Obscure Shape & SHDW represent the new generation of German techno, they took over in a very small amount of time their own space, and they showed that their sound can fit in many different places. Now it's time for them to join the label with a stunning debut that represents all they did in this years, but even better what they want to aim for in the future. It's a refined release. Four full length tracks that are extremely helpful in any occasion from clubs to pure raves and warehouses, there is no real rule, it's all about energy and power. Welcome to Obscure Shape & SHDW.

Most recently Jacek Sienkiewicz had been mainly preoccupied with with experimental music - his explorations of outer limits of sound resulted in 3 albums released already in 2019, with two more to follow by the end of the year. So, It was good and perhaps refreshing to hear his surprising return to the dancefloor with “Lightin", an unexpected Summer afterparty anthem released digitally in June. By popular demand, it’s now released on vinyl in its full, 11+ minutes glory. Lightweight, gentle and tuneful, propelled by a syncopated rhythm, it rolls like a steam engine taking you to your favourite holiday destination. Side B brings us another new track - “Tracker” is definitely built for clubs and designed for peak time moments, be it in a cramped, dark basement or a big room at a festival. This EP is Jacek’s first new club-oriented record on his Recognition label since 2016’s “Hideland” - and a teaser for an all-new album, due next year.

‘Camargue’ gets a fresh treatment on Drumcode, as a handful of techno’s finest give new life to an R&S classic - with six mixes from the likes of Enrico Sangiuliano, Adam Beyer and Layton Giordani, Maceo Plex and Keith Carnal spread across two EP's.
Coming from the studio of CJ Bolland and Portuguese journeyman The Advent, the track was born out of a golden age of Belgium dance music and first released in 1992. It stands as one of the most treasured pieces of vinyl in Adam Beyer’s collection and this six-part compilation of remixes and remakes marks a highpoint in Drumcode’s history.
For part two, Enrico Sangiuliano delivers a trademark cosmic rework underlined by tribal bass stabs and twisted synth lines to accompany the famous riff. It’s an outstanding remake that’s already a big summer favourite for the Drumcode crew.
On the B side, Adam Beyer and Layton Giordani unleash their own groove-injected, future-focused adaption, all the while never losing sight of the misty-eyed spirit of the original. Rounding out the package The Advent drops his own fresh version, a whip-smart cut that chops and changes between pounding drums, dreamy synth interludes and warbled effects.
“Camargue is one of my favourite tracks of all-time and has been part of my life for 25 years. To put it out on Drumcode with fresh remixes is a dream come true.” – Adam Beyer

Modularz is back once again with a stellar release this time from seasoned producer Paul Ritch. The French native is here to deliver five tracks of pulsating techno
breed for the club and another project that adheres to the flagship. The Modularz sound has become so distinct and this EP showcases those rhythmic bouncing basslines and deep riding kick drums. Nuit Blanche is four tracks of punchy dancefloor driving kick drums that are coupled with eccentric modulations and synths. Expect underground crevice hidden chords deep textured and dripping sounds. Some cuts deliver sci-fi alien beeps and stabs that would make any martian jealous. The hi-hats are icy and the snares hype inducing: no matter the pace each cut is a weapon.

Photonz is the alias of Marco Rodrigues a DJ, producer and driving force of Lisbon's underground scene. For little over a decade now, he's been crafting his own deeply personal style of Portuguese house and techno. As a DJ, Photonz grew a reputation for deep crates and intensely euphoric sets and in 2017, together with Violet (co-founder at his Radio Quantica) and Lisbon's own Rabbit Hole collective, he started the now infamous Mina parties - a monthly, sex-positive, queer and intersectional-feminist techno party aimed at using the dissociative potential of intense raving to create a temporary space of suspension away from patriarchal expectations.

'Nuit' is Photonz’s debut album and a simultaneous reference the Egyptian Goddess of the Stars or Night. Marco was really swept away by the concept of ‘freedom of form under the night sky’, the accepting embrace of Nuit. Ancestral, but also socially advanced and utopian; a deification of the night time. These ideas manifest themselves as eleven songs spread across two LPs that wax and wane like the moon. Photonz channels early techno, Drexciyan rhythms, balearic & atmospheric house; layering sounds, creating moments. All songs have been mastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in a royal blue and neon yellow jacket with duality/birth symbolism and trance-hieroglyphs designed by Eloise Leigh. Each copy includes a glow-in-the-dark sticker and a postcard with notes.

For fans of Demdike Stare, Raime, Caterina Barbieri, Kangding Ray, Christina Vantzou and Laurel Halo! In her most personally narrative work to date, A Fossil Begins To Bray is the follow up on Dais Records for NYC producer Hiro Kone (AKA Nicky Mao), furthering the dialogue set forth on her 2018 release, Pure Expenditure. While the statements on Pure Expenditure rallied behind a point of dangerous excess and injustice, the material on A Fossil Begins To Bray embark upon a journey of discovery and self-analysis, proposing a potential reorientation towards absence in hopes of illuminating potential futures. In Mao's own words, "This album considers the power of absence as neither a lack or deficit, but as a quiet, indeterminable force to cultivate in this time of looming and unrelenting techno-fascism. It asks that we take pause to consider our learned languages and actualities and to better consider how desire shapes our recollections and interpretations of this 'existence.'" This allegory is expertly applied to every song on A Fossil Begins To Bray. Mao has established a long history of employing absence in her productions to maximum effect. In future times, culture historians will refer to Gabor Schablitzki aka Robag Wruhme as a creator of a singular techno sound, a rock in the murky sea of arbitrary musical dullness that befell mankind in the early 21st century. Furthermore, a lesser known quality of Schablitzki will be praised and explored: He was a relentless wordsmith, a deeply passionate inventor of elegant idioms that enriched German language. Take ‘Freggelswuff’ or ‘Wemmel’ as shining examples. It’s within this context that a certain cultural artefact released on a Cologne based record label called KOMPAKT (which towards the end of the 21st century made a hardly publicised turn to manufacturing CO2-neutral wall plug systems) that went by the sonorous title ‘Topinambur’ has to be mentioned. Legend has it that Schablitzki claimed to have created the word ‘Topinambur’, unknowingly that local farmers have been marketing a root tuber under the same name since it got imported from America in 1610 AD. The following tenacious copyright lawsuit between Schablitzki and a large agricultural consortium lasted for many years. It isn’t considered as a highpoint in Schablitzki’s turbulent life but it still serves a staircase wit that is passed on from generation to generation amongst Black Forest moonshiners.

