Starring Tatsuya Nakadai and featuring Toshirô Mifune, The Sword of Doom tells the story of Ryunosuke Tsukue, a masterful but heartless swordsman in feudal Japan. After deliberately killing an opponent in a training exercise, Tsukue then murders his mistress and flees town. After spending time in a haunted geisha house, Tsukue sees the ghosts of all his victims and spirals into madness, leaving a trail of destruction and bloodshed in his wake. As time passes, the years of brutal killings and evil deeds begin to weigh on his mind, ending in a climactic battle between Tsukue, a group of assassins, and the ghost of his past.

The Sword of Doom soundtrack, composed by Masaru Satô (Yojimbo, Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla), is full of dark and yet melodic cues, and takes many influences from traditional Japanese instruments and music. A minimalist yet powerful score that brings to life the struggles of Tsukue’s inner demons. Waxwork Records is proud to present the debut vinyl release of THE Sentinel Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by Gil Mellé. The Sentinel is a 1977 American supernatural Horror film directed by Michael Winner (Death Wish, Death Wish II). The plot focuses on a young model (Cristina Raines) that moves into a historic Brooklyn brownstone that has been sectioned into apartments, only to find out that the building is owned by the Catholic diocese and is a gateway to Hell. The film features early acting roles by several now-household-name actors such as Christopher Walken, Jeff Goldblum, and John Carradine.

Following a string of supernatural Horror films such as Rosemary's Baby, The Exorcist, and The Omen, The Sentinel is based off the 1974 novel of the same name by Jeffrey Konvitz. Unlike other films of its time dealing in topics of the occult, The Sentinel features strong visuals and depictions of creatures from Hell as they appear in the works of Dante's Inferno, Christopher Marlowe, and the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch.

“Metti, una sera a cena” is a 1969 movie directed by Joseph Patrons Griffi, made up from an eponymous theater script and especially transposed to the film medium. It immediately obtained consents and success, and paved the road to success for actors Florinda Bolkan and Tony Musante in particular. So did the music written by Ennio Morricone, who in 1970 won the Nastro D’Argento Award for Best Score. Lounge sounds, bossa nova, jazz (especially the drums touch) and beat (usually still in vogue in the Italy of the late ’60s), seasoned with orchestral arrangements conducted by Bruno Nicolai, merge here to one of the most famous soundtracks of the Italian Maestro. A perfect mix of eroticism and melancholy, for a real classic! This edition offers the original soundtrack released in 1969 on Cinevox Record in a new artwork, a gatefold cover and colored vinyl. A bonus track is also included, the song “Hurry to me” sung by The Sandpipers, a folk/pop trio who became famous at the time for their version of the popular “Guantanamera”.

At the time of the film’s release only a 45 rpm single of this OST was issued which contained the song “Can be done”, with lyrics by Sergio Bardotti and sung by Rocky Roberts (in 1966 Bacalov had already collaborated with Roberts, performer of the main theme from the highly successful western movie “Django”). Only in 1995 Point Records released a CD (PRCD 120) which contained the istrumental score coupled with the OST from “Il grande duello”. For this our very brand new digitally restored and remastered CD, we again had access to the mono master tapes of the recording session that gave us the chance to discover some unreleased takes which we have assembled in a 7:46 suite. In addition a special bonus track (Tr.16) features the very rare stereo-mixed version of the original 45 rpm single song. Luis Bacalov succeeds in representing in his music the whole sentimental side of the plot (the friendship between the corpulent, but good-hearted Thompson and the child Chip) by writing a sweet and cheerful main theme that is introduced in Titoli di testa in a pop key and with a little Bacharach flavour called “Can be done”, sung by Rocky Roberts and accompanied by a children’s choir (Tr.1). This theme is reprised with orchestral variations sometimes dramatically, sometimes in an epic western context with the use of the harmonica of the great Franco De Gemini (Tr.2, Tr.3, Tr.4, Tr.5, Tr.9, Tr.11, Tr.14) and alternated with saloon as well as instrumental and choir folk music (Tr.6, Tr.8, Tr.12, Tr.13). This CD is dedicated to all the fans of the mythic Bud Spencer, of the Italian Western and of the music art of the Academy Award winner Luis Bacalov.

