4 The Core Recordings presents their second vinyl release in the form of Fibzy – The Deirdre Barlow EP. Fibzy is a very talented producer who makes some lovely breakbeat hardcore but with a slightly harder and more modern edge than the original old skool sound. These tracks have blown the roof off everywhere they’ve been played, from Internet radio shows to raves. It is very much old skool vibes with a contemporary twist.

Ramos is a name synonymous with hardcore from the 90s, usually working with his friends in Supreme and Sunset Regime. But this is something different from one of the south coast’s finest. Producing solo but utilising the amazing vocal talents of his muse, Elayne. This EP features 4 very differently styled mixes of one amazing track. First is the Breakbeat mix, which is in the style of early hardcore rave music, when breakbeat first met piano. Then it’s technically the only remix on the EP, from Stu Chapman. Stu does what he does best and sets his version firmly in the 93/94 era of hardcore but with his own twist. On the flip side, Ramos takes his own spin on the later breakbeat hardcore style. It has a 1995 vibe to it with all the energy and vigour you would expect from Ramos from that time. Finally we round this EP out with a more chilled version in the Deep Breaks Mix. This is the version you listen to when you wish to unwind after a heavy night if raving.

For the seventeenth edition in our Again series we are very excited to have Amphibian Crew emerging out of the depth to joining the family. Four wet and wild cuts produced back in the day and remastered for the occasion.

Following on from last year's debut release in the Myor Massiv “LUV” sub series by Coco Bryce, this time he teams up with partner in crime FFF for another slice of lovey dovey junglism. FFF kicks things off with “Never Let You Fall”, on which he juxtaposes moody synth riffs with uplifting reggae vocals, making for an alienating yet strangely attractive combination, before delving into Amen mayhem extraordinaire. On the flip Coco Bryce opts for a higher cuteness factor on “Lovin U”. Not necessarily aimed at the dancefloor, but with an undeniably “junglist” feel to it, this little number is probably best described as a “love song for the heads”, although its ultra low bass frequencies are likely to rattle any sub woofer in the best of dub traditions.

This limited edition 10” is very limited in numbers, and features an exclusive remix from rising star Knuckles in a new old skool style, plus a classic, never previously released and lovingly remastered version of the massive Midas track Break On Thru! Get In!

Halogenix raises the bar once more, flipping between the light and the dark of his "Gaslight EP". Sharp eared listeners have attributed the sound of the breakbeats to one artist, while others are as convinced their deductions from the sound of a bassline can attribute the production to someone else. Perhaps it’s who they think? Maybe it’s not? Possibly it’s a collective of artists? All we can say is that Disciples Of The Watch make great music! Back in 1992 the Dance In Peace EP received an incredibly limited white label run and was only available from a handful of specialist record shops. The scarcity of this release means that it has now reached near mythical status and has seen it selling for as much as £200 on the second-hand vinyl market. This EP is now getting the very long overdue full release that it deserves, with all tracks expertly remastered & cut to heavyweight black vinyl. Demo & Poet are from Swansea in Wales. Vinyl Fanatiks purposely set out to track them down as we wanted to try and cover as much of the UK as we could with our represses and we didn’t have anything from Wales. Not only that, it was a very scarce and much loved hardcore record from 1991, which, like all the labels releases, was very expensive on Discogs to buy.

Originally released on the bands self-funded label Boom Toon Records as a handstamped and stickered white label and hammered in the raves back in the day by Loftgroover.

We have done a small repress of this mega Ellis Dee release that came out originally on his CAT Label in 1994 and was repressed by us in 2021. This has been sold out for a very long time but the demand has built up, so we have decided to repress one more time.

The Dragonforce EP could be the best work yet to emerge from the studios of Laurence Reading aka Halogenix. Flipping from the Japanese comic book influence of the title track to the beautiful future soul of Independent is something not many other producers are capable of. Tekina brings even more ingenuity with a delicate light/dark fusion whilst Reminisce is awash with warmth and ethereal feels. An essential EP.

One of the pioneers and long-standing masters of drum and bass, Jack Smooth returns with one of the most eagerly awaited releases of the year. This sublime two-tracker shows Jack at his absolute best with the shimmering dream-like soundscape of Himalaya wonderfully complemented by the deepest bass and the cleanest beats. Sapphire's on the flip is just as strong making this a true double A side of the finest underground drum and bass.