A testament to the growth of Adam Beyer’s scene-leading label, Drumcode annual A-Sides Vol.8 is the brand’s biggest yet.
The 25-track strong compilation, split across 7 EPs, features standout cuts Beyer has received over the last 12 months, but been unable to find room for in Drumcode’s regular release schedule, such is the volume and high standard of music that’s submitted.
Part 1 sees Layton Giordani drop the stirring chord-driven ‘Chrome’, whilst Veerus follows up his powerful DC release with the fierce ‘Prophecy’ and BEC makes a blistering debut with ‘Hypersphere’.
The highlight-rich compilation also includes Jamie Jones & Darius Syrossian’s buzzy Drumcode debut ‘The Grid’, Nicole Moudaber’s first DC release in 5 years with the mesmerizing ‘This Is Us’, Will Clarke’s bass-drenched re-work of Adam Beyer & Bart Skils ‘Your Mind’ and Joey Beltram’s first Drumcode release in 11 years with the retro-tinged ‘Can You Feel It’.
The beloved Alan Fitzpatrick returns to the fold with the searing ‘Heiße Rakete’, while the exciting Hyperloop project links up with Upercent for the slinky loop-driven ‘Rouge’, alongside label mainstay Wehbba with ‘Mantra’, combining techno classicism with future-focused groove.
There’s a troupe of debutants donning the Drumcode jersey for the first time, including Shelley Johansson, Avision, Zimmz, Woo York, SAMA (in a terrific collaboration with Secret Cinema) and Ilija Djokovic, who delivers a shimmering highlight with ‘Aura’, a particular favourite of Beyer’s over the last year. Raxon also debuts on the label after a couple of quality additions to the Truesoul back catalogue.
Exciting young guns Weska and Juliet Fox bring heat to the compilation, while Timmo follows up a strong DC release with a repeat dose. Elsewhere faithful contributors Ramon Tapia, Jay Lumen, Luca Agnelli, Marco Bailey and Mark Reeve craft powerful dancefloor weapons

Like a phoenix from the ashes, the mighty Cécille Records is back. Established in 2007 by Nick Curly and Marc Scholl, Cécille quickly became a trustworthy and steadfast purveyor of deep tech-influenced music. With its reputation for quality unsurpassed, Cécille helped stimulate a shift in the underground scene, brining back soul and sensuality to music. The label also attracted a wealth of talent, with these new releases marking their new focus on rhythm, groove and melody in todays techno heavy dance floors.
Making his debut on Cécille is a producer that needs little introduction: New Jersey’s Harry Romero. Over the last 20 years, Harry’s music has sound tracked the great dance floors of the world. Tracks such as diverse as ‘Cro-Magnon’, ‘Tania’, ‘Night @ The Black’ or ‘Mas Pito’ (as Mongobonix). Now signed to every high-profile label around, from Subliminal to Crosstown Rebels via Bambossa, his constantly shifting, consistently groovesome beats and super-distinctive drums have cemented him as a world class act.
‘Mood Vision’ see Harry in a playful frame of mind. Disco nuances drift into earshot as the rubbery bass and crisp percs keep time. Modular synths add energy and tension during the drop when all hell breaks loose and your hands automatically reach for the heavens: like early Basement Jaxx brought bang up to date, this one flies. ‘Purge’ is deeper, more percussive of the two. Another rubbery deep house bass takes hold of the subtle tribalism and draws you in to its hypnotism. Picking up pace midway with extra percussion and a keyed lead line, its heads down all the way to the final beat.

After the 10" appetizer we gave you this summer, here comes the big deal: eight cuts of the new Seleccion Natural stuff, this time cooked alive, by the four founding members reunited at Oscar Mulero's studio, eight hands, four brains and a bunch of hardware and software tools colliding to redefine the standardized sound of today's techno. Only those who were there in the beginning can understand in depth the sound design and groove of an always-futuristic sound as pure techno is or should be.

It asks that we take pause to consider our learned languages and actualities and to better consider how desire shapes our recollections and interpretations of this 'existence.'" Synergising their respective studio prowesses and harnessing their accomplished hardware artistry has helped establish Neon Chambers as a modern symbiosis of atmospheric, contemporary club sounds, and multi-rhythmic machine-driven sonics, the two producers have set out on the beginning of a new era of electrifying, astute sound design, and breathtaking modern electronic music.
The duo’s debut EP, One is a whirlwind of crushing modern sonics, that is equal parts jagged rave, progressive dub-fuelled two-step and night time-ethereal IDM. Throughout all five-tracks, the producers wield a wicked awareness of state-of-the-art sound design, that makes each kick cerebral, every bass-sound an epic vibration, and every synth a futuristic cacophony of finely-tuned noise. The sounds are an amalgamation of everything that has made each artistic unique in their own right, while correspondingly helping create something new. ‘Apollo’ is a prodigious working of melodic synthesis, with delicate, and rolling breaks, while ‘Cascade’ moves into a more grandiose, heavenly territory, befit with trance-like, precision synthesis. ‘What it takes’ brings on board a more UK, post-dubstep sound, albeit one with more craft, and sonic mastership. ‘Your Touch’ toys once more with atmospheric rolling breaks and solemn vocal samples, while ‘Helles’, the closing track, is an excursion into more compelling, auditory realms.
Neon Chambers is the new project of UK producer Sigha, and French artist Kangding Ray. Sigha, aka. techno producer James Shaw comes from a steadfast background in abstract and grounded techno, with previous works on Token Blueprint, Avian and his own Our Circular Sound imprint. Kangding Ray, aka. David Letellier, has made a career for himself with genre-breaking and experimental sonic adventures that have taken him across such era-defying labels such as Raster-Noton, and Stroboscopic Artefacts. In 2019, he also started his own imprint ara for more bespoke, avant-garde releases. The duo came together to create Neon Chambers to further extend their analogous ambitions, and create bigger, and more daring live and audiovisual performances.

