As C418, composer and producer Daniel Rosenfeld designs sounds to resonate in both physical and pixelated realms. The latter element has broken from the "8-bit" pigeonholing of game music and earned him accolades that reference artists like Erik Satie (The Guardian) and Brian Eno (vice). In 2015, after quietly self-releasing Minecraft Volume Alpha and Minecraft Volume Beta, Rosenfeld partnered with Ghostly International to reissue Minecraft Volume Alpha on vinyl and CD. The release garnered attention from proper music critics and the gaming community alike, becoming one of the most sought after records in the Ghostly catalog. Now, following several restocks of Alpha to fervent fan response, it is time for the soundtrack's second installment to shine. For the legion of listeners and players to, at long last, have Minecraft Volume Beta in tangible formats. Originally self-released in 2013, Minecraft Volume Beta was C418's longest batch of music to date at nearly 140 minutes. The collection features tracks that were "silently" added to Minecraft during its music updates and a few that never officially entered the game. The run time is now adapted to fit the double LP format, while digital downloads include the full set Rosenfeld's unmistakable abilities are on display; he creates a sweeping variety of musical ideas that mirror the limitless universe of Minecraft. The repress will be available on 3xLP vinyl and comes in a beautiful trifold sleeve with all-new original artwork illustrated by Italian artist Daniele Giardini. All 20 songs have been carefully remastered by Christian Bethge (Risk of Rain, Deadbolt, Divinity: Original Sin II, A Plague Tale) for the vinyl format.

The classic multiplayer rogue-like, Risk of Rain, returns with an extra dimension and more challenging action. No run will ever be the same with randomized stages, enemies, bosses, and items. Play solo, or team up with up to four friends to fight your way through hordes of monsters, unlock new loot, and find a way to escape the planet. In his third collaboration with Hopoo Games, Chris Christodoulou returns to the Risk of Rain franchise adding another dimension to the game’s music-verse. Hitman: Blood Money saw Jesper write a masterful score performed by the Budapest Symphony Orchestra and Hungarian Radio Choir, adding numerous electronic elements to create a perfectly blended hybrid soundtrack.

On electronic cues — such as the deeply groovy “Vegas” — his percussive-yet-melodic signature sound shines through; while his symphonic and choral writing are highlighted on cues including “Apocalypse”, “Hunter” and “Silent Invasion”. Blood Money’s score was nominated for an MTV VMA Award and won IGN’s Best Original Score Award.

Their sound here is sometimes darker, more mature, and overall more polished, thanks in large part to the wealth of collaborators they've brought in.

Within these eleven new covers, you'll hear the duo's hybrid orchestral-pop sound that blends heavy-hitting strings and brass, stark choir, textures of winds and synths, electric guitar, and a plethora of vocals from Reven. The live orchestra sections were recorded by Sofia Session Orchestra and Choir in Sofia, Bulgaria, including a traditional Bulgarian Choir on several tracks.

The result is an intense trip back through the world of the game, but whether this constitutes Ending B or perhaps Ending C, D, or E is up to interpretation.

Trailblazing instrumental synth pop experiments created to soundtrack Japan’s booming 1980s cartoon and comic industries. The brightly futuristic instrumentals on this collection reflect the mindset of composers and musicians who believed in a technological future where everything was possible.

In the late 1980s Japan experienced a brief but heady period where societal changes combined with new-found wealth to open up a world of possibilities. A huge influx of cash - artificially created by slashed interest rates after an agreement with the US to weaken the dollar relative to the yen - resulted in the inflation of real estate and stock market at a rapid pace. While the economic bubble it created was unprecedented and impossible to sustain, for a while money was in plentiful supply.

The musical genre City Pop reflected the aspirations of the country’s booming leisure class. Video games flourished with Nintendo's 1983 launch of their Family Computer (or FamiCom). Studio Ghibli was founded 1985 to later became one of the most famous and respected animation studios in the world, and Anime and Manga were established as major forms of entertainment for all generations of the Japanese public.

