 2023.
The EP features 5 dancefloor fillers, including the Detroit-style remix by Mark Broom of the opening track Automated. The EP is inspired by transportation, industry and travel, as well as the city of Detroit of course, paying homage to the original minimal techno music and the evolution of technology and industry.
All tracks are live jams, recorded in one take on all hardware instruments. Rebecca tries to do as little post-work as possible, with just a little bit of final arrangement. Her work often incorporates field recorded sounds, and for this EP she used samples recorded while riding on the Detroit People Mover itself, the elevated automated light rail system in downtown Detroit. Goldberg started a sound walk group called Detroit Frequency and the recordings were taken on during the first event last summer.
The EP kicks off with the fast-paced Automated, that echoes the hypnotic minimal techno sound of Robert Hood. Mark Broom added an extra dose of 909 funk in his Mark Broom remix, which provides the track with even more pumping rhythms and making it sound even more 'classic Detroit'.
The B-side opens with Elevated, that features industrial-ish DPM sounds on a bed of pure acid, as if Goldberg wants us to remember why she is named the 313 Acid Queen. Staying On meanwhile, puts a repeating DPM announcer's voice central stage, making it a fascinating piece of minimal techno. The closing track Linear Motion creates a dark atmosphere, with eerie, down-pitched DPM sounds that makes this a spooky techno trip that we believe many people will love.

New York ravers' family favorite Club Night Club announce their inaugural release as a record label. The first offering comes courtesy of Manchester heavyweight Herron. The meandyou founder and Soup Kitchen owner follows up last year's 'Box Of Swords' EP for Peder Mannerfelt with a gritty four tracker aimed squarely at the dance floor. On 'Lowflow' we see him develop similar sludgy Uk techno mutations to his 2016 Co/r collaboration with Joy Orbison, but this time with more explicit peak time intent. The Hi-Fi, sleazy chug core is ever present, but particularly on the A side, a freneticism of breaks pressure and pummeling sound design is let loose. In keeping with the name of A2's Velcro Spider, the record weaves a complex blend of the synthetic and heartfelt. Stumbling, low slung grooves mutate over the course of each track, quietly building and sustaining a tension the listener is unaware of until all hell breaks loose at the last minute in true drug chug fashion.

Although Rico Puestel has been producing since 2005, he still seems to be something of an insider tip. Since "Caravel" though, his August release on Cocoon Recordings, things have taken a dramatic turn with Puestel currently enjoying "man of the moment" status, especially when it comes to progressive techno and peak time action on the dance floor.??"973" picks up exactly where "Caravel" left off, kicking powerfully with irresistable, effect-loaded breaks that really twist your melon. This one really works you over but there's also feeling and a touch of elegance, in fact we can't remember hearing anything like this since Len Faki's Dustin Zahn Remix! "973" proves that "Caravel" was no flash in the pan, just one tantalising glimpse into the musical world of Rico Puestel and that's not the end of it...??"272" is a little more stripped down and chilled to start with, but soon opens up into the same crazy atmosphere as "973". This is dominated by an up-and-running arpeggio synth, which combines with the now familiar effects-break motif to create an incredible hypnotic effect. A little less brutal than "973" but drenched in more reverb, "272" is something like "kicking Deep Techno" with a nod to the Tech House corner in the style of Mark Broom or Joris Voorn.
Mr. Puestel serves up two choice cuts here and there's no question that 973272 will be with us for a while. Buckle up, hold tight and off we go!

Soma mainstay Deepchord returns with part 2 of the Luxury Series. This Double A release feature Deepchord s signature atmosphere rich tones and lush environments and also mark a slight upturn in terms of pressing on a more Techno vibe.

Luxury 3 opens as spacious as can be as the dynamic Modell crafts otherworldly pads and haunting tones, driven by muted kicks and driving subs. His effective use of delay and reverb knows no bounds as he subtly shifts synth stabs and background noise through the dimensional barrier, creating rhythms so refined they defy the natural law. His usual percussive wizardry is at work here that, whilst vigorous, retains a light atmospheric feeling keeping fully in line with the melancholic tones of the track. Clocking in around 14minutes, this is Modell as his most immersive.

Luxury 4 has a distinct Detroit heart to it. Those almost instantly recognisable saw waves, moulded by layers upon layers of processing, swirls and evolve and Deepchord slowly works in various elements of the track to unparalleled levels. Fairly reminiscent of earlier, more stripped work, subtle percussion brings things to life fairly quickly as Modell allows the layers of ethereal synths and processing to blend and fuse naturally, creating a cohesive background to which the listener can easily spend hours listening to, every time finding ever so slight nuances to each cycle of the track.

