Year Of No Light`S Lengthy, Sprawling Compositions Of Towering Walls Of Guitars And Sombre Synths Irradiate A Sense Of Dire Solemnity And Spiritual Gravity, And Couldn't Be A More Fitting Soundtrack For Such Grim Medieval Scenarios. But There Is Also The Element Of Absolution, Regeneration, Elevation, Transcendence In The Face Of Death. Consolamentum Is Dense, Rich And Lush And Yet Somehow Feels Starved And Deprived. With Debut Album Nord (2006) And Sophomore Release Ausserwelt (2010), The Band Made Themselves A Name In The European Avant-Metal Scene. Extensive Tours Of Europe, North America And Russia In 2013 And 2014, Including Two Appearances At Roadburn Festival, Hellfest And A Spectacular Performance In A 17th Century Fortress In The Carpathian Mountains Introduced Them To A Broader And Quickly Growing International Audience. The Cinematic Scope Of Their Music Implies That Year Of No Light Are A Group Of Artists That Pay A Great Deal Of Attention To Their Visual Representation, From The Classy Album Artworks And Merch Designs To The Carefully Designed Lighting Design Of Their Live Show. With Their Seminal 3rd Album Tocsin, Released In 2013, Year Of No Light Reached The Peak Of Their Career Thus Far - A Logical Decision That Consolamentum Was Made With The Same Team Again: Recorded And Mixed By Cyrille Gachet At Cryogene In Begles / Bordeaux, Mastered By Alan Douches At West West Side. "We Wanted This Album To Sound As Organic And Analog As Possible", Comments The Band. "All Tracks Were Recorded Live. The Goal Was To Have The Most Natural, Warm And Clean Takes Possible, To Give Volume To The Dynamics Of The Songs. We Aimed To Have A Production With A Singular Personality."Consolamentum Is Huge, Poignant, Frightening, Sublime, Smothering And Cathartic - And, Much Like Its Predecessor, "Audacious, Memorable And Supremely Confident." (Decibel Magazine).

Leader of the punk-rap awakening, Wu-Lu pulls inspiration from personal hardship and the underrepresented on his latest for Warp entitled 'loggerhead'. Miles Romans-Hopcraft based his artistic moniker on the Amharic word for water, “wu-ha”. True to his fluid sound and nature, he decided to change it to something that felt more liquid. He ended up with Wu-Lu, a name he has been using since 2015. His first record Ginga opened the floodgates to a career that would take him to various places, people, and genres. From breaking bones at skateparks as a teenager, to DJing as one of the original members of Touching Bass, and eventually getting signed to Warp in 2021.

As an artist, Wu-Lu seems concerned with feeling and communicating the full spectrum of human emotion. Throughout his varied discography, he touches on disparate themes and sounds, straddling a divide between blissed-out beats and grungy guitar dirges, and often mixing both into one amorphous, unclassifiable sound of his own.

On ‘'loggerhead'’, Wu-Lu hones his unique sound. On ‘Take Stage’, a despondent spoken word intro opens with sombre strings and underlying bows dragged delicately across them. Then the lights flicker to life on ‘Night Pill’, and the mosh pit with them - the bassline approaches like a hungry shark and the guitars snarl with a homemade 90s grunge energy. This grunge drawl and punk spirit is peppered with dry old-school drum sounds of classic hip-hop, with laid-back beat-oriented tracks are spread amongst those with intermittent growls, scratches, and shrieks. Sonic elements are constantly rearranged and juxtaposed throughout the album, like on ‘South’ where the fluctuating pitch of squealing guitars and screaming vocals is contrasted with the steady flow of Lex Amor.

Listening through the album you are constantly greeted with about-turns, and through the element of surprise and deft use of contrast 'loggerhead' sits at an exciting point in Wu-Lu’s genre-defying artistry.

Orange vinyl, gatefold sleeve. Following on from a Fire Records reissue campaign which cast new light on a decades-long career, in 2015 Eric released his first solo album in over a decade - 'amERICa'. It's about Eric, it's about America - a country he has toured since the late 70's, and where he has lived since 2011.. Eric played electric guitars and bass throughout, strummed a scratchy 3/4 size Framus Teenager acoustic (bought from an old blues singer down in Georgia) against simplistic drum loops of his own creation. Here and there he called on friends and neighbours - Brian Dewan manned a malfunctioning Wurlitzer organ and other dodgy keyboards, bringing in cheap but magnificent synthetic choirs. Jane Scarpantoni played the cello. Alexander Turnquist guested on the e-bow guitar. Eric's wife Amy Rigby assisted on piano, banjo and vocal harmonies. Eric treated and manipulated the sounds the American musicians made as they were being recorded.

Blue Weekend is the highly anticipated third album from one of Britain's most revered bands, Wolf Alice. Blue Weekend is the follow-up to the band's 2017 Mercury Prize-winning album Visions of a Life. Personal storytelling is at the core of Blue Weekend, an album that sees Wolf Alice embrace a newfound boldness and vulnerability in equal measure. For Blue Weekend, the band decamped to an Airbnb in Somerset, and it was there that they reconfigured who they were together, and set to work on some fledgling demos in a converted church. These demos evolved into Blue Weekend, a record produced by Markus Dravs (Arcade Fire, Bjork, Brian Eno, Florence + The Machine) who has aided the band in refining their sound to an even sharper point. Wolf Alice are Ellie Rowsell (vocals, guitar), Joff Oddie (guitar, vocals), Theo Ellis (bass) and Joel Amey (drums, vocals). It has been a decade since the band began as a duo of Ellie Rowsell and Joff Oddie, then later expanded to a four-piece, with Joel Amey and Theo Ellis joining the group. Since then, the band saw their 2015 debut album My Love Is Cool soar to #2 on the UK charts, earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Performance and had their sophomore album Visions Of A Life win the 2018 Mercury Prize. Blue Weekend is the next chapter for Wolf Alice, and it's the work of a band who raise the bar with every release. Track Listing: 1. The Beach 2. Delicious Things 3. Lipstick On The Glass 4. Smile 5. Safe From Heartbreak (if you never fall in love) 6. How Can I Make It OK 7. Play The Greatest Hits 8. Feeling Myself 9. The Last Man On Earth 10. No Hard Feelings 11. The Beach II