This is the debut release from Frankyeffe on Noir Music and something we have spent a lot of time putting together. Three original tracks have een crafted perfectly over time. Two of them (Determination and Out Of Focus) are banging acid tunes and the last one (Seriousness) has a little more laid back and melodic vibe. Tauchen has done an excellent remix of “Determination” making it more industrial underground and Industrialyzer has brilliantly made “Seriousness” a prime time stomper. In short a fantastic package from which you will probably end up playing more than one track/version.

Microdosing is a series of compilation 12”s selected by Julienne Dessagne aka Fantastic Twins, and designed in collaboration with French visual artist Geff Pellet. Microdosing is a collective experiment aimed at helping you fighting back your modern obsession with happiness. You may deserve a nice day but the day does not need a nice you, nothing should be forced, everything is permitted. Microdosing will provide you with sonic healing weapons on regular basis and at irregular dosage. Those doses will favour psychedelic social techniques against self help tyranny, creation over soma, provoking over numbing, our outer-selves over our inner-selves. Microdosing refuses the fatality of the pleasure principle. Life is a struggle, time to embrace it. —— “The cure 4 pain is in the pain” The Microdosing community is an endless Tibetan geometric tattoo on a thousand backs, a black well opening on infinite space. Let us embrace the void in our lives as it is fruitful. Cooper Saver hails from L.A, a city of fallen angels. “Phase 0” is a demonic weapon of choice, its beauty rising from urban ashes. Borusiade’s “Worlds” is an industrial mantra, tribal rhythms driving you through the seven circles of agony, the voyage being the destination itself. Zillas On Acid’s “S-Test” slowly pours acid into your retina, its groove showing you that the blind are the true see-ers. Scott Fraser’s “Deliria” concludes this chapter with the serenity only known to true martyrs. This is not a soothing piece, just the realisation that peace comes from eternal damnation. Microdosing is happy to lead you through the dances that know no threshold. To the chant of “the only cure for pain is in the pain”, you will travel further through an empty eternity. (Ivan Smagghe)

Throughout the festival's history, RDC have been fortunate to constantly encounter performers and DJs who've collaborated with them in establishing a beautiful dance floor year in, year out. This time around, festival regular DJ Nobu kindly opens up his collection and shares the music he loves with us all. On visual duty we welcome Senekt - his representational yet contemporary drawing illustrates the emotion we feel from DJ Nobu.

Counterweight started at the end of 2015 as a party-series in Munich (Rote Sonne). It was about pushing the style of techno we stand for and which we couldn’t find easily in our city. During this journey we’ve learnt a lot about what somehow sadly has to be called a business and we met many artists and people involved in the Techno Scene. We even made friends throughout the years and that’s one of the nicest things after all.

The first V.A. release on Counterweight is an installment with some excellent artists we met during this time, we love their music as much as we love them as a person. Four years ago we couldn’t even imagine we would release a record with some of our favourites artists … Now, check this out. Heavy Kick-Drums, destructive basslines, distorted hi-hats, mesmerising melodies and…lots of passion.

As the year draws to a close TAU unveils its latest release, with German duo The Cheapers handling business this time around. On this two-tracker
we also get a rework from highly respected producer Dave DK, best known for his releases on labels such as Pampa and Kompakt.
The EP starts off with the title track, ‘Poem’. Throbbing bass frequencies intertwine with a sonar-esque fm-bell to establish a serious, purposeful
mood. A chilling, detuned vocal sings in Spanish intermittently as The Cheapers tease in a variety of unsettling effects. This unusual, yet stirring
cut epitomises the TAU sound, emotive, deep, dark and moving.
Next up is ‘M10’, a stoney-faced rumbler with more strange atmospherics and eccentric production. This is the sound of two experienced producers
enjoying themselves and flexing their musical muscles. Relatively simple in its architecture, ‘M10’ shifts and evolves steadily, the energy
building in subtle waves keeping you engrossed from start to finish.
Dave DK steps up to remix ‘M10’, giving it more bounce and an assertive rhythm. The pace is quickened, though the morose mood remains.
Dave’s ability to cultivate solid dancefloor movers is clear here as he demonstrates his knowledge and experience with an uptempo reinterpretation.

After Het‘s last output in late 2017, time is finally due for HET004. The 12“ vinyl is written and produced by eftechr, a Berlin artist with a very unique approach to electronic music. The 4-track-EP "Albula" spans from rich and evolving textures to a dark techno experience. eftechr builds upon selfmade conceptual recordings, obtained from treatments of physical matter. Carefully arranged layers tell their stories, pushed by full kick and bass, enriched with an array of undogmatic percussion. Downtempo Albula is a smooth rafting down the forlorn valley. Albula (Edit) adds some torrent and surf to the trip. Tinizong on the other stumbles through a loaded field of deep drones, uplifted by 100 seconds of alarming revelation. The antipole to his atmospheric constructions is set by the labels favorite Anja Zaube. She filtered Tinizong for its basic elements, and transformed the material to a floor-oriented, hypnotic and metropolitan remix, that is as straight forward as can be. Mastering & Cut made by scapemastering‘s Stefan Betke. Artwork: eftechr & OVL.

- 2021 repress / comes in stickered sleeve - Study the past if you would define the future. The label keeps going beyond thinkable boundaries with another release that will define an Era, at least for us... most likely there are records that will sign a defining moment because of the music itself, some for the emotions that a record will evoke when is played, this is a record that collects all of those emotions in one place. We are glad to present you [krtm], an artist that is well respected and known in his world and surely he doesn't need any introduction, but this is his first time with us, and we are more than proud to show you our love for his music and his devotion.