Deepchord never fails to impress with every release and can easily change his style up from previous incarnations based in pure atmospherics to his own unique brand of legendary Dub Techno

“This record is dedicated to my good friend Mike Huckaby. He planned on remixing "Incineration of Years and Truth" back when I originally made it in 2011, but we never got around to actually making that happen. I'm also honored to have my other close friend Phil Moffa on remix duties. There were many sessions in Phil's studio (Butcha Sound Studio, Nyc) where we used to jam with Mike whenever he would come to New York to DJ or hang out. We used to play with synthesizers for hours. We were all good friends and it was perfect to have Phil on this record as well! Mike taught and inspired us to have fun with making music and push ourselves to be the best that we can be. We will love him forever.” Rob Hampton, better known to most as DJ Spider, has been releasing his twisted take on Techno and experimental electronica for over a decade on the likes of The Trilogy Tapes, Rekids, Vanguard Sound! and Berceuse Heroique as well as his and Dakini’s own Plan B Recordings and its sub labels BTU and Sublevel Sounds. Here he joins the roster of Spinning Plates, the London-based label that’s established itself as a go to purveyor for leftfield leaning Techno, Electro and more. Title-cut ‘Hyperspace Wardance’ leads and employs DJ Spider’s typically dynamic, brooding and robust style via clattering percussion, eerie pads, murky bass stabs and tension building atmospherics. Phil Moffa’s take on ‘Hyperspace Wardance’ follows, adding a lighter touch to things, bringing the pads to the forefront alongside a shuffled drum groove, snaking bass line and resonant synth licks. Opening the flip-side is ‘Space Aggressor Squadron’, a six minute workout fuelled by squelchy acid lines, swelling pads and crunchy, distorted rhythms before ‘Incineration Of Years And Truth’ completes the EP, edging things into a dubby territory courtesy of smooth chord sequences, spiralling echoes and bumpy, reduced drums.

The title track “Nothing But Pain” shows the sound evolution that Niceteed is taking and opens the label to new music styles; huge rounded kick, violent sub bass, warm n’ dirty groove elements absorbed inside the reverberated synth stab and an epic shrill vocal, a track which belongs in the peak-moment of every secret rave. If we consider we also have a more Tech-oriented banger remix by the Irish talent Josh Coakley everything collides on an absolute terrific A-side. “This EP means a lot for me and for the label, I have dreamed for a long time to release a vinyl on Chapeau and It’s hard to say how happy I am about this achievement. During these difficult months for the scene I had enough time to think and to concentrate about what I want to do and the direction I want to take, it was a very deep inner process. This vinyl style perfectly represents what I want to play out, I feel the overall production workflow and my production approach was more spontaneous and less thoughtful on these tracks.”

Gilmer’s first release came out in 2015, called ‘Brain Poacher’ on Lobster Theremin. Showcasing a production style taht lands between Ancient Methods, Sandwell district and a more rugged version of the live-orientated Karen Sound. Keeping the Rhythms and grooves undulating under booted foot. The next year after the nuclear arms test that was the ‘Brain Poacher’, Gilmer returns to the lobster family via Lucid, Murky sub-label Mörk with his second record called ‘Lost Tapes’. Taking a much more languid and contemplative approach to his follow up. ‘Lost Tapes’ finds itself washed ashore on waves of warm, translucent, salt-infused techno and house giving his next release the opportunity to make his debut in Turbo Recordings with a foour track EP called ‘Baker Shit Ton’. After releasing on Lobster Theremin and Turbo, Gilmer Galibard launches his own imprint ‘Gilmer Galibard Records’. This project is a pure expression of his personal experiences and stories through music and visual art using each release as a timeline of his life. The concept of the label is also to explore boundaries of introspective musical experiences, taking sound design as a way to connect with his body and soul. These tracks were written in a period of uncertainty and a s big change in Gilmer, seeking powerful change in his life and his music. Inspired by Austin Osman Spare and his book ‘Book of Pleasure’ Gilmer gave birth to Novaturient, to honour that important moment of his life. Novaturient (Rainforest Spiritual Dub) is the first track of Gil01 and delivers almost over 7 minutes worth of deep harmonics and metallic textures, manifesting Gilmer’s own sound design. Even though the core ideology remains correlative. B-Sides Komorebi (Getwaway To The Sun Mix) creates its own identity by venturing into a deep industrial techno with drops of light and hope accompanied by an organic percussion through the track. Side A begins the release with a breezy opening track by highly regarded and Berlin based artist, Soela. ’Fledgling’, is a perfect blend of tech and melodic chord highlights that every DJ appreciates in their hands to open a set. Next, we have Dawn Razor, who hails from Russia. ’Calm Storm’ is the perfect name for this uptempo foray into peak-time techno where unusual and exciting sounds balance a minimalistic banger that somehow rides a gentle wave of restfulness. Side B features Greek producer Stelios Vassiloudis on the first track titled ’Live in Fear’. The un-nerving mechanical feel of this track is sure to turn some heads. It’s pronounced beat and constant dub-chord interference aggressiveness is turned up to level 10 in this epic piece creating a dancefloor monster. Lastly, ’Elusive’ is the contribution from Russian duo Semitone Cycles. Anton Lanski and Simon P offer the strongest builder on the EP. Well-placed sounds accentuate the catchiness of the track that just gets better and better with each play. Veteran Icelandic but Copenhagen-based techno figurehead Bjarnar Jonsson, is the brains behind the Ohm Series.