Re-issue of the Third album from Wobbler - Rites at Dawn! “Rites at Dawn” it was time for a change. Wanting to up their game both musically and sonically, the band took their sweet time to hone their new material and to record things as pristinely as they could. A major factor in the "new" Wobbler sound that would appear on the band's 3rd album, “Rites at Dawn” (2011), was the arrival of new singer Andreas W. S. Prestmo. Since Andreas is also a songwriter and lyricist, he brought the band up to a new level where vocal melodies, lyrics, arrangements and performances came together in a cohesive whole. “Rites at Dawn” reflected Andreas' preoccupations with nature and spirituality in words and music that took on a luminous, mystical nature. It was also an album where Lars' production skills came to the fore, with a mix that was crystal clear, showcasing each individual musician's newfound maturity. Martin's drums had never sounded better, and the intricacies and grooves of his playing were perfectly married to Kristian's Rickenbacker, that wove its way between Lars and Morten's labyrinthine chords and leads in a remarkably melodic, yet inventive way.

Repress of the sophomore album in brand new coloured vinyls. “The whole tone of the album is one of pure Doom though shades of Psych Rock and Stoner Metal do appear to show you there is much more to the bands sound. Though this will take a few listens to fully appreciate as Witchthroat Serpent have created quite a complex album at times. Tracks such as – Lady Sally, Into The Black Wood and Mystical Detective – even venture into the world of Prog Rock as some of the guitar solos can only be described as epic.” - Outlaws of the Sun

It's nearing a decade since William Doyle released his Mercury Music Prize nominated debut album, Total Strife Forever, as East India Youth in 2014. A year later, he had toured the world and was releasing his second album, Culture of Volume, but it would be another four years before Doyle returned with his third full album, and the first official release under his own name. The dizzyingly ambitious Your Wilderness Revisited arrived in 2019 and was followed last year by the artpop masterpiece, Great Spans of Muddy Time. In the years between leaving the old project behind and re-emerging under his own name, Doyle self-released a string of ambient-leaning albums, The Dream Derealised, Lightnesses Vol I & II and Near Future Residence, which are now to receive a first vinyl pressing via Tough Love. The Dream Derealised is a collection of nine abstract, lo-fi pieces that were recorded during the summer of 2016, when focusing on creating them helped guide Doyle through a "difficult period of anxiety, panic and a regular dissociative feeling called derealisation." At the time, doing something creative in a quick and immediate fashion felt vital to Doyle, carrying him to a new place: "I'm releasing them now as a cathartic measure, and as a message for others who may be going through difficult times themselves. What I told myself at the time, what I can tell you now: You are not in danger. You are not going insane. You are not alone."

Near Future Residence is music for an imagined place based on real ideas; the soundtrack for an ecologically sustainable housing development somewhere in a not-too-distant future Britain. The eleven instrumental pieces here come from a place of optimism, imagining a future that is based on cooperation, community and ecological urbanism. It's music intended to sit in this imagined environment rather than impose upon it, similar in principle to the function of Kanky? Ongaku (Japanese environmental music). The ideas contained on Near Future Residence laid the groundwork for - and can be seen as a companion piece to - the album Your Wilderness Revisited, released to critical acclaim in 2019. Doyle explains how the pieces "were composed in entirely generative ways using samples of instruments, synthesisers and field recordings I've collected and developed throughout 2018. In generative composition, rules are set and parameters are chosen and then put into motion, the results constantly changing and surprising.

Lightnesses Vol. I & II sees Doyle create what we might understand as true ambient music - that is, music intended for the background that wasn't composed as such, but allowed to blossom out of the setting of some rules and parameters, played by sounds he created and then resampled. The deceptively simple, droning pieces are unlike anything Doyle has made before or since. "During their creation I'd often take photographs of the light coming in through the windows of the two houses I lived in during their creation. I'd post these on social media and they became quite popular parts of my output. This music was intended to accompany those visuals. The first volume's photo is a double exposure of the sun shining in on my notebook and my hand, whereas the photo for the second volume was taken in Joshua Tree Park, California as I saw our tail lights illuminate one of the trees."