- 2022 repress -

Mancunian maestro Setaoc Mass returns for his second outing on Soma with the Fortnight EP. Drenched in his typical hard hitting, meticulously produced style, Sam's latest Soma 12" has him at the top of his game with 4 top quality tracks + a special bonus track for the digital EP.

"Time" opens the EP with a particularly hypnotic sound and a definite driving pace as swelling and pulsing background atmospheres give this a quite aggressive backbone. "Bluebells" is yet another dance floor rocking track that hits the ground running right from the start. Razor sharp poly-rhythmic structures keep the track interesting while intense percussive workouts provide the power. Title track "Fortnight" delves deeper whilst still remaining true to Sam's direct and tough sound; don't let this deeper side fool you, all the hallmarks of a proper banger remain intact! "Chaos" closes out things with a more groove laden and emotive tone as shuffling percussive elements funk things up before subtle synths work their way in giving the track a more melodic feel than the previous. Digital Bonus, "Necessary Evil", is a straight up, no nonsense dance floor workout.

Play It Say What Records and Isaac Basker return after a 5-year hiatus with White Souls Lost (Part II), providing 4 styles of Isaac’s distnict, “thumping” take on American house music designed for dancefloors, headphones, or contemplating human existence. Never shy of controversial track titles and themes, a trend that can be traced back to previous collaborations with Public Enemy as a hip-hop DJ and turntablist, Isaac cuts right to the chace again focusing on the state of the “soul” in post-Trump America.
On the title track, A1 “White Soul’s Lost (Part II),” a play on words of Nas’ “Black Girl Lost,” Isaac calls into question the state of some white folks’ souls in an appropriately emotive banger that starts with Afro house- oriented congas and layered deep pads until guitar solo-like chord riffs build to a layered crescendo. From this point on, to its conclusion, the track keeps the listener on high.
A2, “So Lonely Here” brings a definitive Isaac sound influenced by his experience growing up dancing in clubs to vintage NYC deep house. The track provides a deep, dusty, almost lo-fi-esque vibe geared to be a perfect track for an early set or afters. Isaac’s love of simple vocal drops in part from his background as a turntablist comes into play again as a lone, sexy female voice casually reminds us of their feelings of isolation, and is a double entendre on the state of lost souls everwhere.
B1, “Noisy Neighbours,” evokes that “thump” Hard Wax once labeled some of Isaac’s tracks. Created in response to noise complaints, a coded reference to Trump supporters, and even Isaac’s world football allegiances it could be categorized “deep house techno” but this ain’t no tech house. Heavy kicks bump over choped up live percussion as a lone pad keeps it deep, and then an analog bassline reveals the underground, grooving along to vocal drops that demand the listener to “Stop, look and listen.”
Lastly with B1, “A Paradox Now!” Isaac’s love for titles derived from word play refers this time to Francis Ford Coppola’s classic film “Apocalypse Now!” The track teases with mellow keys laid over strong 909 drums and a prominent minimal bassline as it builds slowly over panned high hats. However, it then flips from chill to bumping as a live percussion sample arrives along with a repeated Terre Thaemlinz influenced vocal that proceeds to drive the track to its peak.

Following the success of last years Babe Roots EP, Echocord revisits the package with reworks from Forest Drive West, Mike Schommer, Felix K, DB1 and Babe Roots themself. London’s DB1 leads the package with his take on ‘Work Hard’, a mostly beatless interpretation fuelled by oscillating white noise, winding dub chords and snippets of the original’s dub reggae vocals. Hidden Hawai’s Felix K then ups the energy levels with a high-octane take on ‘Sufferation Time’, driven by upfront, shuffled and distorted drums and unfaltering, tension building dub swells.

Portland’s Etbonz is once again making waves through his brand of cybernetic machine funk. With releases on labels like Bahnsteig 23 and Love On The Rocks it’s no wonder his more subterranean efforts would find a home on Dark Leader. The A side consists of Etbonz’s deliciously dark and epic electro disco take on the theme from 1984’s THE TERMINATOR. “The Future Is Not Set” transports you through time and space on a mission to save the future of humankind. Side B kicks off with “Magic By Human Minds” a robotic workout with a heavy psychedelic, broken beat feel. The final track “Melt FM” finds its footing as industrial techno then takes a quick detour into the realm of electro and finally morphing into dreamy ethereal house. The perfect track for changing up the vibe. Dark Leader 006 brings us yet another release which lands somewhere on the spectrum that spans between techno and disco.

ANNA drops a triple dose of heat to mark her first EP on Drumcode.

ANNA first debuted on Drumcode with the irresistable groover ‘Portable Paradise’, which highlighted last year’s A-Sides Vol.7 and set up a busy year playing DC events in 2019.

There was the memorable morning set at Space during WMC, two fiery gigs at Drumcode Festival and typically strong performances at the DC takeover at Resistance in Ibiza and Sonar. Fresh from her collaboration with Kittin ‘Forever Ravers’, she steps up for a maiden EP on Adam Beyer’s flaghship label.
‘Galactic Highways’ is propelled by an arresting peak-time riff and bombastic drums and was a storming addition to Beyer’s set at Drumcode Halloween recently. ‘Dimensions’ is the powerful brain scrambler, as a blistering wall of acid rubs shoulders with undulating bass notes for an dramatic finish.
‘Phase Two’ is a stirring, pad-laden beauty, driven by lustrous melody lines that cascade over the Brazilian’s punchy percussion.

Kicking off the year in style, with a new album by someone we've greatly admired and whose music we've followed for many a year; the mighty William Burnett aka Willie Burns / Speculator and Black Deer. We first were introduced to his music through the wonderful Grackle remix by our pals T.Keeler & Capablanca. Over time we've followed his many aliases with much enjoyment and can still recall hearing the first Black Deer music being played one afternoon in Phonica and Neeeeding to know everything about it. There's also fond boat party memories in Stockholm soundtracked by the UTTU release. Not to mention WT Records putting out some brilliant records by now familiar faces - our favourites include Art Crime, Kartei and Tummy Tummy!

