Redshift is the latest band from US hardcore punk legend Vic Bondi. From being a founding member of political Chicago punk band Articles OF Faith, to his later bands Alloy and Jones Very, to later solo releases as well as more recent projects such as Report Suspicious Activity and Dead Ending, Bondi has been one of the most hugely influential figures on the US punk scene for over 4 decades.

Punter hail from Melbourne and their brand of noise is thrillingly intense. They describe themselves as 'a hardcore band described as a rock band', and it's difficult not to fall in love with a statement like that, especially when it so accurately describes their slalom between all-out axe heroics and to-the-point, in-yer-face-and-then-some punk ferocity. From the intro track's snarkily deployed job centre answerphone message ("Just say, 'in Australia, my voice identifies me'"), we're catapulted straight into the wholly-inaccurately-titled A Minute's Silence, which rages like Motörhead gargling bleach in the middle of a circle pit. This is likely the moment where you'll know that your new favourite band is here, and they're absolutely tearing it up. Thrill! To the anthemic hooks and glorious mob shoutalong of Retirement Simulator. Spill! To the guitars piling up like wrecks at a demolition derby on Curfew Eternal. Be fulfilled! By the joy of a very brilliant band being very brilliant at you. This record pulls from a similar formula to their citymates Stiff Richards, but with the ingredients thoroughly fucked about and the proportions changed to the point that any resemblance is minimal at best. By the time the sunny 'ooohs' of A Year's Silence get you thinking of proto-punk UK pub rock, you'll be ready for more power chords propelled by even more diamond-hard energy - Punter offer all this by the bucketload. Get involved, friends. Get the fuck involved right now.

Pressure Pin is a project that essentially came out of nowhere, from one Kenny Smith, the drummer of the new disco-art punk group La Sécurité. As Pressure Pin, his debut EP, Superficial Feature, is a four-song practice of art-punk and post-hardcore new wave and it’s frenetically mesmerizing. It’s a bit Squid and New Fries and I was hooked right as the weird pitch guitar and thick bass picked up on the opening track 'A New Movie.' The switch between the almost depressing robotic vocals and hysterical screams is lightning in a bottle. The mixing is also fantastic with a cacophony of horns under scratchy chugging guitars. The vocals also come off as public advisory statements as in 'Complete Impulse Directive,' where Smith categorizes exactly what is wrong with society, rhyming in prose that seems like a pure stream of consciousness with a surreal agitated edge. And the brief pauses between vocal takes are chaotic in the best ways possible."—Stephan Boissonneault, Pan 360

Total Punk is keeping things in Atlanta for a little longer. Following up GG KING's- Remain Intact with the new album from Predator—Spiral Unfolds. The two bands share members including Ryan Bell who masterfully recorded both albums. Atlanta has one of the best punk scenes going and Predator are its longest running practitioners. Despite the seven years since Predator's last full length Complete Earth and vocalist Brannon Greene splitting time between Predator and his other projects Hospice and NAG (both of which just dropped new albums) Spiral Unfolds shows the band at its strongest. The lead work is minimal but razor sharp and extremely effective. Brannon talk/sings the vocals but the hooks are so large that the understated approach lends them more assurance. Predator are kings of efficiency. Stating as much with what is there as what isn't.

Nyc's Porvenir Oscuro Are Back With Their First Full Length After A Very Distant Demo And 7". Made Up Of 13 Tracks "Asquerosa Humanidad" Doesn't Let The Foot Off The Gas For A Second. It Is Relentless Pogo Inducing Attack That Falls Somewhere Between Fertil Miseria, Rip And Early Chaos Uk. With Tunes Full Of Aggression, Melody And Fuzz In Equal Measure, Laying The Foundation For Vocalist Sara To Spit Her Vile. Lyrically The Album Deals With Modern Day Frustration, Showing Little Faith In Humankind And A Massive Dis-Respect Towards Authority Like Any Self Respecting Person Should. While Stand Firmly In The Punk Terrain Porvenir Oscuro Borrows From The Rich Worldwide Sounds Of The Underground Delivering A Fully Formed Sound And Aesthetic Which Is Their Own. Political Asylum were one of the most melodic Anarcho Punk bands, alongside with Zounds and Toxic Ephex. Formed in 1982 in Stirling, Scotland, they released a series of tapes, before having their first 7" released on C.O.R. records in 1985. This is their very first demo tape, remastered and released for the first time on vinyl. 14 songs of their finest; tuneful punk rock with idealist lyrics, fantastic guitarwork and very melodic vocals. Comes with a full size 4 page insert and a postcard in a deluxe double-sided printed cover!

The Pointed Sticks were formed in early 1978 and quickly became a big part of the underground punk / new wave scene in Vancouver, Canada, gigging with bands like D.O.A., the Subhumans and the Dishrags—they had a fun, quirky style that they combined with pure pop genius.

Their first single, “What Do You Want Me To Do / Somebody’s Mom,” was released in 1978 by the newly formed Quintessence Records. It quickly took off and led to the follow up “Real Thing / Out of Luck” single on Quintessence as well.

On the momentum of these instant pop classics, the band started touring up and down the west coast of North America, the crowds grew, and so did the press coverage. In 1980 the Pointed Sticks signed to Stiff Records and flew to England to record an album. Through bad luck and bad production, the album was never released (the Bob Rock production of the Perfect Youth album came out on Sudden Death in 1981).

Throughout their short career, 1978-1981, the band produced three singles and a multitude of demos and TV and radio recordings. The best of these have been melded together by Davie Wiese and Chris Cutress (producer of the fabulous Vancouver Complication album) into Waiting For The Real Thing.

On this compilation one gets to hear one of the very best bands of that great musical era at their most inspirational stage.

Planet ON A Chain or “P.O.A.C.” are hardcore lifers. People who never stopped feeling the angst and rage associated with hardcore, who never stopped trying to push themselves musically, who never stopped paying attention to the current sounds and styles, who don’t make music based on past glory, who still contribute to today’s hardcore culture without asserting that things were better in their day. The four members of P.O.A.C. are familiar faces. Vocalist Dave Ackerman fronting early-‘00s Tear IT UP, a sparkplug of a band from New Jersey whose shows were always one click away from devolving into complete anarchy, and the other three from Oakland, CA’s Look Back AND Laugh, arguably the best live band of their generation: a whirlwind of screaming guitars, drum rolls, long hair, and dreadlocks, all on one stage.

In year eleven of the bands existence, they finally fullfil every fans heartwish of a collaboration with one of the most important, most beautiful and most prominent voices in german-speaking punk! You got it: Franny Fränzen (B'schiszn, Telesatan, Sharizza).

Brezel Göring did record everything in his pee-ka-bo dungeon in Berlin-Kreuzberg and the only two citizen of honour of Chemnitz, Zomber (Pisse chauffeur) and Jan Kummer (AG Geige) worked on a very beautiful cover artwork.

And if this isn't already enough! There is a b-side track mith guest appearance by Bela B.aswell and the record was mastered via Melody Men in Texas. Yes, Texas!

“Pinhead Gunpowder started writing songs in 1990 and made our first 7-inch the following spring. Nearly every year since, we’ve met up to play. Some years we recorded—five albums and eleven EPs—and some years we played shows.

