Historical Graffiti is the band’s fourth full-length, out in 2016. Gary Arce, the guitarist, seems comfortable sitting on a single vamp throughout the opener ‘The Wind Cries Edalyn’, allowing the additions of violin and bandoleon accordion (played by the tango musicians Sara Ryan and Adolfo Trepiana, respectively) to weave melodies in between. Despite the titular connection to the Jimi Hendrix song, it bears no discernible resemblance to ‘The Wind Cries Mary’ and it is a deceptive number; what seems such a simple, almost easy-listening song reveals more colour with every listen. ‘Her Phantom Finger of Copenhagen’ is slightly darker and almost sounds, with the slight distortion on Arce’s guitar, as if it could have come from Pot Head, the EP the band released in 2005. Mario Lalli, the bass player, begins the third song, ‘Naomi Crayola’ with a throbbing single note, aided by Bill Stimson’s metronomic drumming. Imagine if Can grew up near the beach, it’s that sort of vibe. The only problem with the song – and the album, as it happens – is that it is too short. Ryan’s violin returns in ‘The Secret Language of Elephants’, this time playing the role of keeping the main vamp alive while Arce’s guitar generates an evocative soundscape that opens in your mind a wide, violet sky like that above a desert the moment after the sun disappears for the night. The closing song and title track is the most free of the five on the album, with Stimson’s beat conjuring memories of Kyuss’s more mellow moments from Welcome to Sky Valley, Lalli’s bass marking the simplest of bottom ends and Arce having a ball over the top. After the infamous split album with the almighty Bongzilla, Tons are back with their third full-length studio album. Hashension is composed by 6 heavy reefer songs which express the band’s devotion to the Green God. The recipe is the same, but always evolving: an infusion of slow and swampy doom/sludge metal with hints of psychedelia, and the band members’ hardcore-punk background gives the record a groovy and personal feel throughout.

Multi-Platinum rock band Candlebox releases Live at the Neptune, a The LP has hit songs from Candlebox’s self-titled release, as well as their sophomore release Lucy. Live at the Neptune was mixed and mastered by Candlebox’s very own Peter Klett and is available through Pavement Entertainment. Founding guitarist Klett says, “Not only was it a special night for all of us to get back together, it was also an opportunity to indulge in my new passion of music production by mixing the record. Mixing this record was a challenge, but it’s what I love to do now.” Candlebox formed back in 1990 in Seattle, WA. The band garnered plenty of praise during the grunge era and continues to be a dynamic driving force in today’s rock scene.

Famous for their freaked out ride down “Tobbaco Road” (included on the now legendary “A Fistful Of Fuzz” comp), Peabody Co. were a mysterious US band who left behind a set of 10” acetates, collected here for the first time. Late 60s acid-punk / garage-psych, featuring seven self-penned songs plus three terrific cover versions of “I Can’t Explain” (The Who), “Let’s Live For Today” (Rokes / Grass Roots) and the aforementioned “Tobbaco Road” (based on the Blues Magoos cover but including an extended crazed theremin/drum freak out!).
NYC psych collector Mike Ascherman recalls how he came to acquire the acetates:
"Pyramid Records was a classic small used record store that opened in 1982 or 1983 and was open for about ten years. It was a gold mine for psych and private press LPs in a time when there was virtually no competition in the City for those. On the day it opened, psych collector/dealer Paul Major walked in and found a copy of Gandalf the Grey. That was but the tip of the iceberg."
"Not long after, I made my first trip there one day after work, and it immediately became my favorite store. Over the years, I became friends with both owners. As a result, I was often given the opportunity to see the new psych arrivals before they were placed in the bins in addition to my usual digging through the store. This led to me being able to buy the first known copies of such gems as Daybreak on RPC (offered to me) and the first BLO LP (2 copies, one the same day as I found my only copy ever of Spirits & Worm - all for $15 each)."
"One day in 1990, I came into the store and was shown a set of 10" acetates that one of the owners had just unearthed in one of his well-guarded secret digging spots. He asked me if I'd ever heard of a band called Peabody Co., to which I replied I had not. He then played their cover of Tobacco Road and I was instantly hooked. He then offered the set to me at a moderately hefty but very reasonable price. It took me about two seconds to hand him the cash. The rest is, as they say, history, leading up to now, when they are finally being given the LP release they should have had over 50 years ago. Many thanks to Alex and Out-sider for making a dream become reality."