Sometimes you want something so badly you don't even know to ask for it in the first place. Like Adam and Eve stumbling upon the fruit of knowledge — or psychedelic techno wizards Donato Dozzy and Retina.it (aka Lino Monaco and Nicola Buono) producing a pitch-perfect, vintage-styled minimal wave record, filled with icy synths, shuddering bass, and anthemic vocals, sounding like a lost gem unearthed from 1982 for the first time.
Except it's not — this record is brand new. The three Italians first came together under the moniker Le Officine Di Efesto, releasing an EP of murky left-field techno on Dozzy's own Spazio Disponibile. They quickly discovered a shared love of classic post-punk, wave, and synthpop, and not long after, Men With Secrets was born.
"Men With Secrets" might sound like an old-school synthpop act you've never heard of, but the name is actually borrowed from Richard Bone, an early New York electronic musician and minimal pop pioneer. The trio's name is but one of their many homages — Cabaret Voltaire, The Human League, New Order, and even Dopplereffekt are additional reference points — but this album is neither imitation nor rehash. It's just as carefully and ingeniously produced as you'd expect a record from Donato Dozzy and Retina.it to be, except it's filled with poppy hooks so brilliantly catchy they'll stick in your head until you hit 'Repeat' and find yourself singing along.
These Men With Secrets clearly have their tongue placed firmly in cheek: check the record's title and artwork for proof. But the music is deadly serious. The drums hit hard, the synths soar to emotional heights, and the vocals intone rhythmically. All of it's coated in the warm fuzz of analogue tape. Not many records on The Bunker New York are as likely to be played in goth clubs as they are by adventurous techno DJs, but then again, this is not your average Bunker New York record.

Dark Entires is proud to release Fortunate Isolation the sophomore album from BORUSIADE. Born and raised in Bucharest, Romania, Borusiade aka MIRUNA BORUZESCU started DJ-ing in 2002 as one of the very few female DJs in the city’s emerging alternative clubbing scene. Influenced by a classical musical education, a bachelor in film direction and fascinated by raw electronic sounds, Borusiade first combined these universes in the construction of her DJ sets and starting 2005 also in her music production. A sound of her own has slowly crystallized, often dark with poignant bass lines, obsessive themes and by all means melodic. She has released EPs on labels like Pinkman, Unterton, Cititrax, Correspondant and Cómeme, who released her debut album A Body in 2018. Fortunate Isolation is perhaps Borusiade’s most personal release to date. Eight songs that capture a bystander witnessing the world as it undergoes drastic changes. We have disconnected ourselves from ecology, humanity, preservation, care for what surrounds us, for what is still alive. Borusiade adds, “| know that this place, our home has went through so many other extinctions, but | believe things will find their own way on this planet only once we are gone. Entropy creates a time-line but also a transformation—a new beginning.” The album’s sound is gloomy and powerful mixing sonic film sequences, rhythmic excursions and soothing yet obsessive vocals that touch one’s deepest senses. Lyrically the songs tackle themes of forgotten memories, spirituality, mortality, and destruction. All songs have been mastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Each copy is housed in a jacket designed by Eloise Leigh with decaying daguerreotypes against a rust color palette and includes an insert with lyrics.

Cryovac Recordings exists because craftsmen and artists work together to make it so. Cryovac enlists individuals that are true to their identity and expression. These conscripts are survivors that adapt and continue through techno's ever changing terrain. Cryovac works to expose the depth, creativity, and diversity of the Detroit underground. We believe that vinyl is the best format to inscribe our effort. It is our intent to leave a physical record of our time before we can no longer speak.
Brian Kage moves quietly letting his personal projects, various labels and collaborations be his voice. His production is marked by a big and lumbering sound pushed by a strong crispy percussion. His clear headed response to techno electro is a conditioning of a Detroit instinct. Kage’s drive to achieve his vision means escape from the box and into his own world. Andy Garcia and Mike Kretsch have a shared method of recording and editing that works naturally together. It is a mindset of minimally based 4/4 progression amid simple synth hooks and heroic rises. They build a free form improv jam and insert it into a mathematical arrangement. It is this duality of extremes in which their tracks find identity. The Garcia/Kretsch team endeavor to tell a story one melody at a time.

Sometimes, looking back to the tracks that have been most inspirational yields very interesting results. In the last couple of years these four tracks stood out and share a deep sonic connection. All artists produced music in the early/mid 80s, played in post-punk, experimental and EBM/industrial bands and transitioned naturally into the techno, ambient and trance sounds of the early 90s, while maintaining an elemental early 80s live feel in the process. It’s no coincidence that these tracks date back to 92-94, a time defined by rapid technological change and a major political landslide.
The fall of the Berlin wall seemed to herald the dawn of a new era of peace and prosperity. The Cold War thawed, a sense of relief took hold, the West appeared victorious and the future looked bright. The emergence of rave culture seemed to embody this world of endless technological possibility and future optimism, techno-optimism indeed. Fast forward to 2019 and this optimism has obviously faded into oblivion, where the dream of universal freedom turned out be the empty promise of free market hypercapitalism beneficial to a small elite only. But thirty years ago rave culture was the product of that change and felt like a new home for those who discovered it. All these tracks are a precursor to sounds we hear today, an integral part of an ongoing cycle of trends where successive generations take over from previous ones. Rediscovery of that moment in time and sound is what Transition is all about, a collection of penultimate tracks that define that era.

I have had the name and the idea for this release and upcoming series for years, but it wasn´t until now I felt the time and music was right. This new series will be my personal playground with no specific concepts and musical genres. Following my heart and ears. Being present. Being Noir. These tracks were created from a lot of live sessions and not so much from programming. I felt that gave my "man vs. Machine" interaction more nerve and real dynamics. V1 is emotional and dark. Gritty and raw. A true reflection of how I like my music in 2020. Each track has personal depth for me and feels like the perfect fit for my first edition of the Stimulateur series.