"The making of this album first started as a recollection of music and sound design I've produced over the last couple of years for events and installations - interactive and immersive AV experiences. It was like creating a specific atmosphere for visitors where I'd take them into this sensorial but artificial experience within a very confined spatial domain. This is how the "Climats" concept emerged.

Longer ambient and generative pieces thus found their own space in my repertoire, allowing me to explore more in-depth, non-linear execution with soft, moody and padded textures. Eventually, all this freeform material became available so I could extract parts of it to build more club-centered and straightforward tracks, but nonetheless, the list grew and all this softer-edged, more introspective works were aggregating over time.

At the time of the lockdown, it felt very natural to get back to it and finalize it as a cohesive whole. It was a very healing and a smooth process to work on these. From isolation, I could open this window to thoughts where I made up my very own Science Fiction story while working on the music. I really wanted it to be a one-hour soundtrack experience that I'd listen at home or driving while my mind would travel across all those musical scapes. It was never a formalized script, but the music spoke for itself with themes of anticipation, collapse, utopia, the world as we know it, the near and far future...

Creating the album was quite a sporadic production process that stretched over several years but it all came together and made a lot of sense in the context of the title I chose : Terraform. The narrative of the album simply unfolds from Dawn to Dusk, and the listener navigates through the different climates that each track embodies."

Release one carries a killer V.I.P of Sith that featured in blames recent and very rare DJ appearance at a VNR event in Germany. Lost Science on the flip was produced in 1998 and appeared in Blames Logical Progression Sets from those days.

The series will build with each release culminating with a collectors box to house the series.

Tim Reaper returns with a weighty masterclass of all things old school jungle, rave and D&B.

After a massive year for the rising London-based DJ/producer Tim Reaper, with an impressive output of twelves on labels such as 7th Storey Projects, Repertoire, Beyond Electronix & his own imprint Future Retro. On top of this, Reaper was also nominated in the 'Best Producer' category at this years DJ Mag awards, as well as the 'Best Remix/Edit' category. 2020 has paved the way for what is set to be a massive future from the versatile producer, his infectious brand of high energy jungle & D&B is making him the producer on everyones lips.

His latest outing 'Teletext EP' explores deep all things bass driven, head high rave breaks sit on top of euphoric vocals and synth patterns, creating a feel good masterpiece. Tim joins forces with long time friend & collaborator Devnull on two tracks, blending both of the producers individual sounds into a hybrid mash up, which works oh so good.

We wanted to celebrate the music of integral Samurai family member Last Life by revisiting his Samurai contributions with remixes from artists Mauro saw as best candidates for adding a new perception.

The first in this 2 part series enlists two fellow Samurai Music family members and titans of the Techno / wider electronic musical sphere - Donato Dozzy & Reeko.

Donato flips Hidden into a driving 4/4 170 terse wind out, while Reeko rebuilds Tensor into a serpent-like groove around a thunderous kick.

We are writing the year 3021. The very first gene-manipulated virus-free post-covidians made it to carry their infra speakers back onto earths surface to play sublows for the concrete jungles, or whats left of them at least. They brought their ancient rituals and lullabies from their dungeons: sounding like a dark future of Dub without nice and happy skanking where only ruff and rugged dirty bone structures have remained the centuries below the planet's crust.

DJ Revive has been a long time label friend and a very talented producer, and we are honoured to finally have this long awaited EP released Second Drop. He has an energy about his music that makes people dance, and this breakbeat hardcore record will have you toe tapping and head nodding for sure! These tracks are a great homage to the 1994/95 sound and DJ Revive draws influence from some of the biggest names of the era whilst finishing it all off in his own style.

How do you follow up an EP like Champion Sound? By going even darker and harder, that’s how! And that is exactly what Q project did with this incredible EP. In 1993 the burgeoning jungle sound was coming into its own, and this EP encapsulates that perfectly. The sound is very dark yet still has great musicality and a sound that is clearly defined as jungle music today. This is one of the most sought after records from the Q Project back catalogue and with just a quick listen you’ll hear why.