Norwegian proggers 35 Tapes have hit their peak with their new album Fabric of Time. Combining time-honoured sounds like the Mellotron and analogue synths with modern sensibilities, the album is a cinematic journey through moods, times and places. At times evoking the symphonic grandeur of early King Crimson and Genesis, the group also touches on the melancholy art-rock of groups like Talk Talk or an artist like David Sylvian. Since several members of the band also have backgrounds in audio engineering, it goes without saying that the album is remarkably audiophile in its presentation, with incredible dynamics ranging from a delicate whisper to roaring blow-outs. And while every musician in the band is a seasoned pro, the focus of the music is not pyrotechnics or virtuosity, but a unified effort to serve the songs and the particular moods evoked on the album.

Mozaik began its journey under the oppresive aura of the 1980 coup in Turkey, singing songs of freedom from all around the world, eventually stepping into the more controversial areas of jazz, progressive rock, fusion and ‘authentic music‘ with their own compositions.

Whilist the post-coup music scene was dominated by apolitical pop music, Mozaik produced sophisticated lyrics and composed songs in unusual structures. With a dynamic crew and a rotating list of songwriters in the band, Mozaik maintained its unique sound and poetic narrative throughout the years.

The Yays & Nays were a groovy, hip group (says so on the original LP jacket!) comprised of three guys and three girls. Theirs is a truly unique sounding album, full of creative songwriting and vocal arrangements and a style that defies categorization. There's garage folk-rock-the opening track 'Gotta Keep Traveling' is really astounding!, tracks with vocals in a kind of 'Kicking Against the Pricks"-era Nick Cave-channelling-Tony-Joe-White-meets-Johnny Cash vein, a little country flair, and some cuts of an ''Incredible Strange Music'' type. Weird and wonderful, in it's own peculiar way. Reissued for the first time, in collaboration with band members, and with original artwork.

Recorded in 1973 at the Church of Saint Mary Magdalene in Paddington, London, Unfinished Picture is Rupert Hine's second LP. The songs where all composed by Hine with lyrics by David McIver and Simon Jeffries. On its sessions, Hine was surrounded by a host of outstanding musicians that included Simon Jeffes (Penguin Cafe Orchestra), Mike Giles (Giles, Giles & Fripp / King Crimson), Mick Waller (Cyril Davis, The Steampacket, Jeff Beck Group), Ray Cooper (Eric Clapton, Elton John) among others.

Rupert Hine's recording adventures started with the release of a 7" 45 by the folk duo Rupert & David "The Sounds Of Silence". In 1971 he was approached by Purple Records for the release of his debut solo LP Pick Up A Bone, which despite its lack of commercial success featured a strong collection of critically acclaimed compositions that made Purple Records want him to record a second album - Unfinished Picture, on which Hine showed a fantastic evolution to a more conceptual, cinematic approach. Echoes of Ray Davies, Kevin Ayers or hints of Nick Drake taken to a more 'happy' territoire mix with beautiful strings by The Martyn Ford Orange Ensemble and even some ARP synth explorations to build a fantastic collection of sounds that take the listener on a trip through the worlds of folk, psych and prog.