“But since 2010, we’ve been playing just for ourselves, something bands forget to do. Rather than ‘writing for the new album’ or rehearsing to get ready for tour, we went back to the basement every year. We lived in the house we’d built, remembering how we’d made the music for each other in the first place. We played all over the world—well, at least Oakland, Singapore and New York—but only for each other. We worked on the reissues of our back catalog, too and found ourselves fonder of each other and more family-like than ever.

“A new record and tour was only a matter of time, but between the members’ other bands projects, and families, that was hard to find. When we finally did, we were all surprised. We think it’s our best yet—our catchiest, most collaborative, and most poignant.”

— Aaron Cometbus

Pinhead Gunpowder is Billie Joe Armstrong, Aaron Cometbus, Jason White and Bill Schneider. Unt is fourteen brand new songs recorded in 2023 by Chris Dugan (Green Day, Weezer, Iggy Pop, Samiam, Swingin’ Utters etc) and mastered for all formats by Nick Townsend (Cheap Trick, Bad Religion, Iron Maiden etc) at Infrasonic Sound.

"Plastic Bullets" is an in your face instant punk classic. Its catchy melody, groovy tempo, singalong lyrics and pop sensibilities fit right in with the best the late seventies had to offer. The song comments on authenticity, the importance of staying true to yourself, and trusting your instincts: when you live life trying to be something you're not, you're just like a little kid playing cowboys with toy guns and plastic bullets.

Furious militaristic hardcore that sounds like napalm falling on a bomb factory. Defcon twists the screws on a world where lasting peace is a fantasy and people are in constant battle with inner demons and external devils. At best we can hope for brief reprieves between clashes. Man will not survive this endeavor. In fact, neither did P.S.Y.W.A.R. as they are no longer an active entity. R.I.P.

Svart Records present an official vinyl reissue of the debut and so far only album by the Eyehategod side project Outlaw Order, originally released on Season of Mist in 2008. Walking on a similar path as their mothership EHG, Outlaw Order do their best to push the dirty, sludge-ridden envelope even further. “At just over twenty seven minutes long, this is just fucking spot on for an album that aims to equate with the force of a double barrelled shotgun. The fury that explodes from OO% cannot be faked, and this debut makes compelling listening for anyone who digs the pungent New Orleans sound of EHG and their various associates, whether on parole, in remand, or currently serving time.” – The Sleeping Shaman

The uncompromising firecracker from 1982, the second OHL album back on vinyl! One of the German punk classics ever! The second LP by German punk veterans OHL has become much fatter than their immature debut. The production is much crisper, the vocals with their cynical bad news to political society fit. The songs are more catchy. Although OHL are not really a thrash band, they produced some very fast slabs of guitar-heavy power that will really strain the speakers at high volume (e.g. "Schrei, Schrei" "Warschauer Pakt" or "Belsen"). With "Nie wieder" they certainly have one of the most biting anti-Nazi songs I've ever come across. Recommended again and still!

Reissued for first time on vinyl the demo-tape "…Al Servicio" by the Chilean Punk/Oi! band Ocho Bolas! Since its formation in the late '80s, Ocho Bolas has been an emblem of the Punk scene in Valparaíso (Chile). The band was formed in 1988 and they gave their first concert that same year at the Mauri Theater (Valparaíso) when the Punk scene was still a resistance to the fierce Pinochet dictatorship. A year later in 1989 they recorded their first demo-tape "…Al Servicio" which contained 8 songs that were released on cassette by the band themselves (today it is almost impossible to find copies of that first edition). "…Al Servicio" is the closest thing in that corner of the world had to the spirit of the first Hardcore/Punk with direct lyrics and enormous honesty, without any pretension other than to shout about what bothered them and what was different a lot to what was done in Santiago at that same time, both in terms of lyrics and music. Ocho Bolas were much more aggressive and direct than other bands of the time. Already in 1991, they recorded their best-known 12” through the German label DIM Records. 1000 copies were pressed of the Mini-LP "Trabajo Duro" which also included a version of Cock Sparrer converted into “Yo Quiero a Mi País”. But that is another story… Deluxe edition with gatefold cover and insert including lyrics, cuts and old photos. For the EU version of the album 300 copies have been pressed on black vinyl and 100 on baby blue vinyl (this colour version includes an A2 poster as extra).

The first punk band from Peterborough, northwest of Cambridge, the Now spun off from the Faderz, with singer Mike McGuire, guitarist Steve Rools, drummer Joe MacColl and bassist Paul Wicks, later replaced by Faz Farrow. Debut 45 ‘Development Corporation’ charted, but the band split after ‘Into The 80s’; in 2002, German label Last Year’s Youth re-released the 45s, which led to Here Come The Now, where vintage songs share space with the re-formed band’s new takes of earlier work, a best-of-both-worlds approach that puts everything together in one place. A must for all fans of the Now and lovers of intelligent British punk!

‘Empires into Sand’ is the first album of new material from Normil Hawaiians in 40 years. The group first refined their sound during the early 80s, hitting on a pastoral experimentalism that drew on ambient drone, motorik impulse and post-punk pep.

‘Empires into Sand’ came together in the familiar manner of their original three albums, with improvisation and nuance informing the blueprint of the tracks. It was with the official release of this last record ‘Return of the Ranters’ (originally recorded in 1984/85, but then unconsciously shelved) in 2015 by Upset The Rhythm that led to the group reconnecting with the intention of playing music together again. Normil Hawaiians played a launch show for that ‘lost album’ and followed that up with more concerts, including an appearance at Supernormal, a residency at the Edinburgh Festival, gigs at Cafe OTO. They were even chosen by Richard Dawson to perform with him in London.

Throughout this time, Normil Hawaiians revisited their original songs for live performance. However for a group always so interested in evolving their sound, it came as no surprise that they shirked at the idea of a faithful retread. The band pushed their songs into new inventive dimensions, still progressive at core, but now imbued with a cosmic uncanny. A cinematic approach that was always quietly present has come to the fore. The quaint weirdness of folk song, the humanity of communal practice and the group’s ecological mindedness have all found a place in Normil Hawaiians’ current sound world.

When Normil Hawaiians write and record music they prefer to gather in a remote location and live together for a while, such is their communal ethos. Being far-flung across the UK, the Family Hawaii (numbering seven key members) decided to encamp to Tayinloan, a small village on the west coast of the Kintyre peninsula in Scotland. They set up their own studio in an isolated, windswept house overlooking the sea and started the tape rolling. Noel Blanden from the band explains the process neatly: “we set up and began playing, slowly and patiently, allowing the music to take its own shape based on where we were staying and our ongoing friendship. We recorded for days, capturing everything. A lot of new and rich ideas began to emerge”.

Normil Hawaiians took their time to develop these threads at their own pace, allowing songs to mutate and settle over months. Simon Marchant deftly produced and recorded the album whilst also

performing in the band, this marked the first time the band had total control of their own sound. The last few years has seen the band reconvene in Herne Bay, Faversham, London and Leith to record new parts, constantly responding to the changing form of these quietly spectral songs of defiance.