Essex-based Nasty Rhythm is a raver from the good old days who turned his hand to making music a few years back during UKs lockdowns, causing a minor sensation on youtube after uploading his very first track. The raving spirit shines through brightly here, capturing the vibe of 1992 hardcore like lightning in a bottle on the 2 original A side tracks. Backed with pumped up remixes from The DJ Producer and Rognvald the whole EP provides a breakneck trip along the hardcore continuum.

Sunny & Deck Hussy bounce across the various Kniteforce labels with a speed and enthusiasm matched only by their music. But this EP is a little bit special. Capturing the early warehouse rave vibe perfectly, this is an EP of tunes for the breaking dawn of all night raves. That transcendent moment between night and day, when nothing seems quite real, and reality is a malleable future. Perhaps that is too much to lay at the feet of a 12” EP, but this EP brings that level of emotion, transporting an old skool head like me to that very moment…I am sure it will dot he same for others.

Need for Mirrors vinyl containing the tracks Coco & Witch Shark taken from NFM's new album "Flames". "We don't really do albums on 31, so it has to be something special, something a bit different and not just a collection of DJ tracks. What really drew me to this project was the vocal tracks that NFM had produced, they really are different and have a quality to them that I don't hear very often in DNB, coupled with the other experimental tracks and straight up rollers, this to me really is an excellent example of what a DNB album should be".

Ramos, Supreme & Sunset Regime were one of the biggest groups in hardcore back in the 90’s, and it was EP’s like this that gave them that recognition. Even after all these years, not only has this EP stood the test of time but it is also a very highly sought after piece of wax. So when it came time to have the original tracks remastered and repressed it was a no brainer. The RSR boys out done themselves with these tracks, but then the phenomenal Slipmatt remix Crowd Control was just genius and took the EP to legendary status. The EP is finished off perfectly with the heavenly remix of Gotta Believe with the super talented Donna Grassie on vocals.

Dj Beeno is a relative newcomer to old skool music, but an old hand in the Kniteforce world, with a few very strong releases under his belt on Kniteforce digital, and then on Kniteforce White (both EPs selling out in under two weeks), not to mention numerous high profile remixes. Aim 2 Pleez was a label made primarily for N-Zo & DJ Invincible to have an outlet for jungle in the early days of the genre but they definitely leaned more towards the more musical side of the sound. The label didn’t last that long but the end result is that the few releases on the label are now very sought after, fetching absurd prices on second hand websites, and this EP is in particular demand. They are two tracks of immense proportions, that not only appeal to the junglists but to breakbeat hardcore lovers alike. A proper crossover EP that has stood the test of time, sounding just as fresh today as it did back in 1994!

This EP is Justin Time doing what he does best! Making anthems that are instantly recognisable, uplifting vibes without the cheese. Sweet In Pocket is one of those tracks! No matter were you where in the club or rave, when you heard this coming in, you knew the dance floor was gonna rock. It is a close fought battle between this original and the DJ Force & The Evolution remix as to which is better, and either could win on any given day! Movin’ is another great track from Justin Time and on any other EP it could have been the A side title track but when on the flip to such monster track you are to be overshadowed for sure. Don’t let that distract you from its magnificence!

Whilst reflecting influences as varied as Billie Holiday, Gladys Knight, Tina Turner and Chaka Khan, Los Angeles-based Lady Blackbird (aka Marley Munroe) possesses a style and emotional intensity that is very much her own. Her forthcoming debut album Black Acid Soul presents a wholly fresh take on the jazz vocal idiom from an artist blessed with a bold, unmistakable voice. Last year Lady Blackbird released her spellbinding single "Collage" which saw her delve into a beautiful psychedelic soul sound, whilst still remaining close to her jazz roots. Rikers Island is yet another very sought after slice of wax from Q Project, this time with the aid of his long time collaborator, Dj Spinback. This track, with it’s two different versions, will cater to pretty much any jungle raver. The ‘On The Run Mix’ is the darker of the two and today would most definitely be called the ‘vip Mix’ for sure, but this is from a time where artists and producers where still inventing the music. Then the ‘Dream Mix’ is the more atmospheric version, the one that you would drop when the crowd isn’t as dark or you wanted to lift them back up some, and this track does that perfectly.

