The group WITCH was born from a marriage of apparently contradictory influences. J Mascis of DINOSAUR JR. renown and his long time friend Dave Sweetapple were interested in forming a hard rock band. Fabienne Delsol is back with her debut single taken from her forthcoming album 'Between You And Me' which is follow up to her 2004 debut solo album 'No Time For Sorrows'. This limited 7" single has a exclusive non-album track on the b-side called 'And I have learnt to dream'. Over three years in the making, 'Between You And Me' is full of swinging 60's Ye Ye pop charm including a few French language songs and the single 'Catch Me A Rat'. It's the usual mix of cover and new songs written by George Miller, Peder Bernhardt and fellow Damaged Goods artist Pete Molinari (who also guests on one track). Originally from Limoges in France, Fabienne was formerly the lead single of legendary London garage band The Bristols and has been living and working in London with long time partner Liam Watson (Toe Rag Studios) since 1996.

Painter turned drummer Luc Paradis completed the new line-up. Their debut self-titled album, released on Constellation in spring 2006, expanded on FPA's sonic agenda, while relying more on instumental juxtapositions - rather than electronic interventions or intentional sabotage at the mixing desk - to hijack the music. The Feu Thérèse mandate of knitting critical and non-conformist elements right into their song structures, instead of having these 'collide' with the music as if from outside, has reached a new level of bizarre sublimation on their new record.

"Needle In The Camel's Eye" is the fourth single from The Wolfmen, following hot on the heels of last years limited edition release "Cecilie" and their first two singles on DG. It's a cover of the ENO track from his debut album "Here Come The Warm Jets" and this version has been remixed by Alan Moulder. There are two exclusive tracks on the b-side "Zip Gun" and "Mother Of Mystery". The Wolfmen's debut album is scheduled for a June 2008 release. The Wolfmen are Marco Pirroni (guitars) and Chris Constantinou (vocals/bass). Marco first appeared on stage alongside Sid Vicious in Siouxsie and The Banshees and, with Adam and The Ants, he co-wrote five number one singles and two number one albums. In the 90s he joined Sinead O'Connor as co-writer and guitarist. Chris joined Adam Ant's band in 1982 and went on to work with Junior Vasquez and Guy Chambers, and, in the 90s, formed Jackie Onassid and toured with Iggy Pop. After their digital release by Alec Empire's label "Eat Your Heart Out" the tracks are now made available on a 500 piece collectors editon by austrian label Siluh Records. This release comes in an exclusive packaging by Berlin artist Stefan Guzy and his design agency "Zwölf Medien". The unorthodox cooperation origins in TV-Show "Durch die Nacht" bei French/German TV-station ARTE broadcasted in March 2008. It was then when ARTE introduced german Actor and founder of Siluh Records Robert Stadlober and musician Alec Empire in order to follow them spending a night out in Vienna.

Limited 2011 Record Store Day release! In early 2009, tired of being virtually the only two people in attendance at some of the most exciting rock shows to come through town, Seattle music fans Aubrey Nehring and Darlene Nordyke founded the Portable Shrines Collective, a DIY organization devoted to the promotion of psychedelic, garage, and experimental music. In addition to assembling local bills for nationally touring bands and providing custom projections and poster art, Portable Shrines currently hosts a bi-weekly DJ night, publishes a blog, and produces Escalator Fest, an annual multimedia happening bringing together bands, psych DJs, video artists, and enthusiastic crowds.