‘Empires into Sand’ incorporates samples from old rehearsals and live music into the new finished pieces, this is in continuum with their previous records. Snippets of sound from the static of short wave radio and satellite transmissions also embellish the work. In fact the whole album is stitched together with interludes, creating an acutely immersive 45 minutes. ‘Exiles’ opens the album amid swirling atmospheres, synth flights and recordings of Vilnis Egle (father of Zinta Egle from the band) retelling his experience of fleeing his home in Latvia during Soviet occupation in 1942. George Bikandy also features on this track talking about his flight from Syria in 2014. ‘Ghosts of Ballochroy’ is a winding river of a song featuring a lively discourse in Scots courtesy of Rodney Relax. There’s a commitment to truth telling present across this hopeful album populated with angels, incoming tides, long shadows and the rose-washed sun. “From our broken windscreen, we feel the breeze” soars Guy Smith triumphantly over the driving beat of ‘Waterfalls : Bedford 330’. ‘Big City Sky’ flutters and sparkles with rapid synth runs, tape-looped drums and Jimmy Miller’s commanding vocal. With ‘In The Stone’ Zinta’s melody is deliberately jagged and blunt, exaggerated by octave-layered vocals and interjections from Guy.

This is thought-provoking, boundary-bothering music. Honest in intent, a solidarity of vision. The album’s title is derived from a poem by band member Mark Tyler, who sadly passed away during the recording process and the transience of life is felt heavily throughout. Noel best coins the group’s wish for the album: “we wanted to create an album that acknowledges our history and also reflects who we are today. We remained true to ourselves and we wanted to make something beautiful without removing the edges.” ‘Empires into Sand’ certainly does that, it’s an echo from the past, an echo from the future.

NOi!SE is a band that has always dealt in pure honesty at every stage, from songwriting to performance. The listener is always guaranteed the unvarnished truth as the band members see it. However, there are many truths in life, and some of the hardest to put into words can be the truths imparted to those closest in your life, such as from a father to a son. Years ago, while serving in the military, lead singer and songwriter, Matt Henson, set out to gather his thoughts to speak his truth to his son Liam, in the event that the worst came to pass, leaving the young man to grow up without a dad. It was a message to offer the fatherly advice and encouragement he feared he may not be present to give, a truth imparted the best way he knew how: through music. Matt recorded a demo with bass, guitar, and vocals, with the intent of circling back to the song when possible. About a year later, his bandmates surprised him with what they had added to his original recording. As moved as he was by the gesture, Matt remained uncertain about releasing it given the raw, emotional honesty of a song written for an audience of a single loved one, as well as its degree of departure when compared to a traditional NOi!SE song. Ultimately, the band will continue to speak their truth on all subjects. The raw honesty and intimate truths in this song, which will resonate with parental figures and children alike, will be shared with the world on a limited-edition picture flexi, featuring artwork by Liam himself!

Recorded in Holland in 1990 and originally released on We Bite in the same year, "100%", their third album came as a very strong statement from a band in full power. Eight explosive, highly articulated tracks able to keep tension between the band's pure hardcore origins and a new kind of creative energy. A wider sound assault against any rigid stylism, including a distinctive taste for melody mostly expressed in the two tracks sung in Italian. Guido Sassola aka Zazzo - vocals, Roberto Farano aka Tax - guitar, Marco Mathieu - bass, Jeff Pellino - drums, an extremely cohesive unit caught in the midst of a natural evolution.

Repress on blue jay Colored Vinyl. It's no longer enough to just fight with yourself. On his third solo album, BOYSETSFIRE singer NATHAN GRAY sounds more political than he ever has since his band's very first records while at the same time recognizing that no protest can bring change without the people behind it. "Rebel Songs" transforms this realization into twelve tracks full of changeability that not only spread a spirit of optimism through their lyrical character, but also convey a sense of "we" stronger than ever through the involvement of numerous guests - most notably in the title track, which features TIM MCILRATH from RISE AGAINST. Nathan Gray also weaves in other exciting collaborators on a record that repeatedly brings up what are for the singer unusually snappy influences from archetypal punk heroes like The Clash or heartland rock in the style of The Hold Steady while at the same time daring to conduct many new experiments quite apart from any cherished structures.

My Boys are back in town!

The 3rd full-length from this brilliant but underrated power-pop band and I have to say I'm completely blown away again. I generally have a pretty low tolerance for bubblegum-punk, but Nancy do it absolutely perfectly. As on their earlier releases, they still sound a lot like the Jabbers thanks to their straightforward punk arrangements and rather high-pitched vocals, though Nancy are even sillier and more over the top than the Jabbers (this is like Muff Divers-level silliness I'm talking about here!).

At its core, this is simple, Ramones-influenced punk, and at the end of the day could be compared with 90s bands like the Queers or 00s bands like the Spits as anything else, and while that is a very crowded tradition, Nancy separate themselves from the pack with truly great songs. You may not want to like this, but once it's on your turntable I guarantee you'll have a very, very difficult time removing it.

There are a lot of options out there for dumb, sing-songy punk, but for my money Nancy are right at the top of the heap. I mean, it's your basic second-and-third-Ramones-LP influenced stuff (though their newer stuff is a hair more musically sophisticated and borders on power-pop), but the execution is completely flawless and the gleeful sense of absurdity is totally infectious. I mean, this is the band that has their own sea shanty!

It’s no secret that we are enthusiastic devotees of Joe Sussman’s work—he’s also a key player in Nancy as well as Dangus Tarkus and the outstanding MUFF DIVERS Dreams of the Gentlest Texture is the best thing he’s done so far. I’ve wasted a lot of time thinking (and having idle conversations, mostly with Seth and Jeff) about what makes a Muff Divers song different from a Nancy song or a Dangus Tarkus song, but I’m not sure there’s an answer to that riddle. The more important thing to note here is that—as good as all of those projects’ releases have been for some time now—each new one seems to be better than the last, and this is the best one yet.

Enough of promo words this is what real NANCY fans have to say:

„These dudes are like the modern day dictators“

„This reminds me of music, they sound like a band“

„Been listening to this everyday for like a year now... it’s definitely love“

„This HAS to be the best record of the last 10 years in my humble opinion! Definitely Ramones influenced but with a new and unique flair for songwriting, something a lot of these new bands want but can't but these guys JUST DO IT! A rare quality in today's rock.“

„Hot slab of wax from some real Chicago rockers.“

The flourishing Eastern European post-punk scene has given way to a boom of dark, rhythmic, and powerful new activity. One of the most original and captivating artists to recently emerge from this scene is Kiev, Ukraine's Morwan. The solo project of Alex Ashtaui, Morwan evolved from an earlier post-punk project, 563 (Pyat'shest'tri). Searching for a new direction, Ashtaui circled back to his half-Ukrainian, half-Arab roots, arriving at the perfect crossroads - a sonic aesthetic informed by both ethic tradition and the familiar territory of dark, driving post-punk. Ashtaui cites additional influence from contemporary Russian groups Utro and Shortparis, as well as the industrial/experimental sounds of Swans.
Zola-Zemlya, Morwan's second release, is an exceptionally original piece of work. It is an album that reaches to the furthest corners of post-punk, further revealing a deep connection to the ethnic sounds of both Arabic and Slavic tradition. There is a profound reverence for nature in Morwan's lyrics - as Ashtaui best explains, "The nature in songs acts as a fundamental force, a given from which you cannot escape. With the help of metaphors associated specifically with nature I tell about some of my personal experiences and stories." Zola-Zemlya is equal parts primitive and contemporary, as traditional Middle Eastern instrumentation and structures are woven through driving, modern post-punk rhythms. Morwan's genius shines across all five tracks, a sound both genre-expansive and futuristic.