At Radikon, we were mesmerized the first time we heard Diamond Mouth’s angelic brand of noisy, dream-like pop and have asked some of our favorite artists to reimagine the Danish duo’s singular soundscapes for catalogue number 31. Frankey & Sandrino’s rendition of ‘Stare at Me’ shrouds the original’s lumbering moodiness in layers of impatient percussive salvos and sizzling electric stabs. A monumental pad infuses the haunting vocals with a sense of urgency, creating a compelling emotional dichotomy to the hypnotic original. Setting the dissonant spoken word mantras of ‘Divine Flow’ to a mechanical, throbbing groove with pulsating blips and white noise hits, Ruede Hagelstein retains the original’s menacing quality. In a striking change of pace, the track is enveloped in layers of soothing pads and glittering percussion, artfully mirroring the original’s progression from dissonant uneasiness to divine bliss. Yubik’s version of ‘Blade of Light’ imbibes the original’s monumentality, while infusing it with a powerful anthemic quality. His signature drum and synth work adds a beautiful layer of massive, all-encompassing emotionality, and distills the original’s complex soundscapes into raw dance floor energy. Contrasting to Ruede’s rendition, Jonas Saalbach chose a different route for his version of ‘Divine Flow’. Focusing on the blissful, floaty energy in the second part of the original, Jonas elevates the dreamy original to shimmering heights of pure bliss set to an effortlessly powerful groove.

If we consider we also have a more Tech-oriented banger remix by Josh Coakley everything collides on an absolute terrific A-side. The flip side opens with “Leben”, a tribute track for the crew that Niceteed is part of in his hometown. Here the fast and weighty kick drum hugs the rhythmic components, gritty hi-hats and claps. Everything settles down on the straight and impact synth stab line. The final track “Ketama Aurea” lead us in the darkest part of this record, a gloomier zone that perfectly fits the end of this EP. Over the baggy kick drum everything is surrounded by the tangled synth melodies, their sounds are intertwined in the mix like arms of ravers in the murkiest warehouse party. Here the melancholic vocal is opposed to the warm bassline that stands out after the breaks in an impressive way.

Lotus Wash drops his debut album on LBD Sounds, bringing a whole load of fresh material which came out from his experience as a session musician, and performing his experimental live sets around the Czech Republic. He connects the dots between classically trained musician and modular synth-head, working in Prague's DIY shop and creative community Noise Kitchen. The album spans across 6 original tracks of pure analogue bliss and live ideas, alongside three remixes from his closest allies, local producers Oliver Torr, Vision of 1994, and Hrtl.

The Field Theory was created during a period of deep fascination with quantum physics, with the tracks being conceptually and aesthetically inspired by some of its phenomena. Acoustically, it's mostly a slow and dark affair, with Lotus Wash only letting the light in very briefly when the sun is young (Magnetic Moment), keeping the shutter firmly closed for the rest of the record. His music does not rely on banging beats to drive it, instead letting intense grooves do the job from deep underground, just like on earth-shattering album opener Vacuum Fluctuation. He masters his craft of building atmosphere, a skill learnt during multiple collaborations with various Czech theatres. Of course, he lets the steam out occasionally, and always with devastating effect (Higgs Field, Casimir Force), but mostly choses to keep it capped, humming and hissing. When the sky clears, he opts for a minimalistic and hypnotic approach, only to disturb this peace with a killer bassline in one of the album's highlights â€“ Spooky Action in A Distance â€“ later re-imagined and re-electrified by Oliver Torr. Standard Model is anything but your standard techno, while Hrtl's remix of Magic Moment flirts with techno too, but on a dubbier and brighter side. Bringing the album to a close is Vision of 1994's downtempo take on the same track, finally letting you breathe out.