Great Spans Of Muddy Time Is The Fourth Album From Mercury Music Prize Nominated Artist William Doyle, And The Second Under His Own Name (Having Dropped His Earlier East India Youth Moniker). Born From Accident But Driven Forward By Instinct, The Album Was Built From The Remains Of A Catastrophic Hard-Drive Failure. With His Work Saved Only To Cassette Tape, Doyle Was Forced To Accept The Recordings As They Were - A Sharp Departure From His Process On The Previous Record, 2019's Your Wilderness Revisited, Which He Crafted Over Four Long Years. (Line Of Best Fit Described It As "A Dazzlingly Beautiful Triumph Of Intention" And Metro Declared It An Album Not Only Of The Year, But "Of The Century".)"Instead Of Feeling A Loss That I Could No Longer Craft These Pieces Into Flawless 'Works Of Art', I Felt Intensely Liberated That They Had Been Set Free From My Ceaseless Tinkering," Doyle Says Of Great Spans. These Unedited, Often Improvised Pieces, Free From Fine-Tuning, Plunged Him Into Uncharted Waters. What Remains Is Doyle's Unique Exploration Of Pop, Art-Rock, Ambient And Idiosyncratic Compositions, Married With A Voice That Deftly Glides From Tender Restraint To Soaring Peaks, But Its Expression Is Rawer And Less Polished Here."It's A Kind Of Englishman-Gone-Mad, Scrambling Around The Verdancy Of The Country's Pastures Looking For Some Sense," Doyle Says. "It Has Its Seeds In Robert Wyatt, Early Eno, Robyn Hitchcock, And Syd Barrett," He Adds, Crediting Also Bowie's Ever-Influential Berlin Trilogy, And Highlighting A Far Less Expected Muse: Monty Don, Presenter Of Gardener's World, Doyle's Lockdown Addiction. "He Once Described Periods Of Depression In His Life As Consisting Of 'Nothing But Great Spans Of Muddy Time'," Doyle Says. "When I Read That Quote I Knew It Would Be The Title Of This Record. I Would Also Be Lying If I Said It Didn't Chime With My Mental Health Experiences As Well." What Results Is A Beautiful Ode To The Power Of Accident, Instinct And Intuition.Riyl: Brian Eno, Roby...

Wilco's legendary 4th studio album, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, was originally released on April 23, 2002. It delivers ten songs that have since become favorites among fans and critics alike. It scored a perfect 10 on Pitchfork, which hailed the album as “complex and dangerously catchy, lyrically sophisticated and provocative, noisy and somehow serene … simply a masterpiece.” And as the New York Times put it, Jeff Tweedy’s songs "unfold in richly enigmatic arrangements.”

This 7-LP Deluxe Edition of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot features the original ten songs remastered; plus an alternate version of the album (titled The Unified Theory Of Everything). Additionally, the songs performed on the September 18, 2001 WXRT radio appearance are included as is the entire July 23, 2002 show from The Pageant in St. Louis, MO. The vinyl is mastered by Bob Ludwig and cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering on BLACK vinyl. The package (designed by Lawrence Azzerad) includes a new essay by music journalist Bob Mehr featuring recent interviews with Jeff Tweedy, John Stirratt and Glenn Kotche plus previously unseen live and studio photos.

For Songwriting Duo Joey Cobb And Katie Drew Of White Flowers, One Of The Most Exciting Young Bands In The Uk Right Now, It Was Only On Leaving London To Return To Their Native Preston That The Dark-Hued Dreampop Of Their Debut Album, Day By Day, Began To Crystalize. "There's Something Uniquely Bleak About The North," Says Joey, Speaking From The Abandoned Textile Mill That White Flowers Call Home, "But In That Bleakness There's A Certain Beauty." "We Like The More Alien Sounds" Explains Joey, "Where The Focus Is On Creating Atmosphere." This Is Perhaps Most Obvious On The Album Title Track, One Of The More Sonically Enticing Tracks On The Record With Its Pulsing Drone And Portishead-Esque Rhythm, Or Even 'Night Drive', A Live Favourite That The Pair Take Pride In Building Into A Monstrous Wall Of Sound.'Daylight' Pushes Forward With A Prettiness Matched By Katie's Oblique, Near-Glossolalia Vocal. "We Don't Like It When Things Are Clean Or Overproduced" Explains Katie, "And There's Something Interesting In The Instinctive Nature Of The First Thing You Sing, Because You Don't Really Know What You're Singing Until It Comes Out And It Makes Sense." That Psychographic-Style Process To Writing Informs A Collection Of Songs That Are At Once Both Intuitive And Fully-Formed. The Oldest Song On The Record, 'Help Me Help Myself', Bears Witness To This Approach. Perhaps Their Most Direct And Perfect 'Pop' Song To Date, It Suggests These Songs Were Always There Within, Just Waiting To Be Divined. "We'd Just Started Using Drum Machines And There's Something Of A Naïve Quality To It," Explains Katie, Though Its Naivety Has Now Been Augmented By Jez Williams' Impossibly Diaphanous Production. The Constant Upheaval Of, Well, Everything Has Fed Directly Into Day By Day. "The Songs On The Album Were Written From When We Were Teenagers Up To Our Early 20s, So It's Come Of Age In This Weird Apocalyptic Time," Says Katie. "Everything's Surrounded By Uncertainty" Notes Joey, "But It Isn't All Doom...

Beach House, Cocteau Twins, Cigarettes After Sex, Slowdive. Isolated from any kind of music scene and enveloped by the cold Brutalism of Preston, White Flowers are a young, enigmatic band developing their own eccentricities away from the influence of big cities. New EP ‘Are You’ is a sonic and aesthetic collage drawing deeply from their environmental and social surroundings. The songs on the EP may at first seem delicate and beautiful, but closer listening reveals dark undertones and dry humour fuelled by the frustration of feeling trapped with no way out. Driven by this sense of claustrophobia, the duo have sought to create a form of escapism outside of their physical and 3 geographical limitations. Recorded late 2021 between Preston and Bristol, ‘Are You’ weaves together a mixture of intuitive home recordings and refined studio production aided by producer Ali Chant (PJ Harvey, Portishead, Perfume Genius). The four songs on the EP are an intentional collection of contrasts and paradoxes - beauty and repulsion, calmness and mania, anxiety and stasis - all combined to form a balanced whole. Whilst influenced in part by the writings of the late Mark Fisher and his idea that we are haunted by futures that failed to happen, that what might have been may yet be the dream that saves us, White Flowers have also found inspiration in the Brutalist architecture that adorns their hometown - futuristic yet dated buildings that serve as an appropriate visual metaphor for Fisher’s theories. Bleakly imposing yet comfortingly familiar, the monochromatic starkness of these structures has fed into the imagery for the record, as well as the sounds found within. Not intending to wallow in cynicism, however, White Flowers’ art ultimately aims to provide a way out of these dystopian fever dreams and spiralling thoughts into a forward facing place

