Shortly after, the hooded sweatshirt was adopted by the US Military to be used during training exercises to keep the athletes warm before and after. The iconic status of this garment was furthered through its use in the 1976 movie "Rocky," after which it gained more popularity becoming a mainstream wardrobe style.