Hine's career would soon take off as a famed producer, he did work with Kevin Ayers, Milla Jovovich, Jonesy, Steve Tilston, Anthony Phillips, Camel, Saga, Rush, Tina Turner, Howard Jones, Bob Geldof, Suzane Vega, and many others. After taking a hiatus from her music career in 1979, Yoshiko Sai made a comeback to the music scene with her album "Taklamakan" in 2008. However, she did not resume her live performances until the following year. Later she performed live in Tokyo in 2014 and 2015 but each time only once. This live album features a recording of her performance at a "Midnight Heavy Rock Party vol.2" held at Shibuya Mount Rainier Hall in 2014. Jojo Hiroshige and Futoshi Okano from Hijokaidan and other representative alternative musicians from Japan played as her backing band, making it a legendary performance where Yoshiko Sai miraculously made her comeback. This live recording has never been publicly released before, and P-vine is honored to be able to share this wonderful recording with her fans around the world.

This album is the first record to include recordings of her entire solo live performance. The show consisted of two parts and was a culmination of her career, featuring a selection of the best songs from her five albums, from her debut album to her latest release, as well as a newly released song. The backing band included active alternative musicians such as Jojo Hiroshige and Futoshi Okano from Hijokaidan, Hajimetal and Ryoko Ono helped create an exciting and energetic atmosphere. It's very rare for her on-stage banter are also recorded.

This is the second album released by singer-songwriter Steve Eaton, who had previously been part of the group Fat Chance with Bill LaBounty and gained attention for providing songs to artists such as The Carpenters and Art Garfunkel. Originally released in 1979, this LP has become rare and highly valuable, but P-vine is proud to be the first to release it on vinyl. Supported by talented musicians such as Steve Lukather and Leland Sklar, this album features excellent blue-eyed soul tunes including the lively and groovy "All In Love Say 'i'". Over 40 years after its release, it is still highly regarded by Soul / AOR freaks.

Wild Wonderful Purgatory is Karma To Burn second album. Is their first fully instrumental album after the departure of former vocalist Jay Jarosz and it was released in 1999 by Roadrunner Records. After more then 20 years this piece of stoner rock history will have a new repress in coloured vinyls via Heavy Psych Sounds. Heavy metal has, too often, been a case of great music, shame about the singer. It’s been true since the cod-poetic warblings of erstwhile-hippy cock rockers, right up to the present-day offerings of sad white boy pseudo-rappers. So hats off to Yank rockers Karma To Burn, who had the sense, the taste and the balls (don’t forget the balls) to part with their tiresome vocalist, minutes before an important London gig... Wild Wonderful Purgatory is their first album in this new incarnation. And it rocks, hard. Tracks are numbered rather than titled, in the order in which they were recorded. So ’32’ is the slaughterhouse groove characterised by the wildfire barbed wire guitar breaks; ’25’ is the slothful Sabbath grind; ’30’ the colossal, feral beast with all the ferocity of a Rottweiler which has been chained up and fed nothing but raw, red meat for weeks. If there’s an overall stoner-rock vibe to the proceedings, then it is tempered by Karma To Burn’s discipline: not a single note is wasted, and there’s no big-haired egomaniac chundering artlessly along to distract you from the hypnotic beauty of the riffs. All the tracks on this Rides Again album are unreleased studio material recorded after 1st album came out in 2005. At that time the band members had some troubles during recording, so after the recording sessions they broke up. These tracks were sleeping in the vault for more then fifteen years. The music is a mixture of psychedelic groove, rock, funk, and doom metal. For fans of Cactus, Grand Funk Railroad, Mountain, Sir Load Baltimore, Captain Beyond, Meaters, Graham Central Station and Funkadelic. On the album you can find four original songs plus two cover tracks: "Earthquake" from Graham Central Station and "Stay Away" from Meters.

Veteran alternative hard Rock band Ribozyme from Bergen, Norway returns with their 8th album “celestial Low”. Ribozyme produced by Spidergawd mastermind Per Borten, you say? What a great idea! The goal of having Per Borten produce this was to capture their live energy, and also to have more of an organic sound to the recordings. So isn’t it pretty awesome that Ribozyme is delivering shamelessly catchy rock tunes in 2023? We think so!