Wedge’s new release „Like No Tomorrow” makes for an unholy trinity of Wedge albums in the Heavy Psych Sounds Records back catalogue. The Berlin-based power trio once more is driving their musical Wedge in between many different genres: Garage rock turns progressive while psychedelic guitar lines are tripping over hard rocking riffs. Does this work together? Hell yes! For fans of Deep Purple, MC5, Led Zeppelin or Humble Pie this album is a sure shot. You like fuzz guitars? Hammond organ and vocals trough a swirling Leslie cabinet? More cowbell? You got it. But unlike our beloved rock records from around 1971, which we’ve heard a hundred times before „Like No Tomorrow” has one huge advantage: It’s brand new and the 8 tracks, ranging from 3:00 to 9:00 minutes, deliver a fresh, unspent and unmistakably unique taste to the rock’n’roll menu. In the tradition of bands like The Raconteurs, The Hellacopters, Graveyard or Wolfmother, Wedge are building on that vintage vibe we all know and love but evolve their very own thing and are able to connect it directly to here and now. Also lyrically the tunes are picking up on our zeitgeist, dealing with topics like digitalisation, mass migration and current social issues among others. So it’s no coincidence that the record’s title is a direct hint at our crazy times, in which it feels like the end of the world might be lurking just around the very next corner. But rather than being pessimistic about it, Wedge want to convey a positive message: „When it feels like there might be no tomorrow, just love and live Like No Tomorrow”

Piano-based instrumental post-rockers We Stood Like Kings from Brussels have been around for over a decade now. They have released four albums and toured Europe extensively, rescoring silent movies and revisiting classical music in a heartfelt attempt at breathing new life into masterworks of other art forms. The albums BERLIN 1927, USSR 1926 and USA 1982 form a vibrant cinematic trilogy of new live scores for silent cultmovies, a field in which the band has become a reference on the European scene. After the release of the CLASSICAL RE:WORKS project, on which We Stood Like Kings take a fresh look at classical music from the Baroque to the 20th century, the band goes back to cinema with a new live soundtrack project dedicated to the recent silent 3D animation movie Away by the young Latvian director Gints Zilbalodis.

180g Colored Vinyl (black and orange swirl), gatefold sleeve, printed inner-sleeve. 'Ships Will Come' is the highly acclaimed debut album from Leipzig, Germany-based outfit Warm Graves. On the LP, Warm Graves deliver surreal, dream-like atmospherics that are underpinned by repetitive, organic rhythms and echoing vocals, performed by a self-taught choir composed of a collective of friends. Across the seven perfectly structured and interwoven tracks, Warm Graves create a sci-fi soundtrack that manages to be as gorgeously mesmerising and ethereal as it is anthemic and empowering. Originally released in 2014, the album is now being reissued by their new label home, the London-based Fuzz Club Records. Having spent the last few years out of sight and quietly working on new music, Jonas Wehner's Warm Graves have now completed their long-awaited second album which is set to be released via Fuzz Club in 2022. Until then, their fantastic debut, 'Ships Will Come', is now available to stream/download on all digital platforms once again and will have a vinyl reissue arriving on December 3rd. Warm Graves have previously toured with Exploded View and Moon Duo and also supported The Soft Moon, Crystal Stilts, Efterklang and Moonface. They've appeared at such international festivals as The Great Escape, ATP, Iceland Airwaves, Roskilde and Eindhoven Psychlab

Walrus are here to play for the sake of the song. The Halifax based band's signature sound is a fuzzed-out electric blanket of soul with a few unrepentant strands of authentic heaviosity. Extensive studio experimentation can be heard throughout their sonically unique music, from varispeed warble to Spacemen-3 style saucer drone-attacks. Live, their low-key manner belies a depth and dedication to the craft. This band could be thrown on a bill betwixt Love and Sabbath and not embarrass the present.

Acclaim for Walrus:

'Long, languid stretches of spacey meanderings eventually wind themselves up into tight knots that beg to be undone, to be free again' Walrus bring about a magnificent explosion of noise and heat.' // CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND

''thumping, synthing wonder' mixes the best influences of the genre with the band's own studio experimentation' (4/5) // STEREOGUM

'The band somehow mix gentle, Brian Wilson vocal melodies and orchestrations with out-of-the- blue punk thrash parts that keep listeners guessing. The high, winsome vocals and chiming 12- string Rickenbacker certainly conjured late '60s cloudy folk-pop, but the rest of the band infused the songs with sharp edges. Some of it recalled the Sadies, and the musicians in Walrus are certainly in the same league.' // EXCLAIM!

'Best bet for an acid flashback' // NOW

'Pristine, fuzzed-up jams' // CLRVYNT

Outside Music will support the release with a full marketing and PR campaign. Big Hassle on board for US PR; Starkult for German PR.

Having released two albums proper and a Remix-EP with Born Bad Records, now it's the time to re-release a selection of further singles and b-sides. Perfectly balanced between dark electro and misty post-punk, as inspired by clubbing and krautrock as by bands like Bauhaus and The Fall, VOX LOW could get us moving on the dancefloor while an apocalyptic storm rages outside. VL are four knights of darkness: Jean-Christophe Couderc (machines and vocals), Benoît Raymond (bass), Mathieu Autin (drums), and Jérome Pichon (guitar). For the first time, a selection of hard to find tracks released by VOX LOW on various small labels. Some tracks has been released on very limited 7" vinyl, sometimes at 100 copies only.A1/A2 : 12" Released on Astrolab Recordings 2015 - A3/B2: 7" Released on Evrlst.inc 2014 - A4: 7" Released on Astrolab Recordings 2016- B...