Manchester independent Dark Red Records brings it's 4th instalment in the form of a multi-artist EP from Ego-Free Sequences, rising new French talent Sqimer (also on mastering duties for this release) and label regular Darsk, all coming together to provide a satisfyingly varied selection of dark, meditative Drum & Bass and Jungle tracks which meld together classic breaks and editing with a distinctly modern and experimental approach, all finished in a wholly organic and listenable style. Feedback and support has been very strong across the board with two tracks played by scene legend Klute on his Kool FM show in February.

Five years in the game marks a very special milestone for In-Reach Records, a label born from a love of drum & bass music and a passion to share that love with like-minded individuals. What better way to celebrate that milestone than a compilation of the sounds and souls that have fuelled the labels journey so far. The artists behind all nine of IRR’s past releases have combined, along with some important members of the In-Reach family, to create this exquisitely emotive VA album.

Heading up the release is a very serious piece of wax dropping in September 2023. The 12” vinyl exclusive album sampler comprises two tracks that have been causing waves in the scene for some time. Kicking off with Kid Drama’s remix of ‘Another Place’, we have an expert re-work of an already awesome track from Sam Binary and Deviant. The hissing bass joins the drum break half way through the intro while the vocal sample repeats its mantra. As expected, a gear change hits on the drop with the entry of sub bass stabs, which take on an increasingly melodic form as they evolve throughout the track.

The legendary Madcap takes on remix duties for the B-side with his take on Greekboy’s & AKA's ‘The Jungle’, which first aired on LTJ Bukem’s Radio 1 Guest Mix in 2021. The stepping drum break enters from the outset, building atmosphere alongside the pads and vocal cries in preparation for the extremely weighty running baseline.

Detest returns to PRSPCT with a 10-track album showcasing the wide range of influences that have informed his productions and DJ sets for more than 10 years.

Since signing to the legendary Strike Records in 2005, Detest has been turning in hardcore banger after banger for labels like Deathchant, Rebelscum, Peace off - and PRSPCT, of course!

Paying homage to the past and his roots in tracks like "Oldschool Thrash" and "Sleep Knowledge", Glamorous Cool Kids Stuff is a listening album and party record combined, full of dynamic shifts in moods, tempos and styles.

From teasing industrial beginnings via plenty of signature Detest dancefloor slayers, and even a cinematic synth reprieve in "Movie XXL", this is best experienced from start to finish.

Originally released in 1993 on DJ Phantasy’s Liquid Wax label, it has now been repressed in conjunction with Vinyl Fanatiks on Colored Vinyl.

This is one of Phantasy’s many aliases. ‘Get On The Floor’ is a jungle-techno stomper, created in the same studio that invented that genre. Where as ‘Welcome To The Underworld’ has very strong Liquid Aliens vibes about it.

As always with anything on Liquid Wax, these tracks are big club releases as Phantasy was testing them out at all the raves in the early 90’s. But Phantasy always has a trick up his sleeve that makes his music sound incredibly original and still fresh to this day, 31 years later!

Originally Released in 2014 on Valentines day as part of the love dub remixes was the Ray Keith remix and for obvious reasons (Ray being a legend) it was a fav of the release & was very well supported by many, so we thought it was time or maybe even overdue (7 years Later) that us at Asbo released the connoisseurs 9 min extended mix from Ray we had stashed away in the Asbo vault all this time. This is 100% one for our vinyl & audiophile crew, supported on the AA side with Rassterlins 'People' and Muwookies 'You' both bringing unique different flavors from the jungle/dnb spectrum, mastered on 180 gram, strawberry milkshake colored vinyl with full color 'Lock-down' sleeve.

For Elevate + Help ME Find MY WAY it's House, House, and more House; and Heidy's effervescent personality shines through from the very beginning of the release with the peak hour Latin Jazz tinged "Elevate". "Help Me Find My Way" is next, on a more gospel and soulful tip thanks to uplifting vocals from Seta. Moving onto the flip side, RSD mainstay Pontchartrain takes "Help Me Find My Way" even deeper, complete with a DJ Tool outro. The Carry Nation close out the release with a more bugged out and breaky take of "Elevate" for the freaks.