How does one follow up one of the most legendary, yet rarest albums said to signal the birth of doom metal? If you’re Randy Holden, you give everyone about fifty years to catch up, then casually drop a tastefully modernized reinterpretation of that sound. Population III picks up where Holden’s 1969 solo debut left off, updated with several decades worth of technological advances and personal hindsight. Following his tenure in proto-metal pioneers Blue Cheer in 1969, the guitarist aimed for more control over his next project. Thus, Randy Holden - Population II was born, the duo naming itself after the astronomical term for a particular star cluster with heavy metals present. Along with drummer / keyboardist Chris Lockheed, Holden created what many say is one of the earliest forms of doom metal. Their six-song debut album Population II delves into leaden sludge, lumbering doom and epic soaring riffs that sound free from all constraints of the era. However, troubles with the album’s original 1970 release bankrupted Holden, who subsequently left music for over two decades. For good reason, it’s widely hailed as a masterpiece, and until finally getting a proper formal release in 2020 on Riding Easy Records, was a longtime Holy Grail for record collectors. Flash forward forty years to 2010, one finds the guitarist / vocalist quietly coaxed into recording a followup album by Holden superfan and Cactus member Randy Pratt. Joined by drummer Bobby Rondinelli (who has played with Black Sabbath, Blue Öyster Cult, Rainbow), the trio cut the six-song collection of leaden future blues, Population III. “Randy Pratt had written the basic song structures, he understood my music and where I come from quite well,” Holden says. “He nailed it.” But the recording was ultimately shelved for over a decade. Throughout Population III, Holden effortlessly dishes out squealing, soaring leads and skull-thwacking riffs with his signature low end grit and penchant for Middle Eastern scales. Coupled with Pratt’s pocket-locked bass, the slight flanging effect on Rondinelli’s drums and his pugilistic beats, the album occasionally brings to mind Presence-era Led Zeppelin. At times, Holden sounds reminiscent of Neil Young leading Crazy Horse’s ruptured grunge as his lilting falsetto vocals push and pull his guitar’s siren’s call. Population III is the real deal —a powerful continuation of a sound forged fifty years ago, that almost didn’t happen. Somehow, Randy Holden’s music always finds a way to stand the tests of time.

Vultures is a first time pressed EP of the swedish stoner band Dozer. Recorded in 2004-2005 at Rockhouse Studios in Borlänge, these six tracks were used as pre-production demos for what would later become the fourth Dozer album, 2005’s Through the Eyes of Heathens. The album is now released for the first time on vinyl and digipak with a very special bonus track, a cover of the Sunride song Vinegar Fly. Vultures is a real heavy-stoner explosion, something that only Dozer can provide. The amazing artwork is made by Lowrider leader Peder Bergstrand.