After 3 albums based purely on synthesizers, the danish duo take a leap by adding live drums & guitars to their latest album. A natural step, considering that Jakob Skott, one half of the duo, spends his time drumming in Causa Sui, as well as a slew of jazz-infused projects on El Paraiso. All basic tracks were recorded in an improv session at Jonas Munk's studio in Odense, capturing both synths and drums live. The expansion of drums adds a natural 70's groove, maintaining a spontaneous vibe that also soaks into the analogue synths of modular wizard Kristoffer Ovesen. The improvised sessions were later honed, edited & layered, bringing forth the best of both spontaneous ideas, as well a multi-dimensional approach bringing a new depth to Videodrones extensive cinematic undercurrent of sounds. With the addition of echo & reverb drenched guitars, the duo is tapping into sounds in new realms yet strangely familiar. After The Fall may conceptually nod it's head towards a gloomy state of affairs, but akin to the italian post-apocalyptic movies of the 80's, doomsday never felt this heady and funky before.

There's no band that can lay claim to being the true best in the business,
except VIDEO. Crawling from the musical wasteland that is Texas,
their intentions are simple: they want to own the world. While the band
features members of Bad Sports, Wiccans, Radioactivity, and the Wax
Museums (just to name a few), VIDEO stands on its own as one of the
most powerful and visceral bands active today. Combining equal parts
snotty punk, hard rock, and melodic dissonance, VIDEO are pioneers of
their own subgenre, Hate Wave. Going well beyond the confines of paint
by numbers punk, and generic, flaccid garage rock, VIDEO forges a new
cult like movement. So pay attention, consumers, and don't miss out on
the best thing going today. Long Live The New Faith, Long Live VIDEO.

Viaje A 800 still has a reputation as one of the greatest music acts on the Spanish classic and progressive rock scene. Not so profilic on studio albums (just 3 ones came out within 15 years), the band retired adding this gem to their discography. Alone Records show tribute to the band with this 2LP live set, now when the label celebrates 15 years of existence. This is the first official live release, recorded on April 13th, 2013. The LP-version is limited to 500 copies, including a poster and with amazing artwork from Antonio Ramirez.

French electronic post-punk/krautrock trio Veik recruit Sonic Boom and Vanishing Twin to reimagine tracks from their 2021 debut album, 'Surrounding Structures'. Both remixes have been pressed to wax by Fuzz Club, due out June 9 2023 on a heavy clear-blue 7" limited to 250 copies. On the A-side Sonic Boom (aka Pete Kember of Spacemen 3 and Spectrum) takes album-opener 'Difficult Machinery' and deconstructs it into a spaced-out, oscillating drone. Shifting gear on the B-side, 'Honesty (I Don't Wanna Know)' was already a piece of throbbing and discordant proto-punk and on this remix London psych-pop experimentalists Vanishing Town turn it into an even more abrasive and unpredictable beast. Now being revisted via these remixes, Veik's 'Surrounding Structures' album was rooted in avant-garde krautrock and 70s no wave and inspired by brutalist and modernist architecture. It came highly praised by the likes of Loud & Quiet, Line of Best Fit, Louder Than War, BBC 6 Music, Kexp, France24, France Inter and more.

Clear vinyl LP edition of 500 copies. Vacant Gardens is Glenn Donaldson (of The Reds, Pinks and Purples and a hundred others) and Jem Fanvu, collaborating on music and with the latter responsible for vocals and lyrics. The project began with the idea of combining heavy fuzz and slow-mo drum machine beats with Fanvu's gentle almost trad-folk style vocals. Almost all of Donaldson's otherworldly sounds are achieved through layers of guitar fuzz and copious delay, while Fanvu offers an ideal counterpoint, taking the listener on a celestial melancholy trip with her opaque poetry and melodies. So inspired were the duo by this blend of styles, they immediately recorded at least two albums of material, Under the Bloom and Obscene, released in quick succession in 2020 and 2021 in swiftly-disappearing micro editions on the secretive Tall Texan label. With those records close-to-impossible to find at an affordable price, Tough Love are now reissuing both LPs. - The first LP from Vacant Gardens plays on a lot of favorites around here, combining the blissful descent of shoegaze with the drawn curtain comfort of bedroom synth pop for a record that's immediate and personal but still evocative enough to splash your inner emotions across the stereo spectrum in an effusive pink haze. Doesn't hurt that the band is built from a couple of past familiars as well, with the duo consisting of Glenn Donaldson (Skygreen Leopards, Art Museums, Reds, Pinks and Purples) and Jem Fanvu (also Minor Ghost Band, visual artist), operating a bit outside their typical pop enclaves. With touches of Pale Saints, Curve, and early Creation-era Ride and Slow Dive in the mix, the pair carves at the frothing bouquet of Dreampop with a deft hand that lets on their dedication aesthetics come to the forefront.

With those records close-to-impossible to find at an affordable price, Tough Love are now reissuing both LPs. From Reds Pinks and Purples' Glenn Donaldson, Vacant Gardens is an interstellar recording project that combines celestial, shimmering guitar on the verge of breaking like a massive, emotive wave and an ethereal vocal style from Jem Fanvu (visual artist, Minor Ghost Band also, plus collaborating with Tune-Yards, Cavity Fangs and many more) recalling Hope Sandoval or Liz Fraser that sails in its wake. Simply put, this is some of biggest, heart-tugging guitar music you'll hear in recent times. Sold out at once debut Under The Bloom, is followed now a continuation and development of the group's sound on Obscene: a frayed tapestry of Slowdiving, Flying Saucer Attack guitar noise wall married with an angelic vocal from Fanvu that glitters in counterpoint to the stringed distortion like Hope Sandoval or, in the way it shines bright in the fog, like Jonsi's surfing the surging waves of emotion in early Sigur Ros. Originally released in February on digital formats, Obscene gets a vinyl press and is sounding massive. Vacant Gardens' music suggests oceanic feelings, a hazy intergalactic consicousness that burbles beneath the surface of everything while also touching the visceral points in the human heart that makes groups like Galaxie 500, Yo La Tengo so timeless.