Music was no mere footnote to the anime and manga boom: the two forms of media often went hand in hand, and not simply through the presence of background melodies. With generous budgets available, even two-dimensional static manga comics could be released with an accompanying soundtrack of original music known as an ‘Image Album’.

Composer and arranger Kazuhiko Izu was one such beneficiary of this open budget approach. Written to accompany artist Katsuhiro Otomo’s manga comic Domu, the composer and arranger took advantage of the world-leading (and wallet-busting) Japanese synthesiser technology available at King Records’ fully equipped studio. Featured on this compilation, A3: Act 2 Scene 26 reflected the story’s sci fi themes with a blazingly futuristic yet warmly funky slice of synth pop that presents a joyful celebration of synthesisers and their seemingly endless possibilities.

Kan Ogasawara was another composer who made early mastery of the litany of synthesisers, drum machines and sequencers that had become available. Two tracks written to accompany the 1985 period manga Yume No Ishibumi are featured here; Honowo’s experimental electronic textures add spice to a jaunty electro pop melody that recalls the Rah band’s 1983 hit Messages From Stars; the jazz-tinged Utage rounds out Ogasawara’s shimmering synth textures with beautifully crafted backing from legendary musicians Yuji Toriyama (guitar), Pecker (percussion) and Jun Fukamachi (piano).

Before becoming one of the pioneers of Japanese Kankyo Ongaku (Ambient Music), Takashi Kokubo worked on the proto techno track Kiki (Jungle At Night). It was put together for the 1984 anime film Shonen Keniya (Kenya Boy) using some of the most expensive music technologies available at the time. This Africa-Inspired dance track offers a contemporary parallel to the early techno music that young Detroit based producers were then creating using cheap Japanese Roland drum machines and synthesisers.

This is the first compilation of Japanese anime and manga soundtracks curated by Kay Suzuki and Rintaro Sekizuka from Vinyl Delivery Service (a Tokyo based online record shop which also operates in East London's renowned wine and hifi shop Idle Moments). With a cover by artist Kazuki Takakura and two pages of liner notes, this vinyl only compilation of music never before released outside of Japan, captures a vital aural snapshot of an era whose forward-thinking sounds went hand in hand with cutting edge technology.

EP compilation Of Soichi Terada's work for the Ape Escape 1 Playstation game. TIP! Outside of the international house underground, where his early ‘90s works for the Far East Recording label he co-founded with Shinichiro Yokota are rightly celebrated as bona-fide classics, Soichi Terada is best-known for his work composing music for video games. Yet until now, few of his productions for video games have been released outside of Japan, especially on vinyl.

Apes In The Net, a six-track EP featuring music composed for the popular PlayStation 1 series Ape Escape, sets the record straight. It not only showcases Terada’s quality as a composer and producer, but also his versatility. Like much of Terada’s work on the Ape Escape series, the tracks featured don’t explore deep, New York and New Jersey influenced house sounds, but rather his lesser-celebrated love of jungle and drum & bass – a sound he fully explored on 1996 album Sumo Jungle.

“The producer of the Ape Escape games heard that and got in touch,” Soichi remembers. “They asked me to make the soundtrack, and then work on the music for the sequels after that. I used to love making music with Akai hardware samplers, synthesisers, and computers, so I played and recorded the tracks using almost the same methods as I did when I made house music. Using breakbeats and audio samples with a sampler was the most useful way to make the soundtracks.”

The six tracks on show, which were originally recorded in the ‘90s but reconstructed and remastered for Japan-only CD and digital releases over a decade ago, mix elements of Terada’s familiar deep house style – think warming chords and pads, memorable melodies, and emotive musical motifs – with blistering D&B breakbeats, 16-bit synth sounds, electronic bleeps and undeniably weighty basslines. They’ve stood the test of time and arguably sound just as fresh now as they did at the turn of the millennium.