For the third installment of Henk, the two DJ’s and producers from Cologne, Germany showcase once again a wide variety of styles in their production. With the A1 being a collaboration of the two, the 3 other tracks are solo works by Stikdorn. “Reset” quickly makes it’s way into any raver’s heart. Fast-paced drums and percussions meet mellow pads and 90’s vibe arpeggio’s, making this a sure shot on any dancefloor in summer. It’s clear that the A-Side on this one is reserved for the bangers once you dive into “Come Closer”. A haunting 303 acid line garnered by steadily pounding drums and vocal snippets reminding you of the early hardcore days making this a must-have for any DJ-Set. On the B-Side things slow down significantly. But only in tempo, not in deepness for sure. “Anemia” is one of these tracks that evolve while floating through space and time, taking you to the trippier and more thoughtful places, either on the dancefloor or wherever you are. “Low Lights” highlights Stikdorn’s affinity for breakbeats once again. Perfectly suitable to take your DJ-Set into another direction or for the early/late hours in the club.

After traversing the globe through epicentres that have established Techno as a genre thats here to stay, such as Berlin, New York, and London, Reclaim Your City digs deeper to uncover some more modern capitals that are bubbling from underneath like Stockholm, Buenos Aires and Madrid. The label only continues to expand into underground culture to deliver sounds from some of the best local talent of Tbilisi and Milan for their ninth release. The A-Side presents tracks from Milan-based artists Wrong Assessment and Alfredo Mazzilli to showcase the strength in their growing scene. Wrong Assessment's 'Milano' demonstrates a dynamic rave track with a prudent build, much like the Trance that graced Italian dance floors in the early 00's, while Alfredo Mazzilli's 'Crossing Boarders' paints dreamlike state with a harmonic array of synths. With Tbilisi representing the records' B-Side, the rhythms delve in to a much more unrefined state as Newa and Skyra deliver tracks which emerged from the recent political upheaval that swept the city. Clergy returns for its 9th instalment with a club ready EP of serious weapons from label mainstay, and one half of Works Unit, Reflec. The four track release opens with 'Acid Response', in which Reflec has combined a tough rhythm section with a growling 303 to create a high energy roller guaranteed to keep the dance floor moving. Continuing on this trend of heavy hitting rollers, 'Osmosis' is a drum track through and through, which incorporates dark and sweeping atmospherics into the groove true to Reflec's form.

The B side see's host to 'Canyon', a peak time Clergy anthem with heavy, driving drums complimented with a spacey and emotional pad on the breakdown. Clergy 009 is rounded off by a broken edit of 'Canyon' which exchanges the driving kicks for a fragmented rhythmic style, a nod to the UK roots of Reflec's musical style.

Doorly's Reptile Dysfunction continues to prove itself to be one of the most vibrant and singular labels around, this time tapping up legendary producer Jaydee for its latest release.

Jaydee is a dance music pioneer. Best know for the seminal 'Plastic Dreams' - a track that, somewhat terrifyingly for those who remember it the first time around, will be celebrating its 25 th anniversary next year - he has continued to be a leading light in innovative house and techno productions, releasing on R&S and Ellum Audio in the last few years.

Here, he teams up with fellow dance music visionary Doorly for a searingly brilliant release on the latter's Reptile Dysfunction imprint. 'Acid Pressure EP' presents two original cuts from Jaydee, with supporting remixed from Doorly and Trooko.

Kicking things off, 'Back Into Acid' opens with stunningly heartfelt pads before building to a killer acid line via shimmering percussion and erotically charged vocal snatches. 'Bring The Pressure' is more direct: a house roller softened by Basic Channel-esque chords and with added rhythm courtesy of the accompanying ragga
chants.

On the remix front, Doorly flips 'Back Into Acid' into something far more menacing, with fierce synths stabs and rolling drums creating a head down stomper, while Trooko chops 'Back Into Pressure' into pieces, crafting a thumping main room house cut from the constituent parts, complete with an epic, piano-led breakdown.