Can music be classic and contemporary at the same time? Can it contain a secret genetic code in which the summary of the past, the present pulse, and the future view are hidden? Be ahead of its time and not lose relevance along the way? “Let’s Call it A Day” the first album collaboration of German authors Move D (David Moufang) and Benjamin Brunn, which first appeared on a CD on Bine Music in 2006, now remastered by Calyx and on Vinyl for the first time ever, proves it is not only possible hypothetically, but can also live amongst us.

Drumcode starts 2020 with a sterling EP from genre hero Thomas Schumacher, his first on the label after a long association with Adam Beyer.
No ifs or buts, if you’re a techno fan, Thomas Schumacher holds a place in your heart. His 1997 classic ‘When I Rock’ still gets rinsed, he has a vast body of stellar work on his influential former label Spielzeug Schallplatten, including a release from Adam Beyer, and he continues to deliver pin-sharp productions via his Electric Ballroom imprint, including a scorching remix of ‘The House of House’, the 1994 classic from Cherry Moon Trax. The rework was first played by Beyer at Time Warp and has been a 2019 highlight.
He first contributed to Drumcode in 2018 with ‘The Unseen’, a stirring contribution to ‘A-Sides Vol.7’, setting up a maiden EP with ‘Crimson’. Crimson’ is crafted around two minutes of tension-building synths, before a beat finally appears and a rasping deep bassline commands the dancefloor. ‘Feist’ is a no-nonsense brain melter, as 303 arpeggios bloom and recede, creating a thrilling rhythmic intensity throughout. Lastly ‘Anker’ brings the rave with eagle-eye focus, unleashing a wall of fierce acid to round out off the release.
“Adam and I have both been producing and playing techno since the early ‘90s. I have deep respect for him as a person and artist. It’s an honour to have the opportunity to collaborate in this way.” – Thomas Schumacher

"Everything Not Yet" is Marcelle’s ninth vinyl-only release for Jahmoni Music from Munich and follows on from last year’s ‘One Place For The First Time’ which swiftly sold-out and is now onto a repress. The 10" vinyl is released alongside her latest album "Saturate The Market, Now!" featuring a shorter album-cut of ‘Everything Not Yet’ among nine other tracks. So are you sitting comfortably? Well Marcelle would prefer if you weren’t. Because this is music for misfits to move to. The very opposite of business techno. More unheard edits from Len Faki‘s personal vaults on this release, harking way back to the mid-’90s and their relentless, hard-hitting styles. Chicago legend Robert Armani, also still hailed as one of the originators of hardstyle by many, makes an appearance on the A-side. And it‘s that characteristic, punishing kick sound, which is still present in the modern edit, carrying on the original‘s obtuse force albeit shrouded in a much more ominous and austere veil. German IDM-duo Funkstörung well left their mark on the millennium’s last decade. Even with their side-project Musik Aus Strom that restricted itself to a series of forward-pointing, no-nonsense acid-techno albums. Len Faki picks out a track showcasing the raw and vital essence of that Acid Planet-time and molds it into a soaring, sizzling and well-balanced tool, tricky and perky at once.

Following their last “Thirst Ep” released on Instrument of Discipline in 2019, the duo Diasiva (Monolog and Swarm Intelligence) returns with a five tracks work on the Berlin Imprint Arboretum. While addressing the environmental issue of the human impact on natural ecosystems, Microplastic Ep seems to embark upon a journey of deconstruction of Techno, IDM and Bass Music towards futuristic paradigms. Here, gritty broken-beats, wisely mixed with titanic basslines, an ominous dystopic temper seems to simulate the contemporary unrelenting strain, fading at time either into kaleidoscopic-visionary synthlines archetypes or cinematic rarefied epilogues for a comforting utopia. Franky Rizardo announces the launch of his new label, LTF Records with four-track EP ‘Primrose’. The culmination of a number of years hard work, the Dutch DJ, producer, promoter and now label head proudly presents an outlet for his own music.
Encompassing an immersive feeling of energised focus, involvement and enjoyment of his journey within the industry so far, LTF Records (Listen To Flow) is Franky Rizardo’s new platform to transport its listeners and followers into a flow state of mind.
One of The Netherlands finest exports, Franky Rizardo has established himself as an international touring artist, as well as name renowned within his own country. Being an ever present on Dutch national radio station, SLAM! has provided him with the perfect platform to develop and nurture a label that is crafted with clear intentions and identity. Building a career based on strong philosophies, Franky has consistently aimed to do his own thing, keep everything in perspective and most of all, having fun.
From ingraining himself within the ANTS and elrow camps, to releasing on labels such as Strictly Rhythm, Rejected, Saved and 8Bit, Franky has become a name synonymous with deep driving house music that blurs the lines between Techno and House. The multi-faceted Dutch artist has also represented himself and his brand FLOW, at events such as Tomorrowland, Fabric – London, Shelter – Amsterdam, Amnesia – Ibiza and Soho Garden Dubai, further cementing his status as a one of electronic music’s most dynamic individuals.
Across four-tracks on the ‘Primrose’ EP, Franky focuses his energy firmly on the dancefloor, keeping people locked into his flow state. Opening with ‘Primrose’, the tracks low-end rumbles throughout, supplying the perfect atmosphere to keep the crowd moving. ‘Faze’ offers a wonky blissed out vocal alongside stabbing synth. Whereas ‘DC Terrace’ is a nod to the peak-time movements at Ibiza’s famous club, DC10. Closing the EP ‘Clouds’ provides an energised up-tempo focus track to engage to zone.
The label launches at time when authenticity within the industry is key, Franky continues to focus on his own output, never taking himself too seriously and always keeping full perspective on the task at hand. Inviting you to join him with LTF Records, Franky wants you to enter his flow state.