Sometimes some releases are born through a quick waltz step, some other, such as this one, even if waited since eons and requested by fans more than once, they get a laborious and long gestation. In Blastfighter’s case the long waiting is also due to the label and the artist need to dedicate the correct amount of energy to the relevant release, in order to obtain the best possible result. A score which is dear to Fabio Frizzi, with funky sounds infested with cool bursting electronics, typical of the artist musical canon of the early 80s, it has been played many times by the Maestro, worldwide, during his concerts with his band. Last Day of June is an adventure puzzle video game in third-person perspective. Eurogamer ranked Last Day of June 33rd on their list of the “Top 50 Games of 2017”, while Polygon ranked it 38th on their list of the 50 best games of 2017. In Adventure Gamers’ Aggie Awards 2017, it won the award for “Best Story”, while it was a runner-up each for “Best Concept”, “Best Graphic Design”, and “Best NonTraditional Adventure”. It was nominated for “Game Beyond Entertainment” at the 14th British Academy Games Awards. The minimal, synthesizer-driven themes to films like Halloween, Escape From New York, and Assault on Precinct 13 are as indelible as their images, and their timelessness was evident as Carpenter performed them live in a string of internationally sold-out concert dates in 2016.

A Fantastic Woman (Spanish: Una mujer fantástica) is a 2017 drama film directed by Sebastián Lelio and written by Lelio and Gonzalo Maza. It was selected as the Chilean entry for the Best Foreign Language Film where it won in the 90th Academy Awards. The film is about Marina, a transgender woman who works as a waitress and moonlights as a nightclub singer, is bowled over by the death of her older boyfriend. It premiered at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival in 2017 where it won the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay and the Teddy Award, an award given to films with a LGBT theme. Matthew Herbert is an award-winning composer, artist, producer and writer. He has had work commissioned by the Royal Opera House, the BBC and has remixed iconic artists such as Quincy Jones, Ennio Morricone and been a long-time collaborator of Bjork's, but he is best known for working with sound, turning ordinary or so-called found sound in to electronic music. This is a limited edition on transparent pink coloured vinyl. The LP package contains an insert with notes from director Sebastián Lelio.

In partnership with ÆON Flux creator, artist, and director Peter Chung, composer Drew Neumann, and MTV, Waxwork Records assembled a comprehensive box set experience featuring the complete soundtrack music from all 21 ÆON Flux episodes sourced from the composer’s original masters.

Originally airing from September 1991 through October 1995, ÆON Flux is an avant-garde science fiction animated television series that inspired live action films, video games, and comic books. It premiered on MTV’s Liquid Television experimental animation show as a six-part serial of short films, followed in 1992 by five individual short episodes. In 1995, a season of ten half-hour episodes aired as a stand-alone series.

The original and innovative series featured elements of science fiction, allegory, dystopian and spy fiction, psychological drama, and psychedelic imagery. ÆON Flux is set in a surreal futuristic universe. The setting comprises a bizarre dystopia populated by mutants, clones, and robots, set within the separated border wall cities of Monica and Bregna. The title character is a tall, sexy, dominatrix secret agent from the city of Monica that is skilled in espionage, assassination, and acrobatics. Her mission is to infiltrate and destroy the strongholds of the city of Bregna which is led by her sworn enemy, and sometimes lover, Trevor Goodchild.

About the Composer

The music and sound design of ÆON Flux was created by Drew Neumann. Neumann is an American composer and musician of film and television scores. He studied film, animation, and composition at the California Institute of Arts where he first met and began a longtime friendship with Peter Chung. He has composed music for Disney, E!, Nickelodeon, MTV, Mattel, Paramount Pictures, Cartoon Network, and trailers for feature films. In addition, he has contributed sound design and music composition for a variety of hardware synthesizers, sound libraries, and software and computer products. About the Creator

Peter Chung is a Korean American writer and director of animated films. In addition to creating ÆON Flux, Chung’s directing credits include The Animatrix, and the Cartoon Network feature Firebreather. He served as art director for the animated series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and as designer and director for the Nickelodeon series Rugrats. Chung has also directed commercials for Levi’s, Pepsi, Honda, Jaguar, Sony, and many others. He currently teaches a Master Class at the Division of Animation and Digital Arts at the USC School of Cinematic Arts.

Paddy Kingsland was the first Radiophonic composer to see a solo release of his compositions, although he is not credited on the sleeve. "Fourth Dimension", first released in 1973, showcased Kingsland's theme tunes for television and radio while at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. The recordings feature a rock-style backing band and synthesisers including the VCS 3 and "Delaware" Synthi 100, and the track "Reg" from the album was also released as the B side to the 1973 single release of the iconic Doctor Who theme tune. Kingsland remained at the workshop for 21 years, leaving in 1981, during which time he composed music for much loved TV shows The Changes, Doctor Who and The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy among others.

The album includes 12 new recordings made especially for the film and soundtrack plus an existing recording by Dave Van Ronk. Also featured is a never-before-released version of Bob Dylan performing his song “Farewell,” which was recorded during the sessions for his album The Times They Are A-Changin' and is available exclusively on this soundtrack.