Two brand new songs from Seapony, exclusive to this release. First material to follow the band's debut LP, Go With Me, also available on Hardly Art. The music of Seapony is refreshing in its simplicity. Most songs use no more than three chords, with an average running time around two-and-a-half minutes. Other bands make a fuss about coloring outside the lines, but Seapony aspires to the reverse, making each ditty distinctive while operating within the same basic sonic framework: Fuzz-drenched guitar playing simple chord progressions, topped with concise melodic hooks and singer Jen Weidel's breathy vocals. In lieu of a human drummer, the Seattle trio entrusts timekeeping to a vintage gizmo the size of a desktop calculator. The lyrics to "Dreaming," the track that catapulted them into the spotlight in late 2010, are just six lines long. Like YoungMarble Giants and Beat Happening before them, this young three-piece has generated excitement that belies their music's modest means. "Sailing" gently drifts on a simple, sleepy melody and soft handclaps, allowing space for crystalline layers of both acoustic and electric guitar. To be clear, Tig Notaro’s second album is titled LIVE [liv, verb]. LIVE [liv, verb] was recorded, uh, live [lÄ«v, adj. or adv.] at Largo on August 3rd, 2012 at her monthly show, “Tig Has Friends.” The day before this set, Tig was diagnosed with cancer in both breasts. This news was the bookend to an agonizing year in which Tig spent weeks in the hospital battling an intestinal bacteria infection. A week after being released from the hospital, her mother unexpectedly died. Then, in the middle of it all, her relationship fell apart. Which leads us here. Tig’s 30 minute set is not much more than an open-mic set in that it’s half scripted, raw and real. It’s an insightful detailing of her assessing a horrible set of circumstances in a calm, clever and clear manner. “Live at The Moth” was recorded on December 5th at The Avalon Hollywood. The story, recorded for the acclaimed storytelling podcast, is a companion piece of sorts to LIVE. In the 16 minute piece, Tig elaborates on the death of her mother and how the untimely passing eventually lead to a reconnection with her step father.

Featuring two of our favourite people and musicians, Alexander Tucker and Daniel O'Sullivan. Both of these gentlemen have graced the series previously - Daniel with his Victorian prog-synth band Miasma And The Carousel Of Headless Horses, and Alexander with Ginnugagap, a solo session, and a guest appearance on a forthcoming set from Bardo Pond. We have long held a flame for Furrier, the Grumbling Fur album on the icy cool Aurora Borealis label. We quickly invited them for a session - but with little expectation of anything happening in the near future. This was a group whose members define the word prolific - O'Sullivan himself had at least four bands on the go at the time. Still, we're nothing if not hopeful. Lo and behold, he Fur came back with not only a date for recording, but the tantalising prospect of a new sound - more focussed and stripped back - with more op' sensibilities coming to the fore. The results are stellar. As soon as the loping breakbeat and pentatonic piano run of "Wylderness Waiting" kicked in, we knew he Fur had created something very special on our behalf - the extra space and minimal approach providing a wonderful backdrop to Alex and Daniel's instantly recognisable lyrical harmonies. Notable exceptions would be our dear and revered friends Daniel O'Sullivan (Miasma and the Carousel of Headless Horses and Grumbling Fur) and Alexander Tucker(his solo session, Grumbling Fur and Bardo Pond) and Josh Graham (A Fallen Black Deer, A Storm Of Light, Blood & Time). When Aidan Baker let us know he was back in the UK doing his solo material, we obviously had to ask him to join the exclusive club of repeaters and follow up his exemplary 2010 Nadja session with something entirely different. Aidan brought British tour-mates Plurals to the studio with him. Over the two tracks the collaboration has bore some beautiful and exoticfruit. A gradual unfurling of intricate layers of soundbuilds and envelopes the listener over "Dead Foxes In The Street"'s twenty minutes, creating a warm and uplifting aural atmosphere. The second half of the session is an entirely different affair. "Turning Children Into Mice" is a brooding, decidedly sinister beast, weaving a repetitive and increasingly dark threat, until it explodes into a hive of noise, and then slowly and poignantly dies a hero's death. This is truly a collaboration that makes the most of the musicians touring synchrony.

Local Customs: Cavern Sounds covers six years lost in the deranging darkness of Independence, Missouri's Pixley limestone mine, where a team of misfit engineers captured the reverberating echoes of Kansas City's rock 'n' roll blasting cap. Taped in the subterranean studio headspace of Cavern between 1967 and 1973 are previously unissued recordings by Jaded, Larry Sands & the Sound Affair, Sheriff, Mulligan, Stone Wall, Morningstar, the Montaris, and the Dantes, alongside the most explosive tracks released on KC's Pearce, Rock, and Cave labels by the likes of the Reactions, Burlington Express, the Classmen, Fraight, American Sound Ltd, Baxter's Chat, 21st Century Sound Movement, Pretty, Tide, and A.J. Rowe.
