(10″, 150 copies, 3 variations of screen printed artwork) When I started Vrystaete Circle Bros was one of the names on my shortlist. There are various reasons why it took so long to realize a record together… but here we are… and this is how I imagined it and what I had hoped for… Circles Bros is Wim Lecluyse. Originally from The Netherlands but living in Belgium now for many years. He has been making and releasing his music since 2002… amongst others on his excellent Morc Records label. With his music Circle Bros is submerging you with hypnotic lo-fi ambient and drone music with a folklorish feeling and a psychedelic touch… His work has been shifting from more song based to ambient like pieces… or a perfect blending of that… “Waves/Peaks” came into existence when Circles Bros sent me a proposal for an album… but instead of releasing the complete album I proposed to make a record out of the two long mersmerizing tracks which were part of the selection he sent me… when in the dialogue about this the working title of one of these tracks turned out to be “Vrystaete” I knew for sure this was the right way for a Circle Bros record on Vrystaete… These two long tracks with a minimal structure are created with minimal means and minimal post-production… the tracks evolved out of shorter pieces and are “stretched” creating this dreamy and otherworldly vibe… This is music to sit back to and get into and let it come over you and flow with it… Music to experience and not talk about to much…

Having made initial waves on Cold Recordings and Osiris, Eric Baldwin returns now to Tectonic to release his eponymous album ’Cocktail Party Effect’, bringing his South London roots to Berlin for an all-weekender, under strobe lights. Drawn by his appetite for powerful rhythmical forms and inspired by the likes of Daphne Oram, The Residents and Captain Beefheart - Eric takes uses background in sound design, knowledge of hacking VST software and adapted spring reverbs and other hardware, to create a truly unique vision of contemporary electronic music. It sits somewhere between Jeff Mills, Aphex Twin & Squarepusher - held together by a connective UK Bass Music spinal chord. A weird but intriguing beast.

Following on from last year’s debut release on Cold Recordings, Cocktail Party Effect makes a welcome return to the imprint with 4 new genre-melting rhythmical workouts, charged and ready for the dancefloor.

Bringing his signature heavy freak crunch to the label, Cocktail Party Effect's "Oscilloscope Detachments" is the latest addition to the Midnight Shift catalogue.

Headliner A1 '77' dazzles in melodic glory paired with glitchy underfoot and a high-voltage wire running hot. Next, '88' lets it all loose with classic breaks twisted on its head and with its core intestines spilling out. Unexpected turns in this effect-heavy club composition recalls the phrase that "you've gotta know the rules to break the rules" and CPE is undoubtedly a master of that. '99' takes it further down South London style for the heads, while ambient closer '111' visualises the previously underscored oscilloscope in full spectrum.

Across these 4 dynamic 130bpm cuts, CPE demonstrates his sharp ear for creating tracks full of energising percussive twists, melding hard-charging, dynamic techno textures and while running wild with a UK sense of bass-heavy and percussive manoeuvres.

Welcome to Dublin's Woozy! Dublin’s Woozy label premieres on wax with Radial, the debut EP from newcomer Coe. 3 dubstep-informed club weapons b/w a percussive rework from Or:la. The title track recalibrates mid-noughties Fwd> pressure, suspending us in an E-licked smog before puncturing the rave-lry with thrusting bass stomps and fervorous IDM-adjacent drums for an electro-id crazed stomper. Say (KL Tribute) flexes Coe’s wub mechanics, presenting computerised sound chaos before dropping a half-step hungry wobble fest, mounting the pressure on the ‘floor to a near combustible, skanking peak. On the flip, 403 slightens the pace for a chugging techno/electro zinger with a faint dembow shell, sounding like the soundtrack to a sinister salsa dance. Or:la’s drum-tastic Radial rework sees us out, conducting an orchestra of percussive pistons akin to a ravey engine room for a mid-tempo grooving killer.

Comtron, the electro-duo of Dutch producers Bas Bron (Fatima Yamaha, De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig) and Rimer London (Le Le) collected their best work, only released digitally so far. MC Fats was a beloved figure in the drum and bass community, known for his smooth vocals and infectious energy on the mic. With a career spanning over two decades, he collaborated with some of the biggest names in the genre, including DJ Hype, Calibre, Alix Perez, and of course the multi genre chart topping Chase & Status!

Sadly, MC Fats passed away in March 2023, leaving behind a legacy of incredible music and unforgettable performances. But his influence lives on, and his music continues to inspire and uplift fans around the world. One of MC Fats' final releases is a new single called Anytime, in collaboration with Drum and Bass legend and producer partner Cool Hand Flex.

As one of Suburban Base original artist roster we were delighted to welcome them ‘back home’, and Fats was excited to see the reaction and plays the Anytime was already gaining. Having discussed with Flex, his dear friend and long-time collaborator, we together feel that it's appropriate that this release goes ahead as a tribute to our brother.

The track features MC Fats' signature soulful vocals, layered over Flex's classic jungle beats and modern production techniques. The single also includes an incredible remix from up-and-coming producer FreezeUK, adding a stunning version to the package which is already gaining maximum play nationwide.

Anytime is a testament to MC Fats' enduring talent and passion for Drum and Bass music. It's a reminder of the joy and energy he brought to the scene, and a tribute to his unforgettable voice and spirit. As we mourn the loss of MC Fats, we celebrate his incredible legacy and the impact he had on the Drum and Bass community.

da Googie is the solo project of Deb Googe, bass player with My Bloody Valentine, Thurston Moore Group and Brix Smith. Taking a bass IV, a looper and a pile of FX pedals, da Googie blends traditonal basslines with more abstract noises to make intricate, layered soundscapes.

Too Many Things are duo Marion Andrau (The Wharves/ Underground Railroad/Throw Down Bones) & Jem Doulton (Thurston Moore Group/The Oscillation). Marion & Jem play each other’s songs best described as gloomy noise, politico-romantic psych; expect well oiled electronics, guitar, keys and vocals leading you to an underworld reminiscent of the red room of Twin Peaks.