Heavy Psych Sounds is re-issueing the Yawning Man old demo recordings The Birth Of Sol in brand new Colored Vinyl and new cover. Dating back to 1986, these demo recordings by Yawning Man were originally only spread amongst close friends of the band. They were released on iTunes in 2009. Our attempt to achieve the sound of the Sonics first album with extra raw drums recorded live In Long Beach Ca. Shawn Medina (bass player) did all the guitar playing aside from Wic Coleman (close friend and honorary member) the solo for “Velvet” on a big box 100watt JMP Marshall and 1968 Burns Bison. Brant Bjork and the Operators is the second solo album by desert rocker Brant Bjork. Although titled Brant Bjork and the Operators, Bjork sings and plays most instruments on the album. Fall 2022 session is known as the Harvest Sessions and the February of 2023 session is known as the Propagation Sessions. The record is our 2nd as a three piece and our second full length release for our label Heavy Psych Sounds and continues our journey into ultra stoned sludgey psychedelia. Reissued now for the first time, over 52 years after its original release, RSD exclusive spattered LP The Coterie was an ephemeral folk group from Dimnagh, a southern suburb of Dublin, with hippy and psych touches from the late 60s. They were signed by Emerald at around the age of 18. Emerald released a single and the group's debut and only LP, "A Swing to Folk", a captivating record with simple instrumentation, beautiful vocals and harmonies that transport us to pastoral surroundings full of calm, peace and love. Enter the Mirage is arguably the most blazing and powerful album yet by The Sonic Dawn. It has an unusual live feel for a studio album, packing much of the raw energy and electricity that has made The Sonic Dawn’s psychedelic concerts famous in the rock underground. Enter the Mirage’s overall theme is freedom. It is about visions that may seem too distant to be real, but only those who take the trip will ever really find out. Frontman, Emil Bureau, explains about the album’s inception: “First I lost my father, then I lost my job and finally I lost my will to be a servant of anything that isn’t peace, love and freedom. It should be simple, but in this world it isn’t. Instead of getting back on the so-called career path, which is generally a dead end, I took a leap of faith, with the band’s support.” Bureau spent half a year in a songwriting frenzy, spawning not only Enter the Mirage by The Sonic Dawn, but also a solo album in the folk genre (available via Heavy Psych Sounds). To give form to these song ideas, the Danish trio rented a space in the gloomiest part of Copenhagen, set up a studio there and rocked out for two months. You hear that roughness, present as a determined attitude from a tightly knit band. With three past albums and some 200 shows under their belt, The Sonic Dawn is a psychedelic group to be reckoned with. However, at the end of their long and laborious creative process, the band was completely broke. Fortunately, friend and former producer, Thomas Vang, allowed them to mix the album in The Village Recording at night, after his own sessions. Thanks to this, and a skillful mastering by Hans Olsson Brookes (Graveyard et al.) Enter the Mirage puts the HIGH back in high fidelity. Turn up the volume and experience The Sonic Dawn.

Powerful downtempo ballad with heavy emotions from Louisiana based guitarist Chris McCaa. Originally released as a 7” promo oriented record in 1983, the band had hopes of it leading to bigger projects but most of the pressing probably ended up in someone's basement with very few copies available online. 40 years later, “If I Had To Say Goodbye” is back again to bless your ears at the ending sets of special dancefloors. Featuring a sound that is highly reminiscent Chris Rea's aesthetic, both in terms of vocal and guitar use, yet still breaking new ground in the power ballad department. Now in 12” 45rpm format with an extended edit by Castro on the B-side, remastered at Berlin's finest manmade mastering.

Oriental Beat by Hanoi Rocks gets the redux treatment, officially mixed and revived from the original sessions, and released on March 17th on deluxe vinyl, CD and digital formats. The CD and vinyl come with the song lyrics, checked and approved by Michael Monroe.

Dubbed the “re(al) mix”, this 40th anniversary edition was mixed by Petri Majuri at E-Studios in Finland in collaboration with the band. Vocalist Michael Monroe calls this release “the longest and slowest album project ever,” stating that “40 years in the making, it's not just a remix, but the Real MIX supervised and approved by Hanoi Rocks”.

Recorded in London, UK in 1981, for 200 pounds a day, Oriental Beat was made during the height of the British punk + New Wave movement, when the band was hanging out with everyone from Phil Lynott to the Damned. Hanoi Rocks’ original drummer Gyp Casino says of Oriental Beat that: “Back in the days we gave heart, soul and a bit of pain to make this record something else” but the sound of the album, originally released in 1982, did not match their efforts at the time. Bassist Sami Yaffa called it “the worst sounding album of our career” and Michael Monroe said that “the producer of the album didn’t have a clue what the band was about and his mix of the album was horribly wrong”.