The first vinyl pressing of Zola-Zemlya is packaged inside a full color jacket with lyric insert & download code and comes shrinkwrapped with a hype sticker.

Morning Again returns with their second in a series of EPs, offering up five brandnew, powerful, riff-heavy tracks. The lineup consists of vocalist Kevin Byers, guitarists John Wylie and Stephen Looker, bassist Gerardo Villarroel, and drummer Joshua Williams. Before the band initially dissolved, they released their farewell full-length, As Tradition Dies Slowly, in 1998, also on Revelation Records. When the idea of recording new material came up, it was unanimous on both sides to return where the music fit. Their 2018 EP, Survival Instinct, was tracked in California with producer Beau Burchell, who has recorded the likes of Saosin, Mooseblood, THE Bronx, and countless others. Band founder and guitarist John Wylie says, “The time is right for new Morning Again music. When we started playing one-off shows and festivals again in 2011, we realized not only do we have more material left in us, there seems to be a demand for it.” During the lockdown of 2020, Morning Again would use that time to create some new music that truly showcases the band’s musical evolution. Eager to get back in the studio again with Burchell, they created five new tracks that reflect how each of them experienced the time in seclusion. Borrowed Time take’s their sound one step further and includes some of the heaviest tracks to date. Wylie goes on to say, “We feel these are five of the best and strongest songs we have ever written and we are very excited to be able to present them with modern-day recording capabilities, something we weren’t exposed to in our early years.” Since recording, the band has been busy playing festivals and shows in Europe and North America. Appearances at Furnace Fest in Alabama, Hellfest in France, and Resurrection Fest in Spain allowed the band to give people a sneak peak of Borrowed Time

Moral LAW draws inspiration from the edge-metal bands of both the ’90s and of recent years. After experimenting with message and approach, the band has crafted their own raw and emotionally complex take on a style that has greatly influenced them all as both individuals and musicians. “Abolitionist is probably our most direct statement about our stance on veganism and the exploitation of animals. Everyone in the band not only believes in the ideals of a vegan lifestyle as an act of liberation, but we also are in full support of militant action for the sake of the animals in harm’s way. For those who are not familiar with Misery, they are a band from Minneapolis that started playing at the end of the Eighties and released many records during all these years without changing their style for the trendier shit or losing their incredible dose of rotting and angry power.

This record compiles their very first releases (except for the "Your Leaders Were Lying!" 7"ep because the band doesn't like the sound of it), so you'll find: "Born Fed Slaughtered" 7", "Blindead" 7"ep, "Children Of War" 7"ep and the two "Split" 7"ep's with Assrash and Hellspawn. A total amount of 13 tracks for nearly 40 minutes of dirty, pissed and stinky crust punk!

The Belgian garage punk quartet Mind Rays are back with their second album Course of Action, due via Swedish label PNKSLM Recordings (Les Big Byrd, ShitKid, Sudakistan) on October 25. Returning two years after the release of their acclaimed debut LP Nerve Endings, which saw the band recieve the attention of the likes of BrooklynVegan, The Line of Best Fit, DIY, GoldFlakePaint and more, the band's offering up another collection of furious garage punk. Recording with Pieter-Paul Devos of Raketkanon and Kapitan Korsakov, the album is a lean, high tempo punk rock affair that's imbued with a different kind of energy than Nerve Endings; it's polished without being pristine, and carries with it a new kind of swagger that speaks to the four-piece's sky-high confidence.

Originally released in 2008, Machine 15, celebrates it"s 15th anniversary with a long awaited vinyl repress, remastered for vinyl by Dan Swanö. With an impressive string of releases behind them, nearly two million records sold worldwide and having shared stages with the likes of Blink 182, the Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age, the Orebro based quartet of vocalist/bassist Nikola Sarcevic, guitarists Erik Ohlsson and Mathias Farm and drummer Fredrik Larzon show that they are on top of their game. While upholding the classic Millencolin sound, they chose to diversify, evolve and progress on the new album The explosive result is pop infused punk at its all-time best with driving beats, anthemic choruses and irresistible melodies that prove the band is back to kick ass and take names. For Machine 15, Millencolin re-teamed with producer Lou Giordano (Sugar, Taking Back Sunday, Plain White T"s), who previously worked with the band on 2003"s Home From Home. "We wanted the kind of crisp sound that Lou is notorious for. Plus we have a great chemistry with him," guitarist Erik Ohlsson adds.

Out July 26th on Don Giovanni Records, Waxbuilt Castles is the second full-length solo album by New Jerseys Mikey Erg. As the drummer and principal songwriter in The Ergs! and at least a dozen other bands, Erg has as sturdy a set of pop-punk bona fides as youre likely to find. Waxbuilt Castles is a departure, though. Recorded in collaboration with multi-instrumentalist Alex Clute -- who performed with Erg in The Chris Gethard Shows house band -- its a set of songs that takes its central inspiration from the melodicism and craft of 70s pop rock. In their production and arrangement, the songs emulate Ergs pre-punk musical heroes -- ELO, Elvis Costello, Phil Ochs, and especially the Beatles. I really wanted to make my version of Paul McCartneys first record, explains Erg. Homemade and very loose. Not too overthought. Getting there took a bit of adjustment on Ergs part. As a singer, he had to reconcile with hearing his voice in a quieter and more vulnerable context. It was funny to have to rethink the way I sang a lot of the songs, says Erg. Alex would say, Youre singing too forcefully, calm it down a bit. I had to get used to hearing my voice without this white noise behind it, masking it. Lyrically, though, its a Mikey Erg record through and through. Theyre the same type of songs that Ive been writing forever -- about relationships. Juts simple, personal songs, says Erg. Thats the through line, I feel. No matter what the record sounds like, its the same exact songs that Ive been doing. Its the thing that Im most proud of. That I can make a different sounding record, but that it still goes together. That is can all fit in the same box.