Both Roberto and his own Fossil Archive label continue to go from strength to strength. Roberto has consistently delivered at DJ bookings that have seen him return time and again to the likes of Tresor and fabric, while the label has fast become a favourite in DJ boxes and amongst Techno heads.

The label closed 2016 on a high with its first set of remixes from two Techno legends, Sterac and Rolando. And now for the first release of 2017 Roberto is thrilled to draft in the refined skills of Fachwerk’s Roman Lindau. Roberto has of course released on Fachwerk in the past and been featured on the bill on more than one occasion when the Berlin label have taken over Berghain, so Roman is a fitting and very welcome addition to his UK imprint.
Teaming up for ‘Nerinea Trinodosa’ on the A-side, Roman and Roberto’s production styles complement one another perfectly on this solid peak-time offering, bringing a depth and power that continues the Fossil Archive dedication to raw and unfaltering beats.

Roberto then goes it alone for ‘Triage’ on the B-side, a track which was already featured on Alan Fitzpatrick’s recent fabric mix CD. With its tough tribal sound and deep bass, there’s some serious funk in the groove, completing another essential release from the Fossil Archive camp.

The first track is by Bleaker who put out a 12” on Unknown To The Unknown last year, the second by Miz aka Big Miz who’s been putting out music on Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, the third by The Burrell Connection who has a release on West End Communications and a track on a Craig Knows released compilation and the last track is from myself which got a play on Big Miz’s boiler room set.

These tracks were all sent to me around the same time and it felt right to make a place for them on a record. Bleaker, Miz and The Burrell Connection have all been making waves in Scotland and beyond and these 3 tracks are proof that the attention is warranted. And I don’t think my track is too bad either.

The fifth Planet Tapes projects us into a completely efficient mechanism that propagates rapidly and causes spectacular consequences. A1 written by Graham Sims and Simon Button better known as Connective Zone. After releasing music in the 90s and early 2000s, one of their old works is about to see the light of day, almost 20 years after their last appearance on vinyl. A2 created by R.E.S.S, a South American boy part of the "Orbe" collective and passionate about parties with small groups of people. Official debut on vinyl but his first solo EP won't be long in coming. For Borneo’s ninth release DJ City delivers two deep dance floor cuts, referencing and paying hommage to his childhood idols, craftily combining well known building blocks into future classics.
”Sierra Madre” is a warm and deep dive into the aesthetics of the late 90s electronic music scene, balancing between lush pads and low bit rates. Steadily it progresses as the loops unfold and evolve into an ambient landscape of clear peaks and valleys. Dreamy and suggestive without becoming too literal or camp, it invites its listener to let the mind wander during the course of the dance.
On the flip side, “5426261” is a more playful feature as its percussion and somewhat off tune melodies roll out. The texture is light and invites its listener to venture in thought to an imaginary Mediterranean location right before dawn. The enigmatic title is repeated in a sample towards the end, implicating it is a phone number. Who are you trying to reach?

Following on from the release of a spilt EP from rising stars Gramrcy and Gaunt late last year, GlassTalk Records returns in 2019 with the sophomore EP from Bristol's Henry Greenleaf, "Patent".
The unassuming producer has been making waves with his bassy 130bpm productions which seem almost custom-made for the later hours of dark club settings.
Since his debut release on Par Avion last November, Greenleaf has been focused on increasing the sonic scale and clarity of his work; something that's apparent on the whole of "Patent" but especially on the opener, "Inch". A true 'creeper' of a track, the groove and harmonic arrangement of the 3-minute build-up is somewhat entrancing but then gives way to a head-wringing breakdown.
True to his previous output, Henry doesn't sit still stylistically on "Patent". The EP's second track, "Tare", moves away from the 4x4 structures of "Inch" and into more syncopated territory previously occupied by producers like Mickey Peace or Paleman. "Tare" is a masterclass in polyrhythms with all manner of kicks, claps and vox samples skittering over each other. This deft use of drum programming is complemented by serene and uplifting synth sections, cleansing the tonal pallet before the beat forcefully drops back in.
On the B-Side, "Caved" keeps the energy and the tempos high with supremely processed high hats and a rumbling low-end landscape. Here Henry Greenleaf's adoration of Paula Temple's music shines through more than ever. Much like her output, it's kind of hard to know which way is up in "Caved" with its ever-shifting palette of sounds and grooves.
Closer and EP title track "Patent" is probably the vastest song Greenleaf has created during his recent mission to grow his productions in scale. It's a mammoth techno track with a pulsing low-end juxtaposed against some sporadic & icey synth pads.
This release solidifies Henry Greenleaf's already hard-to-dispute status as one of the leading lights of the 'Bristol sound'. Almost impossible to define; his work sits in that amorphous sweet spot where techno, dubstep, garage and a load of other UK influences bleed into each other to form something unique. Put your headphones on and let the grooves swallow you up.

