Amazing Grace is the fifth album by the British rock band Spiritualized, so named to indicate its considerable gospel influence. Although the title hymn does not appear on the album, the ballad 'Hold On' is based upon the same melody, and the opening track 'This Little Life of Mine' is clearly indebted to the spiritual 'This Little Light of Mine'." "After working with free-jazz collective Spring Heel Jack on one of their albums and tour, frontman Jason Pierce was inspired to make a record with the same principles. His approach meant that the rest of Spiritualized was given the songs on the same day as they were recorded, meaning the record (including orchestral overdubs) was completed in 3 weeks. This is a huge difference compared to its predecessor, Let It Come Down, which took four years to record." Remastered for vinyl in London by engineer Matt Colton, the 180 gram album features lacquer cuts by Metropolis Mastering, presented in a gatefold jacket designed by Mark Farrow.

Born in 1967 and former Wrestling Rock'n'Roll One Man Band Activist Lightning Beat-Man (1992-1999) turned into a Primitive Rock'n'Roll Blues Preacher in the Millenium Change and released countless recordings on several labels. 2017 he had a hand full of songs to record this album, the idea was to record it with several musicians and not showing them the songs, they went to the studio and Reverend Beat-Man played the songs on the guitar one time, then they had 2 takes for recording without rehearsal to keep it fresh. There’s a crazy story behind this beautiful record. We asked Pete to tell you: Just like Achilles turned to be my Achille’s heel. In a snapshot I went from being in Capitol Studio A with a stellar backing band in my service to being alone with my guitar in the middle of a pandemic. Also, in this mess where nobody seemed to care for a while, including myself the tapes were lost. No one knew where those reels ended up and most of all where to begin look for them. Especially through this tough time it was even strange to ask the questions. It all looked like water under the bridge and the only way for me was to turn the page and get on to making something new until I received Luca Sapio’s call. So, we began to chip away at the stone and eventually make the best out of a weird situation because you know songs have their own life and journey and there is never really an end even if we think there is. We started to investigate, starting from Linda Perry’s archive till the Don Was one, finally found the lost tapes somewhere at Capitol Studios vaults. It was a little agonizing but with a collective belief we prevailed and we can give this record the format he deserves. In case you don’t know who is Pete Molinari consider that when Rock Legend Bruce Springsteen was asked during an interview at the Toronto Film Festival about what music he was listening to these days, the superstar said: “Pete Molinari – and if you don’t know anything about him, he’s great.” Surely you do not doubt the boss!

In every way, Julia Brown's only full-length record An Abundance of Strawberries defies expectations. Their final release, Strawberries was recorded largely after the band had broken up. Rather than scrap a large amount of material, songwriter Sam Ray and violist and singer Caroline White decided to finish the record with a rotating cast of musicians, including the original band members Alec Simke and John Toohey, as well as Sean Mercer, Warren Hildebrand, Alex Giannascoli, Abby Trunfio, and others. Largely eschewing traditional band arrangements, they worked heavily with samples - drum machines, breaks, and bird calls in lieu of traditional percussion, 808s in place of basslines - before layering arrangements of strings, pianos, horns, and omnichord on top alongside lush harmonies and oft-affected vocals. The result is a meticulous record that sounds like nothing and everything at once. Both celebratory and melancholy, it nods toward a lineage of pop and indie-pop artists from Ellie Greenwich to Heavenly and more experimental acts like Fog, Cotton Candy Collective, Spiritualized and Duster.

Another Thought was the first collection of Arthur Russell’s music to be released after his death in 1992. Released on CD by Point Music in 1993 it marked the beginning of nearly 30 years of work to let the world hear the enormous archive of unreleased recordings Arthur left behind. Be With revisits this first compilation for a new gatefold double vinyl version and a triple-fold digipak CD re-issue. This is the only place where you can hear some of Arthur’s most recognisable music, like the title track Another Thought, A Little Lost, This Is How We Walk On The Moon, Keeping Up and the woozy disco of In The Light Of The Miracle and My Tiger, My Timing. Though technically a compilation, the whole of Another Thought comes together as a consistent, coherent, wonderful album. Thanks to Janette Beckman for helping reproduce her iconic photograph of Arthur in his newspaper boat hat for the new vinyl sleeve. And thanks also to Tom Lee for giving permission to include his liner notes from the original CD booklet, together with Arthur’s lyrics. Another Thought is absolutely essential for even the most casual Arthur Russell collection. In fact it’s essential for any fan of non-obvious pop music.