2024 re-release of Marching Orders' second LP originally recorded between February and October 2012 and released in 2013. This re-release contains re-worked and updated artwork plus insert jacket with full lyrics/band pics and credits.Living Proof was branded 'The best Marching Orders release ever' by reviewers and featured songs that are still played regularly at live shows today. From 'Dog Eat Dog' to 'Spirit Of 84' to the drumless ballad 'Hand Of Fate' there was a wide range of song-writing on the album to appeal to all. Rooted firmly in their Australian environment, the influences are evident with nods to the likes of The Angels and Rose Tattoo. It was around this time that the band started to peak domestically with an appearance at the Pugs Day Out Festival in Sydney to rave reviews. There was talk of trying to go abroad and tour Europe and America again but unfortunately it wasn't to be. With members unable to travel and very little time to rehearse, the band instead ground to a halt unfortunately. After more than a decade since its release and long sold out, it is only now in 2024 that this album is getting the recognition it always deserved with some tracks pushing half a million plays on digital platforms. With Marching Orders back together again with a strong new line up and a successful European Tour in 2023, it is time for 'Living Proof' to be made available again on vinyl for all to hear. And with new songs recorded and plans for a new release in early 2025, Marching Orders is back! SIDE 1:1. Dog Eat Dog2. Guilty By Suspicion3. Living Proof4. Callous World5. Nothing To Lose6. "What is going on with this German band? There are five members, but Maradudeur plays paper-thin post-punk as if it were a short-scale power trio. Some songs are en français, others auf Deutsch, some English. Mostly, Puissance 4's lack of standard post-punk signifiers just takes me to post-punk's raison d'être: to reconfigure, mutate and spark. Much like Palberta's excellent Palberta 5000, this is very much its own thing."—Lars Gotrich (NPR/Bandcamp) Truly a cool DIY package! One of the best kept secrets of the Italian Hardcore scene. Manimal took shape in the mid-1980s, in the tumultuous era of the roman underground uprising. They’ve been actually one of the first hardcore band – with label mates High Circle - rising from the ashes of the capital city punk scene. In 1985 they’ve been part of the historical German pack altogether with Negazione and Indigesti, a tour that made literally history ! In 1986 they recorded their sole self titled album. The record saw the light on the legendary Contagio Records and was a furious example of the contemporary attack to the system. Eleven tracks in total with three of them previously appeared on "Subject To Blackout," a cultish American tape compilation (with early Offspring, Excel and Attitude Adjustment). No compromise classic Italian Hardcore with fast guitar riffs, elaborate bass lines and hard-hitting drums. A necessary rediscovery that further delineates the greatness of the Italian scene in the early eighties.

Quatro Muchachos is the third Man-Eaters entry in an ongoing tale of crushingly primal punk rock that asks only one question of its listeners, will you raise your lighter to their rock? Inhale, hold, and release. Get ready for a lifelong addiction to the purest rock on the streets. Firing on all conceivable cylinders on this junior effort, the album works as a veritable best of for the band. The purest, and most refined Eaters effort to date. Bringing to mind the best elements of Hot steel and acid-era Nervous Eaters, The Album by Eater, tinges of A Minute to Pray a Second to Die Flesh Eaters, and the 70s psychedelic progressive Welsh group Man. Yet, neither nervous, children, or fans of prog rock, Man-Eaters third installment sways distinctly on a playing field of its own. Hailed the world over for their bombastic and crystal-clear sound and image, unforgettable, and sometimes forgettable live performances, and immortal hymns. Punk Rock Legends Man-Eaters have changed the lives of Rockers for more than four years plus. With powerful storytelling, their music and concerts bring to life universal themes like friendship, loyalty, and integrity. Man-Eaters unite people of all ages and backgrounds in a worldwide community, providing them with motivation and inspiration to achieve their dreams, overcome, and conquer any obstacles in their path, and to write their own history. With unfaltering courage, always true to themselves, Man-Eaters have endured and inspire victory to all who come to know them. They give their fans what they love them for; massive, powerful soundtrack of their lives, songs that celebrate the audacity of the individual and the spirit of the community. Deeply embedded into the inner core of the hardest of rock, dwells these quatro muchachos, unaffected by the modern world, hard at work erecting, and orchestrating the foundations of rock pillars that this entire world rests upon. The boys are back, and god dammit they’ve done it again.

Formed in late 1977 in Darlington, UK, legendary punkers Major Accident were initially influenced by the Pistols and the Clash. A very sad fate befell their early studio activities: both their first recording sessions in 1980, which was supposed to be their debut single (Terrorist Gang/War Boots) and the following one, which produced a completely mucked-up, unusable first edition of this LP, remained unreleased for years. It took until late 1982 for their first proper release to see the light of day: produced by Donkeys guitarist Neil Ferguson, their debut album Massacred Melodies finally came out on Step Forward, supported by a full UK tour with label-mates Chelsea. The distinctive 'Clockwork Orange' image (they were the first punk band to adopt the look from Kubrick's famous movie, which was banned in the UK at the time and impossible to see anywhere) and their song writing, by far more peculiar than the average Uk82 punk band, allowed them to grow a sizable following, and their classic sleeve artwork by Paul Dillon started appearing on the back of more than a few black leather jackets.

"At the very dawn of the 90s, Love Child's debut 7” made a splash on the burgeoning scene of shambolic bands and lo-fi recordings. Back then, they were mentioned in the same breath as Pavement, Sebadoh, or Beat Happening. But Love Child’s two great albums and sparkling singles have become the stuff of record collectors, unavailable vis streaming and out of print, until now. Never Meant to Be: 1988-1993 pulls from these releases and some unreleased radio sessions, unearthing a trove of lost gems by a band that could be the bestof all of the 90s buried treasures. Culled from their smashing debut 7-inch, their two full-length albums, another great single and some unreleased radio sets (including a Peel Session), Never Meant To Be has catchy hooks, gritty noise, sneakily-deft playing, brainy but blunt lyrics, and lots of other awesome stuff. Love Child were part of lo-fi’s beginnings, but also had the NYC pedigree to absorb predecessors like the Velvet Underground, the Voidoids and Teenage Jesus and the Jerks. (Their swirl of brightness, brains, and brawn led Byron Coley to liken them to a fantasy VU made up of Moe Tucker, Doug Yule, and Angus MacLise). Will Baum started Love Child while a student at Vassar College, bringing on classmates Rebecca Odes and Alan Licht. At first, Baum wrote the majority of the songs, bringing a Modern Lovers-like garage-pop attack to the band’s 19-song whirlwind debut album Okay? (Homestead, 1991) But Odes and Licht contributed songs as well, each with a distinct sonic fingerprint (One fan, Kurt Cobain, allegedly predicted Love Child would become the Fleetwood Mac of the 90s). All three members were happy to trade roles and instruments from song to song, but they also had some specific chops. Licht was a bit of a guitar prodigy, having taught himself how to tap like Eddie Van Halen, but versed enough in punk to know simplicity could be just as powerful. Odes’ bellowing bass was equally prominent, and her vocals could veer quickly from sweet to snarling, like Kim Deal or Georgia Hubley with a jagged edge. Take 'Asking for It' (taken here from a 1992 Peel Session), whose righteous slam makes it a proto-riot-grrrl anthem. Not long after Okay?, Baum left, replaced by drummer Brendan O’Malley. Love Child’s sound evolved too, toward a dronier zone not far from the bubbling haze of then-nascent shoegazers like My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive. On their next album Witchcraft (Homestead, 1992), smart hooks stretched into deeper ruminations, without any loss of brashness. 'Stumbling Block' turned a riff into a minimalist mantra, while 'Wait and See' took two melodies–one sung by Licht, one by Odes–and weaved them into the band’s most hypnotic moment on record. Love Child didn’t last long past Witchcraft, though it's not 100% sure that they're fully done (Alan and Rebecca have been rumored to be playing together again). But until that comeback emerges, Never Meant To Be should satisfy fans and newcomers for a long time."—Marc Masters

The Lipstick Killers released just one single in their life time – the perfect ’79 Deniz Tek-produced pairing of “Hindu Gods of Love” and ”Shakedown Usa” on their own Lost in Space Records and Greg Shaw’s Voxx Records - but a posthumous live album and a couple of archival releases followed. It was all incredible. All that material is included here, as is a plethora of additional stuff, all from the best-available sources (mostly original tapes).