Oriental Beat’s original engineer Peter Wooliscroft, was not a rock producer, and according to Hanoi Rocks’ manager Richard Bishop he “tried to mix the album to sound like Spandau Ballet”. Released before the band could remix or rerecord it, as the label had run out of money, and the master tapes had gone missing, the band has always considered the original mix of Oriental Beat to be a “disaster”. With the tapes mysteriously showing up in the Universal vault recently, the band was finally able to mix and resequence the album the way they wanted it to sound.

Oriental Beat is a defining masterpiece made when Hanoi Rocks was about to explode onto the world scene and written at the absolute peak of lead guitarist Andy McCoy’s creativity as a songwriter. Rhythm guitarist Nasty Suicide says “only now, with stripping it down to the bare essentials and tweaking it to bring out what was really laid down it became our dream come true! This is what it's all about” as this definitive edition of Oriental Beat now fully displays the ultimate arrogance and attitude which defined the band. Monroe says: “now, 40 years after its original release in 1982, we finally got the album sounding as great as it deserves, with no overdubs or samples,” and McCoy adds that: “It's better now than ever. Hard, groovy, soft and fuzzy sound that brings you back to the early 70’s. The songs were recorded in Don Pierre Studios in Gothenburg produced by the legendary Don Alsterberg (Graveyard etc). The master tapes were forgotten but are now found and released on Heavy Psych Sounds Records. The recording is 100% analogue and recorded and mixed on tape. The songs gets its magic from a beautiful mix of groove, melodies, fuzzy hard rock and dreamful psych prog rock influences.

The album release will be preceded by a video for the single " The Strange Dream of My Old Sun" Producer and guitarist Alessandro Santori says about the album: Cosmic Evoked Potentials is a rite of passage, the end of a cicle and already blooming of another. Surely our most instinctive effort so far. We went back to our roots of live recording, this time instead of a stage we chose an old mansion from late '1700 outside Rome. The atmosphere there was so charming and stimulating that 13 minutes of a 45 min long improvisation ended up in the album. We wanted the dynamics and moods of the parts to be the most important thing, taking more time than our usual developing the "story" of the songs.

Shawn Medina (bass player) did all the guitar playing aside from Wic Coleman (close friend and honorary member) the solo for “Velvet” on a big box 100watt JMP Marshall and 1968 Burns Bison. As we continue our half-joke-verbal agreement of "one album per year" with Taner Öngür, here we go with "Water Cycle". Like many musician in the world, lock down home, early 2020 Taner Öngür got back to his own song books and merge them with some new ideas and brought us this exceptional instrumental album. It's quite hard to classify it within one genre but we can say it takes off from progressive sounds and explore around Öngür's latest band 43,75's own swing-surf-rock style (of course with some little psychedelic touches). These 14 tracks consist 3 special covers such as the Beatles' "I am the Walrus", Bollywood's famous "Mera Joota Hai Japani" and "Ya Mustafa" which featured in various works of middle eastern cinema. Taner Öngür, the legendary bass player of Moğollar (the iconic group of 1970’s Anadolu Pop movement), is producing solo projects since 90's. "Water Cycle" is his 4th opus of his collaboration with his latest band 43,75 and Tantana Records. During lockdown days of 2020, Öngür got back to his own song books and surfed between UK and India -and of course over fly central Asia- got together this very special instrumental guitar trip. Considering he is the "baptist" of the "anatolian rock" movement of 70's, his beyond-genres-eclectic view to the music fits perfectly to the swinging guitars, progressive touches, tribal beats, melancholic moments of “Water Cycle"... It's also a great "introduction to Taner Öngür's universe". Back in 2016 he formed this project: 43,75. Their first album “Elektrik Gramofon” (2017) was a beautiful selection of 20's - 50's Istanbul songs, distilled by Öngür's surf-swing-rocknroll appoach (it's LP's sold out within 48 hours!). Nowadays, most of the vinyl collectors knows about Anatolian Rock; but not many knows that Taner Öngür was on many cult records of the era and the definition of "anatolian pop" and "anatolian rock" are actually Taner Öngür's own wording, that became the name for it - since 70's. So, on "Sayko Ana” (2018) Öngür did not hesitate to have fun with it; browsing between forgotten Turkish folk songs and psych them. In 2019, he got back into archives, to dig "strange stories" from newspapers and vintage novels of 1930's-1960's, which gave birth to "Asrî Sadâ" album, that its LP consisting a superb - rich contented 16 pages tabloid newspaper; with "news" and "articles" related to the songs... and many other bizarre details of our "dusty days”. So, please welcome to Taner Öngür's own psych-surf-swing flavored universe!