For proof, check the soaring, spellbinding ‘Spectors Castle’, where uplifting lead lines and sumptuous chords dance atop punchy beats and growling bass, the jazzy and saucer-eyed rush of ‘Mount Amazing’ (all twinkling piano motifs, alien synth sounds, squelchy bass and skittish drums) and the intergalactic, liquid D&B excellence of ‘Time Station’, whose whistling melodies and stargazing chords are undeniably alluring.

There are plenty of other delights to be found across the EP, too, from the bustling, race-to-the-finish breathlessness of D&B/bleep techno fusion workout ‘Spectors Factory In’, and the rumbling sub-bass, creepy pads and suspenseful melodies of ‘Haunted House’, to the bombastic, all-out-assault on the senses that is ‘Coaster’, the set’s most “purist” jungle workout – albeit one that also doffs a cap to the pulsating world of big room techno.

Apes In The Net, then, celebrates Soichi Terada’s mastery as a video games composer and early Japanese junglist. Props are well and truly overdue.

Event-only, ultra-rare analog record “Tori No Uta”, a masterpiece so honored that it is even called the “National Anthem”, is finally being reissued! This legendary work, released in 2006 in a limited edition of 500 copies for event sales only, is finally being reissued! The jacket is a faithful reproduction of the original jacket drawn by Itaru Hinoue, which can only be seen on this title. The original version was a picture vinyl without obi, but the reissue version is a black vinyl 180g heavy-weight vinyl with obi! B-side includes remixes!

The mystery and terrors of Shiokawa, Japan are fully brought to life by this retro-inspired chiptune soundtrack that is as melodic as it is atmospheric."Writing music for a horror game with such a limited chiptune sound palette was a very interesting challenge. It made me consider every part very carefully, resulting in an unusually melodic soundtrack for a horror game", says composer Joseph "Qwesta" Bailey. Joel Baylis shares a brief insight into his vision for the soundtrack and the outcomes: “My goal when writing the music for ‘Cassette Beasts‘ was to make something that felt somewhere between a role-playing game soundtrack and an 80’s synth rock album. Despite its influences, I feel like it ended up being rather unique. It’s quite hard to pin a genre onto these tracks and the collection itself varies greatly in vibes as well as styles.”

An anime adaptation is also in the works! The soundtrack of the hit action RPG game "Tenho no Sakuna Hime", released in 2020, is now available in analog format. The production staff carefully selected and arranged a total of 20 tracks for the analog version.

The unique and well-crafted setting in which characters are raised through rice cultivation, and the game system that allows players to experience the hardships and joys of rice cultivation while also providing a challenging combo action game. The game's main character "Sakuna" is voiced by Naomi Ozora, a voice actress with a unique and addictive voice, and the cute characters sometimes laugh, sometimes cry, and sometimes expressively tell a fun and sad story. With a gun full of lead and a fistful of witchcraft, Laced Records has formed a posse with Ice Code Games and Good Shepherd Entertainment to bring you music from turn-based supernatural westerns Hard West and Hard West 2 to good ol’ wax.

All music has been remastered for vinyl and will be pressed onto heavyweight LPs. Disc 1 is transparent light blue and features the full 14-track OST from 2015’s Hard West. Disc 2 is transparent orange and boasts 9 tracks selected from the Hard West 2 soundtrack. LPs come in printed inners, which are housed in a spined sleeve. Sleeve artwork for Hard West is by Grzegorz Przybyś, while Division48 Studio created the sleeve art for Hard West 2.

With Hard West, Marcin Przybyłowicz (Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077) set the mood for the series, employing twanging guitar, pounding drum beats, lonely trumpets and various atmospheric elements. On several of his more anxious cues, snatches of piano, guitar and violin emerge from the echoey fog to keep players on edge, while maintaining the heightened mix of fantasy-horror and Wild West aesthetics.