The third release in the highly acclaimed St. Albert’s Dream series once again brings you some of the rarest and most obscure underground psychedelic cuts from 1968-1972. This time 'round, the Alchemist has mixed a “phormula” to take you on a deep underground trip of fuzzed-out psychedelic intensity, by creating elixirs of chemical-based sounds to remedy your psychedelic needs. You’ll hear a morbid swirling organ and guitar-driven tale of love lost from Mississippi’s Flower Power, heavy powerful drumming and guitar intensity from Missouri’s Sound COMPANY—and an insane twelve minute+ fuzz and effect-laden acid freak out by THE Olivers from Indiana. The remaining six cuts are just as heavy, with as much fuzz, effects, psychedelic sounds and ‘acidity’ as you can handle. The nine cuts here have been remastered from micro-pressed 45’s, original unreleased master tapes, and one never-produced acetate. Includes a 12-page booklet with details, histories and rare pictures of the bands and the original 45’s. Limited vinyl pressing of 600 copies.

Sacred Bones has curated an LP of original Ya Ho Wa 13 and Father Yod and the Spirit of '76 (the musical projects of the Brotherhood of the Source) music from their rich and prolific recording history. For those not familiar, Ya Ho Wa 13, formed in 1973, are regarded as one of the most extreme, groundbreaking and influential psychedelic rock bands in history. The band released nine super rare LPs (and are rumored to have recorded 60 LPs worth) full of deep spiritual wisdom, tribal drums and distorted guitars, some of which were completely unrehearsed jam sessions, others which contained more conventional rock songs. Most were recorded after hours of meditation at 3:00-6:00 a.m. in a soundproofed garage that served as the musicians' studio at the family's communal residence. All of the records with Father Yod's participation were completely improvised, with no rehearsals or overdubs and feature him on lead vocals and percussion, via a kettle drum. Most of their original music was pressed in small runs and are highly sought after collector's items. Sacred Bones are super excited to have listened through hours and hours of this transformative music to bring you what they think is an absolutely essential compilation of some of their best songs.

Here is the unmissable sound document from one of Italy's earliest Eighties underground fanzines! Back in the day, Rockgarage was the fruit of the work of a bunch of young music enthusiasts from the Venice area. All already active in the local free radios scene, tired of life's monotony and willing to put all their energy and creativity into a different project. A new sound magazine based on quality content and high musical profile. A total of six issues were published between 1982 and 1984 along with three 7"s and one LP. A stunning work which after forty years still stands as one the best self-made productions on the Italian music scene of the time. All of the Rockgarage musical output is in this significant collection. A fat double album featuring famous, obscure and yet legendary "Italian Wave" bands such as Diaframma, Frigidaire Tango, Degada Saf, Plasticost, Death in Venice, Funkwagen, Detonazione, 2+2=5, Modern Model, Wops, Ruins, Premesuzette, Pyramids and Go Karts. A wide eclectic sound mosaic based on Electro-Post-Punk-Jazz-Funk elements. Experience this dynamic and passionate period through the energetic pulse of Italian New-Wave!!!

Post-punk (originally called new musick) is a broad musical genre that emerged in 1977 in the wake of punk rock. Post-punk musicians moved away from punk's traditional elements and raw simplicity, adopting instead a broader, more experimental approach that included a variety of avant-garde sensibilities and non-rock influences. Inspired by punk's energy and DIY ethos, but determined to break with rock clichés, artists experimented with styles such as funk, electronic music, jazz and dance music; dub and disco production techniques; and ideas from art and politics, including critical theory, modernist art, film and literature. These communities have produced independent record labels, visual art, multimedia performances and fanzines. These three compilations are by no means 'Best Of' or collections of chart hits. They are compilations that endeavour (and we think they do well) to take a wide-ranging look at the UK and American post-punk scene in the years from 1978 to 1984, but here almost everything stops in 1981, giving space to bands and artists that almost always didn't make it beyond the 45 rpm mark. A representation of the true 'Outside of Everything' of the era.

The long awaited third volume of our "Algo salvaje" series, featuring untamed 1960s beat and garage nuggets from Spain."Algo salvaje" is an anthology devoted to a rich period when hundreds of bands appeared all over Spain and, after paying attention to what their US and British contemporaries were doing, found their own way to vent their teenage rebellion through loud guitars. With amazing results! Many of the 28 tracks are reissued for the first time, including very hard-to-find records. This double LP gatefold package includes extensive notes by Vicente Fabuel featuring all the original record sleeves and artist photos."Algo salvaje" ("Something Wild"), now reaching its third volume, celebrates the darkest, neglected and rebellious side of Spanish beat.Internationally labelled as nuggets (after the original compilation of the same name concocted by Jac Holzman and Lenny Kaye in 1972 for the Elektra label), the more common garage rock label has been used to place and describe one of the most fertile chapters of rock & roll history during its most creative years. An underground story which has luckily become known, with participants from all around the globe which included anonymous musicians, independent record labels with impossible names and ridiculously limited pressings, often not more than a few hundred copies. The tracks chosen for the occasion, a selection filtered strictly by their musical value, adhere to the rules of the classic nugget genre while demonstrating the permeability of garage sound and its inevitable evolution at the turn of the decade (1967-1974) through mixes that embraced psychedelia, soul and even prog rock.Epic and pretty wild. Just the kind of material that this record label usually handles. Many of the 28 tracks are reissued for the first time, including extremely hard-to-find records. This double-LP package includes extensive notes by genre-expert Vicente Fabuel featuring all the original record sleeves and artist photos. So let the band...