The Lipstick Killers’ enigmatic and high-energy sound – heavily inspired by the Stooges and the ‘60s psychedelic punk sounds of bands like the Thirteenth Floor Elevators and the Chocolate Watchband – bridged the gap between Radio Birdman and subsequent Sydney groups like the Sunnyboys (whose first-ever show was opening for the Lipstick Killers), Lime Spiders, Hoodoo Gurus, the Screaming Tribesmen and the Psychotic Turnbuckles. And of course they anticipated generation after generation of other bands with similar things in mind, right up to today’s ‘60s-inspired freaks like The Straight Arrows, The Living Eyes and Thee Oh Sees.

Kronstadt Uprising took their name from the uprising at the Kronstadt Naval Base in 1921. Lenin referred to the incident as “the flash that lit up reality better than anything else”.

Formed in Southend-On Sea, Essex in 1981, Kronstadt Uprising survived six turbulent years with many members coming and going. However, far from being a negative factor, it produced a very stimulating and creative environment that lead to an ever evolving musical style that can be heard on this CD.

Founder member Steve Pegrum was encouraged by the self-empowerment message and ethos of punk rock. In 1979 he acquired a drum kit and formed several punk bands. By 1981 the scene was starting to fragment. The area of punk that now interested Steve was that which stayed true to the original DIY ethic and this developing scene encouraged Steve to form Kronstadt Uprising.

By November 1981 the band were ready to record. They recorded nine tracks and sent the tape to Crass who decided to use ‘Receiver Deceiver’ on Bullshit Detector Vol. 2, released in September 1982. Also in 1982 the band recorded ‘The Unknown Revolution’ EP under the production of John Loder and Derek Birkett at Southern Studios for Spiderleg Records. The record was eventually released a year later.

Late 1983/1984 saw the band move away from the confines of the current punk scene and concentrate on writing new material. However, after three years various members felt they had progressed as far as they could and in March 1984 they played their final concert in London.

In the Summer of 1984 Steve decided he wanted to continue playing, so a new Kronstadt Uprising emerged with a totally new line-up. In April 1985 they recorded the ‘Part Of The Game’ EP for local Dog Rock Records. The band continued to gig and increased their fan base, but diversifying music tastes within the band took their toll and they eventually decided to call it a day in 1987.

Always true to punk, but never happy being genericised or put into any kind of musical straightjacket, this CD shows the ever-evolving Kronstadt sound.

Limited to 300 copies, the 15 tracks feature both singles, their Bullshit Detector Vol. 2 appearance and seven studio recordings including one previously unreleased, packaged with a 12″ x 12″ insert with previously unseen photos and a detailed history from founder member Steve Pegrum.

Sorry State is excited to bring you a repress of one of the best hardcore records ever, Koro's 1983 7" EP. Originally released in a small, self-released pressing, over the decades this monster's reputation has continued to grow, and collectors now have to fork over well over a grand for an original pressing. This one is too good for the scum to keep to themselves, though, a hyper-compact explosion of energy that can hold its own next to any landmark early 80s hardcore punk record you want to compare it to. Sorry State's 2023 pressing aims to replicate the original look and feel of the original as closely as possible, with an offset-printed sleeve on legal size paper. It's as close as you can get to the original without missing a mortgage payment.

Brand new remastering approved by the band, for a definitive musical experience. New artwork and cd - with identical tracklist - included ! ‘Se Ho Vinto, Se Ho Perso’ is the album that took Kina into the 90s with a brand new sound tracing the path for the new decade. Things were moving fast for the Aosta band with their latest eighties efforts tracing a crucial change in signature. Often labeled as the north-italian answer to Husker Du, Kina were truly pre-dating the original emo-core revolution, with a melodic driven sound seriously attending the Washington DC underground party of bands like Rites Of Spring and Soulside. A classic on its own with the very audacious anthem “Questi anni”.

THE KARL HENDRICKS TRIO is a Pittsburgh rock institution. Having released nine full-lengths and six singles of uncompromising, emotionally charged, very loud rock over the course of twenty years, it's probably safe to call them an American rock institution as well. A former bedroom 4-track confessionalist, Karl Hendricks formed the Trio late in 1991. The band has undergone numerous line-up changes since, having had four different drummers, four different bass players, and during the two separate spans when the band augmented to a four-piece dubbed appropriately enough, the Karl Hendricks Rock Band, two different rhythm guitarists. The one constant has been, of course, Karl himself. The Trio debuted on record with 1992's Buick Electra, released on Karl's own Peas Kor label. From the mid '90s to the early 2000s the trio released several albums on Merge Records, and in 2007, Hendricks self-released the one and only Karl Hendricks Rock Band album, The World Says, on his Surplus Anxiety imprint. Comedy Minus One's release of The Adult Section in 2012 officially marks the end of the Karl Hendricks Rock Band Mark II and the return of the stripped-down Trio line-up. Karl's sound and his approach to songwriting have only gotten more nuanced and thoughtful with age. Musically, the Trio remains rooted in a muscular yet melodic sound built on a massive wall of guitars, and a bass and drum assault that powers things forward as much as it anchors them down. It's a straightforward aesthetic but it has allowed Karl's guitar playing to develop into a more sprawling and heroic version of the spirited six-string blasts of his youth. Edition of 500 copies with bonus CD version.

They still continue delivering some dark and slow parts but with a more hc/punk/dbeat approach. This is neocrust as its finest. You will love it if you are into His Hero Is Gone, Tragedy, Wolfbrigade or Ekkaia. Very political lyrics in hebrew (english translations included) about life in Israel. Antizionism, antioccupation, pro animal liberation…DIR Yassin former member.

Some people have said it was the best Moped gig ever. How was it from your point of view?Slimy - I thought Johnny's birthday gig was a rip-roaring success _ I enjoyed it _ The next Moped gig will be the best Moped gig ever and the one after that ...Marty - It's not the best gig as far as how we performed. But as far as the turn out and the size of the crowd that came along to celebrate Johnny's Birthday it was the best vibe of all the gigs for certain for me.This year marks the 50th year of Johnny Moped. What have been the high (and low) points for the band in the last five decades?Slimy - The constitution of these thoroughbred punk rockers is testimony to getting up and rocking out _ Johnny is not stopping he's class.Marty - I've only been in the band since 2017 and before that was the driver and shit carrier and before that a fan and also the band are my mates. You enjoyed that you bums or I'll kill you! Tomcats!Marty - Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Written and recorded amidst the devastating bushfires which ravaged his adopted hometown Canberra, just before the wave of pandemic broke, Shoot Out The Cameras reveals John Sharkey III to be a master craftsman; honing in on the existential dread of living in a burning world, and the imperative to find beauty in what remains. Perhaps best known as the creative force behind Clockcleaner, Sharkey’s credentials include Cleveland's 9 Shocks Terror and more recently, literate rock explorations as Puerto Rico Flowers and Dark Blue, the latter having released a pair of 12xu full-lengths. It was love (of course) that brought Sharkey from Philly to Melbourne in 2008, where he worked behind the bar at beloved venue, The Tote. Sharkey and his partner Yasmin moved back to Philly for several years; then, amid the darkening landscape of US politics, the couple decided to settle in Canberra, Yasmin’s hometown. At a physical but not psychological remove from the horrifying dysfunction of Trump’s America, Sharkey watched catastrophic bushfires encircle Canberra, raging through the hills of the Southern Tablelands, the city glowing orange, the suburbs suffocating in smoke. This is when the songs of Shoot Out The Cameras took form. As if to echo the craters of “before” and “after” that apocalyptic events leave in our collective consciousness, the songs arranged themselves into a cinematic narrative arc, from the foreboding of disaster (Side A) through its aftermath (Side B). The background horrors of totalitarianism, paranoia and surveillance also stalk the album—the cameras of the title inspired by Canberra’s omnipresent Cctv and speed cameras—just to add to the unmistakable sense of impending doom. Features guest appearances from Mary Lattimore and Duncan Lowe