For Hard West 2, Jason Graves (Dead Space 1&2, Tomb Raider [2013], Dark Pictures Anthology) gets grittier and grungier, while honoring the sound world of the original. Co-op squadmates Laced and Ubisoft have extracted the spine-tingling electro-acoustic soundtrack to Rainbow Six Extraction and will infuse it into the ultimate form of analogue audio.

The double LP will see ‘react splatter’ discs slip into a deluxe gatefold sleeve adorned with artwork by the team at Ubisoft Montréal. 19 tracks mastered for vinyl by sonic special ops agents will be pressed to heavyweight LPs.

Composer James Duhamel teamed up with the One Take Tigers (the snappy nickname for the audio wizards at Ubisoft Montréal) to create an uneasy and mysterious generative real-time underscore for Extraction. The cue fragments queued up in the game comprise electronic sounds created by rabid synth-collector Duhamel and an array of acoustic instruments recorded by he and the ’Tigers — all synced to the same bpm and key to help the building blocks fit together.

The ‘power trio’ of the score is the octobass, the ondes martenot and the pipe organ, complemented by instruments like the banjo and clarinet, and percussion including angklung and waterphones. Certain live recordings were run through audio processing in real-time to create eerie effects in the moment. And never put it past an audio team to sneak other oddities into a soundscape — with rakes, sword clashes and kitchen utensils serving as percussive sounds on the Extraction OST.

To mix the soundtrack album from musical fragments for an otherwise randomised game score, the team brought an authorial hand to proceedings, creating a structured musical narrative of sorts. The goal was to make an album that’s original, immersive, and helps to communicate the mood of the game.

The fight continues in Wood Oak City. After the events of Streets of Rage 4, our heroes wanted to prepare themselves for future threats. Axel, Blaze and their mates will start a very special deranged training with the help of Dr. Zan, who built an AI program from the remnants of Mister X’s brain that simulates every kind of danger they could be facing.

The 'Mr. X Nightmare' soundtrack was composed by acclaimed video game musician Tee Lopes. The vinyl soundtrack includes a 12inch record with 12 riveting tracks, a download code for digital tracks, and an insert with artwork and liner notes by Lopes.

Ubisoft turned to award-winning electronic music artist Simon Delacroix aka The Toxic Avenger to soundtrack the 2022 season of the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege European League. In league with Enchanté Records, we’re bringing six bangers to wax with the Breach EP.

The release is the culmination of a season-long collaboration that saw Delacroix apply his uncompromising sonic mastery of electronic music to trailers and broadcasts for fans to enjoy during their weekly Siege esports rendezvous.

The Coalition and Laced Records have joined forces to bring stunning remasters of the original trilogy soundtracks to vinyl.

2008’s Gears of War 2 sealed the franchise’s position as a multiplayer juggernaut with 5v5 and Horde mode, and heightened the sense of spectacle with its epic campaign. Composer Steve Jablonsky (Transformers film series) built on Kevin Riepl’s musical foundations by introducing more live and electronic instrumental and vocal layers to make things bigger, darker, and crunchier.

This double LP set features 27 tracks, specially remastered for vinyl by Joe Caithness. These will be pressed onto two audiophile-quality, heavyweight 180g red LPs. Discs will be housed in a wide-spined sleeve with two printed inner sleeves.

Artwork has been created by graphic designer/illustrator Luke Preece, known for his striking, ultra-detailed posters, t-shirts and logo designs from all across the gaming and pop culture world. Originally released in 1989, Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes marks the beginning of Nihon Falcom’s Long-running turn-based RPG series “The Legend of Heroes”.

The soundtrack to Dragon Slayer VI Legend of Heroes as a whole is more relaxed and light-hearted in contrast to its other role-playing game contemporaries that Nihon Falcom released on the PC-88. From the relaxing themes of “Town” that instill a sense of peace and safety and the music of “Ship” accompanying you as you sail across the sea.