Created between Palm Springs, California and Hilo, Hawai'i, V is the first double album from the Hawaiian-New Zealand singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Ruban Nielson's Unknown Mortal Orchestra band. Designed to play as one continuous movement and road-tested on dry California freeways, V is the definitive Unknown Mortal Orchestra car record. It's also the fifth full-length album Ruban has released in twelve years. Across fourteen sunbleached songs - written solo or with his brother Kody - Ruban draws from the rich traditions of West Coast AOR, yacht rock, weirdo pop and Hawaiian Hapa-haole music. Over a laidback blend of singalong anthems and cinematic instrumentals, he evokes blue skies, afternoons spent lounging by hotel swimming pools and the alluring darkness that lurks below perfect, pristine surfaces. It's a duality expressed in the dilapidated sunset blues and the saltcorroded soul Ruban explores through tracks like `Layla' and `Nadja. ' During the pandemic's early days, Ruban reunited with Kody at a cousin's wedding in Hawai'i. With assistance from their father, Chris Nielson (saxophone/flute) and longstanding Unknown Mortal Orchestra member Jake Portrait, they brought everything Ruban had been thinking about together. The result was V, due for release on March 3, 2023, through Jagjaguwar. When they talked about records that moved them in that spine-shivering manner, Ruban started thinking about the 70s AM radio rock and 80s pop songs that had lurked on the edge of his subconscious mind for most of his life. He wanted to write his version of records like that, leading to the two glorious uptempo singles Unknown Mortal Orchestra released in 2021, `Weekend Run' and `That Life'. However, the golden good times never last forever. Not long after, health issues began to plague his extended family. Putting his recordings aside, he helped his mother and his uncle move home from New Zealand and Portland to Hawai'i, and began dividing his time between Hawai'i and Palm Springs. During this period he reconnected with his relatives, reassessed his past, and started to look at things with fresh eyes. Hawai'i brought back memories of the darker side of his parents' lifestyle as entertainers. On those trips, he heard those classic AM radio rock records everywhere. They were inextricably intertwined with the palm trees, swimming pools, and glamorized hedonism he'd internalized from his childhood. There's a type of music in Hawai'i called Hapa-haole (Half white). You can hear it expressed in signature Unknown Mortal Orchestra style through the humid guitar-led atmosphere of V's penultimate song, `I Killed Captain Cook'. Although the songs are presented in a traditional Hawaiian manner, they're mostly sung in English. Having been influenced by Hawaiian music since Unknown Mortal Orchestra's first album, Ruban saw a space for himself within the tradition. When he reflected on his success, he realised he had the responsibility and platform to represent Hapa-haole music on the global stage.

Close to five years on from their last transmission, Ulrika Spacek resurface from self-imposed exile with their third album, Compact Trauma, a collection of songs that function as a chance treatise of sorts for our current collective condition. With a title like that arriving at this point in time, it's tempting to interpret the record solely in the context of the global events of the past few years, but the roots of these ten songs arc back much further in time, charged with their own personalised internal damage. Trauma, in its myriad forms, is often hard to qualify, even harder to rationalise. When something begins to go wrong, how do you gain perspective? What is a temporary roadblock, and what is unmitigated disaster? In its first phase of life, Compact Trauma was a document of a band striving to perfect an idea while the universe around them seemed to want to shut down. And then, at an impasse of sorts and with a record halfway complete, it suddenly did. If Ulrika Spacek were a band in need of the breaks applying, it was the force of a global pandemic that made it happen. As the world stood still, Compact Trauma was filed away, unfinished and unheard by the wider world, possibly to remain that way forever. And yet, there was to be a second act. If mutability is our tragedy, it's also our hope, clearer days slowly began to emerge as the bad slipped away. The wound, as the saying goes, is the place where the light enters you. The prolonged break enforced by myriad lockdowns may have separated the group but it also afforded the five time to reflect on what had already been committed to tape.. As the lights came back on and the shutters up, they found themselves drawn back towards Compact Trauma. What they rediscovered was a record that seemed to preempt the shared grief of a global pandemic. Even if the specifics were different, the themes were uncannily similar. Addressing existential freak out, displacement, substance reliance and encroaching self-doubt, these highly personalised songs suddenly took on a wider significance, speaking in part to a bigger narrative. They could have left it alone, but in coming back to what they knew, Ulrika Spacek found their best work yet. Riyl: Mercury Rev, Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, Radiohead, Deerhunter, Atlas Sound, Stereolab.

Tim "tv" Smith is best known as the frontman and songwriter of the legendary The Adverts . The legend of Adverts began when Smith moved to London at the end of 1976 with his girlfriend Gaye and started putting together a band. Adverts played their first gig on January 15, 1977 at the newly opened punk sanctuary Roxy. The band gained fame with their sharp lyrics and good shows. It soon had a record deal and with it the Top-20 hit single Gary Gilmore Eyes . The classic LP Crossing the Red Sea was released in January 1978. Instead, the following year's Cast of Thousands was a flop. The band reached for a new direction, but failed. The next band TV Smith's Explorers had a minor hit with Tomahawk Cruise and made the LP The Last Words of the Great Explorer in 1981. This band didn't last long either and Smith tried his first solo career in 1983, when the Channel Five album appeared. The next band is TV Smith's Cheap . A few singles resulted and Rip… Everything Must Go! In 1998, TV Smith started his solo career again. The result was the Generation Y CD, which was released in Germany as well as in Britain. With the album, Tim started gigging first in Germany, then in Europe more widely; soon also in Finland and in 2000 TV made a five-song EP The Future Used To Be Better together with Punk Lurex OK . New records appeared at a steady pace, the latest of which was Lockdown Holiday in 2020. Now Hiljaiset Levyt is releasing Generation Y on vinyl for the first time. The album includes such songs as Expensive Being Poor, Generation Y, This Year Next Year... and Happy Homeland , which are still in the man's concert set. The record comes with an insert with a story written by TV Smith himself about how the record came to be.