Originally known as the singer, songwriter, and founder of both LAGWAGON and BAD ASTRONAUT, JOEY CAPE has established himself as a recognized solo artist over the past 13 years. His solo ventures have allowed him to stretch the bounds of his musical stylings, highlighting more diverse instrumentation, subdued pace, and experimental elements. The one constant, of course, is his unique ability to craft unforgettable songs. Joey doesn’t want to call it an epiphany, but in recent years he’s come to a realization about life—specifically, the best way to live it. It’s a simple philosophy: even though we’re living in very troubled times, it’s important to not get bogged down by it all. As he incorporates that mindset into his day-to-day life, it naturally gets absorbed into his music, and serves as the crux of Joey's new solo album Let Me Know When You Give Up.

Hot on the heels of five viral video singles, Tea Party Revenge Porn, the first full album since 2014 by Jello Biafra And The Guantanamo School Of Medicine, is finally here! This is very strong stuff. Hear the inimitable Mr. B skewer the place the country has put itself in like no one else would—or could—as he and The Guantanamo School Of Medicine capture the full power of their live shows on disc as never before. Only so many artists have a track record of lyrics this good, and back it up with music as good or better. It’s usually one of the other, but rarely this fierce, thanks to the wall of sound production of the mysterious Marshall Lawless, with Kurt Schlegel at the board this time. Co-conspirators now feature both string-titans of longtime AT mainstay Victims Family: guitarist Ralph Spight (also Freak Accident) and wonder bassist Larry Boothroyd (also Triclops, Brubaker); plus drummer / metal percussionist Jason Willer (UK Subs, Nik Turner, Charger, The Mob). So as germs and police riots rage, there’s no better primal scream therapy than a long-awaited new Jello Biafra album. From Dead Kennedys to Lard to the now-classic albums with the Melvins, DOA, NoMeansNo, Mojo Nixon; and of course, The Guantanamo School Of Medicine, Tea Party Revenge Porn is right up there with all of it.

Jailcell Recipes: Perhaps the last untold chapter in the story of the rapidly-detonating, late 80’s UK Hardcore scene. Often overlooked in favour of their contemporaries, this re-mastered/re-modelled retrospective collection of songs finally puts the record straight, giving them the recognition they deserve. It showcases the band’s importance within that scene and throws light on their unique standpoint and their growth over a 4 year period. This release is not intended as a discography, rather a selected ‘strongest hand’ from between the years 1988 to 1992. It features the definitive line up of Robbie Reid (vocals), Jamie Owen (guitar), Dave Arnold (bass) and Ian Barwick (drums). It's a game of two halves; the faster, straight ahead hardcore stylings make up Side One (practically the entire first album recorded in 1988), whilst the more melodic, mid-tempo material completes the set on the flipside - Robbie's unmistakable vocals being the constant throughout that makes it all work, he provided the band with a unique identity. Side Two closes with previously unreleased studio tracks from 1992 - virtually unheard until now, we believe these final three tracks to be amongst their best. The songs now sound as the band intended all the way back in 1988. Largely down to a relentless run of gigs back in their heyday, Jailcell Recipes gained a strong reputation for being an exciting and energetic ‘live’ hardcore band, playing with Bad Brains, All, Gorilla Biscuits and including tours with Youth Of Today (1989), Green Day (1991), Naked Raygun (1988). It’s the 35th Anniversary of the release of their debut album “Energy In An Empty Tank World” and after all these years, we finally have the recorded output to match the ‘live’ performance!

Imagine A World Where The Saints Held Onto The Raw-Throated, Full-Throttle Rock'n'roll Of Their Mighty First Three Albums. Where Radio Birdman Are Rightly Held Up As One Of The All-Time Great Bands. Where The Wipers Never Left The Driving Punk Rock Of 'Is This Real?' Behind For The Post-Kraut-Psych-Whatever Of The (Admittedly Still Totally Ragin') 'Youth Of America', And Simply Kickstarted A Revolution. That's The Sort Of Reality Where Jackson Reid Briggs & The Heaters Would Be Best Appreciated. Where Driving Rhythms, Crunching Power Chords And The Sound Of A Man Howling 'You're Gonna Get Eaten Alive' Are The Adrenaline-Pumping Soundtrack To The Everyday. Where An Album Like 'Waiting In A Corner' Is Heralded As A Goddamn Classic Upon Arrival, And Worshipped As A Vital Instrument In Setting Souls On Fire And Lifting Spirits Everywhere. Where_ Aww, You Get The Idea. Because Melbourne-Based Briggs And His Thrillingly Rambunctious Collective Have Made One Of Those Albums - Their Fifth - Where All You Can Do Is Play It Over And Over, Thrilling To The Ordered Chaos Of Songs Like 'Too Many Years' While Swooning To The Anthemic Likes Of 'If You Only Knew'. There Are Some Types Of Music That Australia Just Does Better. Garage? Punk? Yeah, Something Like That. 'Waiting In A Corner' Is The Latest Example, And Holy Fuck, It's An Instant Wonder. Indignation Meeting are punky rail fans from Leeds. 15-year-old Peter is the driver - he's the drummer and lead singer, writes most of the songs, and also plays bass and trumpet on the album. The rest of the crew is his dad Michael on guitar, Hugo on bass, and with Keith, Heather and Sally often along for the ride when they play out. Here at DGHQ we've been listening to their self-released debut album Trouble In The Shed since last year and finally spoke with the band and agreed to release it on vinyl for the first time.It was very good timing as they've just been in the studio to finish recording their second album, so we'll be releasing that later in 2024.Welcome on-board!We caught up with Peter to ask as few questions about the band_Q: "In a week when the Labour Party promised to return the rail network to public ownership, we ask how did your fascination with trains begin?"A: "Honestly, I don't really know - I've just loved them ever since I can remember. It's not like with some people who had a family connection or watched Thomas the Tank Engine; I've just always loved them. I guess it's just a childhood obsession that never went away!" Q: "'Trouble In The Shed' is quickly becoming a firm office favourite here at DG. There's a touch of punk, indie and new wave about it. What would you say are the key influences that make up your musical DNA?"A: "My main influence when this album was released was Blyth Power. They'd been my favourite band for years when this was recorded, so everything on it was influenced by them in some way. They've had so many different musical styles over the years that they kind of conglomerated into this album, to create yet another eclectic mix of songs. The only real exception to that on this album is Electrification - no prizes for guessing the influence there! If you see us live, however, you may notice another influence pervading through our songs. That influence is the anarcho-hippy band 'The Astronauts,' whom I discovered midway through the recording process,...