One of London’s most intriguing labels ventures a dark fantasy horror/gamer soundtrack by its co-founder, Lugh O’Neill for an experimental film of the same name by Kevin Brennan. Lugh follows a highlight of the label’s ‘Apocope’ compilation with his most enigmatic work, scored in a back and forth with director Brennan to locate some of his most curious and haunted recordings. Made to accompany the film’s part documentary, part scripted format, the music follows a storyline about real life imitating gamer life, and vice versa, outlined by the label as grappling “with the idea of virtual violence as a form of expression and identity whilst scrutinising the predominantly male ‘gamer-bro’ archetype synonymous with these online cultures.” As with ‘Apocope’ earlier in 2021, the concept does not get in the way of enjoyment of the music, acting on its own merits as a steeply absorbing suite of suggestive soundtrack and finely sculpted dark ambient music. The ‘Erangel Ost’ finds its closest aesthetic corollary in Lugh’s ‘Re Munus’ LP of 2020, but loses that LP’s more frantic aspects in favour of an extremely slow burning appeal, where scenes unfold at a glacial pace that’s hard not get sucked in by. Its 10 parts unfold thru 37 minutes, describing a fleeting play of shadow tones and transportive spatial settings. Any violence is implied and not explicit, perhaps seeping thru in the unsheathed sword scythes and keening guitar noise of ‘Crystalline Dawn’, the bellyaches of ‘Lost Boys’ and the beastly grind of ‘Moan Jiro,’ but more often reserved to the peripheries where it suggests the tension leading up to the act, and its aftermath, especially in the highlights of ‘Idle,’ the guttural lurk of ‘Forest Lure,’ and exquisite designs of ’Sentinel.’ Promo

There's something so raw, lively, and evocative about the Mutazione soundtrack. During some spurts, it evokes the punk rock-fueled chaos and spilled beer aroma of hearing Joan Jett obliterate your ears at a small club during her early days. Then, just like that, you are enveloped by the luscious lullaby-like essence of Portishead on the next track. Then, another evolution on this musical journey: the rock n' roll of Radiohead, as if sipped from a Twin Peaks pint glass. The impressive magic of composer Alessandro Coronas is how he balances it all, encapsulating the emotion of profound rebellion, all the while, staying married to melancholy. This could very well be your new favorite record, even if you've never played the game - but bonus aural emotions if you have!

Rend is the official soundtrack to the debut game from Frostkeep Studios. Rend is a team-based survival game set in the fabled universe of Nordic myth. This epic fantasy world is a harsh domain where the strong ascend as gods.

Building the musical identity of the world from the ground up was a daunting task but I found inspiration in unexpected places. As the players start out in the afterlife with nothing and have to craft survival tools with the elements around them I found myself reaching for older and less refined sounding instruments like the Hardanger fiddle, Hurdy Gurdy, Viola Da Gamba and Nyckelharpa. The resonant qualities of these instruments gave the feeling of ancient machines built out of wood and string.

My favorite part about working on this soundtrack was getting to collaborate with Einar Selvik of the Norwegian folk band Wardruna. Einar not only provided some incredibly powerful vocals for a few of the songs but also set them to old Norse poetry. I had the privilege of working with quite a few incredible soloists on Rend, most if not all of whom had never worked on a video game score (at least not when I originally recorded them a couple years ago).

Over the two or so years I worked on this score the scope changed quite a bit. While the initial focus had been smaller, more crude sounding pieces, the world of the game continued to grow into a lush, beautiful and quite varied landscape. This led to the idea of adding the City of Prague Philharmonic as well as more celtic influenced instruments and Bulgarian choir. In the end this score isn't about one place or one cultural influence. It borrows from cultures around the world and gives them an otherworldly setting.

Rend is a very special score for me. One that gave me the opportunity to experiment in ways I hadn't before and to work with some really amazing musicians. I hope you enjoy this soundtrack and let it take you on a journey through the worlds of your imagination.

Sega and Laced Records have formed a pact to present the music of Yakuza 0 (Ryū ga Gotoku Zero: Chikai No Basho) on vinyl.