New reissue of the Stonewall Noise Orchestra legendary album Constants In An Ever Changing Universe with brand new Colored Vinyl by Heavy Psych Sounds. It was quite chaotic putting this album together. It’s recorded in 5 different locations. Rehearsal rooms, a living room, a super professional studio, high and low really. I guess it was quite a challenge for Robert Ekholm to do the mixing. It was also some personal challenges at the time which resulted in John Hermansen doing the vocals. John is an incredible singer and an awesome dude, we’re very thankful he helped us keeping the band rolling. The album was supposed to be released earlier than it was but due to all kinds of stuff out of our control it took some time. In the middle of this chaos was the music, the constant in an ever changing universe. It’s an album we’re proud of and we still play many songs from it live.

I guess it was quite a challenge for Robert Ekholm to do the mixing. It was also some personal challenges at the time which resulted in John Hermansen doing the vocals. John is an incredible singer and an awesome dude, we’re very thankful he helped us keeping the band rolling. The album was supposed to be released earlier than it was but due to all kinds of stuff out of our control it took some time. In the middle of this chaos was the music, the constant in an ever changing universe. It’s an album we’re proud of and we still play many songs from it live.

Nemesis Lately is the second full-length album released by Somnus Throne. This LP is very much a continuation of their first album(Burning World Records 2020), but with much more attention to detail, a further exploration of the depths of each niche within 'doom,' and a greater variety of sounds. Think just as much heaviness as the first album with less drone and more action. Nemesis Lately goes everywhere across the landscape of doom, stoner, heavy psych, and grunge from a welcoming kick in the teeth by a Motorhead-esque first track, through shades of Acid King, Iggy Pop and the Stooges, Black Angels, The Melvins, Dead Meadow, High on Fire, The Sword, Electric Wizard, Dopelord, Black Pyramid all the way to a concluding track that strives at echoes of Led Zeppelin's acoustic prowess. In sum-total, this album is truly a smorgasbord of all things fuzzy, doomy, smokey, sleepy, and trippy while also managing to grasp the essence of each sound -- perfect for anyone ready to doom, space, fuzz, head bang, tune in, turn up, and trip out for the next 40+ minutes.

Earl McGrath was the ultimate ’70s jet setter, an art collector and comic bon vivant who stumbled into the record business between legendary parties in New York and LA and discovered Daryl Hall and John Oates and then Jim Carroll. Atlantic founder Ahmet Ertegun gave Earl his own label, Clean Records, in 1970; Mick Jagger hired him to run Rolling Stones Records in 1977.

Friend to Joan Didion, Andy Warhol, and a galaxy of luminaries, Earl was an inveterate tastemaker. Actor Harrison Ford, who before Star Wars fame was Earl’s handyman and pot dealer, called him “the last of a breed, one of the last great gentlemen and bohemians.”

After Earl died in 2016, journalist Joe Hagan, author of the critically-acclaimed Sticky Fingers, the biography of Rolling Stone founder Jann Wenner, discovered a trove of rare and unheard tapes in Earl’s apartment in New York—literally inside his closet. “I asked for a step ladder and the first box I pulled off the shelf was a master tape of Some Girls, the Stones album,” says Hagan.