A download code is included. It’s taken Yotam Avni a little while to get to his debut album; almost a decade, really, since his debut 12”, “That’s What The World Needs”, on California’s Seasons Limited imprint. During that time, the Tel-Aviv based producer has refined his productions, tightening the groove and paring everything back to bare essentials; the power in an Avni cut is its combination of piston-pulse propulsion and a deep, but gently applied, musicality. This combination gives his techno productions added heft on the dance floor, but also a lyrical sensibility that places him squarely in a tradition of techno legends who somehow manage to make the four-to-the-floor a space of poetic intensity, of rigorous joy. Avni’s been on Kompakt’s radar for a while, first appearing on the label last year, with his Speicher contribution, “Mañana Mañana”. (“Track For Agoria”, from that EP, also appeared on Total 19.) The connection immediately made sense – dance music that managed to feel both lush and streamlined across the same great gasp of late-night energy. But with Yotam Avni Was Here, he’s taken a huge leap. After a brief intro, Avni sets his stall with “Beyond The Dance”, which features slow-moving vocal melisma over sculptural, melting tonalities, a tintinnabulating, harpsichord-like two-note phrase pacing out the track. Then “It Was What It Was” comes into view, its strip-light textures suddenly placed into sharp relief by a muted trumpet figure that hangs in the air, melancholy and pensive.

Featuring classic and seminal tracks from the likes of Levictus and Krome &Time, alongside a host of rare and little-known ragga & junglist hardcore tunes from the likes of Babylon Timewarp’s hypnotic Durban Poison, Rhythm for Reasons’ mad ‘The Smokers Rhythm’, The Freaky rave-y breakbeat sound of ‘Time and Age,’ Trip One’s super dark ‘Snowball’ and loads more!
Expect super heavy basslines, equally heavy twisted Amen drum loops, even heavier ragga vocals! Original jungle style – roots and culture – from the earliest days of drum and bass.
Included with the first edition of the Black Riot vinyl and CD is a very limited-edition free graphic mini-novel “Black Riot: The Mysterons save Planet Earth from the Xatheroid Angels.” This is the third collaboration between writer Paulo Parisi and Soul Jazz Records. This new graphic story continues the story of black electronic dance music – this time set in London circa 1992 and continues onwards from Soul Jazz’s earlier ‘Invasion of the Killer Mysterons’ (Jamaican electronic dub, co-compiled by Kevin Martin (The Bug)) and ‘Mysterons Invade the Jackin’ Zone’ (about Chicago Acid & Experimental House 1986-93).

Iconic cultural engineer and prolific music pioneer Daniel Miller, aka The Normal responsible for the timeless post-punk / wave classic “Warm Leatherette” and founder of Mute Records, collaborates with avant-techno artist Nicolas Bougaïeff to instigate another revolution with the inaugural release as Populist on Avi Caspi’s newly founded imprint The Temple and The Low Dive. Miller and Bougaïeff provide four purist modular techno explorations that are prepared to carry the listener into stellar dimensions. Introductory A1 track “Center” is a sophisticated, minimalist, stripped down piece with dynamic elements and a cinematic aesthetic that introduces the mood of the entire EP, defined by spectral micro movements and a touch of liquid textures. Further navigation through the EP reveals more of the aesthetic intent while, at the same time, retaining a specific uniqueness found in each track. There is a definitive interstellar cosmic feeling throughout that brings the future back to the present and with B2 track “Temple” we discover that Miller and Bougaïeff are no strangers to a provocative and discerning dancefloor. “Temple” guarantees ecstatic dance floor moments that define experience. The digital bonus track “Dogma” continues to keep up the pace and here is what will be imminently essential for any serious purveyor of explorative techno to include in their repertoire. This first installment on The Temple And The Low Dive gives us something that is as special as it is unique, paying homage to one of electronic music culture’s most admired artists and icons, and introducing the world to new artists and proponents of the global electronic scene, Caspi and Bougaïeff. our fundamental natural nature is pure chaos, without any concepts being added to it. The actions you perform were formed when time began. And so the light is merely a temporary twin of the darkness. And therefore evil is a part of you. Do not try to seperate it from you , for then it is given agency. Permisssion to be. Embrace the tiger that exusts within you, it will only strike from a distance. In Zen, the sword that kills is used to kill that which can be killed. To remove that which can be removed. That which gets in the way of nature. Veteran Techno producer *’Heretic’ returns with his solo project Catharsis and has evidently succeeded in refining his musical vision. With Into THE Heart OF Nothing he compliments a soundasthetic which had been initiated with his previous release A Purging of Demons. Mastered by Black Mononlith Studios…

Beijing-based duo Zaliva-D returns with a second installment on Knekelhuis. After last year’s great EP, released on Shanghai label Svbkvlt, Zaliva-D unleashes a new record in these unreal pandemic times. At its core is a concept of data’s capacity to overcome any boundary, whether that’s physical, digital or mental. The material at hand, created after the second European tour, pushes heavily through walls, with bombastically accentuated kicks. Blended with joyous, psychedelic songwriting, it is a testament to the power of music to unite despite involuntary confinement. Artwork by Fenna Fiction. Mastering by Brandenburg.

Some serious hot tracks on this fourth instalment of the Scandinavian Swords series. It breaks with its predecessors' forms. Deviating from the austere brevity that marks Northern Electronics out, Scandinavian Swords IIII: Atlas of Visions completes a survey of the label's confidants and components in the same breath as it introduces a swarm of new artists and genre-collisions. With the swell of the last 12 months behind them, Anthony Linell and Jonas Ronnberg have forged the compilation with a paradoxical formula: Atlas of Visions stakes itself as a milestone release that retains the sure-footed programming of its proprietors yet cuts a new silhouette for what the platform of a Northern Electronics release consists of. Presented across two volumes, Atlas of Visions courses through the hyper-pigmented and infectious fallout zone between club-focused works and the abstract territories of experimental modes. The release compiles egression and intensification into a pandemoniac whole, a refracting design for fractured times. Recommended!!!

Coyu has a great time driving on rough roads. Techno paths where craft, not innovation, is the draw. The music on 'Post Raw Era Iii' is relentless, hitting hard with plenty of muscle.