The 6LP box set features 90 tracks including fan-favorite karaoke numbers '24-hour Cinderella' and 'Bakamitai.' All music has been specially remastered for vinyl and will be pressed onto audiophile-quality, heavyweight 180g LPs.

These come in printed sleeves, all housed in a rigid board box.

Let’s be real: Spinch (not “spinach” like autocorrect demands) is a really freakin’ weird game. It’s a bountiful bazaar of colorfulness and alien aesthetics as if a Kool-Aid fever dream collided with unicorn nightmares. Wacky worlds, however, are only good as their wacky soundtracks, and herein rests one of the most fabulously fun soundtracks iam8bit has ever released on wax. Composer Thesis Sahib is a mad genius of creatively conjuring sounds from just about anything, and with Spinch he looks to children’s toys, retro and modern, for that extra special audiosauce. (Yes, he recorded toys and it sounds awesome!) We’re so very proud to present this gem on tricolor vinyl, in an obscenely vibrant die-cut jacket design by Spinch creator, Jesse Jacobs.

Original compositions for virtual game music recorded in 1995 by Los Microwaves founder David Javelosa. That period in the 90s was one of rare times that Los Angeles was sort of a fun. You'd go somewhere for a drink and hear the late 1950s-early 1960s quirky instrumental pop that became known that year by the "Space Age Bachelor Pad Music" sobriquet. Many of the 14 tracks you are ideally hearing now for the first time were inspired by that long-gone cocktail-glass-shaped crack in time. Made in a tiny Santa Monica studio, surrounded by bits and pieces of torn-apart game consoles, trashed Casios and forgotten keyboards, inventing this set of ephemeral computer-generated sounds. Javelosa remembers what begat the tunes. Thrasher in the Fast Lane, inspired by driving on Bay Area freeways, fast, after hours, an Astor Piazzolla melody blowing with the wind, a party in Mexico City, an exotic perfume, Chet Baker in the background. He's always been fascinated by the concept of computer-generated jazz – still is. The sound of uncertainty, musical cut 'n' paste, excitement when something occurs that maybe has never happened before.

The game music for Nintendo's immortal masterpiece "Mother" has been re-recorded and re-released as "Mother Music Revisited", produced by Keiichi Suzuki, for a new look! The album is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Keiichi Suzuki's career as a musician. The entire orchestra is newly recorded and arranged, and Keiichi Suzuki sings on all songs.

The clans of Activision, FromSoftware, and Laced Records have come together to release the majestic music of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice on deluxe quadruple vinyl.

Set in a fictionalized 16th Century Japan, players take on the role of the shinobi Wolf in trying to protect the young Divine Heir Kuro from the remnants of the Ashina clan. Progression requires a mastery of stealth combat and extreme precision while battling some of From’s most iconic boss encounters to date. No one forgets the first time they bested Genichiro atop Ashina Castle...

The Street Fighter™ III: The Collection four-disc box set will include 72 tracks from Street Fighter III: New Generation, 2nd Impact: Giant Attack, and 3rd Strike: Fight For The Future.

Street Fighter III first hit arcades in 1997 with New Generation, retaining only Ryu and Ken while introducing an otherwise brand new cast of characters. The final iteration, 3rd Strike, is widely recognized as one of the greatest fighting games of all time, and generated perhaps the most indelible competitive moment in gaming, with Daigo’s comeback again Justin Wong aka “Evo Moment #37.”

Composers Hideki Okugawa and Yuki Iwai explored a range of high energy dance styles across the three titles, leaning most heavily on jazzy house, jungle and drum’n’bass — with some samba rhythms thrown in for good measure.

A special music video for “JOIN THE PAC” is directed by Yuichi Kodama, who is renowned as a chief video director of flag handover ceremony at the 2016 Rio Olympics closing ceremony, and his “UNICLOCK” online ad campaign (2008) for UNIQLO, which won grand-prix of three biggest advertisement awards, the Cannes International Advertising Awards, the Clio Awards, and the One-Show.