Whether it’s the almost-famous power pop of Shadow from Detroit, or the Delfonics-style soul of the Blood Brothers Six, Earl’s Closet retraces the dreams of artists who once sent demos to Earl McGrath. Longtime Light in the Attic-affiliated reissue producer Pat Thomas assisted Hagan in tracking down the artists and finalizing the paperwork.

The Sonic Flower new album Me and my Bellbottom Blues is full of 70’s feelings. It’s heavy but more bluesy taste than ever. New guitarist “Fumiya Hattori” is a young bluesman. He use slide bar and acoustic guitar too. His guitar style’s width is huge. Regarding song writing, of course “Tatsu Mikami” wrote songs as always. Not only heavy but also ‘down to earth’ feeling. You can also enjoy tons of Riff by this riff master. New drummer “Toshiaki Umemura” made a heavy and groovy sound. Most difference from previous album is Sonic Flower got a singer on this album. “Kazuhiro Asaeda“ is original Church OF Misery singer and he sang in their early release “Vol.1”. Tatsu made a tag team with him again and solution is really amazing. Tatsu think “This album is Best work in my carrier.” Recorded in Tokyo in early 2022. Mixed by Japanese Doom guru “Yukito Okazaki”(his band Eternal Elysium was founded in 1991...it’s older than Church of Misery).

Recorded back in 2006 and hidden up until now. Swedish retro rockers Solarius masterpiece “Universal Trial” is now brought to daylight with this release. 70’s groovy hard blues rock with a psychedelic twist and featuring Jonatan Ramm of Graveyard fame (before joining that band). Hard, groovy, soft and fuzzy sound that brings you back to the early 70’s. The songs were recorded in Don Pierre Studios in Gothenburg produced by the legendary Don Alsterberg (Graveyard etc). The master tapes were forgotten but are now found and released on Heavy Psych Sounds Records. The recording is 100% analogue and recorded and mixed on tape. The songs gets its magic from a beautiful mix of groove, melodies, fuzzy hard rock and dreamful psych prog rock influences.

“In Carne Persona”, the upcoming fourth full length album from Texas heavy rockers Duel, is more of what you have come to expect from the band. Nine new heavy riff soaked tracks from a dungeon in the desert. Written and recorded during plague lockdown, In Carne Persona has the feel of an album that takes its time and full attention to detail. Several upbeat classic guitar rockers in the vain of Thin Lizzy, early UFO, and the beginnings of Kiss. A handful of old school Nwobhm anthems channeling early Judas Priest and Iron Maiden , tripped out stoner and proto metal soundscapes. Always pushing the barriers of their sound and offering up something new with the soul of the classic Duel evil boogie.

All the tracks on this Rides Again album are unreleased studio material recorded after 1st album came out in 2005. At that time the band members had some troubles during recording, so after the recording sessions they broke up. These tracks were sleeping in the vault for more then fifteen years. The music is a mixture of psychedelic groove, rock, funk, and doom metal. No Love Lost is our favorite track…originally by Joy Division but with a “Angels Hard as they come” approach. This album was as close as we were ever going to get as an “original Lineup”. Johnny DeVilla came back after a hiatus, and Micheal Davis (mc5) joined the band. Recorded at Woody Jackon’s world famous studio located in Nichols canyon Hollywood California. Laurent Bagnard graced us with bad ass photos of the band. Johnny DeVilla’s wife Jamie posed for the album cover on Eric Or’s of the Cretins Motorcycle Club Norton Commando. Our attempt to achieve the sound of the Sonics first album with extra raw drums recorded live In Long Beach Ca. Shawn Medina (bass player) did all the guitar playing aside from Wic Coleman (close friend and honorary member) the solo for “Velvet” on a big box 100watt JMP Marshall and 1968 Burns Bison. Johnny had left the band after co-writing and performing most of the songs on this album.***Action was written with the plans to have Poison Ivy play the lead. It was discussed, but never became a reality. Todd Youth (formerly of Agnostic Front/Warzone/Murphys Law/Danzig) joined the band shortly after.