Amsterdam based label Anagram readies label co-founder Sinfol's first solo release in three years entitled 'Pull Back'. It features electro breaks rhythm patterns and harmonics to send you in to orbit. Following is "Shifting", a more acid tech vibe and straight 4/4 chugger, in line with proper Detroit / UK lushness from the 90's and forward. Flip to the B side for "Reliquish John Shima remix". It's hard to say which track is the peak, but this one's a contender. John Shima is known for his signature bleepy, but danceable sound. Unknown Assailant is a limited run vinyl only label shrouded in mystery. Each of the four tracks on this second release touches on a different style of techno/deep tech, ranging from the timeless sound of the Detroit inspired “Ancient Beauty” to the peak time energy and in-your-face style of “Rude Awakening”.

It also incorporates the dark and stripped-back minimal style of “Isolated Mechanics” plus the trippy atmosphere and dystopian vibe of “How Has It Come To This”.

Unknown Assailant is a secretive artist who lets the music do the talking, and all four of the tracks on this release are solo productions from the illusive producer. Striking from the shadows to showcase an eclectic range of dancefloor focused techno/deep tech that orientates around raw grooves with machine driven sounds, this vinyl only release cuts straight to the heart of the dancefloor.

This release is limited to a vinyl pressing of only 200 copies with the previous release picking up support by artists ranging from Gerd to Arnaud Le Texier.

Stepping on your expectations with big boned swivel, Heron Fischer’s follow-up to a 2019 debut on Promesses delivers a peak club anthem in-the-making. Following a string of exceptional mixtapes and compilations on the label, ‘Wish That You Would’ is only the 2nd original release on Chrome after Mobbs’ standout album, keeping one eye firmly on the ‘floor with coordinates wide open on its spaced-out set of remixes.

The OG banger ‘Wish That You Would’ comes on like a ruder answer to that ‘bota’ tune, swirling similar elements - organ vamp, bugged-out vocal, infectious garage-house swang - with a sicker, hands-on feel, road-ready foley and pitching drop guaranteed to get dancers in a lather, rather than line-dancing.

The remixes are the ones though. For his first ever flip, Rat Heart dresses down ‘Wish That You Would’ to the skeletal fundamentals of an empty warehouse beat track, headless rave vox and dubbed out dial tones with a sublime tension that echoes classic Actress in that simmering Terrence Dixon mode. Mad Rey rounds things off with a simmered down but still robust take, flexing like a clipped DJ Rush or Sneak butterfly rhythm.

This is the year of Peder Mannerfelt's rebirth. After seven years he's laid The Subliminal Kid to rest. With this new 12", the chains have been locked in and the road map has been obliterated. EP1 is focused like a laser etching out intricate patterns in massive, humming machines. Mannerfelt's ideas have been reduced to a razor's edge and he balances these freeform compositions like a master. This EP could be seen as a prelude to Peder Mannerfelt's debut album under his own name that will be released by Digitalis Industries in February and at the same time is the first part in a ongoing series of self released records by Mannerfelt. Opener "Hook (end)" crashes like waves from a metallic ocean bearing down on the shore. The bass craters beneath, digging its way to the listener's core. Each idea is stripped down and simplified to the point of near exhaustion, resulting in tracks that are relentless and infecting. "Psalms and Songs and Voices" is propelled forward by crushing kick drums and rhythmic bass pounding. Somehow, though, Mannerfelt works unsuspecting hooks in between the peaks. It's incredible. "With Psalms and Songs and Praises," the final track on this 12", everything is pushed to the limit. This is absolute maximalism; an overload of the senses that cannot be escaped. It's the opposite of everything else on the EP, combining everything into a single, massive escape. This is the sound of machines humming. This is the sound of the factory floor in rebellion. And yet, this is only the beginning; the first chapter of a novel yet to come. This is the sound of Peder Mannerfelt finding his voice.