Vocalist/drummer Peter very kindly talks us through the (train) tracks_* "The Trainspotting Song" - Now, as a train geek, I go out filming trains an awful lot, and one thing you can't help noticing whilst out in the wilds of Staffordshire or the moors of Lancashire are a whole load of unnecessary 'Private Land' signs. This song is my response_* "The Talyllyn Railway" - The history of the Talyllyn Railway is a fascinating one that I've long since wanted to explore, due to its unique nature as the first railway to ever be taken over by volunteers. This is the result! * "The Middleton Railway" - As a volunteer at the Middleton Railway, I had felt that a song needed to be written for quite a while. However, our guitarist Michael, ended up beating me to it! * "A Model World" - It was late one night, and I was lying on my sofa, trying my hardest to gain an ounce of enjoyment from 'Hornby; A Model World.' It was proving quite hard, due to the alarming lack of substance in the programme, so instead I decided that its name was rather good, and could be the basis of a song explaining my 'model world.' And, well, here it is! * "The Fifth Black Five" - This song is dedicated to the railway preservationists of old, who spent countless hours in cold, damp, dreary sidings, all to make sure us future generations would be able to enjoy the smell of a steam train. Thanks guys! * "Case Study" - This song is a commentary on the sensationalisation of disasters, when there's a massive tragedy and peopl...

That true beauty lies in the essentiality and meticulous combination of a few elements is sometimes not just a cliché. The delicate blend of Roland Cr-78, acoustic guitar and dissonant organs that intertwine in Open Windows is a vivid demonstration of this. It is these few elements, now distant and hinted at and now close and deafening, that paint the backdrop of melancholic nostalgia where laconic whispers move the listener within the paintings that bear the sonic signature of Human Figures. To Daniel Lewis’ new project, which has seen its springboard through releases on the label of his friends at Frigio Records, perhaps the adjective “new” is already quite tight. He has built a very recognizable sonic tibre, an influence of producers and listeners at different latitudes of the post-punk and wave scene.

In the 8 canvases of Open Windows the folk tradition is repainted in a more contemporary guise: the sweet and sad litanies are alternated with fast and frenetic stornelli in which the combination of tradition and experimentation constitutes the stylistic signature. The open window through which the listener has the opportunity to look out in this album does not, however, give onto a natural external panorama. It projects into an inner world where introspection and silence are the only chance to grasp its sublime beauty.

Osaka based psych-rock three piece Hibushibire return after a long break, with a new line up and a stunning third album.

Following the successes of their debut album 'Freak Out Orgasm!' (2017), the follow up ‘Turn On, Tune In, Freak Out’ (2019) and two very well received UK tours. The band headed home to Osaka, Japan and then, the pandemic hit.

During this downtime, guitarist/vocalist Changchang decided to create a new power trio. Enter Tetsuji Toyoda (Bass/Vocals) & Aoi Hama (Drums/Vocals). The new trio have spent the last three years writing new music, playing live and honing their sound in Japan, and a short well received tour of Taiwan with Riot Season labelmates Dope Purple. And now finally, Hibushibire mark 2 is born properly.

“Hibushibire has returned after a change of members. A psychedelic, progressive work, suitable for a new beginning"

Entering the studio with Acid Mothers Temple/Mainliner guru Makoto Kawabata in the producer chair (and also as a guest musician) once again, the band recorded album number three, 'Magical Metamorphosis Third Eye’. Makoto also adds some of his own trademark guitar howls through out the album, perfectly complimenting Changchang’s own growing prowess.

Here the band have taken their trademark psych-rock blasts and blended them perfectly with some more trippy, dare I say sweet progressive psychedelic sounds.

“The idea of this album is based on the theme of "occultism and mysticism". But it's not a serious thing, it's about the things we like (UFOs, pyramids, psychic phenomena, shamanism etc) and we all had fun while making it. In terms of what makes it different from the previous Hibushibire albums, it’s where AOI HAMA's vocals are present. I had wanted to use a female vocalist for a long time, so it was a good feeling!”

Like the bands first two albums, 'Magical Metamorphosis Third Eye’ is very much an album of two halves. Side one again is full of killer shorter tracks, while side two is reserved for a blinding majestic 20 minute epic ‘Ayahuasca Witch Abduction’.

Perhaps the biggest musical surprise here though is probably track two, the beautifully mellow tripped out ‘We Won't Go Back To The Past’, which sounds like it’s been beamed straight out of the late 60s/early 70s.

The band also tip a nod to the Beatles psychedelic classic ‘Tomorrow Never Ever Knows’, but with their own twist of course.

It’s clear with the line up changes, Changchang has decided to expand the bands musical pathway, and he’s achieve stunning results.

The band plan to return to the UK and Europe in 2024 to see friends old and new.

22 years, several ep’s and splits, 3 full lengths and countless tours around the globe, Hellshock are still standing relevant and still playing some of the heaviest riffs in the world wide punk scene. Where most bands of the crust genre seem to lose the fire and filth or simply break up before their prime, this band seems to get more powerful with each release and this long awaited LP is no exception! This recording features the addition of Robbie Chronic from Ripper on guitar who adds some real sick fucking solos on top of the established rolling crust riffage that the original core group had perfected years ago. Neck aching tempos, sheer brutality, growled anguished vocals, and epic song writing without straying from pure unadulterated crust. For the seasoned Hellshock fan, you know you will already love this album and it will only exceed expectations. For the newcomer, if they were to ask “what is this crust/stenchcore thing about?”, I would point them to Amebix, Deviated Instinct, Axegrinder, and Hellshock. The name deserves to be right beside the creators and masters. In another 20+ years this record will be regarded as one of the best crust records of the 2020’s, just as we look back at “Only the Dead Know the End Of War” as a defining record of the early 2000’s.

La Castanya is releasing “Gran Sur” on vinyl for the first time, originally released on CD in 2004. Very Limited/Non-Returnable. Hello Cuca, inspired by the DIY philosophy and the Riot Grrrl movement, toured the United States with The Make Up (Dischord / K Records) and Spain with Bratmobile (Lookout! Records / Kill Rock Stars). Hello Cuca released on vinyl a handful of EPs between the late nineties and the two thousands and then an album released on CD, Gran Sur, an out of print release right up until now that La Castanya is going to release it on vinyl for the first time. In Gran Sur Lidia Damunt (the same Lidia Damunt who has now gone solo) was joint by her sister Mabel Damunt on the bass and Alfonso Melero (the same Alfonso Melero from Villarrobledo’s much-missed indie aristocracy) on drums. She sang Mabel’s lyrics about a place in-between the Spanish Levante Coast and the West Coast of the United States. A place for Mabel’s dream-theories about love and sisterhood and how we learn how to be people when we talk to each other, when a name is given to us, when we do things and let the others see we have done them.

Very little is known about He who cannot be named's actual identity. Some say he is a high ranking corrupt GOP politician, or an undercover agent for a foreign government. He has been banned from venues al over the world and Interpol reportedly has an ongoing warrant out for his immediate arrest on undisclosed charges. He rarely appears in public and very few have seen him without a mask. There have been numerous reports of Hewho impersonators spotted all over the world, especially when The Dwarves play live shows. It has even been suggested that He Who Cannot Be Named does not really and is in fact merely a rock legend. Perhaps Hewho himself is an imposter. We will probably never know for sure.