Seven years after its inception, Eaux is proud to announce the first solo release by an artist other than Rrose. As a member of the Sandwell District collective, David Sumner aka Function was instrumental in cultivating the Rrose project. After releasing the first three EPs and album by Rrose between 2012 and 2013, Sandwell District terminated their mission abruptly, prompting Rrose to start a new label (Eaux) for solo projects and collaborations. This EP brings history full circle. Following closely on the heels of Function's mammoth 3lp/17 track album "Existenz" for Tresor Records, this EP takes similar themes as a departure point, but moves into more mysterious, yet also heavily dancefloor-focused terrain. "Binaural" encapsulates the timeless essence of the Function sound with menacing bleeps, cavernous stabs, and a sense that it could go on forever without losing its grip on the listener. "Desire and Memory" is a broken beat track drenched in modulated drones that feels like an infinite spiral, moving simultaneousl forward and backward in time. Function's early Sandwell District records defined the "hypnotic" techno sound that has influenced countless artists (including Rrose), and this release plants those roots in new, fertile ground.

Introducing new sounds into the continuing Manhigh project with Azteka Tekno, emerging Moscow producer Ober Dada finds rare power with his refined combinations of EBM and techno. Fusing concepts from Dadaist, Futurist, and Suprematist art with vocal guests from the Krasnodar Opera on ‘Tomorrow No’ and ‘Erdefalt’, the sophistication of his vision is immediately apparent in the arrangements and structures. With lyrics sourced from World War I-era apocalyptic poetry and a forthcoming opera from the artist, these two efforts show uncommon complexity in their running times, with layers of vocals and melodies trading off in sections with punishing rhythms that move between lashing breakbeats and straighter 4/4 sections. The comparably straightforward title track prominently features the producer’s own snarling vocal refrain, repeated through heavy distortion over pounding kicks and wayward electronics, while a contrasting melodic sequence enters from the breakdown for needed relief. Again featuring Ober Dada’s voice, ‘Hey’ foregrounds its wandering keyboard line for a comparatively restrained but still intense study on the styles found across the record.

The #1 Best Selling Track for 2019 in Electronica / Downtempo genre on Beatport, Namito - 'Stone Flower' sees a new vinyl release featuring a previously unreleased, and vinyl only, remix by Satori. It also serves as a teaser for Satori's upcoming full length album on Sol Selectas Records. Iranian artist Namito, who has made quite a name for himself over the years in the Techno scene of Berlin, diverges from this tip for 'Stone Flower', putting a new twist on a Persian classic. Creating a hypnotic deep house groove, with ethereal uplifting lyrics, listeners and dancers alike are taken on a journey to a time when Persian culture was at its peak of creativity and freedom. Namito heard this traditional song at a family gathering in Iran, sung by his 2 sisters Mojgan and Marjan, and was instantly moved by its beauty. He invited his sisters into the studio the very next day to record their vocals, and the result is 'Stone Flower', which pays homage to the Persian tradition, while embracing the modern edge of electronic music at the same time. For this special vinyl only remix, Satori winds his way deeper down into the electronic abyss, with a reinterpretation that maintains the original Persian vocals, but also blends in elements of an old Afghan interpretation of the same classic song, creating a tougher, club-leaning version. The artwork by Helia Jamali, also of Persian decent, takes us into the mystical world of ancient scared geometry and displays the beauty of her home country Iran.

Finland’s Luke Lund is one of the most inspiring modern dub aesthetes. Using odd number time signatures, warped bottom end, and proper experimental murk, Hopium creates fiendishly innovative electronic groove and atmosphere. Existing in a far away land tucked north of techno, dub, and noise where all blend and connect, Hopium is a wise encoding of fear, frustration, anxiety, and false hope. Luke Lund’s sound is unquestionable sincerity of exploration, equally inspired by Finnish electronic masters such as Mika Vainio and Ilpo Väisäinen, as well the legends Justin K Broadrick and Mick Harris – as such, absolutely at home on our label. Releasing on labels such as Youth, Co-Depedent, Totes Format, as well his own encyclopedic Terranean Recordings, Luke’s catalog of work continues to expand as does his global profile – assisted by touring Europe and playing at venues from Berlin to London to Helsinki. All tracks produced and recorded at Solace, April 2018 – June 2019. Mastered by Daniele Antezza at Dadub Mastering Studio. Design by Luke Lund. Executive producer Kurt Gluck.

Limited to 200 copies, this release is the fifth and final ep of the 5 x 12" from the Thomas Brinkmann Retrospektiv 5xlp box set. The 5 individual 12" will be released through 2018/19. Thomas Brinkmann is one of the great producers of Techno music and modern dance music. He initially gained notoriety in the experimental electronic music and Techno community for his full-length 'variations' of material by Wolfgang Voigt under his Mike Ink moniker, and Richie Hawtin. The variations were made by playback of the original artist records on a turntable of Brinkmann's design, which has two tone arms with separate outputs for left and right channels. The turntables were then pitched down from 33rpm to 27rpm and the results recorded and mixed. Both Voigt and Hawtin were sufficiently impressed they released the results on their own labels. Since then Thomas Brinkmann has produced some all-time classic dance tracks, many of which are collected here in what is a personal selection by Thomas Brinkmann himself. There are unreleased tracks, different versions, and tracks that have never been released on vinyl.

In 2019 it was time for R&M to throw a marker down and so came “Manifesto For A Modern World”, the debut album comprised of tracks from the “$ocial £utures”, “Hope Tragedy Myths” and “Citizens” EP’s plus some additional songs. This album is basically a greatest hits of Randolph & Mortimer. A statement of intent. All killer and no filler. The original limited edition CDs and tapes sold out and it had some incredible reviews. A Model Of Control called it “An absolutely outstanding release” and super cool New York DJ Andi Harriman (Synthicide) made it one her of top 10 albums of 2019 on Post-Punk.com. So here we are in 2020 and the Randolph & Mortimer story has seriously stepped up a gear with this double vinyl version of the album featuring all Manifesto tracks plus the acid styled dance-floor favourite “Apply Yourself” and four brand new tracks (“Crystal Peaks”, “Stateless”, “What Are You?”, “Fantasy Land”) which make up a whole new EP.
