The guys at Puebco purchased big parachute fabric that's not being used for its original purpose anymore. It’s distinctively lightweight and strong. Although it’s hard to tell because they look similar, there are two types of fabrics combined: rip-stop fabric with threads woven in a lattice pattern to prevent tearing and a plain weave non-slip fabric. Handles made from dead stock or used industrial belts were used as inspiration to develop several of the Puebco items available. The materials were discovered in a town in India. Puebco visited a small specialty shop where fabrics were piled up close to the ceiling in an area where surplus military items were commonly distributed. There was no space where is filled with fabrics even for a footstep which led the Puebco guys to doubt whether it should be called a store or not. Led by a clerk in the shop, they climbed up on the huge mountains of fabric. The Puebco dudes kept moving forward, pushing fabrics aside that were not quite right until they found exactly what they had hoped for. Because they fought for hours as if exploring a cave, this material deserves Puebco's deep attachment which cannot be expressed in words. Carhartt WIP is always good for a surprise. The small but exquisite Carhartt WIP x Nychair X mini-collection, which consists of a chair and a stool – both of which, of course, fold up, as you would expect from Nychair X furniture – is currently inspiring. Nychair X is a Japanese brand that has been around for over 50 years and specializes in the production of minimalist, functional chairs.

This lightweight and foldable design made of stainless steel and canvas was designed by Takeshi Nii in 1970. Many ottomans are equipped with a slanted seat to better match the shape of the legs and feet, but the Carhartt WIP x Nychair X Ottoman has a flat, horizontal seat that also serves other purposes. The Puebco Old Tent Mat Fabric Hook Basket is made from old fabric of recycled tents sold by the military. In northern India, where a big military base is located, surplus items are commonly distributed to the surrounding cities. Green for jungle, beige for desert, white for snowy mountains, different colors of fabric for different battle fields are gathered for wholesale and it grabbed Puebco designers' heart to see so many layers of fabric piled up. Workers over there wear some of the surplus items without caring about its original purpose. For the Old Tent Mat Fabric Hook Basket, a large tent was washed, then cut carefully to avoid the metal eyelets and windows. Sometimes divided pieces of fabric were sewn together to make a big piece. The result is that none of the finished baskets look the same so with each purchase, you always receive a unique Puebco item. Dimensions: approx. 25.5 x 35.5 x 30.5 cm.
