It's not just the usual jangle pop thing or even worse, not something they call "garage punk" these days, nope sir! It is true 70s flavoured powerpop, but just like my boss always likes to utter: You cannot tell people about the greatness of a powerpop record - you have to listen to it, preferably with a drink of choice in your hand and soon it will unravel its specialty (or not). What do I love about BAD WEED besides the fact that they are the most handsome guys around who -- after performing in many different bands for 20 years now - finally learned how to play their instruments? It's the songs! It's all about the songs! The first single from 2015 was something else, you can even call this garage pop, their debut album a couple of years ago and about 100 shows later was just the beginning, here is their second full length simply entitled "II" with the talent, songwriting ability and pop craftsmanship on display! Some of these 12 original songs remind me of albums / bands that seem to be long forgotten on the long run, like "If you ever pt1" could be an early THE FRESHIES single, "Breaking Lines" could be from a RUDI setlist or "Who's gonna love me" sounds just like one of those THE COLD earworms. Most of the songs have this 80ties UK indie punk vibe that goes straight to my brain and heart! They even have the atrocity to cover TOWNES VAN ZANDT - and manage to make it sound not as depressing as the original, only a bit sad maybe.To maintain that this is a feel good album is not quite right, it's not...

Video Age's third album pairs neon-bright 80s pop melodies with a vast range of influences (including Janet Jackson, David Bowie, and Paul McCartney) to create an optimistic sound all their own. Cody Chesnutt’s Headphone Masterpiece is a core work in the WotNot inspiration book. Put that release through Google Deep Dream and Isayahh Wuddha’s Urban Brew is what you end up with. Recorded in Kyoto to multitrack tape recorder with vintage drum machines, guitars and Casio keyboard, the result is an eddying blend of lo-fi soulful indie, funk, rock and psychedelia.
The release is led by Wuddha’s strange but alluring vocal delivery, moving between tender-to-the-point-of-breaking any-second, almost-apathetic-semi-rapping and friendly conversational with the occasional James Brown scream dotted around.
While the music ranges from lively to ballad-esque, there is a sense of fun and playfulness throughout, enhanced by the raw, slapped-together production style.
With roots in Taiwan and Japan, Kyoto’s Isayahh Wuddha counts avant garde saxophonists Albert Ayler and Kaoru Abe among his early influences, but attributes his decision to make and release music to reading Michael Jackson’s biography!

Signing to Rough Trade in the early 80s, on the understanding from his former label Virgin that he wouldn’t release any LPs for a while, Wyatt released a series of singles of cover versions. The set was recorded with a straight, simple, beauty informed by the experience of geopolitics just as the term was being invented. "Arauco" drew on the street 'mass songs' of a Chile protesting at the imminent arrival of Pinochet. "Stalin Wasn’t Stallin'" was a playful resurrection of a barbershop quartet that sincerely, and unbelievably, aligned the USA with the Soviet Union. Most startling of all was Wyatt’s version of Chic's "At Last I Am Free." Breathless and hymnal it gave pause for thought for anyone who liked to use the words personal and political in the same sentence.

Ensuring the UK was represented in his survey of the New World Order, Wyatt paired a version of his old friend Ivor Cutler’s "Grass" alongside a collaboration with the Bengali group Dishari that encouraged Bengali workers to join a trade union. Whilst his beard and directly to the left stance suggested agitprop and protest, these tracks highlighted his incredible gift as an interpreter of popular modes.

This is the second 7-inch single by Voodoo Club, a Rock and Roll Band with an average age of 20 whose debut 7-inch single "Theme of Voodoo Club" was released November 3, 2023 and ranked No. 8 in the famous Japanese ranking Oricon Rock Singles Weekly Ranking. The title track, "Cynical Baby," is a very popular live number that gets the audience going as soon as the intro drum beat sounds. It is a rock and roll pop song for a new generation that can be easily hummed once heard, and in the near future, you can hear the audience's loud chorus echoing in the packed stadium. “Wet Cactus” is an heavy rock band with psychedelic hints created in Cantabria (Spain) during the summer of 2013. The band is formed by Daniel Pascual (Voice & Bass), Ernesto Díez (Guitar), Óscar Sánchez (Guitar) and Jaime Pérez (Drums). They have two studio albums: "Wet Cactus" (2015) and "Dust, Hunger & Gloom" (2018). During their career, they carved out a place in the Nothern Spanish rock scene playing with bands like Yawning Man as well as in festivals like Resurrection Fest. "Magma Tres" is the band's third project. This conceptual album delves into the consequences of Earth's depletion as a life-sustaining planet due to human inaction in reversing their actions. Eight tracks recorded live in February 2022, showcasing a gritty and explosive atmosphere. It is set to be released in November 2023 through Electric Valley Records.

We’re reissuing another killer single from the 70s Aussie label, Bootleg Records. This is right up there with peak Boogie-era Status QUO, whom they toured OZ with in '76.