Without a brutal evaluation of their own becoming, TV Priest might have never made their second album. Heralded as the next big thing in post-punk, they were established as a bolshy, sharp-witted outfit, the kind that starts movements with their political ire. There was of course truth in that, but it was a suit that quickly felt heavy on its wearer's shoulders, leaving little room for true vulnerability. "A lot of it did feel like I was being really careful and a bit at arm's length," says vocalist Charlie Drinkwater. "I think maybe I was not fully aware of the role I was taking. I had to take a step back and realize that what we were presenting was quite far away from the opinion of myself that I had. Now, I just want to be honest." Having made music together since their teenage years, the London four-piece piqued press attention in late 2019 with their first gig as a newly solidified group, a raucous outing in the warehouse district of Hackney Wick. Debut single "House of York" followed with a blistering critique of monarchist patriotism, and they were signed to Sub Pop for their debut album. When Uppers arrived in the height of a global pandemic, it reaped praise from critics and fans alike for its "dystopian doublespeak," but the band - Drinkwater, guitarist Alex Sprogis, producer, bass and keys player Nic Bueth and drummer Ed Kelland - were at home like the rest of us, drinking cups of tea and marking time via government-sanctioned daily exercise. As such, the personal and professional landmark of its release felt "both colossal and minuscule" dampened by the inability to share it live. "It was a real gratification and really cathartic, but on the other hand, it was really strange, and not great for my mental health" admits Drinkwater. "I wasn't prepared, and I hadn't necessarily expected it to reach as many people as it did." As such, My Other People maintains a strong sense of earth-rooted emotion, taking advantage of the opportunity to physically connect. Using "Saintless" (the closing song from Uppers) as something of a starting point, Drinkwater set about crafting lyrics that allowed him to articulate a deeper sense of personal truth, using music as a vessel to communicate with his bandmates about his depleting mental health. "Speaking very candidly, it was written at a time and a place where I was not, I would say, particularly well," he says. "There was a lot of things that had happened to myself and my family that were quite troubling moments.Despite that I do think the record has our most hopeful moments too; a lot of me trying to set myself reminders for living, just everyday sentiments to try and get myself out of the space I was in." "It was a bit of a moment for all of us where we realised that we can make something that, to us at least, feels truly beautiful," agrees Bueth. "Brutality and frustration are only a part of that puzzle, and despite a lot of us feeling quite disconnected at the time, overwhelmingly beautiful things were also still happening." This tension between existential fear born from the constant uncertainties of life, and an affirmative, cathartic urge to seize the moment, is central to My Other People, a record that heals by providing space for recognition, a ground zero in which you're welcome to stay awhile but which ultimately only leads up and out. For TV Priest, it is a follow-up that feels truly, properly them; free of bravado, unnecessary bluster or any audience pressure to commit solely to their original sound.

"It was a bit of a moment for all of us where we realised that we can make something that, to us at least, feels truly beautiful," agrees Bueth.

20th anniversary edition = limited edition opaque red 2xLP in gatefold LP jacket with full color inner sleeves, lmited to 2500 copies worldwide.Originally released in 2004, TV on the Radio's debut album is nine songs about (in no particular order) _ discordant living, misrepresentation, how nothing nothing can be, life, afterlife, love and ove "after hours." These are pop songs. These are rock songs. These are art songs. Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes began right where TVOTR's 2003 debut EP Young Liars left off, propelled into uncharted sonic territory. Undeniably catchy songs with incredible production, arrangements, champion crooning (including stunning a cappella performances) and a host of extras that makes this a seriously solid album. This limited edition 20th anniversary edition adds 5 bonus tracks to the album, including two previously unreleased tracks (neither in physical format nor on digital service providers) - "Dry Drunk Emperor" ( 2005 studio track ) and "Final Fantasy" ( 2004 album outtake ).

Tusmørke, arguably the most atavistically trollish, acid-drenched musical act ever to come out of the kingdom of Norway makes yet another eternal return, this time to take the fellow traveller on a subterranean expedition to the kingdom of the Fair Folk! Dawn of Oberon is the band’s 12th album, released 12 years after their debut “Underjordisk Tusmørke” (2012). 12-12-12 - That makes this album twice as occult as 666. The band says: “This record is a testament of a tumultuous time. We had a new drummer, Kusken, and keyboard player, Herjekongen, in 2022 and immediately started working on the epic Dawn of Oberon. This behemoth had been wallowing about since the start of the millenium, never quite finding its shape and form. We thought of this as a trial by fire to galvanize the new members. During jams at rehearsals and concerts, new themes emerged, resulting in a sort of sequel in the form of Dusk of Tawblerawn part 1-5. Kusken decided to quit after just 8 months, but agreed to document the time we had spent together. All the music was recorded in our rehearsal space and studio in 2022-2023. The record is a manifestation of our Peter Pan syndrome; our aesthetics and ideals remain unchanged for the last 25 years. Never grow up, just grow old. This time we go away with the fairies all together, to the far-away land of the far-out mind. 1.Dawn of Oberon2.Born to be mild3.Dwarven Lord4.Midsommernattsdrøm5.People View6.Troll Male