“Una pistola per Ringo” and “Il ritorno di Ringo” are two movies from 1965 that belong to the ‘spaghetti western’ genre, directed by Duccio Tessari and starring Giuliano Gemma as the main character. The two movies, not actually having much more in common besides their title and protagonist, were filmed in a very short time, thanks to the huge success of the first ‘chapter’. The soundtracks of both movies, by Ennio Morricone, show the incredible versatility of the composer, who at the time had already collaborated with Sergio Leone in “Per un pugno di dollari” and “Per qualche dollaro in più”. Thanks to the precious contribution of conductor Bruno Nicolai, the choir of the Cantori Moderni di Alessandroni, trumpeter Michere Lacerenza and harpist Anna Palombi, the Maestro wrote a mainly classical score, developing a wide range of sensations and dynamics in which epic atmosphere, drama and tension alternate to reflective moments or even romantic ones.

This soundtrack is one of many Cinevox Record rarities, this time brought forth over 50 years ago by the genius of Ennio Morricone, in the heyday of Italian underground cinema, years when true masterpieces were made, often innovative from various points of view (plot, photography, colors, settings, screenplay...). "4 Mosche di Velluto Grigio" (4 Flies on Grey Velvet) ends the so-called 'animal trilogy' by Dario Argento, and sees the director in an absolutely inspired moment, yet probably unconscious that he'll leave an indelible mark in the history of world cinema with his following works. This movie, for some reasons, was never officially released on videotape - apart, perhaps, in an obscure French edition - and only recently has finally been issued on optical disc, while from the soundtrack only released a 45rpm single was pressed at the time, before it was fully recovered in the '90s. In "4 Flies ..." Morricone wrote one of his most 'rock-oriented' soundtracks - without of course neglecting his indelible touch - also thanks to the fact that the protagonist of the film is a rock drummer. You hear echoes of Deep Purple, not surprisingly given that Argento wanted them as the first authors of the movie score, and it is no coincidence that his most famous film is titled... Deep Red!

Rob Zombie and Waxwork Records have partnered to release an exclusive, curated line of classic Horror movie soundtracks. “Rob Zombie Presents” will feature several never-before-released film soundtracks that were personally selected by the singer, songwriter, and filmmaker.

Rob Zombie and Waxwork are thrilled to announce their first soundtrack title as “Rob Zombie Presents White Zombie”. Starring Bela Lugosi, 1932’s White Zombie is considered the first zombie movie. It was also filmed on Universal Studio’s lot, using several props from other horror films of that time. Starring Madge Bellamy, Robert W. Frazer, and John Harron, the film follows the cast as they navigate zombies, love, obsession, and treachery. Initially slammed by critics upon its release, the movie has been reevaluated and praised by recent critics for its classic horror production. The film has gone on to influence mainstream media, even influencing the band name of White Zombie. Rob Zombie has said of the film, “It’s a great film that not a lot of people know about. It amazes me that a film that is so readily available can be so lost.”

Director Scott Derrickson returns to his terror roots partnering again with the foremost brand in the genre, Blumhouse, with a new horror thriller.

Based on an eponymous short story by Joe Hill, The Black Phone follows Finney Shaw, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, who is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.

Starring four-time Oscar® nominee Ethan Hawke in the most terrifying role of his career and introducing Mason Thames in his first ever film role, The Black Phone is produced, directed, and co-written by Scott Derrickson, the writer-director of Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Marvel’s Doctor Strange.

The score for the film was created by composer Mark Korven, the mastermind behind The VVitch, The Lighthouse, and Into the Tall Grass. Korven is a Toronto-based award winning composer and multi-instrumentalist. He is known for his innovation and experimental approach to film scoring. In 2016, Korven conceived the notorious horror musical instrument, The Apprehension Engine.

Presenting one of the greatest works by maestro Armando Trovajoli; a solid Italian easy listening masterpiece. After its commercial debut in 1968 as an original soundtrack of famous Italian TV-movie, this record gained renewed interest in the 1990s when four tracks were compiled in the immortal Easy Tempo series. From then on, La Famiglia Benvenuti has not only been considered of Trovajoli’s most sought after records, but has achieved the status of being the manifesto of the Roman swinging sixties - a lively addition to the delightfully cool sounds of the late 1960s, made possible by the following key ingredients: the Marc 4 sound (a steady presence for almost every Trovajoli recording); the outstanding I Cantor i Moderni di Alessandroni, with their unmistakable vocal harmonies; and lastly, the eccentric use of the harpsichord (a signature of Trovajol i ' s spaghetti soundtracks of the period). Cryptozoo is an animated feature-film drama, written and directed by Dash Shaw, featuring the voices of Lake Bell, Zoe Kazan, Michael Cera and Louisa Krause. The film won the Next Innovator Award at Sundance, and premiered internationally at the 2021 Berlinale. It will be released on August 20 in theaters and on demand.
